The Battle of Orlando

Terrorism, mass shooting, a mass murder – the shooting this weekend in Orlando was all of those things. I didn’t comment yesterday because I was on the road (from Florida to Georgia). I had time to reflect on the carnage, to reflect on where America is now, and to listen to the various talking heads. I learned a good deal about this attack though there is plenty more that needs explaining. Much will likely go unexplained.

One thing is certain: in addition to a terrorist attack and a mass murder, the shooting at the Pulse nightclub was a battle in a larger war. I dub it the Battle or Orlando (fought June 11 – 12, 2016). We lost that battle. We have lost almost all of these battles. The only exception I can think of is the failed attack on that cartoon convention in Texas (that one was obviously not well thought out – have two men go up against an army of angry and heavily armed Texans).

I, like any civilized man, am saddened by this terrible loss of life. The demographics of the victims in this case makes no difference to me; jihadis regularly attack any and all people. While I grieve like most I am not the least bit surprised by the event – I predicted it only a week ago.

“ISIS” is probably about as real as “al qaeda” – both likely joint CIA/Israeli/MI-6 projects. Just as Trump stirs up nationalism, patriotism, conservatism, etc., so ISIS stirs up the various and many radicals of the Islamic world. So it is that ISIS can herald June the “month of conquest and jihad” against the West. “…ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani called on jihadists to ‘get prepared, be ready … to make it a month of calamity everywhere for nonbelievers…especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America.’” It’s Ramadan but who knew we already had a caliphate?

There will be muslim terror attacks – there always are. But, they have less to do with the fiction of ISIS than with the incredible stupidity and tolerance of apparently suicidal westerners.

The attacks for the caliphate have already started … on June 3rd … in California … at a Donald Trump rally. The merger of fictions.

There will be attacks. There have been attacks. There will be more attacks. By the way, still no word on the arrest of Houdini the jihadi. He’s probably safe back in Minnesota planning his next attack. Battles are attacks in a war.

This problem is complex and long-standing but I have previously explained a way to stop the violence from continuing. It involves two steps: first, stop constantly bombing and otherwise meddling with crazy people abroad, and; second, stop importing these savages into our countries (and get rid of those already here). I’m watching Donald Trump speak right now in New Hampshire about the second part of the equation. He says he will fix that part. I say he will not. Not only that, he will probably make the first part worse.

The “other side” is jumping on the gun control angle. Ask the people of Paris how gun control protected them last fall.

No “solutions” from Washington will help as Washington has created the problems – the war – to begin with. To them, in reality, these are not problems, but opportunities. They see opportunities for more war with great profits for bankers, defense contractors, and bureaucrats. More war means more”refugees” to bring into the welfare state. This will mean more acts of terrorism which will serve to keep the system going in perpetuity (unless we all get killed along the way).

NYPost.

The war is real.

[Shooter Omar] Mateen called emergency services during the shooting and pledged allegiance to the leader of the militant Islamic State group, officials said. Mateen’s father said his son was not radicalized but indicated the gunman had strong anti-gay feelings. His ex-wife described him as mentally unstable and violent toward her.

Islamic State reiterated on Monday a claim of responsibility. “One of the Caliphate’s soldiers in America carried out a security invasion where he was able to enter a crusader gathering at a nightclub for homosexuals in Orlando,” the group said in a broadcast on its Albayan Radio.

The group’s claim of responsibility does not mean it directed the attack, as it offered nothing to indicate coordination with the gunman.

As I said last weekend ISIS doesn’t have to coordinate anything because it doesn’t really exist. But the results of the fiction of ISIS are very real. Despite a lack of structure our enemies do not act alone in a vacuum. The odds are Omar had some sort of support from someone. The number of casualties in Orlando – from a gun attack – suggests there may have been accomplices who slipped away. Or it could just be that Omar was one of the best marksmen in history.

It is amazing that after any such incident, this one no different, the government and the media immediately have a solid picture of what happened and who did it. Fifty people are dead, more than fifty are wounded, and the identities of many are still being uncovered. However, it seems that everything was known instantly about Omar – who he was, where he’s from, how many times the FBI has investigated him, and how many training missions he undertook to Saudi Arabia. We know he previously scouted out Pulse along with Disney World. It’s almost like there was a ready script.

False flags come with scripts. Such attacks are designed to promote a political agenda and give cause for some sought-after political goal (war, spending, police state, etc.).  I’m not sure the Battle of Orlando was a false flag. In fact, I’m not sure the elites even need those types of catalysts anymore; the system seems to be on autopilot at this point. Regardless, this battle, while another bloody loss for the American people, is another win for the power-mongers.

The news for the people gets worse and worse. The FBI recently disclosed a hit list of 8,000 ISIS targets, most of whom are American citizens. The list contains names, addresses, email addresses, and other information. We not only have a Caliphate to deal with but a “United Cyber Caliphate” as well. Presumably the list is available to free agents like Omar to use at their convenience.

