Russians, long oppressed by communism, seek a return to an honest and gentlemanly tradition: dueling:

The Russian Liberal Democratic party has drafted a bill allowing for official duels and detailing rules for such combat. The move comes after the head of the National Guard challenged an opposition figure to a fight over slander.

The motion, prepared and drafted by MP Sergey Ivanov states that a duel between Russian citizens should be possible – although it should by no means be deemed a normal way of settling scores.

“In recent times there is a tendency among civil servants to challenge citizens who express opinions that differ from the official point of view to duels. In order to systemize the main reasons of such challenges and the rules of actual duels we propose this bill,” the lawmaker wrote in the note attached with the draft.

The Russians are a different breed. I’m astounded that it’s the officials seeking to challenge the people. But it could easily go the other way – there. Here, there’s a reason our “leaders” are scared to death of such a prospect. It’s why they have routinely denied citizens the right to trial by combat. No, they’re headed in the opposite direction and taking us with them. Here’s a preview, from Venezuela, of what the future in America, with socialism for all and a “living wage,” will look like:

Nearly 40 percent of all Venezuelan stores have closed —some of them perhaps permanently —after the government of President Nicolas Maduro increased the minimum salary by nearly 3,500 percent in one fell swoop, according the National Council of Commerce and Services of Venezuela.

Many of the companies, which had been barely surviving the gradual collapse of the economy, saw the salary increase and other changes announced last month as the fatal blow in a series of policies that have been gradually strangling their businesses.

“These decisions are leading many business people to say, ‘No, I can’t do it any more,'” said Maria Carolina Uzcategui, president of the council.

The problem is that Venezuelan companies are being forced to sell at prices far below cost just as employee salaries are increasing 60 times, Uzcategui said.

What’s more, the regime has banned stores from increasing their prices to cover the salary increases, arguing that it is not necessary.

That’s literally a page from Atlas Shrugged. And it’s a page, a popular one, in the American socialist playbook.

If you’re young and love the West, consider the East.

(Zi work for the Democrats but similar-feelz workers and Zir have pledged to undo the last vestiges of freedom-minded civility therein. And RUSSIA!!!)
Forward by Perrin Lovett: I am, today, taking a rare break from my duties as your C.F. Floyd Writer for National Affairs. My apologies but the following is important … and I felt lazy over the weekend. I was inspired by the brave, anonymous, totally unverifiable, and probably make believe Op-Ed in Carlos Slim’s Blog The New York Times last week. The guest author herein is a senior official in the Democratic National Committee and Politburo whose identity is known only to me and my trusty Possum, Tater, and whose very life would be endangered by something if, you know, stuff happened. I believe that only through satirical anonymity can the truth be of service and not of dissent. I invite my readers to submit questions about my policies in publishing this tripe and my extensively exhaustive R&D worthiness testing regarding the difference  – please submit those anywhere but here.

—–

The Democratic Party is facing a test of their will to dominate all life unlike any obstacle faced by any modern band of serially unemployable hacks since at least Stalingrad, maybe later.

It’s not just that there are probably sealed military indictments awaiting execution. Or that the country has united in a sense of being sick and tired of marginalization, cultural and economic rape, and destruction. Or even that In-N-Out Burger has John 3:16 printed inside the bottoms of their soda cups.

The dilemma — as we try and try again to slouch towards Gomorrah — is that maybe four or five senior members of or elected officials within Zest Zown Party are working lazily to frustrate the total fulfillment of the Marxist agenda here in the boundaryless ideological proposition formerly known as “America.” Like some lingering specter of Sam Nunn or Zell Miller they just will not fade away.

(It’s like Chick-fil-A, but worse.)

Catholic Church, Europe, immigration, Lama, Pope, Vox Day

Vox Day reported the great news out of Sweden (not the election…):

The world must heed the words of the Dalai Lama:

The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, said Wednesday that “Europe belongs to the Europeans” and that refugees should return to their native countries to rebuild them.

