It’s not everyday one sees a State Governor nullify a federal regulation.

GA Gov. Nathan Deal, 9/13/2016.

Yes, it’s just one reg. about hours for truckers under the Motor Carrier Safety Administration. And, yes, it is allowed by a concomitant reg. But, can’t an anarchist dream?

What if the states gave us a little more protection via nullification and interposition? What if? Some essentially do this with MJ and a few may try with firearms. My suggestion would be the income tax and the National Guard next.

BTW, there is still gas out there and, outside of the larger cities, the gouging isn’t that bad.

911, America, crime, freedom, government, terrorism, The People

I was standing in a parking lot in Florida. I was talking to a CIA CS operative. The second plane had just hit the WTC. On that day and at that time my friend knew more about what was happening that most people do today. Interesting, frightening, and more than a little sad, that.

What do we know about 9/11? And what have we done about it over the past decade and a half? The substantive answer to both is, “nothing”. I’ve recently mentioned that, here and here.

In reality 9/11 and the ensuing federal response have done three things: it’s given state-worshipers another day to wave flags and talk tough in most delusional fashion; it’s allowed the government unprecedented power, and; it has enriched the special elite via spending of astronomical proportions.

That’s about all. From those root effects we have received: constant (and pointless) wars; loss of civil liberties; acceptance of a police state; debts which can never be repaid; inflation and loss of income opportunity (at a time when the opportunity is most needed); a loss of credibility and even likability around the world, and; more terrorism – here, not “over there”.

The terrorists keep coming. Last week ISIS grossly underestimated its own capability and man-power in Europe. Last night I read that Germany admitted as much, for their part.

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s interior minister has warned that the country is home to more than 500 Islamic militants who could be capable of carrying out assaults on their own or as members of “hit teams.”

Speaking in an interview with Bild newspaper, Thomas de Maiziere said there were currently at least 520 “potential attackers” in the country, which has been on edge since two Islamic State-inspired attacks in July.

He said another 360 “relevant” people were known to police because of their close proximity to the potential attackers.

Many Germans fear that fighters belonging to the Islamic State jihadist group could have slipped into Germany with the roughly one million of refugees from Syria, North Africa and Asia who arrived last year.

Notice how the number, just within the beginning of this story, grew immediately from “more than 500”, to 520, and the to 880? It nearly doubled in three short paragraphs. The fourth paragraph has the dangerous number – “roughly one million”. One million is “more than 500”. And, those numbers are active – bombing, shooting, hacking, slashing, trucking, robbing, rioting, and raping.

They’re in America too. Geography and the police state might mean their numbers are a little lower here and their course of action a little slower. They also know they’re up against 150 Million gun owners too. Still, it’s a problem and one that we didn’t have before.

Just remember that the terrorism is a byproduct of the three roots, maybe the most visible. We need to stamp it out but we also need to get to the bottom of the underlying issues. Hell, we need to get started on those. For all the talk about “never forget” it’s interesting that we never knew to begin with.

In fifteen years we have destroyed a handful of countries that had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. God only knows how many people are dead, injured, and displaced. (He’s watching, if you recall). We’ve spent at least $20 Trillion we didn’t have. We have stupidly embraced the new and meaningless Amerika.

I want the old America back.

scan0001-edited

Lower Manhattan from NY Harbor, circa 1990. Perrin Lovett.

We need a real investigation, an independent investigation. The Saudis, the Israelis, and the Pakistanis (and some in Europe even) deserve special consideration. An even closer examination is in order for a small sect of the Washington-New York power elite.

I’m not sure my sentiment is shared. I don’t know if Americans could handle the truth or if they even want it. What if some of our “allies” and our own “leaders” were implicated? I, of course, would favor rope. I suspect the masses would favor more entertainment and less truth. The extent to which the criminal class has gone to prevent an investigation and to obscure the facts speaks volumes. Volumes most will never read.

It might as well be 1,500 years.

Here is the beginning of what will be a terrific new blog. Please check out Erich’s work and IMMENSE historical knowledge.

gaerich's avatarAugusta Historian

I have been thinking of starting a blog for sometime, well actually my wife has been telling me to start one for sometime, and now thanks to my friend Perrin Lovett over at  https://perrinlovett.me/ I know how to do it. I have never been much of a writer only a modestly gifted story teller so bear with me as I try to figure this thing out.

I want to use this forum to share some of the history stories I learned over the years while walking with people through local cemeteries and museums. I am also involved in a few historical organizations that deal with topics outside of Augusta history, so  I am sure that occasionally they will come up. Just remember, like my Facebook page, this is my personal blog, so if I happen to write something that you don’t feel is Augusta history related, don’t get upset and start complaining…

Come Out of the Churches, Thou Unclean Spirits

America, Catholic Church, Christians, culture, demons, evil, freedom, God, government, Jesus Christ, Satan, society, The People, The West

This title is a re-working of the command given one or two demons afflicting men of the Gergesenes. See: Matthew 8:28-34, Mark 5:1-17 (KJV). Previously the demons forced the men into violent isolation, making them a general nuisance and a menace. Jesus commanded their departure and they left.

