Possibly Explanation for the Toronto Attack

I think they refer to this as “Gamma Rage.”

Alek Minassian, 25, was charged on Tuesday with 10 counts of murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.

Police say he appeared to intentionally strike pedestrians after mounting a busy pavement in a rental van.

He was arrested several blocks away after a tense standoff with police.

Mr Minassian’s Facebook post, which the social network has confirmed as real, praised Elliott Rodger , a 22 year old from California who killed six people in a shooting rampage through Isla Vista, California in 2014 before turning the gun on himself.

It read: “The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!”

The term “incel” refers to a now-banned group on the message site Reddit, used by Rodger, where young men discussed their lack of sexual activity and attractiveness to women – often blaming women for the problem.

“Chads and Stacys” refers to attractive men and women who are perceived as better than or unavailable to “incels”, which is short for “involuntary celibate”.

A different type of terrorism and “loser” by a different name.

Just a glance at a picture of either Rodger or Minassian reveals it may not, in fact, be all women’s fault. There’s that look. And that one. A shame these two killers couldn’t have “found each other” before people died.

Neuroscience is making great progress in identifying these types. The defects apparently show up in a genetic test, a brain scan, or both.

The Fall of Gondolin

You can’t keep a good author down. Even if he’s been dead for nearly half a century. Later this year we can look forward to another new masterpiece by J.R.R. Tolkien: The Fall of Gondolin:

HarperCollins has announced that it will, for the very first time, publish The Fall of Gondolin on 30 August this year.

Edited by Christopher Tolkien and illustrated by Alan Lee, The Fall of Gondolin will follow the same format as Beren and Lúthien published last year, separating out the story so that it stands alone while showing how the narrative evolved over the years. This is the first time the tale of the Fall of Gondolin will be published as a standalone edition, collecting all versions of the story together.

Responding to the news, Tolkien Society chair, Shaun Gunner, said:

We never dared to dream that we would see this published. The Fall of Gondolin is, to many in the Tolkien community, the Holy Grail of Tolkien texts as one of Tolkien’s three Great Tales alongside The Children of Húrin and Beren and Lúthien. This beautiful story captures the rise and fall of a great Elven kingdom, taking place millennia before the events of The Lord of the Rings. This book brings all the existing work together in one place to present the story in full.

Let’s hope it’s more like The Children of Hurin (a full story) and maybe less like Beren and Luthien (a full telling of how a story developed). The potential is epic.

For the Hobbit and LOTR readers, this is the ancient, crown jewel Noldorin civilization mentioned briefly in those works (and also in TCOH). For Peter Jackson movie fans, say five Hail Marys and go read those books. All: get a preview from The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales.

The short story Of Tuor and His Coming to Gondolin (UT) set the stage but was, sadly, never finished. Let’s hope this book does it.

Four Questions For The Concerned Gun Toter

Tags

, , , ,

With all the hubbub about guns lately – record ownership, record crime stopping, and record concealed carry – I get asked more than a few times about carry laws, rules, and faux pas. Simply put: look those laws up and/or consult a good local attorney; they vary from state to state.

Still I get pressed about things like: carrying in cars, across state lines, loaded, unloaded, disclosure to the cops, etc., etc., etc. It happened yesterday – queried by a fellow who already has a CCW. You, Mr. Law Abiding Citizen, follow the rules and your conscience.

And stop the obsessive worry. The odds of a negative LEO encounter are slightly marginal at best. I pose four easy questions to put this in perspective (inquiries are frequently vehicular in nature, hence number 2):

One. How old are you?

Two. How long have you been driving?

Three. How many times have you ever been stopped by the police?

Four. How many times have you been searched?

The nearly universal answer to number four is “zero.” And there you have your effective chances of future problems.

Keep calm and carry on.

I Was Wrong About Guns

This is embarrassing, really, but it is important to correct one’s errors. I apologize in advance if I’ve misled anyone.

For a long time I’ve been countering hysterical, communist gun control lies with a set of statistics. Chief among them was the claim that guns save roughly 1 million American lives each year. That’s simply not true.

They save 2 MILLION. Every. Single. Year.

The CDC said so (or would have, if they didn’t have an agenda):

An unpublished Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study confirms Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck’s findings of more than two million defensive handgun uses (DGUs) per year.

Since the early 1990s, Kleck has maintained that there is a minimum of 760,000 DGUs annually. That is his low estimate; Kleck and research partner Marc Gertz have contended the actual number is closer to 2.5 million.

Kleck reaffirmed his numbers on February 17, 2015, explaining that while plenty of naysayers have criticized his findings, none have been able to offer empirical evidence to counter them.

Now, a CDC study conducted on data from 1996, 1997, and 1998 has been uncovered. The study, which was never released to the public, shows approximately 2.46 million DGUs per year.

Or it is 2.5 Million? Regardless, this was a government study so it cannot be questioned. The failure to publish can’t really be criticized either – the agenda and all.

In my defense I settled on the erroneous 1 million out of an abundance of statistical caution. It seemed a safe round off point. Now that I know better, it’s 2 million from now on. That’s about one life saved, one defensive usage, every 15 seconds. I wonder if Young Hogg will mention that in his forthcoming book? Guessing, and I could be wrong, that’s a big “no.”

Nine Dead in Toronto Van Assault

Tags

At least nine people are reported dead after an assailant drove a rental van down a sidewalk in Toronto. From the National Post:

The federal public safety minister says there is no information in the wake of the incident that would lead the government to change the country’s risk level.

Canada’s current level is Medium, meaning that a violent act of terrorism could occur, and has been at this level since October 2014.

Public safety minister Ralph Goodale says the government cannot come to any firm conclusions about the van incident at this stage.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said he planned to join those on scene as he extended city support to the investigation of an incident he described as “very tragic.”

“My thoughts are with those affected by this incident and the frontline responders who are working to help those injured,” he said in a statement.

Medium. Violent attack could happen. Looks like they called that one right. Thoughts by but no prayers in Secular City.

No calls for #vancontrol from Trudeau, Hogg, CNN, Old Man Stevens, or any of the other lying commies. I may have to drop that satire; I’m growing confident that, after #knifecontrol, vehicular controls will be next.

Maybe I don’t need the satire anyway. A look through many of the comments on some news stories tells me people are starting to get it.

We Have Always Been at War with the Deep State

An interesting, subtle, and telling admission from The Guardian and the media guardians of the Deep State. The tinfoil hat factory had better turn it up a notch. Many thanks, as usual, to Vox Day:

Even its proponents are now admitting its existence and are worrying that it might have gone too far:

America doesn’t have coups or tanks in the street. But a deep state of sorts exists here and it includes national security bureaucrats who use secretly collected information to shape or curb the actions of elected officials.

Some see these American bureaucrats as a vital check on the law-breaking or authoritarian or otherwise illegitimate tendencies of democratically elected officials. Others decry them as a self-serving authoritarian cabal that illegally and illegitimately undermines democratically elected officials and the policies they were elected to implement.

The truth is that the deep state, which is a real phenomenon, has long been both a threat to democratic politics and a savior of it. The problem is that it is hard to maintain its savior role without also accepting its threatening role. The two go hand in hand, and are difficult to untangle.

Next, as the chips may fall, the media will insist it was always aware of and against the deep state machinations. Then, anyone who questions that will be a conspiracy nut. Keep your eye on the ball.

What does this mean? Who knows. I’m still not completely convinced there’s a “storm” coming, as useful as that would be. One can hope. There’s no doubt, call them what you will, there is a crooked band of Satanists lurking just under the surface. I am convinced, come what may, most of the public will remain willfully ignorant of or indifferent to the truth.

If, when all this proves reality, America, what will you do about it? The remote, the brewers, and the tattooists await your wise, informed decision.

After several months of neglect I decided, tonight, to clean out the comments backlog over at FP. I did this manually, knowing that amidst all the Russian election hackers and China-Bots there might be real people trapped in the Spamville jail. There were. Three. Three out of maybe 700… The good news is that hopefully this will train the WP AI (Perrin hopeful of AI…) to kill this crap automatically in the future. It’s still a new site with a really new reboot on theme.

That works. I’ve been knocking down the spammers, here, for almost 6 years. I rarely get any now. Double-checked tonight and confirmed – only 9 POS attempts over the same time period.

Back to FP, there was more good news! Along with all that shit about free money, porn, free porn money, Costco generic Viagra (who knew?), cat paintings(??), virus invitations, incomprehensible gibberish, and foreign criminal solicitations, I found the most charming spam I have ever encountered.

I found this:

(Posted without gmail address. And, don’t y’all go surfing for the house finisher…).

It was so touching I almost let it pass. Are these not those lost Chicago lyrics we’ve heard legend tell of?

You’re the meaning in my life,

You’re my inhalation…

And to think my prepper shenanigans would make a reclusive web logger run out of the post. Hope he’s (she’s) (it’s?) not AWOL or something. Or maybe he/she/it has given up the crack pipe for whatever the hell post he/she/it/zir was inhaling on there. No idea.