Speaking at a conference in Sweden’s third-largest city of Malmo, home to a large immigrant population, the Dalai Lama — who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 — said Europe was “morally responsible” for helping “a refugee really facing danger against their life”.

“Receive them, help them, educate them… but ultimately they should develop their own country,” said the 83-year-old Tibetan who fled the capital Lhasa in fear of his life after China poured troops into the region to crush an uprising.

“I think Europe belongs to the Europeans,” he said, adding they should make clear to refugees that “they ultimately should rebuild their own country”.

What a pity that neither the Fake Pope nor the leaderships of any of the big Protestant denominations have the courage, the integrity, or the necessary relationship with the truth to state the obvious.

Big hitter, the Lama.

I’ve heard the Lama is big in Hellywood. One wonders how his plain and truthful statements, here, might affect that.

As for the “Fake Pope” (think I’m almost there), He’s calling a conference to address the crisis he says doesn’t really exist, while seemingly decrying those actual defenders of the Faith as heretics bent on deceiving the deceived about the deception. Make sense? Little about Bergoglio does.

Satan, the “Great Accuser,” has been unleashed against the bishops of the Church, Pope Francis said Tuesday, in a thinly veiled reference to the former Vatican nuncio to the United States.

The former nuncio, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, recently accused a number of prelates of dereliction of duty in dealing with clerical sex abuse and claimed that the pope had rehabilitated serial abuser Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, elevating him to a position of influence despite knowledge of his misdeeds.

In an 11-page testimony published on August 25, Viganò alleged that he had personally informed Pope Francis in 2013 of the serial homosexual abuse perpetrated by Cardinal McCarrick, along with sanctions imposed on his ministry by Pope Benedict XVI, and yet the pope lifted those sanctions and involved McCarrick in the naming of future bishops.

“The Great Accuser, as he himself tells God in the first chapter of the Book of Job, roams around the earth looking for someone to accuse,” Francis said in his morning homily at Mass in the chapel of the Santa Marta residence in the Vatican.

Got that? Good is bad and bad is good and Bergoglio is the legitimate Pope.

Please say a prayer for Pope Benedict, the Dalai Lama, and the truth.

America, Constitution, Empire, Ken Starr, law, missiles, republic, Trump

The Fake News “Resistance” now, after decades of atrophy, seeks to protect the Constitution. Or something. Whatever it is, they’re aiming to protect against The Trump. Oddly, said Trump is the last vestige of hope for possibly restoring any semblance of Constitutional order. If he fails, then it’s over and we might as well let it go. “It” being the old Republic, now more of memory than an institution.

Trump. Trump. Trump. Russia. Russia. Russia. Fake news, impeachment, and indictment.

My old friend, Ken Starr says a sitting President can, in fact, be indicted for crimes.

“I think the president can be indicted,” said Starr, who led the investigation into former President Bill Clinton‘s sexual misconduct with Monica Lewinsky. “But that is not the position of the Justice Department traditionally.”

“The basic point is we do not have an authoritative resolution on the issue,” he said, noting it “cannot happen, as I see it, under Justice Department policy that’s enforceable on [Special Counsel] Bob Mueller.”

“No one is above the law,” he said. “And so in my judgment the president can in fact be indicted.”

I respect my friend’s learned judgment – as to his theory. But he seems a little caught up in the past. We are in a new and different place, legally. He’s probably correct – in theory – the president could be indicted.

However, a sitting president could now use (“legally”) something like the following to preempt any criminal proceeding:

pic_giant_050914_SM_Hellfire-Boko-Haram-3

Paper indictments do not stop AGM-114’s. NRO.

Do you like the new legal/political landscape? You know, if we’re honest, you voted yourselves into this imperial place. Pleased? If not, then say five “Hail Constitutions,” go forth, and vote no more, my children.

That, or hope Trump has a cool head and an iron constitution (not one of paper). Trust the plan?

U.S. Education: Up, Down, and … Ouch?

There a seldom-discussed phenomenon which, given enough time, will invariably affect any large institution. There evolve two classes of people therein. The first carry out the core functions of the outfit. The second consists of support and administrative functionaries, often important but not critical. Eventually, the second class almost always comes to control operations within the institution; their compensation usually outpaces the core function class.

In an example related to American education, we once again have the yearly college salary numbers from CUPA. Interesting, telling numbers.

The Tenure-tracked professors:

They’re doing better with the Trump economy.

Screenshot 2018-09-12 at 12.12.49 PM

But the Executive-level Admins are doing much better.

Screenshot 2018-09-12 at 12.15.04 PM

Some of these jobs are arguably important to a large school. But, who does the educating??? And all of the professorial numbers ignore the trend of the adjuncts, poorly (POORLY) paid and overworked – teaching 50% of all classes.

Young people, please consider all of this along with the rising, always rising costs associated with the process. And consider the following trend:

With the improving economy and the diminishing quality of the degrees, more and more companies and whole industries are abandoning the quest for credentials.

No diploma? No problem.

More and more companies are scrapping college degree requirements for jobs. They’re not saying you shouldn’t seek higher education, but not having a degree won’t be a barrier for you to work in certain jobs at their companies.

Some of the 15 big companies saying “no bachelor’s degree is fine” include Google, Nordstrom, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, IBM and Apple.

The changes are coming as job seekers, as well as high school graduates, consider whether college is worth the skyrocketing cost.

Something to think about, degree or not.

Also, and semi-related, a few lower schools are bringing back the paddle.

An area school recently sent home consent forms informing them of a new corporal policy at an area school. The superintendent says they’ve received a little over a hundred forms back, a third of them giving consent to paddle their child.

“In this school, we take discipline very seriously,” said Jody Boulineau, Superintendent of GSIC.

GSIC is going old school with a new policy for this year.

“There was a time where corporal punishment was kind of the norm in school and you didn’t have the problems that you have,” the Superintendent said.

You heard that right. Georgia School for Innovation and the Classics, a K through 9 charter school, is bringing back paddling students as a form of discipline.

Younger young people, think about that.

If students engage in anything even resembling “violence,” even in self-defense, they may rest assured that they will be disciplined, up to and including possible arrest. But, what’s forbidden to the child goose is a-okay for the sinecure gander. And, this particular school, new and innovative as it might be, is in a district with an utterly dismal academic success record. So, the kids can expect to literally take a beating in exchange for a fraudulent, substandard education, for that unnecessary credential.

During another age and in another century, your young author was a frequent target of the “board” of education. As such I can kind of sympathize with the administrators (always the ones in charge) who seek to use it again. However, if I recall correctly, all those whacks did little (nothing) to deter boys from being boys. In other words, it usually doesn’t work. And much else has changed in the past 100+ years. Then, schools expected order just as students expected instruction. Both usually got what they needed. Today, it’s a different, worn and sad story.

All things to think about, if that’s still acceptable.

Agreeing With John Bolton

Yesterday it was The Goldman. Today this. Is what it is.

The United States threatened Monday to arrest and sanction judges and other officials of the International Criminal Court if it moves to charge any American who served in Afghanistan with war crimes.

White House National Security Advisor John Bolton called the Hague-based rights body “unaccountable” and “outright dangerous” to the United States, Israel and other allies, and said any probe of US service members would be “an utterly unfounded, unjustifiable investigation.”

“If the court comes after us, Israel or other US allies, we will not sit quietly,” Bolton said.

He said the US was prepared to slap financial sanctions and criminal charges on officials of the court if they proceed against any Americans.

Clinton’s unratified signature on the Rome deal was a mistake. The ICC, “child of Nuremberg”, allows for no due process. And it decides “law” on what basis? How the winds shift? No thanks.

However, I doubt any deterrent or reprising criminal charges will be necessary. The court can likely be ignored with relative safety. If that fails, we have the Marines.

9/11, America, false flag, lies, terrorism, War

We remember, those of us who can, the events of 9/11/2001.

