James’s 10 New Reasons You Have To Quit Your Job In 2017 (2 of 10):

G) YOUR BOSS HAS TO FIRE YOU

If you create $1 in value, and you have a boss, who has a boss, who has a boss, who has a board, who has shareholders….then how much of that dollar do you get to keep?

Well, now we know the answer. In the 1960s, a CEO might make five times the average employee.

Now a CEO makes 200 times the average employee. The answer: you get none of the dollar and the CEO gets all of it.

And what is that dollar? It’s money you created for the company. More of it should be yours. But every day less of it is yours.

Who will get fired first? The slave drivers or the slaves?

We know the answer. Executives took billions of dollars in bonuses when the banks got $600 billion in bailout money from the US government in 2009.

And everyone else got fired.

This is not a political opinion. Or a suggestion on how things could have been different.

But it’s this: now we know the answer.

H) YOU DON’T NEED THE JOB TO BE HAPPY

Depression is highest in fully employed, first world countries. The two highest countries for depression? France and the United States.

We simply were not made to work 60 hours a week. Archaeologists figure that our paleo ancestors “worked” maybe 12 hours a week.

And then they would play, in order to keep up the skills needed to hunt and forage, etc.

Why is work depressing? Not all of these reasons but maybe some of them.

Being bossed around by people we don’t respect.
Being forced to be friends just because they share our cubicle walls and hear all of our whispered pleadings with romantic partners as we try to be as quiet as possible.
Meetings
Seeing the 80/20 rule in action where 20% of the employees create 80% of the value and the other 80% just barely (desperately, fearfully) survive.
Being mandated by an 800 page guidebook how you can talk to people of the opposite sex or of different skin colors.
Seeing corporate political agendas rule over financial realities and not being able to say anything about it for fear of being fired.
Spending 6am to 7pm getting ready for work, commuting to work, working, commuting back, too tired to move when you return home.
Falling in love, getting rejected, and seeing her every day and then crying in my cubicle.
Or maybe that last one was just me. A lot of crying.

Jobs are not so great. And they cause a lot of suffering. And you don’t really need them. Bear with me.

You may not be ready to leave your job, but your job is ready to leave you. And the robots are beating on the door. Maybe it’s time to start thinking about alternatives.

By the way, therein James mentions Elon Musk’s idea of a “universal basic income” – guaranteed money for everyone when no one has a job. He’s not for it or against it – just a mention. That too is something to consider (that most will not). It is an idea that will not work. Part of the reason why lies in the hellish banking/monetary/taxation/debt system I covered (tried to) yesterday.

The world is changing – same as it ever has. It’s good to look around from time to time.

Christians, church, Donald Trump, evil, Satan, witches

Essential confirmation of my warning from last week about the plan of global Satanists to affect an early end of the Trump administration.

From the Catholic News Agency:

Spells can have power, according to Father Vincent Lampert, the designated exorcist for the archdiocese of Indianapolis since 2005 and also the pastor for St. Malachy in Indianapolis. “I think there’s power, but it’s not coming from God,” Father Lampert said. “Anyone who would dare say they want to challenge that God is in charge is using the power of evil as their own. They should realize that we can’t use the devil; the devil uses us. People can’t control it and the devil ends up using them for his own purposes.”

Spells, according to Father Lampert, only have an effect in people who are spiritually weak. If we are anchored in God, he said Scripture tells us we have nothing to fear. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places,” (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Father Lampert pointed out that in Deuteronomy 18:10-12, using witchcraft is condemned as detestable to God. He has known a few people who derive a sense of power and make money from people paying to have spells cast. Hundreds of people have come to Father Lampert for help after spells were cast on them.

The Solution

“You can’t stop someone from placing a curse, but as a Christian, if you are you praying to God and going to him, the curse will have no power,” Father Lampert said. For Catholics, he said going to Mass, receiving the Eucharist and going to Confession, is strong protection against evil. “Curses are effective when people are weak,” Father Lampert explained. “People are fearing devil more than trusting God.”

As for the call for those casting the spell, Father Lampert said they are relying on evil that feeds on anger and revenge. “The end result of all this for people will be to find themselves more deeply entangled with the devil,” he said. “Their lives will continue to spiral out of control because they do not have God as an anchor.”

One almost wonders how many crescent moons there are over the next four to eight years. Will they claim success after the next presidential election or after a finished second term? Would that amount to illegal election influence? Could they claim retroactive credit for the 22nd Amendment? It, while amusing, matters little.

As I warned, these are powers far beyond the control of people, powers better left completely alone. Once they are summoned, there is no telling how they will react nor what they will do.

Many would be pleased if this actually worked against Trump. The problem is that evil cannot accomplish good. I am not inclined to wish this kind of intervention on anyone – Trump, Obama, ISIS – literally no one is worth the risk nor deserves the implications. Enough harm and evil is done by man without recourse to the actual Devil. And I would wish even less to involve myself in the process. Often the conjurers are more targets than their intended victims.

Many refuse to acknowledge any of this exists in the first place. For many it is, all of it, ridiculous nonsense, baseless superstition. Given the ridiculous fiasco that is so much of modern, organized religion, that is somewhat understandable. Flawed but understandable.

Less understandable are the many “Christians” who attend church out of popular obligation while not comprehending at all what they experience through The Word. In their own way they embrace the attitude of superstition. It’s a country club affair for many, a social gathering. For others it is a club and a shield for self-righteousness. This is frequently accompanied by a desire to meld the teachings of the Church to the ways of the State: jingoistic national religion, more the former than the latter.

All the while, the Devil stalks. He’s out there of his own accord; leave him be. Regardless of the intent behind the invitation to let him in, he makes a most unwelcome guest.

The Diminishing Value of Degrees

college, economy, education, idiocy, intelligence, jobs

Over the past few years I have written extensively about the joke that is modern “higher” education. I started with my own experience. The only ideas I learned in college were essentially self-taught lessons in (elective) areas that interested me (philosophy, classics, etc.). Only too late did I realize my mistake with a business major. The only things I remember from business school is that: 1) about 3% of targeted people respond to advertising campaigns, and 2) let the calculator do the amortizations.

Law school was a similar fiasco. “Government good. Government all powerful. Government give some rights. Thanks be to government for government…” Bullsh!t! on that!

Lately I’ve explored the PC circus permanently encamped on our campuses. Outside of the hard sciences there is next to no education, just indoctrination in the wonders of victimhood, white guilt, and socialism. No formal learning. Anything of value actually picked up is done so incidentally and autodidactically. And they pay big money for all this garbage.

This is how it is possible for so many to come out of four, five, seven, and eight+ year programs and know nothing – literally with the experience and mentality of seven-year-olds (along with bad, snooty attitudes and loads of debt).

People outside the ivory towers are beginning to notice the decline. And they’re reacting accordingly:

Ernst & Young, one of the UK’s biggest graduate recruiters, has announced it will be removing the degree classification from its entry criteria, saying there is “no evidence” success at university correlates with achievement in later life.

In an unprecendented move, the accountancy firm is scrapping its policy of requiring a 2:1 and the equivalent of three B grades at A-level in order to open opportunities for talented individuals “regardless of their background”.

In other words, at Ernst, a college degree may be an enhancer for some, but it is no longer a base requirement. Why? Because, as stated, there’s no longer any evidence it means anything. Time was when a degree meant you had a smart, well-read, and hard-working man on your hands. Now, it likely means you’re interviewing an SJW, know-nothing, nitwit and future HR headache, someone who understands little and will accomplish even less. Ernst is not alone in this development.

Martin Armstrong also commented on this story:

The best education has ALWAYS been an apprenticeship – not some university course taught by someone who has never practiced what they teach.
Roman_school

In ancient Rome, at between nine and twelve years of age, boys from affluent families would leave their basic education behind and take up study with a grammaticus, who was a teacher that refined his students’ writing and speaking skills. They would be versed in the art of poetic analysis and taught them Greek if they did not yet know it. They would be taught logic and how to think. By this point, lower class boys would already be working as apprentices. If someone wanted to be a sculptor, he would apply to be an apprentice at a sculptor shop. Girls, both rich and poor, would be focused on making themselves attractive brides and, subsequently, capable mothers. It was the women who often ran the household.

We still have trade schools, which are regarded as less than university. Yet, our education in university was supposed to follow the Roman model of apprentice for the lower class and higher education for the upper class. But somehow, university moved beyond grammaticus and pretended to prepare someone for a skill, which the Roman system did not seek to accomplish – merely refine the character of the student.
Even economics at its beginning under Adam Smith was regarded as part of moral philosophy. Economics was not taught as a subject by itself until 1901.

From Greco-Roman through Victorian times, all trades worked through apprenticeships. All – cobblers, chimney-sweeps, sailors, lawyers, doctors, economists, teachers, masons, carpenters, manufacturers, salesmen, architects, fishermen – all of them offered apprenticeships.

Higher education, elite education, existed all throughout those times. It was intended, for those of given aptitude and circumstance, to gain a level of understanding and intellectual exposure above and beyond the ordinary – and above what was required in their chosen field of employment.

Socrates – no degrees. Leonidas Drosis (Athens) / Wikipedia.

Today, there are a precious few institutions still in business that provide the basics of a real advanced education. Very few and very far between. We’re lucky to have them.

We’re even luckier to have the internet. Essentially 100% of the contents of a good college curriculum are available on-line and mostly for free. Any enterprising person with a basic grasp of reading and math (all that’s afforded by most “lower” schools anyway) can learn anything they like about any given subject.

Share this information with young people you might know and care about. If you, at any age, want an education, then get one. Don’t fall for the modern college/student loan slavery trap. Learn what you like, in your own time, at your own pace. And forget the degrees – there’s “no evidence” they mean anything and they are no longer golden tickets (manacles, maybe; tickets, no).

More Computer Problems

computers, evil

Computers are the problem.

I long ago came to the conclusion that computers and related machines are evil beings sent from Hell to annoy us. And I say: “back to Hell with them!” All of it sucks – Apple, Chrome, IBM – all of it. Slow, weak, worthless. It all fails reliably on a daily basis (the only reliability). A 100-year-old typewriter runs rings around this “modern technology”.

Today’s affirmation comes courtesy of ScriveCast, the iOS app development app: pure, unadulterated, useless shit.

Thank you for indulging this luddite’s rant. Where’s my framing hammer?

Gaga-Gate: The Truth About Super Bowl LI

Thank God we know now just how the Falcons lost in such spectacular fashion. It wasn’t the Russians. It wasn’t Trump. The electoral college had nothing to do with it. The KKK was not involved. And it certainly wasn’t a lack of talent and discipline when facing a vastly superior team. No.

It was Lady Gaga. Atlanta WR Mohamed Sanu (rhymes with coo coo) explains:

Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu told the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football on Friday that Lady Gaga’s 40-minute halftime performance “definitely did” impact the team’s play in the second half.

“Usually, halftime is only like 15 minutes, and when you’re not on the field for like an hour, it’s just like going to work out, like a great workout, and you go sit on the couch for an hour and then try to start working out again,” Sanu said on the NFL Network, via by CBS Sports.

Sanu said he doesn’t “know if you can simulate something like” the lengthy halftime break.

Leading up to past Super Bowl appearances, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has had his team stop for a half hour in the middle of practice to simulate the halftime performance.

Bill was cheating again. Neither the Falcons, nor any other team, could ever simulate a halftime break during their practices. Unthinkable. Bill. Cheating. Again. Heck, I’ll bet he messed with the time-space continuum in order to warp the Pats straight through halftime – probably in cahoots with Gaga. Gaga-gate. Five game suspension!

nimbus-image-1488073611796

Gaga frantically communicates with Belichick via “hidden mic” earpiece as Sanu catches on…. Getty.

This is pitiful and delusional even by Loserville standards. They’ll have a hard time topping that after the Pats win SB LII next year.

1984: American College Version

I have no idea whether Orwell’s 1984 is still permitted on American college campuses anymore. While it used to be mandatory or near-mandatory reading, I can see it easily offending today’s snowflake “students” and make-work professors and administrators.

One thing is certain: those administrators and their faculty allies seemed to have used the novel as a blueprint for many of their pathetic anti-freedom programs and plans.

Milo Y., recently in the news, caused a ruckus traveling the U.S. in an attempt to stir debate on various college campuses. Many students and many more Soros Rent-A-Mob hooligans reacted violently. Milo summed up the base problem at his press conference yesterday:

Don’t think for a moment that this will stop me being as offensive, provocative and outrageously funny as I want on any subject I want. America has a colossal free speech problem. The land of the First Amendment has some of the most oppressive social restrictions on free expression anywhere in the western world. I’m proud to be a warrior for free speech and creative expression.

I want everyone in America, the greatest country in the history of human civilisation, to be able to be, do, read and say anything. I will never stop fighting for your right to do that.

A colossal free speech problem – a freedom problem, really – and nowhere more evident than at our failing colleges. Here’s proof: hundreds of American colleges have snitch programs to combat “offensive” speech:

Universities are the cradle of free speech, where ideologies and ideas clash, where academics and activists can agree, disagree, or be disagreeable. This is particularly true in the United States, where the First Amendment zealously guards against government surveillance and intrusion into free speech.

Yet at hundreds of campuses across the country, administrators encourage students to report one another, or their professors, for speech protected by the First Amendment, or even mere political disagreements. The so-called “Bias Response Teams” reviewing these (often anonymous) reports typically include police officers, student conduct administrators and public relations staff who scrutinize the speech of activists and academics.

This sounds like the stuff of Orwell, although even he might have found the name “Bias Response Team” to be over-the-top.

Over the past year, I surveyed more than 230 such reporting systems for the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education and asked dozens of schools for records about their Bias Response Teams. What I found is detailed in a new report describing how universities broadly define “bias” to include virtually any speech, protected or not, that subjectively offends anyone. On many campuses, administrators are called upon to referee whether speech is polite.

Correction: universities were the cradle of free speech. Today they are bastions of newspeak, debt, and the secret police – and little else.

Here’s a link to the F.I.R.E. Report.

In Appendix B they list out every offended, offensive school, by state.

nimbus-image-1487789012875

I was pleased that neither of the two schools I procured degrees from were included. However, based on my experience with them, I could see them having something similar if they don’t already. The sheer volume of these programs is troubling. The whole thing is troubling.

Open Culture.

There’s no need to look into any of these schools specifically – they usual suspects. Use this list as schools to avoid, if you’re in the education market. If you’re at one, and you get targeted, contact F.I.R.E. It’s time to drive the shrieking Nazis back into fiction.

I just mentioned Freedom Prepper in a story about my recent allergy attack (unrelated, mind you). And I would be remiss not to mention the great changes this week at that incredible publication. Check out the all new and improved:

FP, 2017.

Yes, it’s a Drudge Report style now. I like it. Scott likes it. One really can’t reinvent Matt D’s perfectly good news deliver wheel design. And it’s a news aggregation site, now, primarily. Prepper news and related info, that is. I’ll still have some weekly articles of my own there. Most of my new stuff will (well, does now) appear at the FP App, which is (for now) only available for Apple iTunes. The new site will/should soon have a link to the App, along with the VIP pages, and Preparedness Weekly magazine (also from iTunes but somehow more compatible with other devices).

For an archive of my older (2016-17) FP articles, try THIS LINK. There’s something like 20 pages of my links (so far). The new aggregation links come up first (and are growing rapidly). Those are just links. The real articles are further back; use the “older entries” tab at the bottom of each page to review.

Now, really, where’s my Advil???

More of a sneezing fit really. Big sneeze and then I felt fine. Until this morning. Only too late did I consult weather.com for the pollen count (its high).

Some years I have no allergy symptoms at all. Some years there’s a little here and there. And, then, some years it hits me all at once like a sledgehammer to the head. Guess what kind of year 2017 is. Yeah.

The good news is that I know this will be over fast. The better news is the antihistamines.

Anyway, why did I write this out. Well, I have several rants to get to. And I have several longer articles in the works. But all of that requires a clear head. That’s something I rarely have anyway and hay fever doesn’t help.

I’m not going to discard you like a used tissue (or 5). Before you go, please take a free PDF, a how-to project I wrote up a while back for Freedom Prepper, a tiny (FREE) e-book:

Alec Bradley, cigars, Filthy Hooligan

“Filthy Hooligan” gets tossed around a lot these days. Politicians, Republicans, Democrats, SJWs, rapefugees, Falcons fans, you, me – example after example after example.

And, once again, Alec Bradley has crafted a cigar just for our mad world: the Black Market Filthy Hooligan.

_20170220_151025

A big, beefy, green, barber pole of a cigar.

It debuted for a limited release last year for Saint Patrick’s Day. Following a tremendous reception A.B. brought it back for this year.

Last year I saw the green oddity and wrote it off as such. And that might have been the case this year but for a great recommendation (thanks, Jake!). Don’t judge a cigar by its off-color wrapper! This may be my cigar of the year – jury’s out til December.

Anyway, the Hooligan is a stout 6X50 Toro. The construction, while solid, presents with a slightly mottled appearance. That, of course, is due to the blending of dark Nicaraguan Jalapa (the brown) and Candela leaf (the green). For a mix it holds together perfectly. And it burns perfectly too. Another perfection is the cap (of Candela) which is seemingly custom-made for precision decapitation.

It was the green that originally put me off. My Candela experience has been a little less than exciting. In general, I’ve found, that what looks like grass or hay tends to taste like grass or hay. Not this one. This green somehow imparts a sweet flavor which exceptionally compliments the rich, earthy tones of the Jalapa leaf.

The binder is Sumatran; the fillers are a tandem of Honduran happiness and Panamanian strength. The result is phenomenal. A.B. says: “The medium-bodied, full-flavored smoke explodes on the palate with sweet tobacco flavors countered by the brawnier core leaves, like a good Irish Stout.” And that’s a great description.

By the way, with the green color, they really push the St. Paddy’s Day theme. Hmm. Seems like a good year-round smoke to me. Earthy, sweet, slightly spicy, and smooth in an endearing strong fashion. I concur on the body and flavor levels. It’s a fantastic stick for a veteran, sure to satisfy. And it works really well with a beer. Or, with black coffee.

Newbies too, I suppose, would enjoy this profile. Those without an established palate might do well to eat first and limit the liquid accompaniments. But, then, for them, a slow approach would only increase the savor without discomforts.

Wherever you happen to be experience-wise in cigar land, try one a.s.a.p. You need not wait for the green beer. Unleash your inner hooligan today, you filthy animal.

Dying Industry Seeks to Appease SJW Idiots: Bankruptcy to Follow…

books, publishing, SJW

The traditional publishing industry has one foot in the grave and a battleship anchor around its neck. Now, they seek to drive off the last of their successful authors and resulting revenue streams – all in the name of … whatever it is SJWs want this afternoon. They hiring, many have already hired, Sensitivity Readers (a.k.a. Censors):

Before a book is published and released to the public, it’s passed through the hands (and eyes) of many people: an author’s friends and family, an agent and, of course, an editor.

These days, though, a book may get an additional check from an unusual source: a sensitivity reader, a person who, for a nominal fee, will scan the book for racist, sexist or otherwise offensive content. These readers give feedback based on self-ascribed areas of expertise such as “dealing with terminal illness,” “racial dynamics in Muslim communities within families” or “transgender issues.”

This is from a Chicago Tribune story. And the Tribune gets it all wrong from the start. The friends and family might (might) get to read a manuscript. But, where does one find a literary agent these days? I heard there were 2 left in New York. But they are both busy hunting for new employment. Agents are as common nowadays as bookstores.

The new stores, the editors, the publishers, and the printers are all together on the internet. A few clicks on the keyboard and a new book is approved, published, and on sale to 2 Billion people instantly. And for better royalties than the biggies ever paid.

Soon traditional publishers (a few university, technical, and niche presses exempted) will be confined to the museum of unnatural history. Perhaps their “sensitivity readers” will be a side exhibit. A curiosity.

This last, failing, and stupid trend is but another attempt at social justice warrioring by people who otherwise could never find gainful employment.

‘Racism”. “Dealing with illness”. “Transgender”. “Left-handed, midget, refugee points of view on socio-economic distribution of expenditures in education”. (I made that last one up…). All of these smack of the holier-than-thou censoring for which SJWs are infamous. Nothing shall be uttered (or thought) which defies the narrative (which changes with the breeze). Who the hell cares?

banned

Freedom to Read Foundation.

If a book is offensive, then it won’t sell. Or, maybe it will sell even better because it offends someone. No one is forced to buy or read it. Get over it. Some busybody out there has been offended by every word ever scribed.

The next illogical step wold be for the publishers to burn their own books at SJW tantrum rallies, blue-haired hippies at a Nazi bonfire of ignorant glee. They might as well burn their presses and offices too.

They’re on life support and they’re trying to plug their own plug. Let them.