But I do know this gem of a post, highly reflective of this “highly respected web log,” rarely causing run outs, beats the slow Sunday evening alternative: commentary on Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the DC funny farm…

Night!

Trouble in Paradise?

Down in Cigar-Land people seem to tire of Daniel Ortega, again:

Mr Ortega has offered talks but protest leaders have refused, saying police violence must stop first.

Government buildings have been damaged or set on fire, and troops have been deployed in several cities.

Students from Polytechnic University in Managua have barricaded their campus. At least 100 people have been injured.

Pope Francis has called for an end to the violence and for differences to “be resolved peacefully and with a sense of responsibility.”

One human rights group reported that the death toll was more than 25.

Ortega got his political start as a student protester. Full circle. The funding, or lack thereof, for government pensions is and/or will be a sore point from Managua to Paris to Hartford.

No word whether this has reached Esteli or Jalapa. Leave the leaves out of this, please.

Y’all stay safe.

Amazing Amerikan Woman Tries to Change World, Fails Horribly

Horribly. Miserably. This story is beyond sad; simply horrifying:

How this Midwestern mom ended up married to an ISIS sniper

Yahoo! ran a representative picture right up front (but don’t be fooled):

dc12fd5285e6d58aec4f634a0cc09952

A pretty good, almost Madison Avenue worthy start, but … read on:

Samantha Sally spoke to CNN about how her “romantic” second marriage to Moroccan-born husband Moussa Elhassani resulted in an unexpected move to Syria in 2014. Once there, Elhassani became violent and joined ISIS as a sniper.

“Before he would spoil me,” the 32-year-old American said. “We were very much in love. The romance never left. As soon as we came here, it changed. I was a dog. I didn’t have any choice. He was extremely violent. And there was nothing I could do about it. Nothing.”

The family ended up settling in Raqqa, Syria, where Sally gave birth to two more children. In addition to Elhassani’s violent behavior, she was subjected to abuse from ISIS leaders, including a three-month stretch in jail while she was pregnant. Sally says that she was tortured, sexually abused, and put in solitary confinement while being accused of espionage on behalf of the U.S.

Their home life eventually included the purchase of three Yazidi slaves — two teenage females and one young boy — captured by ISIS. Both girls were raped by Elhassani, though Sally defends having them stay in her home.

“No one will ever know what it is like to watch their husband rape a 14-year-old girl,” she said. “Ever. And then she comes to you — me — after crying and I hold her and tell her it’s going to be OK. Everything is going to be fine, just be patient.

“I would never apologize for bringing those girls to my house,” she added. “They had me and I had them. And we knew that if we were just patient, we would stick together. You understand? In any other situation, they would be locked in a bedroom and fed tea every day. And the situation I was in with them, we cooked together, we cleaned together. Drank coffee together. Slept in the same room together. I was like their mother.”

Her eldest son, Matthew, was also taken advantage of and was made to appear in videos on behalf of the terrorist group. Sally’s objection to his participation resulted in a beating and two broken ribs.

Things changed when Elhassani was killed in a drone strike in 2017. Sally and her family eventually left Raqqa and were detained soon after. They remain in custody and wait for U.S. officials determine whether her affiliation with ISIS merits jail time.

Sally, meanwhile, is hopeful that she and her four children are able to return to the U.S.

“I will do anything to get my kids back where they belong,” she said. “If I have to spend 15 years in prison, it’s better than anything here.

“Me and my kids, we talk about wanting to eat McDonald’s,” she continued. “We want to live a normal life again.”

So. Did you catch it? This was one of the most vile, racist reads I’ve seen since I don’t know when. It’s like David Duke, Robert E. Lee, and Richard Spencer conspired to write an evil, dystopian fictional plot. But, sadly, this one is all too real.

I’ll never, for the life of me, understand women like this. Living with the slanderous allegations of being a “terrorist” and of “treason” do not justify her. The insult and shame of being expected to apologize for her savage “husband’s” illicit amorous affairs is not an excuse. Nor was seeing her cockroach “husband” squashed like what he was. No excuses. None.

After experiencing the very best of diversity, an immersion class if you will – the tribal war, idiotic violence, slavery, abuse, child rapes, broken ribs, traitorous behavior, etc. – this bigot had the audacity to contrast the great good of the barbarous stone-age world with “normal life” back in America. Normal. Life. In America…

How can she shun the very cultural enrichment which will surely save Western Civilization by destroying it? It boggles the mind.

She even thinks 15 years in American prison is “better than anything [in the land of greatest pride, strength, and human dignity].”

Leave her in jail where she is. That’s where she belongs. The kids can come back. Maybe they can share with the deplorables all the good lessons they learned living among our betters. Maybe.
