Perhaps in response to my scathing indictment a week ago, the Covington Catholic Church has apologized for the way it mistreated the Covington Boys Heros.

But after video evidence emerged showing the full picture of the confrontation, the bishop backtracked an issued an apology.

“We apologize to anyone who has been offended in any way by either of our statements which were made with good will based on the information we had,” wrote Foys, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. “We should not have allowed ourselves to be bullied and pressured into making a statement prematurely, and we take full responsibility for it.”

The bishop in particular apologized to Nicholas Sandmann, the student at the center of the controversy, and his family “as well as to all CovCath families who have felt abandoned during this ordeal.”

I hereby lift my condemnation of the Church – rather, I’ll add it to that reserved for Chief Recon Ranger, the Black-Hearted Israelites, the MSM, the baby butchers, and the rest of the satanists. Smirk on!

Christianity, church, churchians, grifters, Jesus's Accord, South Carolina

The Bible tells us that the Apostles were all in one Accord… Acts 2:1… Pun…must have been like a Holy clown car.

Things have changed. Now, even the preacher’s wife gets the luxury treatment. A South Carolina megachurch ring master pastor bought his wife a $200,000 Lamborghini as an anniversary gift.

Megachurch Pastor John Gray felt a need to explain it on a 23-minute clip on Facebook after catching a lot of flak,

Dec. 17 — This preacher’s wife has no reason to be late to church.

Megachurch Pastor John Gray bought his wife Aventer a $200,000 Lamborghini Urus for their eight-year anniversary, which he felt a need to explain on a 23-minute clip on Facebook after catching a lot of flak.

Ironically, Gray, who said he started preaching in 1994, started the video with a transportation metaphor.

“I want to thank the people who have been walking with me,” the Greenville, S.C. based holy man said before explaining the lavish present.

“The reason my wife and i wanted to have an eight-year wedding celebration is because I needed a new beginning — eight is the number of new beginnings,” he said.

He also clarified that being a pastor is just his job and he’s a husband first.

It’s all okay. I understand that (recently and suddenly) the Relentless (wow!) Church, which, by their website, more closely resembles a Motley Crue concert than a house of worship, has offered some cash to needy parishioners. I’m sure there’s no relationship to the Lambo backlash.

Really, it’s okay. Pastor Gray is associated with Opera and Joel Osteen so there’s no chance that he’s a post-modern, man of the world, do as I say, gospel of prosperity, churchian grifter. He’s a husband with a side business. Now, tithe.

There’s a culture war, believe it or not. Darkness pervades both sides.

A representative story from the left:

Facebook asks users: should we allow men to ask children for sexual images?

Facebook has admitted it was a “mistake” to ask users whether paedophiles requesting sexual pictures from children should be allowed on its website.

On Sunday, the social network ran a survey for some users asking how they thought the company should handle grooming behaviour. “There are a wide range of topics and behaviours that appear on Facebook,” one question began. “In thinking about an ideal world where you could set Facebook’s policies, how would you handle the following: a private message in which an adult man asks a 14-year-old girl for sexual pictures.”

The surveys with optional answers:

1890.jpg

Facebook/The Guardian.

“Facebook decides the rules with advice from external experts” is the only plausibly reasonable answer so long as the “external experts” are the police.

A better option would have been: “Said potential message(s) constituting (possible felony) criminal solicitation, Facebook should immediately freeze or lock out the offending account(s) and immediately report the interactions to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for prosecution. Failure to do so by Facebook, with actual knowledge of the message(s), would likely constitute criminal accessory support of child exploitation. All such activity is morally reprehensible to, incompatible with, and intolerable by any civilized nation or people.”

So interesting, telling, that they left off a criminal activity option. Even more telling they sent out the survey in the first place. Yes, a mistake (now that they’re caught). It all speaks to “the narrative,” which has now progressed to the normalization of pedos (and next: bestiality, necrophilia, and cannibalism). Diversity, you know.

For God’s or nature’s sake, Facebook, please reclaim a little dignity!

In the culture war, raging in this rather dark world, one would almost expect this from Facebook, one of the biggest socials, a group partly dedicated to allowing things like ISIS propaganda while banning, even supporting the criminalization of, those who would protest barbarism. Par for the course. One would suspect this evil progressivism from the left. One gets it, suspecting or not.