How would one go about finding out if one’s name appears on the list? Can the government be trusted to disclose any threats from the list? Can the government provide any protection? Will it? Normally the government’s role is to instigate the violence and then clean up the aftermath in a manner sure to foster future violence. None of this is reassuring.

While waiting on the politicians to tell more lies and for the government to do more of the evil same, normal Americans and other Westerners might be wise to consider taking matters into their own hands. This might include training and carrying firearms. It might mean avoiding popular locations which might invite attacks. However, history shows that any place can be a target. And constant vigilance produces fatigue. A better alternative (or component part) may be to pressure the government to stop the lethal meddling and other insane policies. The state at a minimum should not be supported nor encouraged. Why support an organization that causes so many problems?

Maybe preemptive strikes (or retaliatory at this point?) are in order. If ISIS can be de-centralized yet effective, why can’t we? The sad thing is that the otherwise complicit government would crack down on such actions with a vengeance. They will not allow any interference in their plans.

Maybe there is no solution right now. As bad as things were at Pulse this weekend the saddest part will be the extreme rapidity with which most people will forget the whole affair. Remember the Battle of Orlando – one of long and growing number.

FDA ASSAULTS CIGAR INDUSTRY

I like cigars. I hate government. I really really hate when government interferes with cigars. As if the regulations, restrictions and taxes, taxes, and even more taxes aren’t enough, now the FDA is hell-bent on yet more dastardly regulation of the good leaf.

This issue has been on my radar for a while but it was brought back to my attention over the past few weeks via murmurs I hear in the shops I frequent. Then I saw this Facebook post/plea from my friend Patrick Vivalo:

nimbus-image-1463964608610

Thank you Patrick (and re-post of Russell Wilder).

I think I signed the petition some time back. And I’m not really into petitions (or remembering them).

The FDA’s new rules would wreak havoc on the cigar business through some of the strangest, communist bullshit imaginable. “New” cigars, meaning those crafted since 2007, would have to be inspected and approved by Big Brother. Older, pre-2007 sticks would be exempt. The approval process (GAWD only knows how that will work) will be both time-consuming and onerously expensive – I’ve heard estimates in the hundreds of thousands per cigar type. And more and worse is to come.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE!!!!! I have the first ever photograph of a prototype FDA cigar inspector. Yes, this dude (or someone like him) will regulate our smokes:

U.S. FDA Office of Idiocy.

I could care less what the stated reasons for this unnecessary intrusion into my hobby are. I suspect the FDA wants to protect all of those children one is constantly tripping over at the local cigar shop – every bit as common as honest politicians and useful regulators!

Reading through the Constitution I found no authority for cigar regulation. I double checked, doubting my own senses. Still not there. In fact the word”cigar” does not appear even once in the text. Believe it or not, the FDA isn’t mentioned either. A reading of what is in there would lead one to think the government does not have legal authority to regulate cigars – or much of anything else. Odd, that. Not to worry; what the feds lack in legality, they make up for with threats and sheer violence. Tyranny, I think they call it.

Patrick and Russell and many others signed the petition. Russell even went to Washington (an act of supreme bravery and sacrifice) on a mission with other industry leaders to protest this meddlesome evil in Congress. I hate to say they failed … but here we are back at the petition again. (Two petitions – one for the criminals in Congress and one for the chief criminal in the Whitehouse.) I fear none of this will work.

A better, more comprehensive approach would be to get an honest member of Congress to initiate legislation to abolish the FDA entirely. Somehow humanity survived without it up until 1906. Given the departure of Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, it might be just as worthwhile to consult the Wizard of Oz on this matter…

Petitions, Congress, the President, and the various apparati of the bureaucracy are all by-products of the Constitution which established this particular corrupt government in the first place. Like all systems, this one was destined to grow dangerously out of control. Working within the system to fix the system is insane and self-defeating. The Constitution created the government; government killed the Constitution; “let’s have the government follow the Constitution!” Get it? It’s kind of like trying to get to know the termites and reason with them so they won’t eat your house. That won’t work. Tents and gas work.

Thomas Jefferson said, “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it’s natural manure.” The tree is all but dead in Amerika despite the copious amounts of unnatural manure lying about D.C. At any rate, our “patriots” are now completely preoccupied with television, chasing fake money, sports, and other triviality. “Ain’t nobody got time for revolution!”

So we humbly petition our masters to mind their own business. These regulatory measures, very likely to come to pass, will not kill the business just yet. Life will go on. Children will be safe. Voodoo, busybody inspectors will be well paid.

You, the non-cigar reader, might pause to wonder why you should care about this issue. It doesn’t concern you directly. Yet, you rest assured the ever-benevolent forces of the state have some new regulatory scheme in mind for what does concern you. “First they came for the cigar lovers…”

Last night Hussein Obama gave what (Lord be praised) should be his final state of the Empire address to Congress. Per my usual abstinence I did not watch the presentation. I stopped watching during the stuttering, mumbling days of W. It’s a decision I have never regretted. There is always a news story the next day with highlights (lowlights?) or even transcripts if needed.

