Br’re Bear vs. Br’er Wolf

Just after last month’s election the State of Georgia detected a cyber-attack on the Secretary of State’s computer system. This is the same system that maintains voter records and corporate information.

The attack came from the criminal organization known as the federal Department of Homeland Security.

Brian Kemp, Georgia’s Secretary of State sent a letter to Jeh Johnson of DHS demanding to know why the feds attempted the break in. He also pointed out that this attempt amounts to a felony under 18 U.S.C. 1030. Or, it would if attempted by anyone else.

It’s interesting that the department nominally created to protect the homeland instead chooses to attack individual states. By the way, their attempted penetration failed – thus confirming this was a government operation.

UnCivil Forfeiture: The Highwaymen Ride Again

Tags

, , , ,

Do not EVER consent to a search by the highwaymen police. I’ve written about this evil before. Today Mark Nestmann further explores the uncivil nature of “civil” forfeiture in the United States:

But it’s not just state and local governments that are getting in on all the fun. Federal law has authorized civil forfeiture since the dawn of the Republic more than two centuries ago. And it’s become quite profitable. The Department of Justice alone seized more than $4.5 billion in 2014. It’s just one of many federal agencies with the authority to confiscate property under federal civil forfeiture laws.

That should come as no surprise. In 1989, the Supreme Court actually ruled the federal government has a legitimate financial interest to maximize forfeiture revenues. Since then, federal agencies have developed highly sophisticated techniques to do just that.

Take the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), for instance. Earlier this year, an investigation revealed that the DEA routinely carries out “data mining” of Americans’ travel information to build profiles of individuals who might be carrying large sums of cash. Using a nationwide network of travel industry informants, the DEA gives special attention to individuals who meet secret “drug courier” profiles, such as buying one-way tickets or purchasing their tickets with cash. Amtrak and airline employees who pass information on to the DEA are eligible for generous commissions if the tip leads to a seizure.

Over the last decade, the agency has seized at least $209 million in cash from 5,200 passengers. In the vast majority of cases, the passengers weren’t arrested; they were given a receipt for the seized cash and sent on their way. For instance, of 1,600 DEA forfeitures in Los Angeles in the last 10 years, only one was in connection with a criminal investigation.

Are you outraged? You should be – and it’s probably about to get worse. President-elect Donald Trump has proposed a “Restoring Community Safety Act” that he claims will reduce “surging” crime in America’s cities. But the fact is that violent crime nationwide has actually been falling for the last 25 years. Given the love affair police at all levels of government have for civil forfeiture, it’s inconceivable that a Trump anti-crime bill won’t further unleash the forfeiture squads in America.

Decorating The Tree With Santa

I always forget something.

Tonight I forgot to qualify my last post in that I have nothing per se against California. I’ve been there and had a 100% fantastic time the whole time. Great state. It’s just the epicenter of the crazy movement right now. If the loons seriously want out of America or off planet Earth, fine. I would rather they take a rocket ship or a slow boat as opposed to the Golden State.

Anyway. I also forgot today’s Christmas tie:

img_20161207_141639031

I was in the men’s department of a large store one December long ago. I was looking at Christmas ties, if you can believe it. Along came some friends. One of them bought me this gem of a tie as a present. Bless her.

And, bless you, Cali and all.

NOW The Constitution Matters

Tags

, , , , , ,

Wow. Since November I’ve noticed a radical upswing in leftists praising the Constitution, along with the idea of State’s Rights, and even secession. I wonder what precipitated that?

These are the very same people who until very recently laughed off the Old Parchment as an arcane novelty. Republicans are and were fond of ignoring it, but Democrats outright cackled and howled whenever the Constitution was mentioned. No more.

Democrats, some of them, now want a Constitutional  Convention:

On Tuesday, disgruntled Democrats held a forum to discuss the possibility of replacing the Electoral College.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) conceded that Democrats could not get rid of the Electoral College due to the way the United States Constitution is written.

“I don’t think we can sustain our American democracy by having the majority ruled by the minority. And so the question is how to fix this since the Constitution is written in such a way that it’s almost impossible to amend,” Lofgren said.

Lofgren went on to say she is open to a Constitutional Convention, “We are three states away from calling for a Constitutional Convention. It’s something I’ve always been opposed to, …. But I’ll say because, for the second time in sixteen years, people the American voters elected did not become president. Rational people, not the fringe, are now talking about whether states could be separated from the U.S., whether we should have a Constitutional Convention. And I think as time goes on that is apt to become more the case unless we here can figure an answer to preventing the majority from being ruled by the minority.

It’s serious now. Before, before last month, only the crazies talked about the Constitution with straight faces. Now the “rational people”, meaning the all-knowing liberals, are on board. Amazing.

