The “Thin Reed” Of Russian Hacking

There appears significant dissent to the CIA narrative on the Ruskie hack attack. Both the ODNI and the FBI have doubts about the CIA’s information.

The CIA conclusion was a “judgment based on the fact that Russian entities hacked both Democrats and Republicans and only the Democratic information was leaked,” one of the three officials said on Monday.

“(It was) a thin reed upon which to base an analytical judgment,” the official added.

Republican Senator John McCain said on Monday there was “no information” that Russian hacking of American political organizations was aimed at swaying the outcome of the election.

“It’s obvious that the Russians hacked into our campaigns,” McCain said. “But there is no information that they were intending to affect the outcome of our election and that’s why we need a congressional investigation,” he told Reuters.

Congress should investigate, especially if that keeps them from passing more laws. Better to sway the thin reeds of intelligence communication impasse than the thick trunks of legislation.

Cigars Are Healthy: More Government Lies Debunked

This story has proven popular for several months. It’s a vindication of the cigar hobby and an expose on more government lies. Smoke ’em up!

perrinlovett's avatarPERRIN LOVETT

Two of my major themes here are that I: 1) hate government in all its evil lowliness, and; 2) I love cigars. Today I have greater reason to champion both of these worthy ideas.

The FDA is waging all out war on the premium cigar industry. Stupid law after draconian regulation threaten to disrupt if not kill the family of the leaf. It’s all part of the government’s larger war on freedom. They hate us, seeing us as little more than cattle to be milked of taxes until we die. Die will shall some day but not due to our cigars.

Cigars are bad, lies the state, because of children and health and safety and other BS – all of it dead wrong. It seems that the FDA has in its possession an in-house study which shows there are no significant health risks associated with smoking 1 – 2 cigars

The Central Bankers Begin To Fall

Well, Trump has ridden us of one banker now. Nice, big one too. Good riddance.

carstens_0

Zero Hedge (one them Russian sites…).

“It was shocking,” Ernesto Revilla, an economist at Banamex, said of Carstens’ departure cited by Reuters. “There were rumors of this, but no one was expecting it to happen so soon, especially with the new Trump scenario.” Revilla added that “Agustin has been a pillar of economic policy in Mexico.” He added that the peso suffered on Thursday because “there is no clear successor at the central bank … There is no one on the top of peoples’ minds of who could take his place,” he added.

According to Reuters, among possible candidates economists named were Alejandro Werner, a former deputy finance minister who holds the top post for the Western Hemisphere at the International Monetary Fund, as well as current deputy central bank governor Manuel Ramos Francia, who is less well known in global financial circles. Former Finance Minister Luis Videgaray, a close ally of President Enrique Pena Nieto, is also seen as a potential replacement, though he is a divisive figure in Mexican politics.

So why the sudden announcement? Among the theories emerging is that Carstens has had enough dealing with the unpredictabilities in the political climate, especially since the Trump election, and wanted out. During the presidential campaign, Carstens had warned that Trump’s election could hit Mexico like a hurricane; he also conducted a stress test for local banks to prepare for the “contingency” of a Trump presidency.

Following Trump’s victory, Carstens followed the crowd in changing his tune, and suggested the next U.S. government’s impact could be less severe. However, today’s announcement confirms he was less than sanguine about a Trump presidency, and the impact it would have on the Mexican currency and economy, and opted out.

Hasta la vista!

alertness, Eric Peters

Today Eric Peters ponders the fall of civilization via the hell on earth known otherwise as the self-driving car.

'That woke me up, too!'

Cartoon Stock.

GM’s SuperCruise is fitted with a bevy of bells and whistles that are supposed to rouse the asleep-at-the-wheel “driver” when it becomes necessary for him to … drive. If the “driver” doesn’t wake up – perhaps he is sleeping too soundly and fails to notice the bells and whistles – the car will automatically turn on its emergency blinkers and slow itself down.

This will probably not be much help if a split-second intervention becomes necessary. As, for example, when a self-driving Tesla drove itself broadside into a big rig that had unexpectedly turned in its path. Which the Tesla’s “driver” didn’t notice in time.

And there, as the saying goes, is the rub.

A driver either is – or he isn’t.

There is no in-between.

It is not a part-time job.

To whatever extent a car drives itself, the driver is necessarily less involved. Less is expected of him. He is encouraged to be passive, inattentive.

Some self-wrecking cars are already here. More are on the way. Will you be passive and inattentive? I guess most will.

On that subject, take this Quick Test to determine your level of alertness. Mine was so fast as to suggest theoretical impossibility.

Terrorists, Not Weak. Got It.