Yet such pathetic sickness also runs rampant on the other side:

ITALIAN ARCHDIOCESE ROCKED BY SCANDAL: DRUGS, GAY PROSTITUTION, BLACKMAIL

An Italian archdiocese is embroiled in scandal as reports are surfacing of a gay priest on trial for allegations of blackmail, embezzlement and other crimes.

Father Luca Morini, known to his flock as “Don Euro” for his extravagant lifestyle, has recently been scheduled for a hearing in the Court of Massa, the medieval town in Tuscany where he used to run two parishes. The preliminary hearing is set to take place on March 8, where the judge will examine the evidence for accusations of fraud, drug distribution, embezzlement, extortion and self-laundering.

The case began when male escort, Francesco Mangiacapra, decided to go public about services he had been rendering to Fr. Morini, who falsely presented himself as a judge. When the escort found out that his prodigal client was a simple parish priest, he decided to inquire about the financial source for all the lavish dinners and expensive gifts. Mangiacapra suspected the money came from the faithful and decided to report Fr. Morini to the diocese of Massa Carrara-Pontremoli.

…

Last week Mangiacapra handed a 1,200-page dossier to the archdiocese of Naples with documents (including sexually explicit pictures) that prove the escort’s involvement with 60 priests from all over Italy. Explaining his motivations to newspaper Corriere della Sera, Mangiacapra said, “The goal isn’t to hurt the people I’ve mentioned [in the dossier], but to help them understand that their double life … isn’t useful to them or to the people who rely on them for guidance.”

He continued, “Their behavior is, in many cases, a result of the impunity that the high hierarchy of the Church has made habitual: that unjust tolerance that feeds the idea that it is possible to separate that which is lived from that which is professed, as typical of those who have a schizophrenic, double morality.”

See also: Allegations about 40 gay priests in Italy sent to Vatican (also with allegations of pedo activities).

Okay, Dear God, where to go with this? Factual confirmation to support a million stereotypes and anti-pedo-Catholic jokes. What, exactly, does it mean when a homosexual prostitute has more moral integrity, more conscious, than the Church, from top to bottom?!

In the name of Jesus Christ, Pope Francis, drive the freaks and criminals from the Holy ranks!!!

A suspicion generating culture drives rumors and nicknames like “Don Euro.” The Church did nothing. There had to be a financial paper trail. The Church did nothing. Somebody knew something. The Church did nothing. Someone wrote a letter. The Church did more nothing. An escort came froward with A 1,200 PAGE REPORT!!!! The Church did even more nothing. The police filed charges. The Church still did nothing.

When, finally, the story leaked to the press, the Church at last acted. They reacted with more Euros, a private villa, maids, and CYA excuses.

Christ promised that “the gates of hell shall not prevail against” the Church. Matthew 16:18. He did not promise that hell would not occasionally crash right up against the gates of the Church. Maybe, just maybe, instead of feeding the fires of communism and globalism, the Church could do a little pushing back against the crashing evil.

This particular story is in Italy. I guarantee it isn’t geographically limited to the one nation. And the Italian people, that fleeced, bereft flock, are more than ready to man and defend the gates.

They’re doing it politically:

Italy Faces Political Paralysis After Populist Shock

The WSJ doesn’t even know what to make of this uprising. I see various possible combinations for coalition building – for Italy – not for the EU, nor the globalist usurpers, nor the foreign invaders. They may not have had such good news since the time they caught Benito at the gas station.

May the spirit of righteous resistance spread to the Church, the socials, and the rest of the West. Light unto the darkness; the surreal brought to bay.

Christians, church, Donald Trump, evil, Satan, witches

Essential confirmation of my warning from last week about the plan of global Satanists to affect an early end of the Trump administration.

From the Catholic News Agency:

Spells can have power, according to Father Vincent Lampert, the designated exorcist for the archdiocese of Indianapolis since 2005 and also the pastor for St. Malachy in Indianapolis. “I think there’s power, but it’s not coming from God,” Father Lampert said. “Anyone who would dare say they want to challenge that God is in charge is using the power of evil as their own. They should realize that we can’t use the devil; the devil uses us. People can’t control it and the devil ends up using them for his own purposes.”