And I’m sure they wouldn’t stop merely with instituting direct democracy if given their way. They would surely bid the Second Amendment farewell while welcoming a host of hardened welfare “rights” – a national “living wage”, mandatory abortion, a 110% income tax (maybe higher?), etc. Fun, fun, fun.

Many of my libertarian and conservative friends have called for a Con Con over the past few years. Of this I have always been a little leery. The Founding Fathers are long since gone and their kind are really not to be found these days.

In fact, there’s really no telling who would show up for such a meeting nor what they might do. Imagine Ron Paul in an auditorium squared off against 300 angry blue-haired SJWs and some BLM thugs. That might be a best case scenario. Otherwise, just imagine the foregoing, minus Ron Paul.

If a Convention of the States were convened, the very best thing that could come out of it would be to deep six the Union – entirely and with no other matters addressed. Second best would be reversion to the Articles of Confederation. Neither are possible today and never will be again (via Convention or systemic legalities).

Fortunately for real Americans, the plans of Herr Lofgren and the blue hair brigade won’t happen either.

Instead we will continue to see a new variation or two of more of the same. If Trump can actually make good on his stated goal to MAGA, to reverse some – even just a little – of the decline, then things will improve dramatically.

If not, there is still great hope. In an anti-MAGA scenario, more of the same won’t go on for much longer. The same has pretty much run its course. That will mean likely Balkanization. Perhaps it will just happen. Or it could go through the 1861 route if necessary. People outside of D.C. and New York have been gearing up for the latter for a while now. Then after the dust settles, all those new little states can, if they like, form a new federation of sorts. Or not.

However it works out, I’m betting Lofgren and the Rationals won’t ever be happy. Happiness, like freedom, is simply not in their nature. That is unless they can successfully navigate California out of the U.S.

Towards that end, and regardless of whatever else might happen, I wish them all the best. And I encourage them to think big! Make sure to load CA up with ALL of the liberals, criminals, communists, “refugees”, and illegals that can be found before disembarking. And then, why not navigate it clean off the planet?

What A Difference 75 Years Makes

The attack on Pearl Harbor happened 75 years ago today. A date that will live in infamy. That date, Dec.7, 1941, yes. Three quarters of a century have brought remarkable changes for the better.

Yesterday the Japanese dropped a good bomb on us. After a meeting with President-elect Trump in New York, SoftBank announced it will invest $50 Billion inn American small businesses. This is a doubling of the previously stated amount. The end goal is to develop 50,000 new real jobs here.

Guess Who’s Coming To The Inauguration

Tags

, ,

The Islamic State is somewhat inconsistent. They called for mayhem at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Nothing. On the other hand, they called for random stabbings. And the jihadis stabbed away like mad.

They’ve called, or someone called in their name, for a bombing at an L.A. train station today.

They’re also threatening Inauguration day havoc when Donald Trump is officially sworn in next January. It was reported yesterday: “[ISIS] has declared the day Donald Trump is inaugurated as US president ‘Bloody Friday’ as it fears a brutal backlash from the new regime.” A case of #NeverTrump on steroids, though the story is short on specifics.

And this would not be the first time the group has potentially targeted an American president in D.C. Yesterday also saw one Christopher Lee Cornell, nominal IS agent, sentenced to 30 years in prison for his plot to attack the Capitol last year during President Obama’s State of the Union speech.

CBS New York.

I’m always a little suspicious of cases like Cornell’s. The false flag radar goes off when I hear about FBI CI involvement. Cornell, for his part, helped turn off the alarm when he yelled at the hearing: “Allah’s in control, not the judge.” I’m not sure if Allah has a copy of the federal sentencing guidelines. The judge does.

Actual attack or not, one has to hope Trump will use his inauguration to lay out a plan to remove the ISIS threat from American soil. Trump could turn “bloody Friday” into “backlash Friday” or “repatriation Friday”.

As always, time will tell. And good luck with that Universal City commute this morning.

November Was To Remember (And To Be Thankful)!

Tags

,

Well, it was bound to happen. After four months of unprecedented growth on this site and record after record, we slipped backwards ever so slightly last month.

It was the Thanksgiving week that broke the stride – and not by much. I think November 2016 was the third best month ever, close on the heels of one and two: September and October. You were busy, as I was. I can live with that.

In fact, I’ll focus on month over month and yearly growth for a second. This November was head and shoulders above last November (2015’s best month, by the way). And 2016 will see total site traffic nearly double (if not double completely) over 2015, which was previously the best year ever. I’m impressed and I as always thank you.

I extend a special “thank you” to all my friends from Facebook, and Gab, and the prepping community, as well as all the Google searchers of the world.