The horror and disbelief of the day certainly come to mind.

The rest? What, exactly, do we know these years later?

Terrorists dead.

Foreign agents arrested and then spirited away as fast (and as quietly) as possible.

Anomalies ignored and dismissed. No explanation of seismographic readings, titanium diboride residue, extreme temperature readings, disappeared physical evidence, or of how a small office fire, isolated and self-extinguished, managed to collapse a 47-story steel-framed tower (a first and only known occurrence). And more.

A narrative from Mordor, unchallenged, and endlessly echoed by the enemies of the people.

No real investigation.

A ceremonial investigation obstructed at every turn.

Ceremonial investigators, tiring of the obstruction, resigned, calling the farce a farce.

Underlying issues and possible causality unaddressed, made worse in fact.

War, waged though undeclared, against wholly unrelated nations and people. Still in progress. Even the pretense of strategy abandoned. $Trillions spent. Decades wasted. Millions displaced. Hundreds of thousands dead.

The domestic population subdued, frightened into seeking constant “safety” from hobgoblins most imaginary. Rights lost, forgotten and mostly unwanted.

The Patriot Act.

Homeland “Security”

Body scans.

Fear.

Weakness.

Ignorance.

Complacency.

NDAA.

Enemy combatants.

A State deeper than ever.

It’s likely that as many will wake up have already done so. Our one possible known hope is that a certain President successfully uses the excesses of the power elite against them. A thin hope at best, but still something to cheer.

Before we vow to never forget, it might help to at least first know what we’re not forgetting.

Hey, it’s time. Really, we’re overdue. So says The Goldman Sachs…

A Goldman Sachs Group Inc. indicator designed to provide a “reasonable signal for future bear-market risk” has risen to the highest in almost 50 years. The firm’s Bull/Bear Index, which is based on measures of equity valuation, growth momentum, unemployment, inflation and the yield curve, is now at levels last seen in 1969. While the gauge is at levels that have historically preceded a bear market, Goldman strategists including Peter Oppenheimer wrote in a note last week that a long period of relatively low returns from stocks is a more likely alternative.

Yes, per the graph we are in the longest run in modern history. Also, pay attention to the percentages and when they were the highest.

Away from cars:

Did you know the average cost of car insurance for a 16-year-old is almost $3,000 annually? This assumes assuming no tickets, no accidents and a good scholastic record. Yes, they actually check the kid’s grades and use that as a metric for determining his “risk profile,” just as adult drivers are dunned by the insurance mafia if their credit score isn’t top-shelf, regardless of their driving record.

So, a $250 per month cost-of-entry before the car even leaves the driveway. Before the kid puts gas in the thing.

…

Faced with this extortion – and that’s exactly the right word; there’s no choice about paying the $250 per month, if the kid wants to drive legally – many simply opt out. A record-high percentage of 16-25-year-olds haven’t even got a driver’s license and forget the car. They stay home instead, game and text. When they need to get somewhere, they ride share or Uber or something that doesn’t require them to spend a minimum of 20-25 hours working at minimum wage (currently $7.25 per hour) gig hauling pizzas or some such just to tithe the mafia.

Towards Insanity:

New survey shows 75 percent of students at U.S. colleges have battled significant stress in the past year, leading 1 in 5 to consider suicide

BOSTON — For some, it’s the best four years of their lives. For others, it’s a period of constant struggle, whether academically, socially, or both. College brings about new experiences and challenges for young adults that can be difficult to adapt to and overcome, so perhaps it’s no surprise that a new study reports high rates of stress and mental health conditions among students.

The newly-published report out of Brigham and Women’s Hospital shows that a quarter of college students received were diagnosed with a mental health condition in the past year, and a fifth have had suicidal thoughts.

Maybe it’s just me but it seems like the old days (you know, waaaaaay back in the 70’s and 80’s) weren’t that bad. 16 was drive time and people were a little more … normal. Anyone for going back to that?