I have no such innate power. Yet I see abundant evil – either demonic or of collectively self-inflicted free will – in much of modern life and society. I write about it frequently here and, now, in a few other forums.

demonpossession

TV Tropes.

Often I describe various phenomena as Hellish, Satanic, and demonic. These labels I truly mean and not just as attention getters. Manifestation of evil is everywhere: almost every action of every government; promiscuity of all sorts; debased, low “culture” in music, sports, and entertainment; pagan rituals; outright witchcraft; Satanic invocations at government meetings; reliance (dependence) on the enemies of Christ in life, civic, financial and educational; sloth as far as the eye can see (or stand to look). Worst of all is the false theology espoused by so many in the West – the replacement of God with the state and self-serving cotton-candy irreligious nonsense.

My friends in the Alt-Right describe this fake Christianity as “Churchianity”. It is the belief that by attending some rock and roll church and hearing sermons devoid of meaning that souls are somehow able to lead good, egalitarian lives. It is crippling the West, the very heart of Christendom. Once it shows signs of weakness the forces of evil pounce on it all the harder. It is weakened again and again. To the point of worse than worthlessness – it in fact becomes part of the evil itself.

As positive instruction it is noted that this has all happened before, even in the time of Christ and the Apostles. Jason Charles and Rev. Chuck Baldwin each wrote recently of the demise of so many churches in America, succumbing to the new theology of cultural Marxism (that really is nothing new).

Wrote Charles:

The Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:12 wished castration upon the doctrine perverting Judaized preachers of his day.

“I would they were even cut off which trouble you” Galatians 5:12 (KJV)
“As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!” Galatians 5:12 (NIV)

Neuter: A general term used to describe the castration of a male animal.

Can you imagine? An Apostle of Jesus Christ using this phraseology at all? But he did when addressing the usurping teachers that came in among the congregations of churches that he planted, especially in the Church of Galatia. To get the whole back-story read through Acts Chapter 5, and also read the entire book of Galatians. You will quickly realize he is talking about the Judaizers.

The reason why the Apostle Paul was vehemently opposed to these Judaizers was because in an ultimate sense, it was false doctrine that taught the superiority of the Mosaic Law over Christ. That meant it immediately became a salvation issue for Paul. Therefore he brought it to the wisdom and counsel of the other Apostles in Jerusalem, as seen in Galatians 5. At that counsel the Holy Spirit affirmed the total forsaking of the Judaizers among all congregations in no uncertain terms.

Baldwin notes that many (most?) American churches today are willingly held in line by their IRS 501 status. They dare not preach the actual gospel or analogize it to decadent American society for risk of losing money. Thus, they are little better than the emasculated Pharisees of Paul’s day.

These congregations and their cancerous leaders are to be shunned as they serve no purpose but to call into the world more evil. And the evil keeps coming in.

In addition to ample man-made malady, demonic activity and possession is on the rise across the globe. Wesley Baines interviewed Fr. Gary Thomas, a Vatican trained exorcist. Thomas explained that there is an increasing incidence of possession by fallen spirits which afflicts protestants and atheists as well as Catholics.

The Church has instituted elaborate procedures to ensure that a demon is really a demon rather than being merely a medical or physiological ailment. Once properly identified a demon is cast out by the Power of Christ similar to the above-cited original exorcisms.

Thomas notes that demons react violently to the sacred. I find it interesting that the demons described by Matthew and Mark knew immediately and without need of introduction who Jesus was. This is testament to their nature as well as reassurance of their eventual demise; He commanded and they were forced to obey.

Again, I have no such authority nor do you, except for protection and Grace granted by the Son. The time is now to use said faculty along with free discernment to exorcise from our society those perils of evil tradition. This starts be recognizing what has happened. Reflect on this and compare it to your experience this morning at your church; look around a the failed culture and think.

*Of interest also is the frequency of comments to the above-linked articles suggesting reliance on the Republican Party to cure the afflictions. This is beyond self-defeating as it places undue faith in a member of the viral swarm to cure the illness it helped cause. Political solutions there are not.

But I could be.

The other day I was talking to a friend at the club. He’s an MSU alumnus. He was seated below a picture of a departed friend, an avid Dallas Cowboys fan (buried in a jersey avid).

Those two things turned into this post when I read about Dak Prescott’s stellar performance in the preseason. He was a steal as a fourth-round pick. He’s not just going to back up Romo, he’s going to vie every week for starter.

Every time I think about writing off the NFL someone pulls me back. This year it’s number 4.

Maybe it’s the coffee or the heat. This morning, at the computer, I am strangely nostalgic. About what I’m not sure. This, I’ll let that go until I figure it out.

