Have you ever been to the Yankee Capital on the Potomac?  I have.  The place stinks of corruption and swamp gas (mostly corruption).  The air is heavy with a dread sense of impending doom.  It is the opposite of Disney Land. It is the least happiest place on earth.

Washington is overrun with an odd assortment of con artists, criminals, psychopaths and their sycophants.  Worst of the worst are the elected trash under the Capital dome and at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  These grafting lunatics continually foist scheme after scheme on the unenlightened American People.  They want everything: your money, your freedom, your property, your children, your obedience, and your very lives. These otherwise unemployable degenerates are the front men for what George Carlin used to call “The Big Club.” It’s an organization of wealthy pirates, money changers, politicians and other villains.

The Club gets what it wants – everything – all the time.  Watch and listen as George lays it all out (around 2:00 min. in he states my title):

gc truth

George on Youtube.  WARNING: Video contains strong TRUTH.

Lately, the Club has been pushing another criminal trade act.  I commented on the Act (H.R. 1314) last time I rambled.  Normally, I let these things go with one or two posts but this one is special, unusual.  The anomaly lies in the relentless bi-partisan way this Bill is being rammed through the legislative process.

The Act itself is the work of President Obama (a Democrat).  It has nominal Democratic support in Congress.  The fighting power behind this insane drive comes from the Republicans in Congress (Republicans are the opposite of Democrats, remember?).

The purpose of this satanic work of corporate lobbying and largess is to steal the last of your money and employment and deposit them into the greedy, dirty hands of foreigners and Wall Street banksters.

There are a number of uncomfortable truths associated with American politics.  One is that Republicans, supposedly the though, all-American, good old boys, are some of the most spineless wimps every embodied.  They roll over for anything and everything. Obamacare: they let it ride.  Crushing debt: they fight it until they don’t.  Babies being murdered by the millions: they are “outraged” if impotent.  These losers normally provide a little surface friction for the cameras and then let anything go.  It’s their role under our ONE PARTY SYSTEM.  Imagine professional wrestling with a all “heels” cast.

This time around the GOP is fighting like wild banshees, fighting like nothing I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.  Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and company are risking everything on this one.  They have taken Obama’s pass and are headed to the end zone come hell or high water.  Like Tom Brady they may have to take a short suspension for cheating but they will win this one – for the Club.

WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 16: (L-R) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) attend the bipartisan signing of the Medicare Access CHIP Reauthorization Act 2015, H.R. 2, press event at the Capitol on April 16, 2015 in Washington, D.C. H.R. 2, commonly known as "Doc Fix", is a bipartisan bill to strengthen Medicare and fix its payment formula for doctors. CHIP refers to the Children's Health Insurance Program. Meet the Real terrorists. Politico.com/Gabriella Demczuk/Getty Images.

In a separate but related story Sen. Orin Hatch (R, Utah) has introduced a Bill to help more foreigners take jobs from you via the H1-B visa program.  He will get his way on this.  The Salt Lake Tribune opines he should seek to fix the program instead of expanding it.  Why not just end it and let Americans make a living in America? Oh yeah, that doesn’t benefit the Club.

The Club, like the WWE, knows it has a PR problem.  After decades of being screwed over, even the dumbest, slowest American sap begins to suspect something is amiss. Enter a “face” character, a hero for the common man – cut from uncommon cloth.  Last night on CSPAN I watched Donald Trump lay out his bombastic, non-specific plan to save the Nation.  The Donald is running for President.

640x0

No donors required!  Forbes/Getty.

Trump is the “outsider” in a field of some 6,000 or so Republicans seeking the most dishonest job under the sun.  I heard him say things that made him stand out.  I liked a lot of it.  Most of it sounded like a sales pitch.  That’s the beauty and wonder of Donald Trump – he is the best salesman in the world.  He said many of the right things.  He cursed and called our current crop of idiot “leaders” out as just that – stupid people unqualified for their positions.  I liked that part.  He also told the cheering crowd (watch for yourself) he would make America great again.  I really liked that.  He stated some plain and uncomfortable truths; he said what few others dare.  I loved it.  Can he deliver?

Many slick salesmen don’t deliver the goods they promise.  Trump usually does.  When he boasts about a new skyscraper with the best of everything under its roof, a magnificent structure will surely follow.  Can he deliver in the political field? Real estate development is a noble endeavor.  Trump excells at it.  He builds real things that benefit real people.  That’s what development is all about.  Politics is about lies, deception, illusions and anything but useful creation.

I don’t think The Donald will fit in.  I don’t think he can be the change needed.  I think Ron Paul was the last hope for that – back in 2008.  Now, it would seem a little to late to retool and rebuild.  The hope now is in mitigating the damages and preparing for a new future.  Part of me hopes I’m wrong and that we are not past the point of no return. Part of me hopes to get to the future (hopefully one without the Club) as fast as possible – a little pain for a while then a fresh start. Time will tell.

Beyond Trump’s pomp and sales pitch I heard several nuggets which plainly proclaimed Trump to be a $9 Billion business as usual candidate.  Trump is opposed to the afore-mentioned Trade Act.  He also says he will “repeal and REPLACE” Obamacare.  I’ll bet he has plans to replace the Trade legislation too.  That will not cut it.  Abstinence is the only deal with the devil which ever pays off.  One cannot tune the forces of darkness to one’s whims and expect peace.

Similarly, Trump says he will “save” Social Security.  This echoes the age-old Republican mantra of shoring up, replacing, privatizing, or re-working that failed communist program.  Abolishing it is never an option.  No mind that we did just fine as a country for 159 years without such welfare confiscation.  Re-imagined evil is still evil.

Remember all of this should you shuffle into a voting booth next fall.  Your vote, be it for the billionaire, the old hag, ANOTHER BUSH, the shirtless cool dude, etc., will be in vain. The spirit of Carlin and I will waiting on you down the street at the cigar club or the gun range.

Recently I wrote of the coming wave of destructive evil from Washington (the latest, as that tide ever brings the same).  Courtesy of Barry Obama and John (the tan smoker) Boehner “your” federal government is moving towards new, secret, and purely ruinous foreign trade powers.

Frequently I deride the horrors of politicians and politics in general – see these links for details.  The New York Times and NPR report that, as of Friday, the malicious train of ObamaTrade has been temporarily derailed.  I say temporarily because things like this are usually a done deal once they start.

“Eighty-six Republicans voted for the program, more than double the 40 Democrats who supported it. But the trade adjustment assistance bill failed when 303 voted against it.

Republican leaders then passed, in a 219-to-211 vote, a stand-alone bill that would grant the president the trade negotiating authority he sought. But that measure cannot go to the president for his signature because the Senate version of the legislative package combined both trade adjustment and trade promotion.”  New York Times.

I was pleased the popular press reported on this issue – they lacked the zeal these reserve for important stories (say, about Caitlyn Jenner) – but they did, at least, report.  I was a little dismayed they left off important reference information for the inquisitive public. The Bill in question is H.R. 1314(EAS), the Trade Act of 2015.

This gem of K Street legalese would, among other things, amend the Tax Code of 1986 in order to help large organizations make more money at your expense.  It would also grant the President new and unprecedented unilateral trade powers.  Pay no heed to that Congressional consent nonsense in the Constitution.

Get a load of this:

(b) Principal Trade Negotiating Objectives-
(1) TRADE IN GOODS- The principal negotiating objectives of the United States regarding trade in goods are–
(A) to expand competitive market opportunities for exports of goods from the United States and to obtain fairer and more open conditions of trade, including through the utilization of global value chains, by reducing or eliminating tariff and nontariff barriers and policies and practices of foreign governments directly related to trade that decrease market opportunities for United States exports or otherwise distort United States trade; and
(B) to obtain reciprocal tariff and nontariff barrier elimination agreements, including with respect to those tariff categories covered in section 111(b) of the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (19 U.S.C. 3521(b)).
(2) TRADE IN SERVICES- (A) The principal negotiating objective of the United States regarding trade in services is to expand competitive market opportunities for United States services and to obtain fairer and more open conditions of trade, including through utilization of global value chains, by reducing or eliminating barriers to international trade in services, such as regulatory and other barriers that deny national treatment and market access or unreasonably restrict the establishment or operations of service suppliers.
(B) Recognizing that expansion of trade in services generates benefits for all sectors of the economy and facilitates trade, the objective described in subparagraph (A) should be pursued through all means, including through a plurilateral agreement with those countries willing and able to undertake high standard services commitments for both existing and new services.

            – H.R. 1314, Sec. 102. TRADE NEGOTIATING OBJECTIVES.

More:

(4) AGGREGATE REDUCTION; EXEMPTION FROM STAGING-
(A) AGGREGATE REDUCTION- Except as provided in subparagraph (B), the aggregate reduction in the rate of duty on any article which is in effect on any day pursuant to a trade agreement entered into under paragraph (1) shall not exceed the aggregate reduction which would have been in effect on such day if–
(i) a reduction of 3 percent ad valorem or a reduction of 1/10 of the total reduction, whichever is greater, had taken effect on the effective date of the first reduction proclaimed under paragraph (1) to carry out such agreement with respect to such article; and
(ii) a reduction equal to the amount applicable under clause (i) had taken effect at 1-year intervals after the effective date of such first reduction.
(B) EXEMPTION FROM STAGING- No staging is required under subparagraph (A) with respect to a duty reduction that is proclaimed under paragraph (1) for an article of a kind that is not produced in the United States. The United States International Trade Commission shall advise the President of the identity of articles that may be exempted from staging under this subparagraph.
(5) ROUNDING- If the President determines that such action will simplify the computation of reductions under paragraph (4), the President may round an annual reduction by an amount equal to the lesser of–
(A) the difference between the reduction without regard to this paragraph and the next lower whole number; or
(B) 1/2 of 1 percent ad valorem.

            – H.R. 1314, Sec. 103, TRADE AGREEMENTS AUTHORITY.

Make any sense to you?  Of course not. And, this is the part that is open for public inspection.  A shadow bill, the real law, is still locked up and under armed guard in the Capital basement vault.  What kind of government operates like this?  Sadly, “ours’ does.

secret-doors-matt-boyle-breitbart-640x480

(Breitbart.)

Members of the respective houses of Congress can (allegedly) enter the vault to read the shadow text.  Rand Paul did so.  “’I think I am not supposed to reveal the details of it, but I can tell you it was about 800 pages long,’ Paul said.” Breitbart.  “Paul said he thinks the secretive process makes it look like the government has “something to hide” and that he thinks if Obama opened up the process it’d make it easier for several Senators—and the American people—to truly understand what it is they’re voting on.” Id.

They do have something to hide.  They always do.  The details are in the vault, so to speak.  The fact that a U.S. Senator has to keep mum about the text demonstrates this without question.

Another telling facet is the desperation among Republicans and the White House to pass this filth.  “The fate of the trade legislation now depends on Obama’s ability, along with business-friendly interests, to persuade dozens of Democrats to switch their votes before a planned do-over vote early next week.”  Washington Post.

The President is literally pleading with his own party to help him screw the American People.  He’s already won over many of the “loyal opposition.”  At a Washington Nationals ballgame last week “a bizarre scene unfolded as the crowd crammed inside Nationals Park lurched into a chant about the legislation. ‘TPA! TPA! TPA!’ chanted Republican congressional aides seated near the first base dugout when Obama stepped onto the field at the top of the fourth inning.”  Fox News. “TPA” refers to Trade Prostitution Act.

Another telling feature is the desires of large U.S. corporate interests to pass the Bill. The more power their political puppets have, the more money they can make.  You and your retirement plans be damned.  “’Manufacturers will not back down in this fight for expanded trade, for the future of our industry and our country,’ the National Association of Manufacturers said in a statement.”  Business Leaders React With Dismay to Defeat of Trade Bill, New York Times.  Naturally, they have yachts to buy.

Some out here in the real country get it.  “Do you remember back in the 1990s when the United States entered into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)? And the subsequent Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA)? These trade agreements have not worked out well for American workers. American jobs went to Mexico. American workers were laid off and communities devastated. American companies, just to increase their profits, built their production plants in Mexico and paid their workers pennies on the dollar for their labor.”  Remember NAFTA and CAFTA? Well, here comes SHAFTA, Economy in Crisis.

Unfortunately, we have not learned our lesson — even after two decades of failed trade agreements. Right now Congress is considering entering into another trade agreement with South Pacific countries named the Trans Pacific Partnership, otherwise known as TPP. However, this trade agreement is even more onerous than previous failed trade agreements.

* The TPP was constructed in secret by corporations. Congress and the public had no input. This is fundamentally undemocratic and undermines transparency in government.

* It is a trade deal that increases corporate power and CEO bonuses.

* Thousands of jobs out-sourced to countries that do not respect human rights or worker’s rights.

* It allows transnational corporations to sue countries if they believe they have been harmed (sometimes speculatively) in a trade agreement written by corporations and behind closed doors.

* Expands the deregulation of banks, hedge funds and insurance companies. Remember the Wall Street crash of 2008 due to deregulation? Regulations keep corporations honest and prevent them from harming us.

* Harms environmental regulations in counties that are part of the TPP.

The corporations are now done writing their secret trade agreement, and Congress now has to vote up or down on the law. The Obama administration is seeking “fast track” authority from Congress in order to complete the negotiations. This means there will be no committee hearings, expert testimony or amendments. The Obama administration is taking this anti-democratic approach because they know if this treaty was debated, it would never become law.

              – SHAFTA, Id.

Read that again.  Let it sink in.

Last week, prior to the vote and temporary corporate profit defeat, I called my Congress Critter, one Rick Allen, for his input.  While I live in his District, he does not necessarily represent me.  Since the departure of Ron Paul I have had no semblance of representation in Washington.  So it goes.

Amerika being what it is these day I was unable to speak directly with my employee. Rather, I had a conversation with a polite young fellow named Eric.  He laughed and admitted, yes, much of the Bill is secret. (F’ing hilarious!) He did note that I could read all about the public parts – see Thomas quotes, above.  True to his position and the nature of his work he would not say definitively whether my boy Allen was in favor of sending more jobs oversees and more money to Wall Street.

As an aside, Allen did vote against the Bill.  Then he immediately voted to keep it alive for future consideration.  How very political of him.

Eric was well aware of the TPA chant at the baseball game.  Though he was not present he did state that several of his office mates were.  I warned him of what Marcus Aurelius said about this kind of thing.  The Roman leader and philosopher was solidly against jingoistic public displays of partisan passion.  My warning was likely lost – then and now.

If you care you may contact some staffer of your “representative,” whoever that may be.  Just click this little link to locate your dedicated servant: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/.

You may be able to visually pick him/her out of the following picture.  This photograph is of a general Congressional pow-wow over the Bill last week:

Last week I brought you the disturbing news about one of our beloved political “leaders” – Rodentia Americanus Denny Hastert.  Yes, I have already convicted the filth by way of opinion but, then again, I know these people – I have no doubts here.  They possess an evil aura or force one can actually feel like a slap in the face.  Long days I spent in the dreadful confines of the Dark City on the Potomac with them.  I would rather not recount those experiences and I never want to go back there again. It is my mission to do what I can to disrupt their Satanic plans for you and yours.

I caught a little hell from the GOP peanut gallery.  Yes, the Democrats do the same things.  I never said they do not.  As the RepubliCONS are held to some mythical standard of purity I find it much more interesting when they (always) fall from grace. The truth is they have no grace, no souls, no redeeming qualities.  Keep your partisan political-centric idiocy to yourself.

More has emerged on the sordid life and times (crimes) of Denny “The Molester” Hastert – out of the closet, one might say. One victim of the former House Speaker has been identified as Steve Rieboldt (deceased).

I knew Denny had picked on one of the younger, lesser members of his available pool of victims.  This is the way of the wolf; always going for the weak.  The young man (and I know there were more) was the wrestling team manager (the towel boy) back in the 70’s in Illinois.  He probably loved the sport and wanted to be around it while lacking the necessary physicality to compete.  He probably, more than any other squad member, had to spend time with his demented teacher.

Rieboldt’s sister, Jolene, spent years trying to bring this horrible abuse to light.  Her brother died in 1995 thanks in part to the lifestyle imparted by the Speaker.  That rat, then a corpulent member of Congress, had the audacity to appear at the funeral.  Jolene confronted him boldly:

“I was just there just trying to bite my tongue thinking that blood was coming out because I was just… So after he had gone through the line I followed him out into the parking lot of the funeral home,” Jolene said. “I said, ‘I want to know why you did what you did to my brother.’ And he just stood there and stared at me. He didn’t say, ‘What are you talking about?’ you know, [or], ‘What? I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ He just stood there and stared at me.

“Then I just continued to say, ‘I want you to know your secret didn’t die in there with my brother. And I want you to remember that I’m out here and that I know.’ And again, he just stood there and he did not say a word.”

Hastert got in his car and drove away. Jolene said Hastert’s non-response “said everything.”

 – Jolene Rieboldt, ABC News.

God bless this strong and devoted sister.

Republicans are supposed to be the American tough guys.  They stand for national defense, guns, and self-reliance.  Bullshit, all of it.  Note that this perverted freak didn’t have the nerve to confront or even murmur a response to a woman.  Such it often is; those who prey on children are themselves the weakest, lowest bullies known to man. If confronted by an angry father or brother they will literally self destruct.

Hastert now stands accused by his own government of crimes against that government and the all-powerful banking lobby.  Laws like this serve only the powerful elite; they are a plague on the rest of us.  A real police entity, given to protecting people (not money), would go after this useless shit for what he did to children.  But, so we have it in modern Amerika.  Banks and money are protected at all costs.  The weak and innocent are left to fend for themselves or rely on our vigilant women for protection.

Think about this case the next time some damned elected “servant” grovels on TV about his plans to help you.  You’d be better off appealing directly to the assistance of the Devil himself.  Sic Semper Tyrannis!

The Evil of Two Lessers

I’ve been rambling much recently about the bottomless idiocy of the political set and their supporters among the public.  Today I was reminded of the old electoral saying, “picking the lesser of two evils.”  I changed it about for my title in order to make it more truthful.  Voters today have two nominal choices: filthy, disgusting Democrats and filthy, disgusting Republicans.  After years of studying these two groups the only difference I can see is in their names.

This morning I read more about the nefarious plans of John Boehner (Republican) and Barack Obama (Democrat). These two criminals (different parties, mind you) have discovered there are several jobs left in the U.S. and have crafted a new trade bill designed to stamp out those jobs.  I say designed but I can’t be sure.  The details of the law are secret.  So secret that the bill is currently locked up in the Capital basement.

Allegedly this law would give the President new dictatorial powers over global trade (read: to ship out American jobs and impoverish the nation).  Why on earth does the most powerful man in the world need more power?  And if your Republicans are philosophically at odds with the Democrats, why the mad rush to help them gain that power?

In truth these two groups are one and work solely for their own ends.  You and I are merely their pawns.  Please don’t actively support them and their ever-spreading evil.

Despicable Denny Proves a Point (Several in Fact)

Warning: the subject matter de jure is downright sickening.  The other day I stated that I really hate politicians.  If you’ve ever met or smelled one, then you understand.