Spells, according to Father Lampert, only have an effect in people who are spiritually weak. If we are anchored in God, he said Scripture tells us we have nothing to fear. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places,” (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Father Lampert pointed out that in Deuteronomy 18:10-12, using witchcraft is condemned as detestable to God. He has known a few people who derive a sense of power and make money from people paying to have spells cast. Hundreds of people have come to Father Lampert for help after spells were cast on them.

The Solution

“You can’t stop someone from placing a curse, but as a Christian, if you are you praying to God and going to him, the curse will have no power,” Father Lampert said. For Catholics, he said going to Mass, receiving the Eucharist and going to Confession, is strong protection against evil. “Curses are effective when people are weak,” Father Lampert explained. “People are fearing devil more than trusting God.”

As for the call for those casting the spell, Father Lampert said they are relying on evil that feeds on anger and revenge. “The end result of all this for people will be to find themselves more deeply entangled with the devil,” he said. “Their lives will continue to spiral out of control because they do not have God as an anchor.”

One almost wonders how many crescent moons there are over the next four to eight years. Will they claim success after the next presidential election or after a finished second term? Would that amount to illegal election influence? Could they claim retroactive credit for the 22nd Amendment? It, while amusing, matters little.

As I warned, these are powers far beyond the control of people, powers better left completely alone. Once they are summoned, there is no telling how they will react nor what they will do.

Many would be pleased if this actually worked against Trump. The problem is that evil cannot accomplish good. I am not inclined to wish this kind of intervention on anyone – Trump, Obama, ISIS – literally no one is worth the risk nor deserves the implications. Enough harm and evil is done by man without recourse to the actual Devil. And I would wish even less to involve myself in the process. Often the conjurers are more targets than their intended victims.

Many refuse to acknowledge any of this exists in the first place. For many it is, all of it, ridiculous nonsense, baseless superstition. Given the ridiculous fiasco that is so much of modern, organized religion, that is somewhat understandable. Flawed but understandable.

Less understandable are the many “Christians” who attend church out of popular obligation while not comprehending at all what they experience through The Word. In their own way they embrace the attitude of superstition. It’s a country club affair for many, a social gathering. For others it is a club and a shield for self-righteousness. This is frequently accompanied by a desire to meld the teachings of the Church to the ways of the State: jingoistic national religion, more the former than the latter.

All the while, the Devil stalks. He’s out there of his own accord; leave him be. Regardless of the intent behind the invitation to let him in, he makes a most unwelcome guest.

Several days ago several of my friends lamented both the constant barrage of stories about abortion and the subject itself.  All averredly pro-life they are none-the-less tired of hearing about Planned Abor…Parenthood, pro-choice, pro-life, and broken Republican rhetoric.  One asked, “why doesn’t anyone just do something?”

Someone tried.  Oddly enough it was an elected Republican from Georgia who actually used his position of power to make a difference.  He tried time and again.  Failure to him only meant another chance to try again.

He was dead serious about protecting children in addition to championing various other causes of freedom.  He was one of the very few living politicians I admired. I knew the man personally.  His name was Bobby Franklin.

Robert “Bobby” Franklin represented Georgia’s 43rd House District (Cobb County) from 1997 until his death in 2011.

RepBobbyFranklin

Bobby Franklin at work.  Google.

A self-made businessman he served on the House Banking Committee, among others.  At one time he was chairman of the House Reapportionment Committee.  He consistently stood for less government and more freedom.  He was never shy of controversy.

His most famous stand was for those unborn Georgians.  In 2011 he made sure the very first bill in the House hopper was one which would have made abortion a felony punishable by either death or life in prison.  See: H.B. 1, 2011.  He rightly considered the practice a form of murder.

His hardest critics, had they not been weak cowards, would have possibly tried to murder Bobby himself for his stance.  Of course, they resorted to base distortion and lying, going so far as to say Bobby would criminalize ordinary miscarriage. These were and are the same sort of satanists who laugh while discussing chopping up living babies and then selling the parts.

You can read and judge for yourself the would-have-been effects of H.B. 1 via the link above.  Here is the pertinent part of the Bill, concerned with protecting the rights of all citizens:

bobby bill

H.B. 1, 2011, GA Gen. Assembly.

Extreme, huh?

Upon his untimely death his detractors still mocked:

Bobby Franklin was the demagogue the Founding Fathers feared and warned us about, a perfect example of the excesses of democracy that would strip the common American citizen of his or her rights.

