That’s what their form editorial letter says in conjunction with their map. All part of the effort to get rid of all things Confederate – in public – in public for now… Have a look. (This has nothing, that I know of, to do with that other story about the SPLC hurrying to get cash overseas as fast as possible).

So much could be made of this yet I remain so tired. And I still owe you the tale of the bugs and such.

Maybe they’re right. Maybe the following just wasn’t enough: actually winning the Civil War; the 13th Amendment; the 14th Amendment; the KKK Act; the end of Jim Crow; Brown; the Civil Rights Act; integration; affirmative action; the death of Robert Byrd (KKK, WV); and the two terms of Hussein Obama. Maybe all that’s needed is yanking down a few schools, roads, army bases, (presumably) CSA graves and, of course, the public monuments.

On the subject of just removal, we could start with that monument to Marx on Washington Avenue in Montgomery.

Ahem. Missed another day. Sorry. Won’t happen again.

To make up for it I thought to regale y’all with the Tale of the Great Plecia Nearctica Internecion of 2017 (recently occurred). That shall wait for another day and perhaps a poetic dissertation. Maybe as a paid feature through my equally neglected Patreon Page. Maybe. Perhaps. Ahem.

It got ugly before it got sad.

Anyhow, with the silliness aside now, I give you Mark Nestmann’s take on the coming government shutdown that won’t be a real shutdown and probably won’t even happen.

On or around October 2, the US federal government will shut down – again. The actual date could be a bit earlier or later, depending on how the government’s cash flows.

Technically, the government should have shut down on March 15, 2017. That was the date that a congressionally approved temporary extension of the debt ceiling expired. So on that date, the amount of debt on the books ($19.808 trillion) became the new debt ceiling. Since then, the Treasury hasn’t been able to issue any more federal debt.

Instead of shutting down the government, the Treasury has been cooking the books to pay the bills. Payments to federal worker’s retirement and disability funds have ended. The Treasury has also borrowed against federal pension, Social Security, and Medicare trust funds. But that can only go on so long. Without congressional authorization to raise the debt ceiling, some government services will have to end in about a month.

President Trump and congressional leaders want to raise the debt ceiling without any more restrictions. It’s easy to see why. Politicians get re-elected when they spend money on things that benefit voters, and just as importantly, when they spend on things that benefit the people and corporations that finance their campaigns.

But the influential Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives opposes an unlimited increase in the debt ceiling. It favors raising the debt ceiling “only” an additional $1.5 trillion – just enough to keep the government afloat until after the mid-term elections in November 2018. The Freedom Caucus also wants to cut federal spending. Trump and congressional leaders have to take the Freedom Caucus seriously because the Freedom Caucus’s opposition to the partial repeal of Obamacare doomed that initiative earlier this year.

…

It’s reassuring that the staunch conservatives and libertarians from the Caucus want to hold at a measly $1.5 Trillion. Why not cut the crap and make it $1.5 Quadrillion? Maybe a little more?

As I did back in ’95 I support the shutdown (that won’t happen). Houston looters can fill in for the IRS. Drunk monkeys can sufficiently steer the 7th Fleet. And, I tell you from experience, you can still use the National Parks – actually easier without rangers around if you don’t mind jumping gates.

Make of this what you will.

And be careful driving through those cotton fields!

Any disaster will feature some low-down opportunistic looters:

Acevedo also said officers are focused on protecting the city from looters as floodwater recede.

“We’ve already arrested a handful of looters. We’ve made it real clear to our community we’re going to do whatever it takes to protect their homes and their businesses,” Acevedo said. “And when people come from the outside to Houston, Texas, know we’re going to be out in the city, we’re not going to rest as a police department or law enforcement community until people restore their lives.”

But for every thief and thug, there’s still a real man in America: enter the Cajun Navy:

One year after the Cajun Navy fleet deployed to pluck stranded families from the flood waters that overwhelmed southeast Louisiana, the volunteer rescuers have mobilized again to help in the Houston area after heavy flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey.

A second wave of volunteers with the group gathered in Baton Rouge on Monday to head to the Houston area to provide additional support.

So, yesterday, after nearly 15 months of continuous daily posting, I slipped. There was no update of any kind for Saturday, August 26th. But for this sad marker there might been have nothing today…

You still came through as readers. Thanks. I wish I had a cool excuse, like being hacked by Anonymous. Actually, no… I was just busy. Happens.

Things should be back to normal by Wednesday, maybe tomorrow. See you then.