News came last week of the indictment of yet another filthy, criminal pol.  It was spun in rather drab fashion I think.  People are so used to this sort of thing it’s not really news anymore. Yet, and still, the people clamor for their “representatives” whenever an election comes to town.  That’s proven point number one – the public is composed of voting idiots.

Dennis “Denny” Hastert was a Republican Congress-criter from Illinois. He served as the 59th Speaker of the House from 1999 until 2007. This coincided, largely, with the reign of Jorge Bush, the Dimmer.

You may recall how Hastert helped Bush double the national debt while creating new cabinet agencies and several undeclared wars – conservative stuff.  Proven point number two – politicians of any party and their governments are a band of criminals and the scourge of civilization.  Denny’s House Whip (the following story lends new and lurid speculation as to this term) was Tom DeLay. DeLay narrowly avoided a felony conviction and prison for election violations in Texas.  Hastert now faces felony charges of his own from the federal government.

Remember my piece on “Structuring?”  No?  Read it again for good measure.

Cash transactions in excess of $10,000 are automatically flagged by banks and referred to the FBI for investigation. No crime needs be committed.  Just withdrawing your own money for any reason is suspicious enough for the ever-nosey feds to examine.  One would think they’d be busy fighting terrorists or child rapists or something.

Anyway, it is also illegal to split cash deposits or withdrawals into smaller increments so as to evade the reporting process. It seems criminal intent is in the Eye of Sauron of the government beholder.  Consult the U.S. Code – 31 U.S.C. 5324 – for specifics on this idiotic law.

Dear Denny has been charged with structuring his cash withdrawals.  Some time ago he began to withdraw $50,000 at a time from his bank accounts.  Five times the “legal” limit, these transactions were automatically flagged.  The bank or the cops must have informed Denny because he began to make withdrawals (lots of them) at just under the $10,000 limit.  Denny withdrew several million dollars in such fashion.

These lesser withdrawals were noted by the bank.  Concerned Denny was being blackmailed or something, the bank reported the new, lower withdrawals to the Empire. While any cash transaction over $10,000 must be automatically reported any amount the bank deems suspicious can be reported on a “STR” or suspicious transactions report.

Let’s be clear for a second.  Your money is your money.  You have the right to do whatever you want with it and in any amount or combinations of amounts.  It is your damned property.  Or you should have the right.  The government and “your” bank are infringing your rights.  Thus, poor Denny is a victim of this Draconian, illegitimate law. Point number three – federal banking laws exist to control and hurt people.

Denny is also charged with lying to federal officials.  This proves another point of mine – do not talk to any officers or agents of any police force – ever.  If you’re not talking, you’re not lying.  Point four – do not talk to the cops.

It turns out Denny had a rather pressing reason to move his funds around as he did. Before Denny descended into the cesspool of Washington he was a fat teacher and wrestling coach at a high school in a small Illinois town.  Either from a deranged mind or a strategic training regimen for his future political career Denny began to sexually molest one (or more) of his underage male charges.

I have not researched the specifics of these allegations and I do not plan to.  I will assume they were lecherous, debased acts of the Jerry Sandusky variety.  It is technically possible Denny is innocent in this matter (the sex matter).  It is also technically possible a black hole will materialize overnight and swallow the sun, thus bringing a tomorrow without dawn.  The odds of both are roughly equal though weighted in favor of the astronomical anomaly.  Denny obtained the cash in order to pay off his would be accuser(s).  Child molestation or rape charges don’t help a grafting political career and may cause inconvenient jail time.

I imagine these boys (or boy) were younger and smaller than most.  Predators seek out the weaker members of the herd for attack.  In any event they were young men, children, in need of molding and guidance.  Instead, they suffered physical trauma and psychological damage no-one, especially a child, should ever experience.

Men (and women) who molest children should be disposed of in the most brutal manner conceivable.  Hastert, Sandusky, Michael Jackson, that lowlife down the block – not one of them contributes to society and each is a unacceptible danger.  Hang them from the highest trees.  This is point five:  “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:6 (KJV)(mind you, Jesus says this tortuous execution would be better than what awaits the degenerate in Hell).

deeny the queer

(Cash, rape and politics.  Ready the millstone.  Chicago Tribune.)

One would think the government would be more interested in prosecuting child rape than imagined financial irregularities.  One would be wrong in America.  Jesse Ventura once noted the excellent point that people under the age of 21 are treated as children in America, forbidden to drink alcohol by the government.  The same government sends people under 21 off to war to die in jungles and deserts.  Thus, the U.S. government sends children to war.  This is a war crime under the Geneva Convention.

Sad, but true, in America the government cares more amount money and systemic process than about protecting innocent children.  Given enough time to metastasize all governments eventually behave with such disregard for morality.  This brings up point number six – government is utterly useless and extraordinarily dangerous. Tell that to the Diebold voting machine next time you are asked to sanction the system.

Political Party Time!

I hate politicians.  In Christian terms it is wrong to hate any man.  Politicians are less men than rodents.  Thus, I feel exonerated in my feelings.  Elections are exercises in stupidity and herd-think.  Presidential elections are the worst.

H. L. Mencken summed it up best: “All of the great patriots now engaged in edging and squirming their way toward the Presidency of the Republic run true to form. That is to say, they are all extremely wary, and all more or less palpable frauds. What they want, primarily, is the job; the necessary equipment of inescapable issues, immutable principles and soaring ideals can wait until it becomes more certain which way the mob will be whooping.”  Mencken, 1920.

The difference between 1920 and 2015 is that, back then, there were people pretending to be true patriots.  At some point they dropped the pretense and proceeded from a desire for pure, unadulterated power.  The mob of the American people conveniently ignore this fact.  The television is just too entertaining to disagree with.  The country sinks lower into the sewer of politics.

A political “party” sounds like a fun time until one realizes the term refers not so much to an event as to a lowest, dumbest degenerates ever assembled under the sun (in truth, like all roaches, they prefer the darkness).  Washington warned against them. Mencken ridiculed them.  The people, ever plumbing the depths of stupidity, embrace them with jealous fervor.  It’s “us” Democrats against “them” Republicans and visa versa.  Spare the sane the idiocy of it all.

America is dominated by two predominate political parties.  They are nominally referred to as conservatives and liberals.  As I see it they both liberally dispense what may be conservatively described as bullshit.  The people seem to like it.