If you must have a eulogy from me this morning, it will be this, and this only: Bobby Franklin was a danger to democracy and a danger to women and now he’s dead.

Hrafnkell Haraldsson, No Eulogies for Georgia State Rep. Bobby Franklin,
July 28, 2011.

Nonsense, all of it.  The free people of the state had no better friend.

Bobby did want to strip away certain things from out the overfilled lumber room of Georgia law.  He wanted to strip out taxes.  He wanted to strip away regulations.  He wanted to strip away government involvement in people’s lives – to include abolishing the requirement for a state-issued driver’s license.

Had the ultra-left not been so preoccupied with killing babies they might have recognized Bobby’s position of licenses as similar to those of the 1960’s counter-culture.

“Free people have a common law and constitutional right to travel on the roads and highways that are provided by their government for that purpose,” Franklin’s legislation states. “Licensing of drivers cannot be required of free people, because taking on the restrictions of a license requires the surrender of an inalienable right.”
In an interview with CBS Atlanta News, Franklin claimed driver’s licenses are a throw back to oppressive times.

“Agents of the state demanding your papers,” he said. “We’re getting that way here.”

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/georgia-republican-nobody-should-need-a-driver-s-license

TPM Muckraker, Feb. 2, 2011.

He further proposed other “unthinkable” freedom-centered legislation, to include:

*The sole use of gold or silver as currency (where did he ever get that idea???);

*Taxing and regulating the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta like any other bank;

*Banning forced vaccinations;

*Eliminating the state income tax;

*Eliminating property taxes;

*Banning eminent domain;

*Recognizing that civil government is last and least after family, religion, and community;

*Protecting the right to bear arms and to use them in self-defense;

*Making it legal to carry a firearm into a Georgia church (actually passed three years after his death); and

*Mandating that questions of Constitutional Law be settled by elected officials in the General Assembly rather than the Courts.

Bobby never quite trusted the courts nor lawyers (maybe to include me..).  He was not afraid of them and did not worship their decisions as most lawyers do.  In fact, his H.B. 1, supra, would have specifically banned federal courts from reviewing his law, as they lacked jurisdiction (true if moot today):

bobby bill2

H.B. 1, 2011. Federal courts need not apply.

A little known fact about Bobby Franklin was that he actually wanted to become a Federal District Court Judge.  He once called me, during the early 2000s, to ask what the qualifications were and, specifically, if one had to be an attorney.  I explained to him he met all the (very few) technical qualifications.  There is no requirement that a federal judge of any sort be an attorney.  Some of the finest of all American jurists have been (long ago) non-lawyers.

We then discussed the political qualifications.  Politically, one does need to be an attorney.  One also needs to contribute heavily to a President’s campaign.  One must be capable of passing U.S. Senate scrutiny after securing a nomination.  I asked him if he thought George Bush (the dimmer) would nominate such an outspoken, relentless champion of liberty.  We laughed and he apparently dismissed the idea.  That was a shame.

I think what had stirred him to this unlikely career change idea was the flap over the separation of church and state caused by the public display here and there of the Ten Commandments.  I’m sure he had other reasons too.  He would have made a fantastic judge.

Bobby was a fantastic man.  A man in real life in addition to the newspapers and the state house.  We attended a men’s wild game dinner at the First Baptist Church in Woodstock together.  Then governor Sonny Perdue gave a short sermon before shotguns were raffled off.  Sometimes Georgia is a damn fine place!  Perdue actually gave a decent homily, concerning the wrath of the devil in our lives: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”  1 Peter 5:8, JKV.

That is a powerful verse and Perdue’s usage was well placed.  Powerful also was Bobby Franklin’s response to a joking question asked that night by another speaker.  Remember, it was a men’s group.  The speaker laughingly asked how many of us were “henpecked.”   A thousand or so of us sheepishly raised our hands.  Bobby did not.  Real. Man.

I found out he was gone one day when I was poking around my Facebook feed and realized Bobby wasn’t on anymore.  A Google search revealed his death to me.  As could be guessed from his legislative history, Bobby was a staunch Christian.  His death was discovered when he failed to show as usual at his church on Sunday morning.  He died of well-hidden heart problems.  One would have never suspected he took prescription medications of any kind – he was as physically fit as he was steadfast to his principles.