Three minutes before he commenced his nearly lethal attack at Ohio State University yesterday, Abdul “Allah Akbar” Artan confirmed his terrorist status on Facebook.

“I can’t take it anymore. America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially the Muslim Ummah. We are not weak. We are not weak, remember that.”

…

“If you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace.”

…

“We will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Muslims.”

The joke is on Abdul on his slimy, useless cohort. So many Americans are so deeply asleep as to border on the comatose. Still, they talk in their sleep: “that poor black boy;” “sad he was a Muslim (not that he tried to kill people); “one of us … family … don’t you dare condemn him;” etc.

However, I must admit Abdul was right about a few things. We must stop interfering in places where we don’t belong. I’ve said that again and again. Second, and more importantly, we must bring peace to the Muslims. The Muslims – like Abdul – in America on missions from ISIS. We must give them peace by immediately repatriating them back to Somalia, Syria, etc. That, or Abdul them on the sidewalk. One way or the other. Peace.

Of course, such would be a complete reversal of current policy. Since 9/11/2001, nearly 100,000 Muslims have been admitted to the U.S. (Abdul included) just from Somalia. It has been a hobby project of both the Bush and Obama administrations.

CNS.

Yes, they’re already booking them for next year.

And the vetting and security procedure for incoming Somalis is the most comprehensive in the world. It has to be due to the massive corruption in the region (which apparently must border on D.C.). Incredibly, even that level of scrutiny is useless. Yesterday demonstrated that … again.

20110707_somali_terrorist

Marching to a town or college near you. Family Security Matters.

If the best security isn’t good enough, then the flow must be halted. As we cannot trust existing Somali entrants, then they must all go back.

Earlier in his campaign, Trump said he got all of this. That was a large part of what got him elected. Now he must act. And act fast and thoroughly. If not, then he will (soon) become #notmypresident. Abdication of the obvious and the imperative by government leaves only We, the people.

No, the terrorists are definitely not weak. Neither are we.

Alexander Lovett, My Veterans Day Celebration

Happy Veterans Day, America. From the archives:

perrinlovett's avatarPERRIN LOVETT

In honor of Veterans Day I write in memory of my father’s father’s grandfather, Alexander Lovett. This ordinary yet exceptional American fought and suffered nobly for his country and his family.

Genealogy is not a hobby of mine. As a result, I am woefully short on specific information for this story. My apologies. I presume this will not dampen the experience here.

Veterans Day began in 1919 to commemorate the ending of America’s inexplicable involvement in the first chapter of Europe’s great civil war, World War I, on November 11, 1918. Originally, the day was Armistice Day. In 1954 it became Veterans Day.

I claim numerous relatives who fought in just about every American war. My father’s father, for example, was a Marine during WWI. He survived the Battle of Belleau Wood. I would not expect younger readers or those formerly interred in government schools to know of  this battle. Few, too…

Interesting that this isn’t over yet. The Hillary campaign is but the investigation lives

perrinlovett's avatarPERRIN LOVETT

“These decrees of yours are no different from spiders’ webs. They’ll restrain anyone weak and insignificant who gets caught in them, but they’ll be torn to shreds by people with power and wealth.” – Anacharsis the Scythian (speaking with Solon).

So it is as it has always been. Today a woman with power and wealth once against tore to shreds American law. Hillary Clinton may have broken the law but she won’t be prosecuted according to the FBI’s recommendation issued today. The federal government has a law for everyone and everything – part of its scheme to maintain total control of the population, nothing more. People in charge of sensitive, classified information, like a Secretary of State, are expected to go above and beyond to maintain the integrity of the information entrusted to them.

Accordingly, the law places on such special people a higher standard of what is criminal misconduct…

#Hot Pants Matter

America, SJW, society, women, yoga pants

The first news item that caught my attention today was a piece on the declining readability of the internet. It turns out the authors are concerned about font ratios literally making pages unreadable. I though it was about the slowing induced by all the ads. Noticed that? My speed and machines are excellent yet I feel like I’m running in 1998. Maddening.

Then there’s the ridiculous growth of all things social justice on-line. I’ve noticed Facebook has become a non-stop outrage fest. I can’t complain there as I constantly pollute the news feed with stories like this (and thanks for clicking!). SJ is all over the news sites. Everyone is upset about something. Everything is a micro-aggression. Someone, somewhere really needs a good shaming. Like this:

An army of women in yoga pants marched on a man’s house after he was critical of yoga pants. Yoga Pants Matter!

BARRINGTON, R.I. — The saga began Wednesday with a letter to the editor in a local Rhode Island newspaper criticizing women over 20 who wear yoga pants in public. Quickly, it snowballed into a “Yoga Pants Parade” Sunday afternoon with hundreds of people walking past the letter writer’s house — and a few death threats, according to the author, who said he had only intended satire.

“To all yoga pant wearers, I struggle with my own physicality as I age,” wrote Alan Sorrentino, 63, in the letter published by the Barrington Times last week. “I don’t want to struggle with yours.”

The letter, which said adult women wearing yoga pants in public was comparable to men wearing Speedos to the grocery store, went viral. The backlash was immediate, passionate, and international.

It was supposed to be funny, Sorrentino said, because what kind of “tormented, uptight individual” could possibly care enough about yoga pants to write such a letter?

“It was in the face of all this political stuff, with all these really important issues going on, and then there’s this letter about yoga pants,” he said.

A crowd that included young girls and older women met in front of the Hampden Meadows School about 2 p.m., wearing a colorful array of yoga pants — although, as many attendees stated, the event was about more than just yoga pants.

“I don’t get involved in much in the way of protests and marches and all of that, but this just brought me out because the guy’s letter was offensive,” said Ellen Taylor at the parade, who sported a neon yellow shirt with the words “ ‘MATURE OLDER WOMAN’ in yoga pants” written on it.

“It’s OK if you’re 20 and gorgeous to wear yoga pants, but don’t do it if you’re older and lumpy and bumpy?” she asked.

Let me answer that last question: “Yes, 20 and hot is what we’re after with yoga pants.”

There. Have a nice night.

Seriously, it’s a free country (kind of, maybe). Anyone can wear yoga pants in public. Even those who perhaps shouldn’t. It’s a taste thing.

Really, I’m all for girl power or whatever would drive a middle-aged woman to the grocery store in gym clothes. They do beat pajamas. I get it – free country.

I also get free speech. People are supposed to write letters to editors. That free expression thing. Writing a reply would be a good counter move. Assembling a host of marchers and targeting the man’s house was a bit much. I wouldn’t say it had a chilling effect on free speech; maybe more of a sickening effect? The death threats, while not likely very serious, were downright criminal.

Then again, nothing is off the table for the SJW set, spandex-clad or not. Man with bad ideas (no matter how good) MUST be punished.

Yoga pants. Halloween costumes. Comments about the workplace. Comments about the lack of a workplace. No comments. Anything goes – so long as it’s really not that important. I wonder if any of these yoga pants warrior women have ever considered that:

The country is in tatters;

People are killing free speech;

People are killing each other;

We’re $20 Trillion plus in debt;

There are multiple wars raging;

D.C. wants nuclear war with Russia;

Veterans are being robbed by Washington crooks;

There’s (another) rigged election show underway;

The West is being overrun by terrorists;

Football ain’t what it once was.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and no. Yoga pants. A march over a letter. ‘Merica. Social Justice.

I’m reading SJWs Always Lie by Vox Day right now. If you’ve ever had a run-in with the PC thought police nuts, you might want to get a copy. I’m still a little fuzzy on what GamerGate was but I do understand they handed it to the SJW crowd. Bravo.

In closing I’d like to make my own personal yoga pants plea. Yoga pants should only be worn by older, lumpy, hefty women. Young, hot, fit, college-age girls should never wear them. Now, sorority girls, if you would like to stage an appropriate protest, we can make arrangements…

Let’s hope so.

While demented communists propose taxing us into poverty, then out of existence, over their global warming hoax, real scientists predict a 97% chance of a new ice age starting in around 6 years.

I’m all for it. To stay warm, we of the ice set can burn politicians, banksters, and climate hoaxers.

Now, I’m off for a little “get with Jesus” meeting with my heavy bag stand-ins. Then! It’s the great Fall Festival at Top Shelf Cigars. Perdomo, Ashton, Gurkha and Olivia reps and much more. I may have pictures. Drop by, if you can.

Wow. Could not finish that one.

Hillary did get to the debt bomb first, I think. Yes, yes, Bill was just about to start bringing down the debt – GAAP be damned. That’s a problem in Washington; even if you set up a plan that would work, the next president can easily undue it all.

Anyway, this debate was pointless.

I did however, right in the middle of the madness, get slapped in the face by a mental reminder from the ancient world. I have no plan, no theory. Yet. Not a suggestion, just a mere thought. Just an idea that jumped up while I was agonizing over the split screen images of the two candidates.

The Roman Republic didn’t have a presidency. Rather, the chief executive office was split between not one, but two Consuls. They were elected together and served ONE YEAR terms. They alternated who was actually in charge, or who had final say, monthly. **After the advent of the Empire, neither Consult had any real power.

cicerobust2

Tully in 2016!

How about we stick both these clowns in the White House under such an arrangement! Could it really be any worse than it already is?

Well, yeah … maybe.

Good night America and may God help us all!