Third parties exist, apparently to provide comic relief for the big two.  I experimented with what I thought the most honest of these alternatives, the Libertarians.  Given the choice I would gladly be ruled by Libertarian politicians than those which currently plague us.  However, given power, I am sure they would be corrupted by the mainstream of political discourse.  Anarchy is the only happy solution.  The people do not like happy solutions.  Thus, we are suck with the rats and the roaches.

These parties care nothing about you.  They’re priorities are: bankers, Israel (Likudniks), and anyone else.  Not you.  Not me.

I am sick of this G*****ned nonsense and what it to f**king stop.  Okay? There is no difference between Democrats and Republicans!  They respect and represent neither democracy nor any republic.

fiscal-irresponsibility

(Different approach, same results.  Google.)

An illustrative story from the popular news presses:

If the God-fearing Republicans exist to save us from the Godless, communist Democrats, then why are Republicans Rallying to Save Obama’s Secret Trade Deal?  You can read more about this phenomenon here and here and here.

I’m not entirely sure what this new “secret” trade deal means for America.  But, first, it’s secret.  That means bad when it comes from Washington.  Second, it’s a trade deal. NAFTA and CAFTA, etc. have given American the SHAFTA.  I remember being lied to about NAFTA.  The dirty manufacturing jobs of old, they said, would give way to a new world of high-paying service jobs which would benefit everyone.

In truth, we have lost the industrial work, pay and all.  In exchange we have gained menial minimum wage employment serving hamburgers and such.  Robots and immigrants and Indians now do the productive work for real pay.  What a change.

I’m sure the new law – sure to happen – will be more of the same.  It supposedly grants the President new powers concerning foreign trade.  I understand Obama caught wind of a few, final high-paying jobs left in American and is determined to stamp them out. The displaced workers will receive healthcare and cell phones for the bargain – at a cost.

A few Democrats and Rand Paul (son of the mighty Ron Paul), realizing the potential liabilities of robbing the people of their last shot at the American Dream, have stood in the way.  Paul filibustered against the deal in the Senate.  His speech fell of deaf and stupid ears.  The President will get his way, supported by the “conservative” opposition.  Trade will be geared ever towards non-American interests.  Americans will lose jobs.  Reality TV will continue to be popular among the uneducated rabble.

Just remember this when the election rolls around and the Bush/Romney/Christie machine makes the usual patriotic rumblings.  Remember it when Hitlary bashes the GOP for being unsupportive of freedom.  Blah, blah.  Sounds like the same old BS to me.

Remember, if you can, how the various Democratic Congresses and Bill Clinton ran up the national debt, creating new and useless government programs along the way.  George Bush, the dimmer, was elected to change all that.  He promptly created new agencies and doubled the debt while commencing new wars everywhere.  His Excellency, Barack Hussein Osama, was elected to reverse course.  Dutifully, he doubled the debt again while continuing and adding to the wars.  Now he wants to finish off the trade work began by Clinton and Bush the Vomiter.  I see a conspiracy.

The people, bloated by beer and television see nothing.  They hear nothing.  They say nothing.  One of the new fools (or an old fool) foisted upon us by the elite will be the next President.  Business will continue as usual.

Spare me your partisan rhetoric this year and next.

Democracy in America: A Charming Children’s Story

Last week I mentioned that an election was coming.  I also presented my own favorite candidate – Frank the Frog.  Frank will not win and the election is in vain.  Vote if you care.  I don’t.

The Illustrious Barry Hussein El Islam Muhammad Obama the Magnificent has finished the job begun by his predecessors – the country is in ruins.  For his replacement the Democrats have dug to the very bottom of the bag of wrinkled has-beens, to one Hillary Clinton, the wife of “good times Bill, the slickster.”

The Republicans have other, similar ideas.  They would foist upon the people yet a third member of the Bush clan.  Obviously, the people are okay with two families maintaining a grip on national power for two or three or five decades.  Their business.  Is there some national obsession with rats and roaches of which I am not completely aware?

In Iowa the Republicans “think they must soften their image and expand their appeal in particular to women and Latino voters.”  I assume women and Latinos enjoy constant war, perpetual debt and crushing loads of government buffoonery.  Again, their business.

However, down in South Carolina, the GOP still caters to the Budweiser and NASCAR crowd.  There, apparently, women and Latinos are still at odds.  A woman, who had once been a Democrat, shouted, “People are coming in this country across the borders like rats and roaches in the woodpile! … The audience applauded.  She complained that states were registering people to vote and failing to ‘check them out.’ ‘We’ve got to get control,'” she bellowed while munching on a Twinkie.

“You would think that after all this time conservative conference planners would have learned the one most important lesson about conservative conferences: Never let the audience speak. Ever.”  They don’t learn.  No-one learns.  Ten thousand years of history demonstrate unequivocally than government does not work.  Democrats love it. Republicans still love it.  The people hoot and holler like chimps in a cage.

Capture

(Large gathering of fat, illiterate white people.  Google.)

The universal message provided by the freedom-loving Republican candidates may be summarized as follows: more war!; Mexicans bad!; Muslims bad!; Democrats bad!; give taxes to banksters!; huff; puff.

472763392

(Bubba believes in the flag.  Google/Getty.)

Such fairy tales are humorous but foolish when taken seriously.  If the Democrats false egalitarianism had been real thirty years ago things might be better today.  If flag-worshipping Republicans actually had sought freedom, things might be better.  In reality, their lies and deceit have done us in.

Following his in-depth observations of early nineteenth-century America, Frenchman Alexis de Tocqueville, wrote Democracy in America, 1835.  The book is a masterful account of the political and demographic expanse of early America.

De Tocqueville wrote of the three races in the new world at that time: whites, blacks, and indians.  He proposed that whites and blacks would have to get along together in a future in which they formed the vast majority of the populace.  The fate of the native people seemed doubtful to Tocqueville.  Sensing there would be unnecessary, faction-based strife among the people for years to come, he refrained from any ultimate prediction in favor of a “time will tell” conclusion.

Time has told.  Following the two major parties, the people have chosen a sort of mass suicide followed by uncertain government managed life support.  Currently, while the bloated carcass of the American public drools on the gurney, the plug is being pulled.

This all leads me to a charming little tale, told in the far distant future.

In the cold winter of 3187, in the nation of Utopia, two young children dined with their old grandfather.  Following their meal the children enjoyed a brief holographic conversation with their parents.  Mom and Dad were enjoying a well deserved vacation on Mars.

As the evening deepened outside grandpa built a cozy fire on the hearth.

“Come and tell me about your school day,” he eagerly beckoned.  Little Timmy and Suzy recounted with wonder the day’s history lesson.  “Teacher read to us from an old book by Alex Me Folkville!,” volunteered Timmy.  “It was all about the ancient Americans,” exclaimed Suzy.