This morning I reviewed the New York Times version of the event. Nothing really jumped out at me as particularly important or impressive. It seemed like the ordinary list of hollow platitudes and promises mixed with Obama’s usual “look at me” self-lauding. It was harmless if pointless. Nothing truthful was told about the state of the Union as required by the Constitution. This is most forgivable as the Constitution was long since abandoned by Washington. Further, the remains of the Old Republic are not worth reporting on anymore.

Presidents often play stupid tricks at these spectacles both to build applause among the gathered rodent corpses and to wow the ever-gullible television audiences. Obama’s trick last night involved the gallery seating on either side of the First Lady. To her right was an empty seat which somehow represented the victims of gun crimes. This meaningless charade built on Hussein Obama’s last speech about whittling away the Second Amendment. Maybe the seat was reserved for an actual victim whom could not be lured into the show. Something last-minute perhaps?

Of course, there was no mention of the millions of lives saved guns. The space required could have only been found on the National Mall. These folks are not victims nor would any of them wasted their time attending. I declare the whole massive empty space outside the Capital represented the beneficiaries of gun violence.

Empty seat at a hollow show. STEPHEN CROWLEY / THE NEW YORK TIMES.

One of the cats seated with Michelle was a Syrian “refugee” recently added to your tax doll. Hussein Obama bragged of his handling of the “refugee” crisis and related terrorism and foreign policy issues. There has been no confirmation as to whether the “refugee” in attendance is a known member of ISIS. Following Obama’s gun speech last week, when he declared criminals don’t use stolen guns, an ISIS member/criminal used a stolen gun to attack a police officer in Philadelphia. I doubt Obama took the opportunity to correct his previous statement in light of reality. Reality rarely makes an appearance at these sessions.

When not congratulating himself on his seven years of brilliant success Obama took potshots at the Republicans vying to replace him. Looking into the future, these shots are likely warranted. I won’t watch Obama’s successors but I can imagine their follies and symbolic shenanigans.

The Commoder in Grief also portrayed terrorism abroad and the domestic economy as problems solved. Ignoring Paris, the German new years rapes, the dreadful state of Europe and the Middle East, San Bernardino, Philadelphia, and the dire threats posed by Islamic invaders all across the West, terrorism does indeed seem in decline.

The economy, outside of stocks, bonds, commodities, cash, interest rates, jobs, manufacturing, debt, homelessness, hopelessness, welfare, and all other quantifiable measures, is improving. It’s doing so well one of twenty largest banks in the world this morning announced that 2016 portends a “cataclysmic year” and that investors should “sell everything.” Neither the President, Congress, nor you should be troubled by such miniscule details.

“Mr. Obama sought to pose and answer the four central questions his aides said were driving the debate about America’s future, including how to ensure opportunity for everyone, how to harness technological change, how to keep the country safe, and how to fix the nation’s broken politics.” New York Times.  The answers to these questions are each the same: get the government out of the damned way. I doubt that was Obama’s answer as he did not immediately resign while encouraging his fellows to do likewise.

He harped on Republicans to help him finish off the economy by completing his ObamaTrade legislation. I suppose they will given enough time.

One proposal he made actually made sense. As such it will never come to fruition. Perhaps due to a teleprompter malfunction Obama implored Congress to reform America’s criminal “justice” system.

That system is broken to the point of being institutionalized injustice and tyranny. The truly criminal government keeps itself in business by making fake criminals out of its entire population. The Constitution describes three federal crimes, not the three bazillion currently on the books. In a real system of justice the President and his audience would be rounded up and tried for Treason. Again, reality is not suffered in D.C. These problems will not be fixed by the same dastardly fiends that created them.

The rest of the address was more taxes, more spending, more programs and more Obama. If he wants a historical legacy, I just wrote it for him in one sentence.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley delivered the empty GOP retort to Obama’s empty blathering. She said nothing important though, in typical Republican fashion, she did pander to the Likudniks: “We would make international agreements that were celebrated in Israel and protested in Iran, not the other way around…” Perish the thought someone in the American government do anything to be celebrated in America.

Empty, hollow, vapid, useless – another evening with “our” government. State and status aside, the odor of the Union is strong.

Somebody Went to a Convention and All I Got Was This Lousy Constitution

About twenty years ago Newt Gingrich and the Republican party foisted upon the people something called “the contact with America.” It was a typical hollow pledge to do great things – cut the budget, reduce debt, make life freer and happier, etc. It was a gimmick and for that purpose only it was a success. I think every single provision failed. In fact, we got the exact opposite – less freedom but more of everything else government.

The masses love a good gimmick. They also have short memories. This makes for good political sport. As carnival goers flock to one rigged, losing game after another so do the people cheerfully fall for a never-ending assortment of grandiose election schemes.