The popular press was a bit kinder than the lunatic left in its obituary:

“He was one of the few politicians who stood by what he believed in, whether you agreed with it or not.” …

“He would want to be remembered first as a person of faith and second as a person who loved his country and loved liberty.” …

“While he certainly was controversial, he was never vitriolic and was never mean. This is a very sad day for Georgia.”

Franklin could also often be a thorn in the side of Republican leadership. While his go-it-alone attitude was rarely problematic, he could tie up committee meetings for hours. A member of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee, he would frequently attempt to add anti-abortion language to unrelated bills to the exasperation of his colleagues.

He also was unafraid to challenge the speaker of the House, an act somewhat akin to challenging a king. On several occasions, even challenging a member of the same party, Franklin would force a vote of the full House in an attempt to overrule the speaker. This was true under both former Speaker Glenn Richardson, R-Hiram, and current Speaker David Ralston, R-Blue Ridge.

Franklin Remembered, AJC, July 26, 2011.

I suppose this is my belated good-bye to Bobby.  His loss was a sad blow to Georgia and America.  Also, sadly, we will not likely see his kind again.

**NOTE** This piece was written under the influence of pain killers and prescription strength muscle relaxers.  I really really hope it makes sense to you, my beloved readers.  ***

You, by now, have surely heard of Dylan Roof. A drug-addled, psychotic, racist piece of walking, talking sh*t in a form resembling man, Mr. Roof has done America a tremendous service in spite of his initial nefarious designs.

Earlier this week I had intended to write something about a different story out of South Georgia.  It also involved violence against the innocent although it was dispensed by a gang or group of deranged savages – the police.  Let me briefly touch on that story and how it relates to Dylan’s rampage.

Last year David Hooks and his wife, Teresa, were the victims of a burglary which resulted in the theft of their family vehicle.  Naturally, perhaps unwisely, they reported the crime to police.  The police, ever slow to solve property crimes, solved this one fast.  They apprehended the suspect and interviewed him.  Being a weasel, he said the drugs in his possession were found in the Hook’s stolen vehicle.  The police, being either incompetent or gullible, believed the thief and pursued a warrant against the Hooks.

During the night of September 24, 2014 the cops, attired in SWAT costumes, executed a search warrant at the Hooks residents.  Teresa, fearing the burglar(s) had returned called for David’s help.  David emerged with a shotgun and was promptly shot dead by the heavily armed police.  Of course, no drugs or other illegal items were found during the specious search.

Thus did the innocent David Hooks, 59, become the another causality (collateral damage) in the idiotic “war on drugs” in 21st Century America.

Business as usual, the police in Dublin are standing behind their actions.  No criminal charges will flow from this travesty of “justice.”  The Hook family will receive a settlement in their civil suit but this will not bring David back from the dead nor actively deter the police from future murders.  Is your War on Drugs really worth this?  This scenario unfolds every day.

What caught my eye about this story was the support generated for the Hook family. The hooks are white.  During a courthouse rally over this injustice many black civil rights activists from Atlanta showed up in support and outrage.  A disciple of the late Josea Williams stated that now white people would be brought into the struggle against police injustice.  The police shoot to death innocent people of all races almost every day.  It is an epidemic which is largely ignored outside of the black community, blacks being, historically, the primary victims of this “war.”

I rejoiced in that perhaps people would wake up and unite.  Then Dylan Roof came along.

On the evening of June 17, 2015 Dylan Roof walked into the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. A prayer service was underway.  Dylan participated or at least sat quietly for an hour.  Dylan is white, the Church is predominantly black.

I have been the white face in a “black” church before.  I have never experienced the feeling of being the “white face” but rather a sensation of love and welcome as a brother of Christ.  I find black churches to be largely more Christian and less country club than many of their “white” counterparts.  Dylan no doubt experienced the same treatment.

Despite his kind, Christian treatment Dylan, without any provocation, shot and murdered nine church members – members who had just welcomed him with open arms.  Dylan is a white racist who hates blacks for no reason.

Dylan Roof, intoxicated redneck f*ck, dishonors the Confederate Battle Flag, guns, America, and all humanity. UK Daily Mail.

Dylan’s plan was to start a race war between blacks and whites in America.  As sure as Jesus cast demons from out mens’ hearts, Dylan’s plan has backfired.  Matthew 4:10; Luke 11:14.

In his “manifesto” Dylan declared, “N****rs are stupid and violent…. Black people view everything through a racial lense [sic].”  To solve this problem Dylan acted in the most stupid and violent manner possible against the most helpless and decent people he could find.

You know what happened at the AME church.  You know about the manhunt and Dylan’s capture.  You have intense feelings about this crime as do I.  Initially I called for Dylan’s execution.  This came from my heart in spite of my distrust of the American legal system in general and the death penalty specifically.  Thus was the force of emotion.

I wrote on a friend’s Facebook posting the comment: “Hang. Him. High.” I then remembered what I had written about the death penalty in South Carolina only a short time before: “Gandalf answered [Frodo] masterfully: ‘Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.’”

My own inconsistency here illustrates several points.  The State, having surrendered its legitimacy, should never be in the position of deciding whether anyone lives or dies. Christians should not seek nor rejoice in the execution of any criminal.  Dylan, like so many modern mass murderers, was under the influence of psychotic drugs initially developed by the CIA in an effort to effect mass mind control (MK Ultra).

Many have been the vacuous debates about the motives and influences behind these murders.  President Obama roundaboutly blames guns in society.  Guns rights folks blame our debased criminal society.  Dylan’s use of and convictions for legal and illegal drugs are mentioned.  Suspicious people like me see a government angle to the story. In the end, Dylan Roof did this and bears responsibility.  Despite my rationalization and research I still (sadly) stand by my knee-jerk statement of “Hang him.”  God help me, Dylan and everybody else.

Roof appeared by television before a Magistrate Judge.  The case against him is astounding.

As I said, Dylan’s plan for a war have backfired.  America has instead been brought together as rarely before.  Charleston is not Baltimore or Ferguson.  The country is galvanized against violence.  In Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has dispatched his mostly white civilian posse to guard black churches.

In Charleston victims of the crime have expressed forgiveness for Dylan in displays of love which nearly defy belief.  I mentioned my Facebook comments herein. Several of my FB friends have linked the following story:

SSRI drugs may play a part in the majority of modern American mass murders. However, the forgiveness and togetherness brought about by Dylan Roof are unprecedented.

While writing this story I interviewed two black gentlemen on their thoughts. Tito, a cigar brother, said, “Where we are as a country is sad.”  “In God’s house to commit those crimes is sad.”

Tito’s visiting friend, Gerard Ousely, of Durham, N.C. said: “Our country has been polarized.  In a sad state of affairs, we’re letting the minority run the majority.” He went on: “Nine people got killed behind hatred.”  “People die because of poor police tactics, racism, hatred, it’s just ridiculous.” “We the majority need to get behind what’s right.”

The time has come to stand together against evil, whether from the State or from each other.  Join the majority, join what is right.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the fiery end of the federal government’s siege on the Branch Davidian Seventh Day Adventist Church in Waco, Texas.  April 19, 1993 was the end of a month and a half ordeal probably unlawfully initiated against a peaceful, if weird, group of Christians by the tyrannical Imperial federal government.  In addition to being a serious injustice in and of itself, it also stands as a critical warning to all of us free citizens currently enduring the 21st Century.

ruby21

(Separation of Church and State?  Google Images.)

I recall the media’s treatment of the story during the winter and spring of 1993.  Essentially, they reported the feds’ words verbatim and, in keeping with modern journalistic tact, did so with no critical analysis whatsoever.  The Clinton administration and their lamestream puppets said that David Koresh was a deranged and dangerous man who had brainwashed a large group of followers Jim Jones style and who had engaged in several serious criminal offenses.  All of this was based on lies.  Seventhy-six innocent civilians and four stormtroopers lost their lives because of these lies.  Numerous others, on both sides, were scarred, physically and mentally, as a result of the battle.

Twenty years later, there has never been an honest official review of the crimes committed by the government between February 28th and April 19th that fateful year.  Laws have been rendered obsolete, innocents have been imprisoned, criminals have been promoted and lionized, and the truth might have just as well burned in the terrible conflagration.

The Branch Davidians separated from the mainline Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1955.  Essentially, they believed they were living in the “end times” and ordered their lives accordingly.  There developed a power struggle within the group between David Koresh and George Roden.  During the 1980’s there was a violent confrontation between the factions which resulted in several prosecutions; there were no convictions and the matter faded away.  Following his conviction for a 1989 axe murder, Roden was imprisoned in a mental facility.  Koresh took command of the church.

