The Confessions of Congressman X

The Confessions of Congressman X by “Congressman X” is a stunning tell-all tale due out on May 24, 2016. The anonymous author is either a sitting member of the Congress or a recently departed former member. What he’s saying, to me, is a confirmation. For others it may come as a stunning wake-up call (if they can hear it).

Mill City Press, Amazon.

If you’re still asleep, new to my site, or just arrived from outer space, know this: “you’re” elected officials (virtually all of them) think you are a stupid sheep; they care absolutely nothing about you except for use as a pawn in their crooked schemes for power and easy living. Consider the book’s description:

A devastating inside look at the dark side of Congress as revealed by one of its own! No wonder Congressman X wants to remain anonymous for fear of retribution. His admissions are deeply disturbing. . .
“Most of my colleagues are dishonest career politicians who revel in the power and special-interest money that’s lavished upon them.”
“My main job is to keep my job, to get reelected. It takes precedence over everything.”
“Voters are incredibly ignorant and know little about our form of government and how it works.”
“It’s far easier than you think to manipulate a nation of naive, self-absorbed sheep who crave instant gratification.”
“Fundraising is so time consuming I seldom read any bills I vote on. Like many of my colleagues, I don’t know how the legislation will be implemented, or what it’ll cost.”
“We spend money we don’t have and blithely mortgage the future with a wink and a nod. Screw the next generation. It’s about getting credit now, lookin’ good for the upcoming election.”

  • Amazon

America, a “nation of naive, self-absorbed sheep who crave instant gratification.” I hate to think that this is how Democrats and Republicans look at their constituents but it is true. For their part the people tend to fit the description, especially if one adds to it: fat, slovenly, lazy, effeminate, soft, short-sighted, blind, and foolish.

Many thanks to Michael Snyder for bringing this work to my attention. I’m planning to get a copy, particularly if it is available on Kindle. I bet I already know 97% of what’s in it but, like I said, it is mere confirmation. You too should invest in a copy. 84 pages should be a quick read. I hope you get super angry. Then, I hope you get to work. These filthy psychopaths are the enemies of the free people.

The first step is to recognize that we have an enemy. The evidence is everywhere and on everything they touch. Second, we, all of us, must stop supporting these fiends and cringelings. Do not vote for them, talk to them, or wish them well. One doesn’t get termites out of the house by dividing them into two camps and picking one to coddle over the other. Like termites, we must be totally rid of this political pestilence. Either that or prove Congressman X and his friends right for eternity.

books, economy, freedom, ideas, James Altucher, work

James Altucher is a genius or at least he keeps coming up with great ideas. He’s not afraid to act on them either, though he seems to keenly understand the importance of timing.

I highly recommend you read his lengthy article, How To Quit Your Job the Right Way, April, 2016. The initial concept is that sooner or later your employer won’t need you (or won’t be in business) and it is best to diversify yourself before a layoff comes along. He delves into personal solutions for numerous modern problems – the changing/declining economy, escaping debt slavery, working smarter, and pursuing passions. He also goes into idea creation and networking.

James and one of his great books. Forbes.com.

James on the 80/20 rule at work:

The 80/20 rule refers originally to the fact that 20% of the seeds planted in a garden will result in at least 80% of the flowers that eventually blooming the garden.

It’s applied to every area of life. 20% of employees do 80% of the work.

20% of your customers, will result in 80% of your profits.

20% of your studying will result in 80% of what you remember.

And so on.

But what if you square it. So 20% of 20% of what you do will result in 80% of 80% of what you value.

So 4% of your work will result in 64% of the value.

Square it again. 1% of your work will result in 48% of the value.

This is the rule I like. 1% of the seeds planted in the garden will result in almost 50% of the flowers that will bloom.

This is how I know I can do many 2 week experiments to see what will eventually work in my life.

Instead of wasting my time on going out at night or watching TV I can take some days to start these two week experiments.

I wonder if you are like me. If you take certain stories. Certain questions. Squirrel them a way into your soul so you can peek at them later.

Let mystery wink at you.

Networking:

But here’s the real important thing to remember: networking compounds.

If I meet you today, I know you forever. And you might even tell others about me. Some will. Some won’t.

Do that every day and over years, your network becomes huge.

I am the worst networker possible. I am shy. I don’t cold call people. I am nervous meeting people.

But over years it’s compounded. Do favors for people. Introduce people in your network.

The value in your network is not the list of people you know, it’s the list of connections between all of those people.

That’s how you make networking exponentially powerful instead of linear.

The more people you can introduce to each other, the more value you bring.

I found this to be one of his more inspiration articles in a long, deep line of inspirations. Give the full article a read and then check out some of his books. Start with Choose Yourself.

No, I was not paid for this plug. I’m just passing on great information.

Cheers!

I hate to admit it but I have soooo many drafts and manuscripts in the hopper – about as many as I have draft articles for this site. Then again, I’m happy to have the material to work with.

Over the past few months I’ve gathered a bit of input from readers, suggestions for making The Happy Little Cigar Book even better. Thank you all. Some want more stories, some more recommendations. Many, if not most, want pictures. I am considering an expanded Second Edition – with pics! I’m also developing ideas for two (or more) Sequels of sorts.

In the existing book I tossed out the idea of Cigar Stories, wall to wall tales about cigars and the folks who smoke them. I’ve certainly heard and lived enough for another volume. Another possibility is a guide book to better cigar shops. I figure I can start in America and maybe later tour Europe for yet another edition.

A tour book would require extensive travel, considerable time and expense. As is I am pressed for sorely needed new equipment and software. A GoFundMe page might be in order. I’ll give that one some thought.

Then there are all the works in progress. You’ll need a new bookshelf before I’m done.

Cheers! Perrin.

Amazon, books, publishing, The Happy Little Cigar Book, Vox Day

Traditional book publishers are rapidly losing market share. This is bad news (overdue) for them and great news for the rest of us. These established houses hold both authors and the reading public hostage: writers, by limiting royalties and holding rights and; the public, by limiting available titles to what editorial staffs see as worthy.

The technology age has shattered the old monopoly. Now, even mid-wit, cost smoking bloggers can publish books – immediately available to readers. Independent presses, print on demand services, Amazon and Kindle are seizing a huge market share while opening competition and choices.

Fortune reports:

According to the figures from Author Earnings — which are based in part on regular samples of Amazon sales data — what’s really been happening is that the market share of established publishers has been declining, while sales of independently published e-books have been growing. In particular, sales of books that don’t even have industry standard ISBN numbers have increased.

Look at this chart:

aap-unit-sales

Fortune.

Vox Day notes the traditional industry is collapsing.

This is a serious problem for the major publishers because ebook sales are a literally less-than-zero-sum game at this point in time. Regardless, it’s not so much the direct competition that threatens to do the big publishers in as it is the new X-factor in ebook sales, which is Kindle Unlimited. Notice which two types of publishers have been doing well since the KU change: Amazon and Small to Medium Publishers.

Good news for you! If I had gone with a dinosaur publishing company, I would still be waiting on someone’s approval. You, many of you, would not be reading The Happy Little Cigar Book right now.

As is, just today, I received 100 copies for local distribution and signing events. Then there is Amazon. Hooray! Order when ready, friends.