Next year, hopefully early, I’ll be introducing some serious changes and upgrades that will take everything to the next level and beyond.

December is generally a slower month though I’m already forecasting at least doubling last year’s numbers. And January should see post number 1,000 – maybe early February.

This little post about posts happens to be number 900.

When Campus “Equality” Isn’t (This Gets Scary At The End)

Tags

, , , , ,

The left is afraid. Of everything. They used to limit their animosity to just whites, men, heterosexuals, Christians, and guns (and especially if these were combined in one nightmare person). Now anything goes. If it makes any kind of sense whatsoever, they are adamantly opposed. They are so out of sorts that their hair turns blue.

And nowhere is this hatred of the normal and the traditional more evident than on college campi.

Colleges used to be in business to teach.Today they preach. And “equality” is the sermon of the century. We are all equal, in their eyes, no matter how wildly different we actually are.

Of course, some are so equal as to require special treatment. Take for instance Carlton University, Canada’s Capital University. Diversity and equality are paramount at this “school”. So much so that they have declared war on men’s fitness.

[T]he Carleton University Students’ Association, the Muslim Students’ Association, the Graduate Students’ Association and a residence association are asking that the gym at Carleton University reserve one hour per day for women only.

You see, men are scary. They are especially scary in the gym. True, men and womyn are exactly alike. But, still, the womyn need a little alone time. No worries: “Contrary to what opponents argue, this gym proposal is not sexism or segregation.” Feel better now? No segregation. It’s just equality and some are at least one hour per day more equal than others.

It’s not just the campus gym that’s under siege. Christmas is coming and the campus anti-Christians are hard at work ruining everything special about the season and Day. Daisy Luther listed nine American colleges waging war on Jesus’s birthday. The madness even pervades “Christian” schools:

4, Marquette University, a Catholic university, incidentally, has removed any mention of the word “Christmas”in their tree-lighting ceremony and discontinued the blessing and any mention of the Advent. One Marquette professor objected to this on his blog:

That “diversity” and “inclusion” require censoring and silencing all things Christian is a typical attitude of the politically correct. Of course, this is not “inclusive,” but rather exclusionary.

Genuine inclusion would mean recognizing the diversity of religious beliefs and traditions. The National Menorah, on public property just south of the White House, is an example. If Muslim students at Marquette wanted to stage events to celebrate Ramadan they would certainly be allowed to by Marquette (although Ramadan is usually in the summer with few students around).

But Christianity is different. Secular leftists don’t much like Christianity.

Exactly. Just as feminism is a false face for an effort to have womyn dominate men (one gym hour at a time), so secularism is a plan to overcome Christendom and replace it with empty, Satanic communism.

People are beginning to wake up to this nonsense. It may be found at each and every Western school. A small, easily frightened man, nominally associated with a college near me, recently remarked that I was “a little scary”. I suppose he takes offense at my seasonal display of Christmas ties. Therefore, in an effort to help spread equality of scariness, I proudly present yet another scary Christmas tie:

Fred Reed On Gun Control

Tags

, , , , , ,

Gun control does not equal crime control. Usually it makes things worse. Fred gets it.He gets a lot of things and generally in hilarious fashion. His take on international gun control failures:

The two most heavily armed countries in the world are (still, I think) Israel and Switzerland. In Switzerland, men of military age are (still, I think) required to keep an assault rifle and ammunition in their homes, and Israelis are similarly armed because, having enemies on their borders, they need to be able to mobilize rapidly.

In both countries murders by armed citizens are essentially nonexistent. By contrast, Mexico has strict gun control. Does anyone get shot in Mexico?

Yes, actually. Some 164,000 thousand shot dead between 2007 and 2014 (Figures vary. The foregoing are typical.) Pretty effective, gun control is.

Why do murders occur so exuberantly in a country with gun control? Because making guns illegal doesn’t make guns go away. In Mexico gun control means that criminals can have, and assuredly do have, high-powered military weapons, usually AKs–cuernos de chiva. Thus a dozen narcos can enter a large town and terrorize it. If a hundred men in the town had AR-15s, the dozen narcos would enter the town in pickups and forthwith leave in boxes. Gun control leaves the town disarmed and helpless.

Always remember that the goal of the gun grabbers is to render you helpless, defenseless. They want you a victim to their various criminal constituencies.

Average, oridinary Swiss Misses. The Truth About Guns.

Interestingly, and partly based on the above, the only real violent crime problems in Switzerland and Israel come from radical Islamic terrorists. They’re all around the Israelis and they’re pouring into Switzerland (though slower than in surrounding countries). The exact same people who would disarm you are the very people pushing the terrorist invasion. Funny, that.

Arm up!