Timmy inquired of the smiling old man, “Have you ever heard of the Americans?”

“Yes, they were once a great people,” said Grandpa with a sigh.

“What happened to them,” asked Suzy, snuggling under Grandpa’s flannel-clad arm.

(A future history unfolds.  Google.)

“Well, if you really want to know, I can tell you of the Americans and their strange fate.”  Grandpa began:

A long, long time ago in a land far away, a group of wise men built up a great nation. The people were virtuous and hard-working.  Sure, they had their troubles, but they always tried to resolve them.

In such fashion they became wealthy, powerful, and happy.  They, it were, who invented many of the things we enjoy today – airplanes, spaceships, and cheeseburgers.

Just when they reached the zenith of their prosperity a funny thing happened…

“What’s a ‘zenith’,” asked Timmy as he enjoyed the wood fire.

“‘Zenith’ means ‘height’ or ‘best’,” answered Grandpa.  He continued:

The Americans were a diverse and happy people. De Tocqueville, your Me Folkville, noted their main divisions – white, black and indian or Mexican.  But, for reasons no-one really understands, they all fell under the dominion of two parties of deranged fools.  When I was a lad our teachers referred to the two groups as the rats and the roaches.  I think their real names were the Democrats and the Republicans.

Inexplicably, the free people of America, the most self-reliant and strongest of all people on earth, ceded all control of their lives to the most vile, idiotic, debased and degenerate lowlifes imaginable.

Every few years or so the people would hold a big popularity contest.  There was no need.  Everything was fine as it was.  But the rats … the Democrats and Republicans convinced the people there was good reason to place them in power.  The people filled their time with television, sports, food, and other trivialities.  Politically, they adopted an ‘us’ verses ‘them’ mentality.

Slowly, the politicians took control.  They perverted everything good about America. They made war on all other peoples just for the fun of it.  They spent money to the point the money had no value.  They encouraged the people to hate each other and themselves.  The times were vicious and confusing.

At last, in the middle of the 21st century, things fell apart.  All those great Americans had become a host of overweight, lazy, angry couch potatoes.  They traded their freedom for false security.  They were all on welfare. The world hated them.  They were poor.  They had no purpose.

The politicians and their huckster friends took the last of the money and fled abroad. The people were left in abject squalor.  Bereft of their jobs, their entertainment and their dignity they resorted to primitive tribalism.

The indians/Mexicans were centered in the southwest.  One day it was discovered that there was not a drop of water left there.  The Mexicans, those who survived, all returned to Mexico.

The southeast of the country was inhabited almost entirely by blacks.  In their collective psychosis, they decided to revert to an earlier way of life.  They decided to become slaves on various cotton plantations under the rule of white masters.  Lacking real whites, they appointed several of their own number to serve in this role.  They fared poorly and became extinct.

The whites fared no better.  Living mostly in the mountainous west, after a night of hard-drinking, they became enamoured of the idea of re-enacting the cowboy and indian wars of old.  As all real indians were then fled to Mexico, they held a giant game of shirts and skins amongst themselves. Thus, they uniformly perished.

The great American northeast, cradle of the original nation, was inhabited by one man – a Canadian named Jacque Strapp.  It was never known what became of him.

So the great land became uninhabited.  The old forests overtook the cities and after a whil, few traces of civilization remained.  And now, it is all history.  It happened so long ago…

“Would you like to live like the Americans?” Grandpa asked the children.  “Would you vote for fool politicians to ruin and destroy your lives?”

“No!” yelled both of the little ones in unison.

“Well then, good! Let us enjoy the fire,” said grandpa.

So ends the tale yet untold.  Will it become a reality?  Do we, the living, have the ability to change our fates and future history?

Will you continue to vote for your own destruction?

I hope not.  Take a queue from Timmy and Suzy.  Dispense with the rats and roaches of democracy.

“Your” government is officially far past the point where it could be possibly reigned in. Next year must hold in store an election.  I keep hearing and reading that the Republicans and Democrats are preparing their usual assortment of tired psychopaths from which the little people are to select their future “leadership.”  It could be that I have stepped through a worm hole to the past because I keep hearing names like Bush and Clinton.

As George Carlin used to say, “this is the best we can do.”  It will never get better. Incredibly, it gets worse every four years.  I gave up on voting and political participation a long time ago.  I stand by my statement that the last, best chance we had to save the Republic was to elect Ron Paul President in 2008.  We missed it.  Today, I lead a happy life of personal anarchy.  My only involvement with the government is paying taxes and evading the traffic cops.  It works well.  The sheep still don’t see it.

You may have seen or read about the increasing militarization of government forces – the blurring of lines between domestic police and the standing martial army.  I wrote about it previously.

pi052704a1

(USA! USA!  Google.)

Speaking of blurred lines, I, being a recovering attorney, am THE expert on the Posse Comitatus Act (PCA).  The PCA was put into place many, many years ago to halt the use of military forces from providing ordinary law enforcement within the territorial confines of the U.S.  It has not worked.

Law after law and action after action have provided a myriad of exemptions to the PCA. Drugs, terror, riots, training – you name it.  The PCA is moot.

So it is today that most highly trained, deadliest and most feared elements of our armed forces – the special forces – are on the streets training with local police agencies.  It’s like Barney Fife meeting the Seals in Mayberry.  Otis better watch out.

The purpose of elite military forces is to carry out daring missions ABROAD (not at home) in order to disrupt enemy activities with minimal effort or notice.  They are the last force one should want operating amidst the people at home.  This too is lost on the MTV-watching public.

The people are afraid of everything.  Should the government announce pillow cases are tools of terrorism, the people will dutifully burn pillow cases in the town square.  The fools will demand and cheer as the government bombs pillow factories in places like Libya and Iraq.  Imaginary specters are fought with ferocity and pomp.

Meanwhile, real threats go virtually unnoticed.  Recently, the same week that saw the U.S. military engage in various live terror trainings in the Southwest (against fictitious enemies) saw real terrorists attack a cartoon convention in Texas.  Thankfully, for us, the sane, Texas is not Paris.  In the Lone Star State, muslin extremist face summary execution from even lone police officers.  Don’t mess with Texas.  But, no-one else has drawn the corollary (or disconnect) here.  The vaunted military trains for an attack the police can’t handle at the same time the police handle an attack the military can’t.  So it goes.

The sheep graze on.  Fox News, radio talkers and modern “churches” have instilled in the ignorant people a sense of worship for all things military, all things government – so long as it’s the American military and government.  When two groups of drunks meet at the beach, and fight, the sympathy of the nation goes to that group of martial disposition.  No mind is given to reality.

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has just tried to put the brakes on the monstrosity known as the USA Patriot Act.  The Act was intended to grant additional unchecked power to the central government.  Some in the Judiciary have noted this and its underlying illegality.  It does not matter, as Ron Paul notes.  The Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama/Bush/Clinton/Etc. executive is above the law and will refuse to abide by any Court ruling which limits their authority.  The Courts, truly least of the three branches, are powerless to enforce their rulings.  The Congress, fat, bribed and stoned into complacency, will do nothing.  The sheep graze.

So, pontificate as you will about the coming election.  I may listen but I won’t respond. I’m not rude, it’s just that I don’t believe in fairy tales no matter how entertaining. Next November, you go out and waste your time and energy, saving us from the other side. Afterwards, you may find me at the local bar or cigar shop doing what I do.  Or, you could just join me in freedom land.  Your choice.

Today I spoke to the Augusta, GA Libertarian Party about citizen-police encounters, especially when the citizen is armed.  What a great group!  You can view my presentation materials here: https://perrinlovett.wordpress.com/2013/02/28/march-10-2013-libertarian-party-event-bullett-points/.  It’s a shortened version of How to Interact With the Police, https://perrinlovett.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/how-to-interact-with-the-police/. I think How to Interact may be one of my most popular posts yet.  After the great reception today and some of the feedback I got, I think a follow-up of some sort may be in order.

I decided to where a suit and tie to the event today.

0310131318

(Who the hell is the thin dude???)

Unless they’re Christmas ties, I generally do not like ties.  They remind me of upside-down silk nooses.  I only don ties when I go to court.  In fact, today when I revved up I ditched the tie and jacket.  But, I had to wear them.  You see, for many years I have had a closet full of really nice suits I couldn’t fit into.  I think the one above is an Austin Reed, if that means anything.  Thanks to my exercise program and diet, which I think I will patent and hawk on TV, not only do those suits fit – they’re a little loose!  My fat suits may need serious surgery.

0310131319

(Me.  Thin.  In a suit.  With no cigar or beard…  Yes, really me.)

I brought my daughter along for the fun.  She did great until I went on a little too long – she got up and told me it was time to leave…  Thank you, sweetie!!!  We had strawberries and a visit to her little friend’s house as a reward.

0310131321

(Daddy’s little helper.)

I love talking to and with libertarians, big or small “l.”  They are the few who prefer liberty, as Sallust suggested 2000 years ago.  And, as a rule, they are informed, engaging, and very very nice.  Today was no exception.  I fielded questions throughout the presentation, questions that greatly contributed to the overall topic.  I also discussed the possibility of addressing other groups.  I even offered to “debate” any communist or other hack they could dig up at Augusta State (GRU U) on the subject of gun control.  It seems there is still doubt as to what the Second Amendment really means, even after Heller, Parker, and MacDonald, and a slew of other cases.  I intend to write a clarifying post soon – particularly as to what part the people play with relation to the militia and where the militia stands with regard to the Imperial military (totally different birds).

I always learn something at these types of events, even when I’m the presenter.  Speaking of the militia, today I learned that federal and state law enforcement, in conjunction with the MARINE CORPS!, has been conducting hypothetical war games in our area – against the Georgia militia!  These exercises take place next door in South Carolina.  I think I will write both governors and the interloper in the White House and ask if they would like the Georgia Militia to actively participate!  I will lead the effort, if mr. Deal will allow it and appoint me as a Colonel or General or something.  Men, I may be calling on you soon.  If nothing else, I will demand to know why the USMC is drilling against the people of our state.  Have they killed off all “tha taaarrists”???

The news:

Maybe we are the terrorists now.  According to Washington’s puppet, Hamid Karzai, the U.S. is colluding with the Taliban.  Remember them?  They were our allies in the 1980s, who betrayed us on 9/11 and now, after 12 years of war, have become our allies again?  I’m confused too.  Kind of like al-CIA-da – the terror group developed by Washington during the cold war, who became our enemies in 2001, only to get our help in Libya, Syria, etc.  Foreign entanglements, gotta love em.

In other news, Atlanta is now being called the “Detroit of the South” – that can’t be good.  More and more suburbs are seceding to get away from the crime, corruption and financial burdens of the Big Peach.  I have heard rumors that northern Fulton County may split and reform Milton County or whatever it was called 90 years ago.  Peachy.

More rumors – the RepubliCONS, all hyped up on something, are vowing to budget Obamacare away sometime in the future.  I have a shiny nickel that says they don’t.

That’s all for now.  Many thanks again to Amanda, Rocky and my gracious hosts today.  They even gave me a trio of books I have not read before – one about Bastiat!  This looks to be a great week.  I’m planning some terrific columns and maybe a site upgrade or two.  See you tomorrow!

Interposition, Nullification, and Secession

Last year I started this humble blog with a short column on the unGodly ObamaCare decision from the Supreme Court, https://perrinlovett.wordpress.com/2012/06/28/the-shared-responsibility-tax-obamacare-a-hit-with-the-supremes-4/.  ObamaCare is not about healthcare for anyone.  It is merely an Insurance Company welfare scheme with taxes that no-one knew were taxes (not even Obama) and bankruptcy-inducing mandates.

At the end of that early missive I promised to cover possible solutions to the mounting problem of federal tyranny.  Specifically, I named interposition, nullification, and secession as possibilities.  Let’s talk about those now, briefly.

Well, first let’s see how the Republicans did with reversing the law as they boasted they would.  I recall some GOPer saying they would overturn the nightmarish law before the Supremes even got to rule on it.  Didn’t happen.  After the ruling they said they would eliminate the massive tax act before their chosen man, Mittens Romney, the founder of the ObamaCare School of Medicine, won the election.  None of that happened either.  With the nation staring down the barrel of a potentially economy-wrecking gun, they said they would stop the law before it took effect on January 1st of this year.  Having proven themselves to be lying, delusional idiots, we can write off the buffoons of the Elaphantitis party.

Back to my proposals – I’ll take them in the order I first set forth, as that seems to be the hierarchy from least to most extreme.