All this leads me to Jonathan the Tortoise. At age 183 this remarkable reptile is the world’s oldest living animal. Over the long-span of his blissful, apple eating life Jonathan has outlasted dozens or scores of Presidents, Prime Ministers, Congresses, Kings, Queens and various other con artists and criminals. Maybe by the time the spry, jolly turtle turns 283 the world will have outgrown the foolishness of the state.

All this leads me, back around from Jonathan, to the current governor of Texas, Greg Abbott. Greg has proposed the nuclear option of the political gimmick world – a Constitutional Convention.

Actually he has called for a convention of the states which is really the same thing but substitutes idiots in Congress with idiots in state capitals. It’s in Article Five of the old parchment.

“If we are going to fight for, protect and hand on to the next generation, the freedom that [President] Reagan spoke of … then we have to take the lead to restore the rule of law in America,” Greg said to a gathering of policy hacks in the Lone Star State. He proposed to restore that rule of law by adding yet more laws. (What’s a little more sand on the beach?)

His proposal itself ran on for 70 pages and outlined a host of new Constitutional Amendments (more laws). Tully once reminded us that more laws mean less justice. Truly, it only ever results in more government. Fuel on the fire and such.

I would happily support, even participate in, a convention if its sole purpose was to abolish the United States. Of course, even that would only buy a few generations of liberty. People like government and heaps of it. Anyway, here’s a look at Greg’s potential amendments and what they would and wouldn’t do. (All following proposals taken from Dallasnews.com; my remarks italicized).

Prohibit congress from regulating activity that occurs wholly within one state. We already have this protection; it just doesn’t work. Congress can only regulate activities affecting interstate commerce which, over the past century, has been defined as anything. Stating something twice does not deter tyranny.

Require Congress to balance its budget. I almost like this one but I imagine there would be no controls on the amount of the budget nor on how the balancing might be achieved. The thieves could always print money or pile on more taxes as necessary and without end. If the current state system must be maintained, then a better limit would be to ban debt, establish a private gold currency, and abolish taxation completely. In other words, and as it once was, Washington would be left to beg the states or the people for funding without guaranteed results.

Prohibit administrative agencies from creating federal law.
Prohibit administrative agencies from preempting state law. These agencies are not allowed under the Constitution in the first place. Better to put an end to them and their Byzantine rules altogether.

Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a U.S. Supreme Court decision. Congress has the power to override the Court or even preempt it as is. It just doesn’t use the power. The States gave up their claim on Congress via the 17th Amendment. States would be free to ignore Court decisions but that might endanger their federal funding. They gave up their money with the 16th Amendment. Almost like a plan or something.

Require a seven-justice super-majority vote for U.S. Supreme Court decisions that invalidate a democratically enacted law. See my answer immediately above. Also, every once in a while the Supreme Court needs to rule on important Constitutional issues, democratic or not. Democracy, mob-rule with a fancy name, should be shunned in civilized places.

Restore the balance of power between the federal and state governments by limiting the former to the powers expressly delegated to it in the Constitution. This might mean repealing 16 and 17 Amendments. It might also mean the exact same as the 10th. The Empire is already so limited on paper, by law. Again, there is no magic in redundancy.

Give state officials the power to sue in federal court when federal officials overstep their bounds. Proper redress under the existing law is carried out in Congress. On paper, that is. In reality, there is no redress. Given the self-imposed legal interference I noted previously, I do not see the value in shifting venue between the branches. Also, as Greg seems to have an aversion to federal courts, this one seems self-defeating.

Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a federal law or regulation. I think I’ve covered this already. Those states have essentially given up their authority for cheap federal fiat money. It’s called getting what you pay for. Any state is free to override or ignore any act of Congress it finds offensive. However, the cost is generally prohibitive, monetarily speaking. A really offended state is free to leave the union. But, then, there was the long, painful lesson of 1861-1865.

Another thing to consider is the woeful quality of the people who might attend and vote in the convention. The men who debated the Constitution of old may just as well done so eons ago on a planet long destroyed in some celestial cataclysm. People today obtain their worldview from babbling, paid for nitwits on television. Their “representatives” are the most loathsome, self-absorbed, and corrupt rodents to emerge from the political sewer since Roman times. Knowing who these people are there is no knowing what evil they might do given the chance.

As I have repeated here, repeatedly, repeating laws and policies does not make them stick. It just gives the vampire class more to feed on. One hundred years hence some other governor would likely call, again, for the same failed limitations already set forth in the failed Constitution. Einstein and insanity or something similar.

It would be refreshing if this turned out to be an honest effort, misguided as it seems.  I judge this a gimmick and unlikely to survive November’s slave suggestion box election. But for my reminder who would remember the GOP’s Contract? At any rate, these conventions move at a snail’s pace. It’s more likely than not the next big change in American law will be the implementation of Sharia.

Long live Jonathan!