His own club, no less. I like Floyd Mayweather:

It’s 2:47 a.m. Thursday morning, maybe 66 hours from the richest fight of his career, and Floyd Mayweather is bouncing around the Girl Collection gentlemen’s club here.

All around him music booms and women dance and singles flitter through the air. Mayweather greets friends and checks in with management. This is his club. He bought it and opened it a few months back. It’s become a home away from home, including or even especially, during the grind of his final training camp, even here on fight week.

Some would wonder if hanging out in a gentlemen’s club into the wee hours of the morning is the best way to prepare for a fast approaching fight, but Mayweather laughs that off. He is, as a matter of point, 49-0 in his career heading into Saturday’s bout with Conor McGregor.

There is no one else on earth who knows more about not just what it takes to win, but to never lose.

Girl Collection… Daily Mail.

I like him so much to warn him or McGregor hooks, particularly the lefts. This should be a breeze for a boxer against MMA but I don’t think it will be. Part of me is calling McGregor by the 3rd with a KO. He can actually box though half of his arsenal (kicking and take-downs) will be off limits.

Should be a great fight.

I wonder if we can get Mayweather smoking cigars?

I recently pondered commenting on a few stories about laziness and obesity in China and the UK. Apparently it’s getting bad there and elsewhere. But nowhere is like the USA. We’re number 1! We’re number 1!

70%+ of Americans are either overweight or obese. Call me crazy but I’d rather we not rank in the top ten there.

Maybe Lou Ferrigno can help. The President is probably about to appoint The Hulk to head the President’s Council on Fitness.

UN Concerned with Racism in the USA

Of course, the story only reports the usual one side of the racial divide. And, as with anything from the UN, a grain of salt is in order. Yet, here, they may be on to something.

A UN committee tasked with combatting racism has issued a formal “early warning” over conditions in the United States, a rare move often used to signal the potential of a looming civil conflict.

The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said it had invoked its “early warning and urgent action procedure” because of the proliferation of racist demonstrations in the US.

It specifically noted the unrest in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which a woman was killed after an avowed white supremacist ploughed his car into a group of anti-racism counterprotestors.

The racism committee, part of the UN human rights office, can issue a formal early warning to help prevent “existing problems from escalating into conflict” or to “prevent a resumption of conflict where it has previously occurred”, according to the rights office website.

…

The US warning marks the seventh such alert issued in the past decade.

They mainly concern countries gripped by ethnic and religious strife, including Burundi, Nigeria, Iraq and Ivory Coast.

One wonders if this is escalation or resumption.

At any rate, at least we’re in good company. Burundi, Nigeria, Iraq, and Ivory Coast are all advanced nations with strong economies, nuclear power, outstanding schools, and thriving space programs… USA! USA! USA!

And this seeming a tad late for an early warning. Probably, the time for early action would have been in the 60’s, better addressing civil rights and halting the Immigration Act of 1965. The time for emergency action was probably 30 years ago. What comes now? Who knows? Peace and happiness, surely.

ESJWPN: Robert Lee has to Go…

ESPN, Robert E. Lee, SJW, society

I’m surprised they didn’t force him to change his name or fire him for refusing:

ESPN broadcaster Robert Lee will not work Virginia’s season opener because of recent violence in Charlottesville sparked by the decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

A spokeswoman for ESPN says Lee has been moved to Youngstown State’s game at Pittsburgh on the ACC Network on Sept. 2. The network says the decision was made “as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name.”

Plans to remove a statue of Lee led to a protest in Charlottesville earlier this month that attracted what is believed to be the largest group of white nationalists to come together in a decade. Violent clashes erupted between a large gathering of white nationalists and hundreds of counter protesters.

ESPN says the decision to put Lee on another game was made “collectively.” It also says it’s “a shame that this is even a topic of conversation.”

The shame is that any American still watches this failed, non sports-oriented network. This is what SJW convergence looks like.

Enjoy the market highs while they last:

HSBC Holdings Plc, Citigroup Inc. and Morgan Stanley see mounting evidence that global markets are in the last stage of their rallies before a downturn in the business cycle.

Analysts at the Wall Street behemoths cite signals including the breakdown of long-standing relationships between stocks, bonds and commodities as well as investors ignoring valuation fundamentals and data. It all means stock and credit markets are at risk of a painful drop.

Ron Paul says the drop could be up to 50%. He and Jim Rogers, etc. have been saying this for a while now. Even the Fed has begun issuing CYA statements. Nothing lasts forever and we’re overdue for a correction. Prepare now if you can.