Interposition

Interposition is a process whereby a State of the American Union declares an Act of Congress or some other federal action to be UnConstitutional and positions itself as a shield between the feds and the citizens of the State.  Wikipedia says that the federal courts have held this an illegitimate theory and that only they have the power of Constitutional review – “Judicial Review.”  See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interposition.  Wiki doesn’t mention it by name, but the theory of Judicial Review originated, federally speaking, in the case of Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. 137 (1803).   Maybe you’ve heard of this landmark case, students of “Constitutional Law” are taught to revere it.  I was never impressed.

First, this was one of a shady series of early Supreme Court cases concerning personal profits unfit for court review at all.  Second, if this case did deserve formal investigation and resolution, then such should have been undertaken by the political branches whom the matter concerned anyway.  Third, and most importantly, judicial review by the federal courts is a legal fiction.  Nowhere in the Constitution is the right granted the courts to rule so authoritatively on our laws.  Had the Framers intended such power, they would have written it in; several State Constitutions do grant this power to State Courts (Georgia, for example).

I do not withhold the ability of any court to say a law is UnConstitutional.  Courts should point such out when discovered.  In fact, any branch may make that determination.  President Bush, the Dimmer, said that the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance law was UnConstitutional, then signed it anyway.  Before that, obviously, Congress had deliberated on the law and must have sensed its illegality.  Bush remarked that the Supreme Court would have to make the ultimate determination.  They did.  Ironically, the Court essentially said (and rightly) the law concerned only the political branches and since both had approved the measure, they would too out of deference.  I had an outrageously humorous “discussion” about this fiasco with a political celebrity in 2004; I’ll relate that in a future post.  This was a case of government gone wild.  Of the three branches, law-making is the art of Congress; correcting bad laws is also.

Anyone who can read and think can declare a law within or without the bounds of the Constitution.  I do it all the time.  However, my power of enforcement is rather weak to say the least.  The theory of interposition, and that of nullification, comes from the ability of the States to so declare a law.  Their power is greater than mine and their authority is a bit more grounded than that of the Courts.  “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”  U.S. Const., Amendment 10.  UnConstitutional laws are those based in authority which is not among those very few expressly Constitutionally delegated powers of the national government ,and thus, are within the purview of the States to affect.  The Tenth Amendment’s reference to “the people” is as fuzzy a concept as anything else in man’s law.  Ultimately, under our form of republican government, the people have the final say on authority as exercised by their voting.  The people prove time and again to be useless guardians of their own liberties.

Interposition was made famous long ago by the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions (1798), which declared the States’ ability to invalidate federal law.  The practice was used to various effect in the 1800’s.  Times have changed dramatically (for the worse) since that Century, with the States giving away a great deal of their former power.  There was also the matter of the war between the States which decided by force and murder, rather than by law, some of these issues.

Nullification

Nullification is essentially Interposition but with an added declaration by a State or States they will not enforce a federal law or allow enforcement within their territory.  This theory was set forth also by the afore-noted Resolutions.  It has been erroneously dismissed by the courts.  And, it would seem to reside in a previous time.  The theory has raised its head recently though, as it does from time to time.  A few States have begun to void federal laws in principle at least.  Montana, for example, has decided that certain federal firearms laws do not apply within the Montana state lines.  It remains to be seen whether Montana or other modern States will actually take any action necessary to give life to their declarations.

In the old days, States did just that.  The 19th Century was repeat with State and local agents boldly denying the federal government on certain matters.  When a federal agent or officer appeared to enforce a particular objectionable action, the locals would run the fellow out of town on a rail, literally sometimes.  A great read on the subject is Thomas Woods’s Nullification (2010), http://www.amazon.com/Nullification-Resist-Federal-Tyranny-Century/dp/1596981490.

Again, with the demise of State power and authority in general (see the 16th and 17th Amendments, etc.) the plausibility of nullification seems a dim prospect.

Secession

Dimmer still, is the ultimate practice of State dissent.  The original 13 colonies of England, once they had declared their independence from the King, became 13 independent nations.  They joined together to fight the Revolutionary War and then entered into a Federation for mutual benefit.  A federation is a group of sovereign entities which come together for some purpose; they remain sovereign.  The Constitution changed none of this.  No language therein makes the federal union permanent and eternally binding upon the member States.

Should a State find itself at unacceptable odds with the central government, it has the power to dissolve its connections and become a completely separate nation again.  Several State assemblies expressly said so when they ratified the Constitution.  This is in complete keeping with the spirit of the Declaration of Independence, just substitute U.S.A. for King George, III.

Again, and again and again, the States have not only given up power to Washington over the years, they have also become somewhat dependent on D.C. and tend to exhibit a slavish loyalty thereto.  This all renders the prospect of a State succeeding in the 21st Century remote.  There are secessionist movements in some States, like the Free Vermont Republic.  The FVR even has its own flag, but little chance of success.

There is also the specter of Mr. Lincoln’s illegal war.  The war decided nothing formally or legally.  Wars are not rational undertaking, just pure contests of military power.  Since 1865 the several States have all but abandoned their military power while Washington has assembled the most awesome and dreaded arsenal in the history of mankind.  While secession remains a perfectly legal option, the odds of success do not favor the States.

Where We Are

In today’s political climate none of these three solutions are likely to receive formal discussion by the several States, let alone action.  Deprived of legal and political solutions, what then are we to do?

Some people with means are beginning to leave the United States for smaller, freer countries.  I do not begrudge them their decisions.  However, I do not like the idea of being run out of my homeland and into a foreign country where, as history dictates, anything can and will happen.  In a way, I would rather stay and face the devil I know here.

There is always the ability of the States or of Congress to call for a new Constitutional Amendment or even a Convention wherein objectionable laws might be remedied.  Amendments are hard to pass these days.  It’s hard to get Congress or the legislature of any State to act productively or intelligently.  Honestly, the idea of a new Constitutional Convention scares me.  While one could hypothetically end with great advances in Liberty, such as returning to the Articles of Confederation or just eliminating the national government completely, I fear, given the weakness of the people and their representatives, we could end up with something far worse.  Imagine 1984, Farenheit 451, Nazi Germany and the old Soviet Union all rolled into one!

Every two years or so the citizens of the States have the opportunity to turn out at least a third of the federal government’s elected morons.  The power to change the government lies with the people by their dismissing representatives who do not do their bidding.  The people must not be aware of this authority or else, they must approve of their government as is.  Options grow thin.

Time will eventually change everything.  5,000 years from now most people living won’t remember the United States.  Given the self-destructive tendencies of our government, it is likely we need not wait that long.  Either way, awaiting the inevitable collapse of leviathan, like expectations of the end of days, is tedious at best.

I’ll see if I can come up with something else more actionable.  You work on it too.