Koresh believed himself the final prophet of the church and the man who would guide the group through the end of days, the rapture, or whatever.  His methods were odd to say the least.  His followers moved into his compound in Waco where Koresh lead a polygamist prophetly existence.  I have never understood why people ever allow themselves to come under the sway of such men.  At any rate, Koresh and his followers were largely isolated from the rest of the world, engaged in their final preparations.

Those preparations, in part, lead to the government’s investigation and subsequent charges.  The charges were as follows: manufacture and possession of illegal weapons (machine guns), the manufacture of methamphetamines, and child abuse and statutory rape of young girls.  I seem to recall tax evasion charges as well but cannot locate definitive documentation.  The IRS can always bring tax charges or administrative actions against anyone due to the impossible nature of the tax code.

There was no evidence to support the meth charges.  Roden had allegedly run a meth lab at the church during the 80s.  However, the operation had ceased years before Koresh took over the group.  Not approving a drugs, Koresh dutifully turned over to local authorities the remains of lab.  That was the extent of the evidence – none.  Some FBI and ATF agents acknowledged the lack of evidence on these counts.

The allegations of child abuse, etc. came from Koresh’s critics, both before and after the 1993 ordeal.  Such crimes, even when real, are not federal matters.  They are within the jurisdiction of the state.  Nevertheless, the accusations were included against Koresh and Co. in order to make them look as bad as possible to the grand jury and judge.  The government never lets the truth interfere with a case.

Reports indicate that Texas child-protective authorities had previously visited the church and talked extensively with Koresh.  No charges resulted.  Koresh was also on relatively friendly speaking terms with the local Sheriff, who later expressed concern over federal actions.

As for the “machine guns,” the charges stemmed from a report by a UPS delivery driver of weapons components being shipped to the group in Waco.  The driver relayed his information to the Sheriff’s Office.  A deputy then informed the BATF (BATFE or ATF).  Another Koresh detractor and former member provided hearsay of the illegal conversion of AR-15 rifles into automatic M-16s.  The Davidians ran a legitimate weapons business, the Mag Bag, in order to raise funds for their operation.  None of their wares and weapons were illegally obtained.  However, the ATF (again not concerned with the truth) mislead a federal judge by speculating that the mere existence of the legal weapons might suggest a crime.

The ATF also informed the judge that a neighbor had previously reported the sound of automatic gun fire emanating from the church.  They failed to leave out the fact that, as with the child abuse charges, this sound was also reported to the Sheriff, who had investigated the matter and concluded there was no criminal activity.

You may recall that during the siege and its aftermath, the media parrotted reports of a certain number of machine guns at the church.  The number continued to decline oddly as time passed until it reached th true number – zero.

As part of their speculative fishing trip the ATF set up surveillance from a nearby house and sent an unconvincing infiltrator to join the group.  Koresh became aware of both but said nothing.  Once their lies were neatly typed out, the ATF obtained search and arrest warrants and prepared to descend on the church on February 28, 1993.

A reported was tipped off about the impending raid and asked for directions to the church from a postman, who happened to be Koresh’s brother-in-law.  Thus was Koresh tipped off.  He then dismissed the ATF’s informant from the group.  The informant reported that, when he departed the church, the members were praying.

Having come to belive their own lies, the ATF geared for battle against the church members.  They illegally assembled at Fort Hood, a nearby Army installation (remember the Posse Comitatus Act, anyone?).  They were well armed and well armoured though their other preparations were unbelievably incompetent.  Rather than arriving in marked vehicles so as to identify themselves as lawmen, the agents rode up in cattle trailers pulled by several pick-up trucks (private models belonging to various agents).  They also neglected to carry communications equipment.  The first reports of a gun fight at the church came from the church itself; the members called 911 to report they were being attacked by a gang of heavily armed thugs.

Those thugs, once they disembarked their trailers, immediately opened fire on the church – in order to kill and silence the canine residents.  Normally, approaching officers identify themselves as such and attempt to serve their warrants peacefully.

Thus, with no indication of the agent’s legal intentions (if any), the Davidians responded as Americans typically do to violent intruders.  They shot back.  A lethal gun battle raged from around 45 minutes.  The local Sheriff, who said he was not apprised of the raid and knew nothing of it until the Davidians called for help, was unable to communicate with the ATF (dead radios don’t receive calls).  The Sheriff’s Office eventually negotiated a cease-fire.  Five Davidains and four agents were dead.  At this point, Koresh’s and his followers’ fates were sealed.  The government does not tolerate the killing of their own, even in cases of self-defense.

Following the ceasefire, one of the most infamous sieges in American history commenced.  The government dispensed with all vestiges of common sense and gradually increased tensions at the church.  Eventually, all the communications and utilities of the Davidians were cut off.  This left the members without running water and electricity.  The government apparently had lost interest in those abused children.

The FBI took over the operation.  Some within the agency favored negotiating a peaceful end to the ordeal.  Others, who views won out in the end, favored aggressive military action.  Koresh allowed eleven of his followers to depart – they were immediately arrested and some were prosecuted.  At least they survived.  As April passed the government prepared to end the confrontation violently.  As part of their campaign, the FBI mobilized military assets including, helicopters, light armoured vehicles, main battle tanks, and tactical advice from the military.

You may recall from my column, Posse Comitatus, that using the force of the military in domestic law enforcement is a felony.  Remember, no-one has ever been prosecuted under the Act.  However, some within the government remained honest and faithful to the law.  Before rendering illegal assistance to the FBI, the Army attempted to procedurally clear the matter internally.  The case was given to a JAG Attorney for analysis, particularly as to the FBI’s request for assistance.  The JAG Officer promptly reported the scheme was a Posse Comitatus violation.  He was told to stick his opinion in his ear.

The FBI, now armed for battle in an actual war, began to harass the Davidians intensely.  In addition to cutting off their utilities and treating those afore-mentioned children to high-decibel AC/DC music around the clock, the government constantly circled the church with their tanks.  They flattened everything outside, including the Davidians automobiles.  They also intentionally ran over grave sites repeatedly (a crime).

At last, on April 19th, the government made its move.  President Clinton still desired a peaceful, negotiated end but was convinced by his chief-Nazi, Attorney General Janet Reno, to use violent force.  Reno’s justification for the use of overwhelming force varied and changed as time passed and the number of machine guns declined.

The FBI used their tanks to smash holes through the walls of the church.  Into these they pumped CS gas, which as a chemistry major like Reno (“consulted” by the military) should have known, is delivered via a highly flammable powder.  The FBI also launched numerous flash-bang grenades into the building.  As normally happens when extreme heat and sparks are applied to a flammable substance, a fire erupted.  Of course, the government blamed the fire on the Davidians – why stop the lies, at this point.  You will surely recall the fire, it is engrained in my memory forever.  See the picture above.

They government continued to ram the building with tanks.  They drove one into the building at a point where they knew the children were likely gathered.  I have seen video of a Davidian crushed and shredded beneath the tracks of one of the 70-ton vehicles.

The fire killed the Davidians.  Some attempted to escape only to be shot to death by FBI (or military) snipers.  I watched a video of a subsequent Congressional investigation of the event.  The Congressmen watched a video of the assault unfold that was filmed used FLIR (forward-looking infrared).  An expert identified various flashes as muzzle blasts directed toward fleeing, unarmed Davidians.  A member, indignant that anyone would question or accuse the government of murder, demanded to know what the expert’s expertise with FLIR.  The expert’s assertion he had invented the technology was insufficient for the panel.

All ensuing investigations, including that of Former Senator and Special Counsel John Danforth, exonerated the government.  We call this a whitewashing.  Following a criminal trial, eight Davidains were convicted of firearms charges.  Four were acquitted outright and all were cleared of murder charges.  Following numerous appeals the Davidans received much lighter sentences and all were freed from custody by 2007.  No criminal investigation or prosecution of the federal agents was ever conducted.  In another whitewashing, the survivors and the families of the deceased lost a civil lawsuit in the case of Andrade v. Chojnacki, 338 F.3d 448 (5th Cir. 2003).

This story is one of massive and complete injustice.  It should also serve as a dire warning to all Americans of the government’s boundless power and ability to get away with any crime, no matter the circumstances.  Remember Waco whenever you see or hear accusations from the government.  Remember who really abused children.  Remember who lied to initiate and to justify their actions.  Remember and do all you ever can to combat injustice.  We owe that much, at least, to our deceased citizens and to the Natural order of the law.