Cry Me To The Moon: Obama’s Weak, Insidious Gun Grab

As predicted here President Obama yesterday rolled out his “common sense” gun control edict. Edict it was, without any representative pretense. I saw a teary-eyed man surrounded by myrmidons issue a royal proclamation. Since the earliest days of the Old Republic chief executives have crafted executive orders needed to carry out the laws enacted by Congress. But, then, there was a distinction. Laws were debated and passed by the legislature nominally accountable to the people. Presidents issued orders concerning either compliance with those laws or with the very few duties existing in Article Two of the Constitution.

Today Congress rams through secret spending boondoggles that no one has read and no one outside of Washington and New York needs or wants. Members of the House and Senate live in their own little world far removed from reality. The current crop of pitiful presidents, of whom Barry is merely the latest, fill in the governing gaps with a series of orders which are in effect law. As with the actual legislation from Congress the executive orders are occasionally reviewed by the corrupt, incompetent courts. More often than not the black-robed sorcerers give deference to the political branches by allowing these fascist decrees to stand.

The Constitution slowly rots under glass. The people slowly rot amid their televisions, sports, fast food, and disability applications. Nothing remains of the old America except for old John Wayne movies and the proliferation of private firearms. At any other time in history this latter relic would be of utmost concern to the hellish legions of political scum.

The Second Amendment has been firmly if inexplicably cemented into the legal and political fabric of the nation. And everyone is armed – heavily. Not that it really matters. The most heavily armed people in the world have proven themselves unwilling or incapable of using their vast potential to fight tyranny. Disarmament is the final plank of the Communist manifesto needed to complete the conquest of the United States. However, by dumbing themselves down and by being fervently preoccupied with perpetual nonsense the people have rendered obsolete this otherwise crucial step. It’s as bizarre as any plot from The Twilight Zone.

Bizarre too was Hussein Obama’s Tuesday performance. I’m confident Barry and his clan of leeches and roaches would love to confiscate all private arms. But, again, he doesn’t have to. The people obviously are madly in love with the government and are willing, nay demanding, of any manner of deprivation.

So it was that the Whitehouse debuted some of the weakest gun control every seen. It was introduced in as weak a fashion possible too.

160105122318-obama-crying-gun-executive-action-sot-00004809-large-169

Obama channeled his inner John Boo-Hoo Boenher while a host of unemployable sycophants looked on in vacuous approval. CNN.

All of this was scripted and predictable. A corrupt politician seizes on a non-issue (gun violence). Grown men and women who should otherwise be at work gather in solemn support. The political rodent cries about the deaths of a few children (tragic, yes) but his tears are hypocritical. The same man uses his military to murder other children while signing legislation funding an industry that murders a million more babies each year. The loyal opposition is neither. The comatose people remain unconcerned and uneducated.

And he cried. Tears. A man cried on television while breaking the law. Cried. George Washington never cried that we know of. Putin does not resort to tears. ISIS must have laughed at this pathetic spectacle. The delivery is one reason I say this program is weak. Another is the minimalist, chipping-away nature of the plan.

Some of Obama’s garbage may be dismissed by the courts or over-ridden by Congress. It all should be. It’s all unconstitutional and illegal. However, I imagine some will remain intact and what survives will serve as precedent and a building block for further incremental infringement. This is the insidious side of the fiat decree. What the rats cannot accomplish by a serious ban of guns they will attempt through a series of small reforms.

The Whitehouse claims: “President Obama has a responsibility to do everything in his power to reduce gun violence.” The Constitution gives the President no such power. No mind. This claim is a lie; none of Obama’s proposals will hinder violence – only freedom.

As part of the lie the President uses some numerical smoke and mirrors:

Gun Violence in America: By the Numbers

MORE THAN 4 MILLION
Number of American victims of assaults, robberies, and other crimes involving a gun in the last decade

MORE THAN 30,000
Number of gun deaths in America each year

MORE THAN 20,000
Number of children under 18 killed by firearms over the last decade

MORE THAN 20,000
Number of Americans who commit suicide with a firearm each year

466
Number of law enforcement officers shot and killed by felons over the last decade

3
Number of days after which a gun dealer can sell a gun to an individual if a background check is not yet complete

         Whitehouse lies.

So, based on these one-sided figures, Emperor Obama is taking action! Notice the use of numbers over a decade rather than by the year? Notice the lack of data on lives saved by guns? It’s over a million a year or 10 million each decade. These numbers are equivalent to the number of children killed in abortion clinics or the number of violent jihadis Obama would like to import. Of course presenting all sides of the equation wouldn’t help the agenda. All lies, remember, in order to curtail freedom. Gun control does nothing to stop gun crimes. The government wants more crime so as to justify its continued existence.

If they wanted less crime and less violence they would concentrate on enforcing laws against real crimes (murder, rape, etc.) and not on plants, tax form irregularities and speed limits. They would stop stirring up terrorists only to ship as many as possible to America. They would stop murdering babies. That’s not the plan. The plan is to further burden innocent people.

Here’s how it may work out for us. Currently all gun sales by federally licensed dealers are subject to regulation and background checks. All of this violates the Second Amendment but more on that another day. Private gun sales are subject to nothing. That’s about to change. Obama is intent on unilaterally redefining what or who constitutes a dealer requiring a license and copious red tape. Want to sell or give a gun to your son, friend, or the dude on Craigslist? Just one gun? Congratulations! You are now a gun dealer! Ready your checkbook. The licensing process ain’t cheap.

Obama will also dramatically expand the ranks of those prohibited from owning guns via two steps. First, Obama and his cronies will order doctors to violate federal law (HIPPA) by reporting “mentally ill” patients to the FBI. The definition of mental illness will be left to unelected and unaccountable beaurocrats. Abuse will be rank. The FBI and the ATF will swoop in to seize weapons from those deemed mentally defective.

Certain Social Security recipients will also be stripped of their rights and their guns. The theory is that those deemed incapable of making certain financial decisions should also be deemed too dangerous to own guns. Who does the deeming and under what circumstances remains to be seen. This will address the epidemic of nursing home shootings you’ve heard nothing about.

Current illegal law restricts those convicted of felonies or adjudicated by a court to be psychotic. These restrictions are based on laws passed by the legislature not by one sick, crying man’s order. I say they are illegal because they are. They came about in the 20th Century in violation of the Second Amendment. If someone is so dangerous due to illness, defect, or criminal predilection, then they should be locked away somewhere. If released into free society, they should be free.

As problematic as the current law is at least it was passed through the legal process. It also requires Due Process. A felon must be convicted. The deranged must be legally declared so. It requires a trial or a hearing. It depends on legal representation, confrontation of witnesses, evidence, and an appeals process. Law and order stuff. The coming program will be based on whim.

Some pencil pusher will decide who is unfit to bear arms based on whatever factors the pusher sees as appropriate. Stormtroopers will be dispatched to forcibly disarm the victims or kill them if they “resist.” Should a victim survive it will be incumbent upon him to appeal the beaurocrat’s decision. He will bear all the costs and burdens of proof in this uphill battle. He, presumed innocent until proven guilty, will have to prove his innocence to a degenerate system.

This will all start small and slow. Tyranny usually does so begin. Some provisions may fall in court. However, if these reforms are tolerated, more and more will follow. Beaurocratic expansion is a constant.

Will this be tolerated? The NRA and the State of Texas have already murmured against the plan. Yet, I suspect the majority of our citizens will do nothing because they know nothing. Legal reality interferes with the fun of reality television and other trappings of modern stupidity.

The government and political establishment are counting on you to be complacent. The control freaks on the left will expect your appreciation for being shielded from nothing. The charlatans on the right will expect your votes so they can “fix” things. If placated, both will get what they want and collectively do nothing except more of the same.

A brave few will resist. A few more will cheer what they wrongly perceive as protection from the violent. Most will remain blissfully ignorant. Where do you fall?

How can a place essentially named “Washing Town” contain so much filth? The only thing awash is the corruption.

The past two weeks have seen inordinate stupidity flow from D.C., even by D.C. standards. In response to terrorism against the people Hussein Obama and his administration announced they will crack down on the people (little more than racist gun nuts, you know). Obama is a Democrat. Democrat, got it. The opposite of a Republican. To demonstrate their oppositeness the Republicans, led by Paul “Blackbeard” Ryan, passed a budget funding everything Obama holds dear.

Funding for Obamacare? In there. Funding for Planned Parenthood? In there. Funding for more terrorists? In there. Bigger government? Got it. More debt? Check. More war? Bombs away.

There will soon be more terrorist “refugees” admitted to the Empire than there are Republican voters in Iowa. Soon there will be more laws than there are people in this nation. Two parties, one result.

The people love it! They don’t just tolerate the insanity, they demand it with religious zeal. In between drunken binges of fantasy football and the Kartrashians they root for their own servitude. David Shellenberger explains the process:

They claim that we consent to be governed, government is our servant, and “we are the government.” This would mean that we consent to domination by criminals, the criminals serve us, and we are part of the criminal enterprise.

They give money to politicians, financing criminal contenders. They enjoy politics, seeing competition among criminals as entertainment. They vote, encouraging the criminal enterprise. They make demands of government, begging the criminals for favors.

Shellenberger, The Absurdity of Tolerating the State, May 18, 2014.

Of course, all this will change for the best immediately after next year’s election. Just like last time.

Before he goes John “Boo-Hoo” Boehner has one last trick up his sleeve. It’s just in time for Halloween too. Speaker Dearest has been working hard with his best friend, President Obama (TWO parties, remember), to raise the debt ceiling.

burning

If only. Google.

The potential treat for this season is that the government is all but broke. Without more debt it will have to shut down at least temporarily. That would be a blessing for the masses but it will not happen. The monied interests need the government operational so they can continue to loot the carcus of our economy.

Congress has money, yes. This year has seen record tax collections from both individuals and corporations – over $3 Trillion. Such a number would seem enough to finance anything. Anything except our corrupt beyond hope political and financial elites, that is. Printing more paper money is their only hope. As they have slammed into the statutory cap on borrowing once again, they must vote to raise the cap. They will.

As usual a few dissenters give the pretense of debate over the matter. It’s an act well scripted. They say they will hold up next year’s budget over the debt. They won’t. This year they have side lies to entertain the people. Funding of Planned Parenthood is another holdup. Rest assured the rats of the Potomac care no more about children than they do fiscal responsibility. All just an act in the weary play of American Decline.

Little of this makes the news. Paul Craig Roberts just, again, explained why – the U.S. media is but a puppet of the state and its owners. They report the truth in nothing. Not our wars. Not our money. The World Series, yes. Anything of substance, no.

Your favorite candidate, whomever that might be, is silent too. They’re too busy talking about themselves and each other at present. Should the debt or budget come up they will only have platitudes. Their stated plans are a continuation of the status quo. Bernie Sanders Claus is the exception. He wants to give everything away for free. That means even more debt and spending. It makes no sense. Then again, the voters are not known for reasoning ability. A guy promising goodies from the sky just might be their man. No difference.

Whoever of this latest pathetic crop gets the job will do exactly as he’s told. The Banksters and the Treasury beaurocrats must have more money to keep the smoke and mirrors economy running just a little while longer.

Faced both with imminent collapse and the prospect of angry, hungry, zombie-like idiot voters at their doors they are out of magic tricks. Spending cannot slow for even a day. The Federal Reserve cannot raise interest rates. The slightest breeze could now topple their house of cards. And, don’t laugh. You and I live in that house.

Only more debt, ridiculous spending and more of the same will prop up the system – for a while. Eventually the bell shall toll.

Were an omnipotent and benevolent being with governing super powers to directly intervene, the solution would be so simple:

Rather than making a show, boasting to impeach its chief criminal, the IRS could just be abolished. Relieved of taxation the people could keep their money. By abolishing the Fed and its monopoly on funny money, the cash the people keep would have actual value.

Starved of funding the government would really close down – for good. This would free the newly enriched free people from war, regulation, taxation, jail threats, airport strip searches, bad medicine, toilet tank size restrictions, marriage mandates, travel and trade restrictions, gun laws, labor laws, electoral cycle bullshit and a host of other horrors.

Those other people, the ravaging zombies, could be placated by feeding them the newly unemployed and utterly worthless mass of politicians, beaurocrats and central bankers. A collective burp later and all memory of the past corruption would erased.

Sunrise scene

Dawn shall come. Google.

Ah, for a quick and happy ending. No super being will show up. Things will go on. The end and the solution will not come quickly. But, come it will. Some day all the things I just hypothesised will come to pass in one way or another. Rome will burn and fall. Freedom and intelligence will return. Then, it will be happy.

Drone Cold Crazy

Years ago I pondered the menace of the Empire’s drone wars: here and here.

The New york Times has warned that 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue may be engaging in a “‘Whac-A-Mole’ approach to counterterrorism.”  Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, does it not? Silly old Jimmy Carter was laughed at for once stating he sought nuclear policy advice from his daughter. Now we have a deadly serious policy operating on the principles of a carnival game.

Droning On and On.

It seems “Whac-A-Mole” was the perfect description of the program. Read this: The Drone Papers. In Edward Snowden style someone has leaked detailed classified information about America’s drone wars.

The Intercept has obtained a cache of secret documents detailing the inner workings of the U.S. military’s assassination program in Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia. The documents, provided by a whistleblower, offer an unprecedented glimpse into Obama’s drone wars.

The Intercept.

From the “Firing Blind” section:

The Obama administration has portrayed drones as an effective and efficient weapon in the ongoing war with al Qaeda and other radical groups. Yet classified Pentagon documents obtained by The Intercept reveal that the U.S. military has faced “critical shortfalls” in the technology and intelligence it uses to find and kill suspected terrorists in Yemen and Somalia.

…

A report last year by retired Gen. John Abizaid and former Defense Department official Rosa Brooks noted that the “enormous uncertainties” of drone warfare are “multiplied further when the United States relies on intelligence and other targeting information provided by a host nation government: How can we be sure we are not being drawn into a civil war or being used to target the domestic political enemies of the host state leadership?”

In 2011, for example, U.S. officials told the Wall Street Journal that they had killed a local governor because Yemeni officials didn’t tell them he was present at a gathering of al Qaeda figures. “We think we got played,” one official said. (The Yemeni government disputed the report.)

We’re being played while we play with fire, firing blindly at phantoms of enormous uncertainty. That reminds me of the people’s part in electoral politics.

Shooting missiles at local politicians and goat-herders in foreign countries does nothing to fight terrorism. Muslim terrorists are in America and operating freely – in Boston, Oklahoma City, Chattanooga, etc. More are being imported by the master terrorists in Washington.

These proxy operations only serve the military-industrial complex and the bankers. And, we are rapidly running out of money to pay them.

All of this will end, it just won’t end well.

I recently wrote about the not so green American economy.

Turns out things are a little worse that I thought. This past financial quarter saw $11 Trillion in wealth wiped out of the stock market. That’s a lot of money, close to whole year’s GDP.

Economists are now saying the markets are at the panic levels last seen in 2008.

It looks like the housing bubble is back. And, it brought with it a stock bubble, a student loan bubble, a car loan bubble, and a potentially industry destroying banking bubble (really the same one from last time).

The central bankers and planners who along with their hired politicians caused these problems, are running out of ways to “fix” them. There is no conventional solution. There’s just too much debt freely floating around – all based on monopoly money. Factor in the derivatives bubble and it goes from surreal to purely hilarious.

I’ve been looking for a big incident, a market crash or war or something, to herald the next collapse. These things may well happen but it doesn’t matter. The decline in happening now – just in slow, unstoppable motion.

Google.

None of the big party charlatans seeking the Presidency have a solution. Most avoid the issue or, worse, propose making it more of a disaster. Since Ron Paul left, no one in Washington has any solution. Even if they did the corporate masters would never allow it while there remains one single penny to steal.

These troubles will ultimately resolve themselves. After the inevitable big national bankruptcy we will have the chance for a reset.  This should include universal debt repudiation and a return to a real monetary and financial system based on the free market. If done right there will be no room or need for any government meddling.

This future fresh start is the silver lining to look forward too. Make the best of the wild ride until then.

We Are Rome

Paul Rosenberg has penned an excellent article corolating the end times of the Roman Empire with those times upon us current Americans.  He starts off with commentary on the coming federal election next year.  I have friends already excited about the prospects thereof.  Most are gleefully supporting Donald Trump.  Others are leaning intrepidly towards Rand Paul or even Bernie Sanders.

Were a gun to my head and I was forced to participate, I would support Dr. Paul, the younger. However, I still stand by my mantra from 2007-2008: Dr. Paul, Sr. was the final hope (in 2008) to reverse course and “save” the Republic.  That chance we missed. It is done. Over. The Donald can’t save us. Bernie can’t do it. Hillary can’t. Certainly none of the other has-beens trotted out for our inspection can.

Another American election cycle is upon us, and large numbers of people are lining up to pour their time and money into the sewer of politics, to be lost forever.

This system will not be fixed. Period. This is Rome in 460 AD. The rulers, as in Rome, are liars, mad, or drunk (these days, drugged)… or all three.

Rosenberg

Those living few who have consumed Edward Gibbon’s History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire understand, in depth, what Rosenberg alludes to here.

Do we really believe that central bankers will just lay down their monopolies?

Can we seriously expect a hundred trillion dollars of debt to be liquidated without any consequences?

Do we actually believe that politicians will walk away from their power and apologize for abusing us?

Do we really think that the corporations who own Congress will just give up the game that is enriching them?

Does anyone seriously believe that the NSA is going to say, “Gee, that Fourth Amendment really is kind of clear, and everything we do violates it… so, everyone here is fired and the last person out will please turn off the lights”?

And does anyone believe that the military-industrial complex will stop encouraging war, or that corporate media will stop worshiping the state, or that your local sheriff will apologize for training his cops to be vicious beasts?

Do we really believe that public school systems will ever stop lauding the state that pays all its bills?

I could go on, but I think my point is made: This system will never allow itself to be seriously reformed. Trying to fix this is like trying to revive a long-dead corpse.

Rosenberg, Id.

The answers to these questions are all “no.” Interestingly, what we Americans have witnessed in the past few decades is more akin to the combined collapse of the Roman Empire and Republic than the Empire alone. What took the Romans 500 years we have accomplished in about 100. Technology? American exceptionalism?

romefalls

History.com.

The good news is vast. After the fall of Rome the world did not end. Ours will not either. By the time the Collapse was realized it had no effect on the average Roman citizen. Odd as it may seem, this will be our experience. The most damaging effects of the next turn will mostly be felt by banks, insurance companies, arms manufacturers and other mega-corpotations – hardly a pitiable crowd. For most people the change will go largely unnoticed. No more D.C.? Well then, just pay taxes to Atlanta or Boston or not at all.

For those who love State control, some government(s) will invariably crawl from the ruins of post modern Amerika. For those like me the lack of overwhelming regulation from Washington will be a much appreciated reprieve.  The future holds something for everyone in the short term. Over the long run bigger and better societies will emerge just as Rome was eventually replaced by the likes of Charlemagne, England and, in turn, us.

As for now, go ahead and vote as you like. It won’t change anything but it also cannot hurt.  As a bonus elections always provide comic (albeit criminal) relief.

St. Benedict approves this message.
