Literally, out on a horse for the first time in almost twenty years.
A great, all-too-short vacation unto the hills. Get away when you can.
Elk at the park.
Winnebago, the largest and most unpredictable horse I’ve ever ridden. Almost took a tumble in the river. His antics kept me from filming a video. A wonderful animal; actually made the rider work.
Note the glow about the rider…
See a rule, break a rule.
And … thank God for coffee.
Brought to you, kind of, by:
Peter’s Pancakes and Waffles: “Breakfast to Crow About.” Also a cup of black coffee for equestrian recoveries.
Carpenter’s Corner (At The Depot): When mom needs a custom porch swing and youngins want to watch a cool model train, it’s Carpenter’s.
Happy Sunday!

cars, Eric Peters, future, government, horse, law, Perrin, robots
Peters, again, on the next step towards total control over your vehicular travel.
V2V is a critical step toward the replacement of autonomous cars with automated cars – which must be aware (like the Terminator) of their environment, of the other cars within a certain radius of their position at any given moment. This in order to anticipate the need to alter course or speed to avoid impacting another car.
Which the car will do – without any input from you.
For saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafety, of course.
That is how it’s being presented – and it’s on that basis it will be force-fed to us. Including those of us who want nothing to do with it. Can you say rip tide?
About half of all new cars already have or offer (it’s not yet mandatory) automated braking and steering “assist.” The car decides it’s necessary to stop – and applies the brakes if you don’t.
It steers itself in the direction it thinks is right.
The fully automated and therefore no longer autonomous car will come standard with these things. And for the potential of this technology to be maximized, all cars must come standard with these things – as well as the V2V ability to constantly chatter with all the other cars in the immediate vicinity.
And – the really Big Thing – they will chatter with a central hive brain of some sort. Which will coordinate and control the whole enchilada. The central hive brain will be in constant contact with – and in constant control of – all the automated cars.
It’ll be like having a cop with a two-way radio riding shotgun – only worse because it will be a Super Cop. A single, central all-controlling cop who cannot be dodged – much less bargained with.
Prepare to kiss your own driving goodbye (maybe in ten to twenty years, maybe sooner). Many or most will welcome this. I will not.
Luckily I think I may have found (re-discovered) my own solution.
The glow. PL.

inJust the other day I launched my Patreon page.
I actually got my first real, live patron and I didn’t even have any material up. Thanks to THE Safari Man! A longtime reader, here, has the high honor of being the first to take the next step, there.
I just put up my first two substantive posts. One is a video and one is a blog article link. Both were released just today. I am working on that first great paid feature piece. It’s going to be a commentary (with some advice) on Education in America today.
Those of you, here, will be able to see a preview. The goodly Patrons from Patreon will get the whole thing. Membership has it’s advantages…
Please join the revolution.

Please watch the following video:

Could have been better, perhaps, but it’s a start. More to come soon.
A hilarious outtake from the filming:
Needs help, huh? Please do.
Here’s a site preview:
This is the next big step, one that will go a long way towards modernizing and expanding my operations and reach.
Please stay tuned. More great stuff to come. Thanks.

inSo, it’s a little late without a post today…
I had some stuff in the hopper: something about the Church; earnings and buying power flat for 50 years; something about immigration; blah, blah, blah. Where’s the fun in all that?
Then I remembered something else I’ve been working on, something to make a much easier post for me and smoother Sunday night reading for me. I’m on a quest for a new used suitcase.
Many of you seemed to enjoy my conquest of the Briefcase World, last year.
And, earlier last year, I had mentioned the utter impossibility of finding a new man’s suitcase.
I may have found the solution! I’m thinking hard about this:
Looking at the big one; it is spot on for what my old man used to carry. And that means carry by the handle – lifted up off the ground, no matter the weight. A real, 1970’s, hard-sided, manly Samsonite. No wheels, no straps, no women, no kids, no pets.
This is how they used to do it before the wheels of Bernard D. Sadow (yeah, I know his name, now) came along and the country went to hell:
Two cases, no wheels, and still smiling.
Still investigating but I may have found it. Developing – more to come…
Good evening, all.

I just accepted a request to run a guest post (maybe more than one), here at perrinlovett.me. The intrepid requester is a young (I presume) lady who has a pretty interesting portfolio. Why she wants to run on the Benny Hill Show of the interwebs is beyond me. It should be fun regardless. Developing…
I don’t have much of a history with guest posting, zero actually. I only ever sought out two guests and they fizzled. That was around 2014. I talked to two other men about it and they ended up starting their own blogs. Then, I’ve had a few I turned down. New territory here and now.
However, in responding to the young lady, I had to try to articulate some guidelines about the site. Like Batman I have a code I go by. But it’s not written down and, unlike Bats, I feel free to break it at will. This became an interesting paradox for me. I felt like I was on the hot seat for some reason. Now I’m thinking about the evolution from 2012 until now. It’s something I think I’ll study a little.
Okay, I ramble – which has always been rule number one.
Just keep your eyes open.
One thing I admitted to her, that I’ve hinted around with you, and which should be obvious from the day-to-day content, is that terrorism posts have become all too common here. I don’t make the stories up and they fit with my theme of continuing Western civilization.
I fear another one is right around the corner. That, in a minute…

inYesterday, Memorial Day 2017, I visited and toured a museum in Clearwater. Well, it was part museum, part aquarium, and part bay cruise – a great way to spend a scorching holiday afternoon.
Not being of the more daynte piscis set, I failed to grasp much of the entertainment offerings. There was a dolphin without a tail. There were some 4,000 or so humans without brains.
The dolphin sports a prosthetic appendage. The overweight droolers were similarly amended; each carried the ubiquitous cellular mind.
Towards the end of the day I did discover the point of the whole place. In a corner in a movie set (they made a movie about the place … or a place for a movie…) I found this:
I was pleased to know someone would dedicate a museum and a feature film (starring Morgan Freeman?) to a Partagas box. Sure, some dolt removed the lid and stuffed the thing with baseball cards or other non-tobacco rubbish. But it was the thought that mattered.
And the traffic. The traffic mattered and was horrendous.