There are many things I could write about, things that don’t involve me being stuck in 1982. Many are boring. It’s Sunday and I don’t feel like being bored.

Thus, I have decided to re-post a popular piece from last year, this one you’re about to read (maybe again, maybe for the first time). The Pied Pollster is a poem about a town overrun with political rodents. This is, after all, election season. Enjoy.

Once upon a time … that’s how children’s stories begin. This is a children’s story for adults. Adults and children – anybody with a pulse really. Enjoy.

Once upon a time …

An anachronistic time;

Yet five hundred years ago;

“Anachronistic” means mixed up;

My words do surely show; …

There was a happy little town;

The people there were healthy and cheerful;

Their rosy faces round.

No troubles had the folks;

Beyond a trifling few;

The grass was always green;

The sky was always blue.

Unto this joyous hamlet;

A plague did come one day;

The people’s hearts were troubled;

There was a frightful fray.

Their bodies began a squirmin’;

Due to the awful vermin;

Worse than rabid rats, much worse;

There came the Battle sound;

Filthy politicians! had found the happy town!

Some were Republicrats;

Demopublicans there were too;

Some said the town was red;

Others claimed it…

This article was featured on The Perrin Lovett Show (with usual amateur production, etc.).

The United States Constitution sets forth a very few enumerated powers for the federal government – 18 to 30 or so, depending on how one reads the text.Several others could be imagined given a certain degree of lucidity. The modern law and political crowd obviously has a very vivid imaginations.

“Our” government now involves itself in literally everything. The pretense of following the Constitution was long ago dropped in favor of a do-all, end-all, all things for all people nanny state. This proves, as Lysander Spooner noted toward the end of the 19th Century, the abject failure of the Constitution. Either it enabled the growth and development of the current system or it was powerless to prevent it. Either way a lost cause for the liberty-minded.

Amongst those few, ancient powers were the prohibition and prosecution…

Rise of the Machines: The Self-Crashing Car

Another week, another Tesla auto-pilot crash.

I’ve ranted before about just how bad American drivers are – they, the most of them, are horrible. Most of the nation’s roads have come under my own personal review. I drive extensively in the eastern and southeastern U.S. With the exception of the open expanses of the west and a few rural segments back east (and those usually at night) it is very bad out there and no fun anymore.

There’re different kinds of bad wherever one motors. In most big cities (LA, Atlanta, NYC, Miami, D.C., etc.) there’s fast and bad. Well, fast until a wreck completely stops traffic. In South Carolina, the whole state, it’s sloooooow and bad. Everywhere else it’s inattentive, careless, and bad. Sometimes a little malice is thrown in. Mindless zombies, who would quickly call for gun control, don’t mind at all careening around in the equivalent of a cruise missile while texting, eating, sleeping, vaping, talking, singing, rapping, screaming, grooming, and just about everything else imaginable (except driving).

My proposed solution is very, very simple. Most people, I’d like to think, are capable of properly operating a vehicle. All they have to do is DO it! Simple. Those who just can’t, and it’s a LARGE number, should not drive. Period. The auto industry, the insurance industry, and the malevolent forces of the state have another solution – self-driving cars.

Some day the technology will be proficient. Then, but not now, the systems will actually work. Of course, then they will be mandatory; no one, no matter how good behind the wheel, will not have the option to self drive. There won’t even be steering wheels anymore. That will afford the government incredible control over who goes where, when they go, how fast they go, and if they can go. That nightmare is still ten, twenty years down the road.

For now, more and more manufacturers are installing auto-drive systems, usually marketed under the ever-popular, yet ever-deceptive “safety” label. Take any of these systems and read about them in the manufacturer’s owner’s manual. To a one they all suggest the system is not a substitute for a competent driver, it may not work (at all, sometimes), and it is not fool-proof.

The fools don’t care. Safety.

More expensive models, like Tesla, come with a variety of auto-pilot features. They too have disclaimers no one reads. The idea is that they can pilot the car well unless something unexpected comes up. Unexpected, you know, like a semi or a guard rail, or something one would almost never see out on the road…

A Southfield art gallery owner told police his 2016 Tesla Model X was in Autopilot mode when it crashed and rolled over on the Pennsylvania Turnpike last week. The crash came just one day after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a report on a fatal crash in May involving a Tesla that was in self-driving mode.

 – Detroit Free Press.

The Tesla owner (not “driver” anymore) will still be cited by the police for the crash. How about that? You pay $100,000 for a government-subsidized robot car and it still crashes AND you get a ticket. I’ll bet the owner whines about this. I bet he sues Tesla or at least tries to raise them as a defense in traffic court. He bought for “safety” not for responsibility.

I don’t buy any of it. I now add robot cars to the list of those who just shouldn’t be on the roads at all. Until that day (ha!) I’m in the market for a new vehicle myself, something that will allow me to survive the increasingly dangerous roads of America and the stupid, incompetent drivers, something like this:
