The Five: We’re SO Innocent

Bush I, Donald Trump, Fox News, Putin, Super Bowl

Yesterday, for some inexplicable reason, I watched about 10 minutes of The Five on Fox News. The legs and plunging necklines I can handle. The babbling, not so much.

The two hotties and the three amigos were chatting about Bill O’s interview with President Trump. Bill called Putin a murderer and asked Trump how he could possibly like the man. Trump’s answer was straight forward: “And, we’re so innocent?” It seemed perfectly reasonable to me as it implied an uncomfortable truth or two. The gang however, token dissenter Juan Williams included, were not amused.

They took turns ranting about how the U.S. was the purest, cleanest, best-smelling nation in history. They rebuked the President: “We don’t elect murderers!” “None of our officials ever worked for the KGB!” Pure outrage. Then they switched to G.H.W. Bush’s coin flip at the Super Bowl. One would have thought it had been Jesus returned for the ceremony. The men unashamedly said they cried or something. The legs crossed. I turned it off.

A complete aside: it was the Super Bowl where the Patriots beat the Falcons after falling behind 28-3. That one…

That we know of, we have no KGB in our government, true. But one ex-president was also the ex head of the CIA, our KGB stand-in. Said ex-president was elected on a promise not to raise taxes. He did. Then he took us to war in the sand for nothing. Then he helped tank the economy. Then he said something about the new world order, threw up on the Prime Minister of Japan, and rode off into the Texas sunset. There he stayed until the NFL asked him to flip a coin Sunday night.

But we’re so innocent.

Fox. Heh, heh, heh.

Those legs were made for irony.

North to Canada

Word has it that many recent arrivals in the U.S. are preemptively self-deporting. This comes ahead of President Trump’s full measures to reform immigration and secure America for Americans. It seems that these good folks didn’t really want to live here after all. Canada, it seems, is where the warmer welcome and more generous welfare benefits may be had. Northern neighbors: buyer beware.

Bigger, Better Bombs?

During a visit to MacDill AFB in Tampa, the President told assembled troops he was going to heavily “invest” in America’s military. What he means by this remains to be seen. However, it sounds expensive, especially for a nation that already spends more on the military than the rest of the world and also happens to be dead broke.

If this has to do with a modernization, aimed at actual defense of the U.S. from terrorists, then good. If it has to do with the Iran saber-rattling, then … hmmmmmm…

Gaga for Gaga

I enjoyed Lady Gaga’s entertainment last night at Super Bowl LI (that’s “51” for the Falcons fans). Heck, I want to take her out!

Someone found something to grumble about. They think she was secretly sending hippy protest messages to the Soros Rent-A-Mobs. I honestly didn’t see it. Too busy watching her. So I looked again. Still just a short blonde beauty with an awesome voice. I’d better check her out check it out again to be sure.

And I have halted the memes for now. I lost my favorite. Deleted it or something. Anyway, the intended audience was too stunned today to notice. And it’s not nice to rub it in. Having said that, I leave you with this:

How The Patriots Won The Game of the Century

Steel. That emotional control I wrote about earlier. A steely resolve to do the impossible.

The Patriots

From the Boston Herald:

Tom Brady and the Patriots rewrote the history books and the storylines last night with their epic, 34-28 victory against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI. They trailed 28-3 midway through the third quarter before ripping off the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history. Prior to this, the Pats’ 10-point comeback two years ago against the Seahawks had set the bar.

Tom Brady completed 43 of 62 passes for 466 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and he was 12 of 16 for 150 yards on the tying and winning drives in the fourth quarter and overtime. The five-time champion led his 51st game-winning drive in the 51st Super Bowl.

I read in the Boston or sporting press somewhere the “grading” of the team. “A” for Brady. “B” for coaching. “Cs” for the defense. I guess “B” stands for “bravo” and “Cs” stands for “Champions”.

First come-from-behind from more than 10 points win in Super Bowl history.

First Super Bowl in overtime.

Record Ninth Super Bowl appearance (seven with Brady and Coach B.).

Fifth win (all behind Brady) (NE looks to tie the Steelers record 6 next year).

Brady’s 466 passing yards – SB record.

Brady is undeniably the best quarterback in history.

First SB of the MAGA era.

Probably a bunch of other records.

The greatest performance in the greatest SB (according to someone at ESPN). I agree.

And the Pats did all of this on the heels of a year when they alone had to play one extra game, a game that lasted the whole season. They played a year-long game against the NFL itself and most of the rest of the world. And they won. The NFL, Roger Goodell, and all the rest are losers.

Goodell should resign. Today.

Brady, Coach B., and Co. showed what you do when the world is against you: turn all the hatred into resolve and beat the world down.

And they’re not done yet…

The Falcons

The Falcons aren’t done either. They had an outstanding season and played an incredible game. They dominated 3/4ths of it – they dominated the best team in history. Maybe no-one else could have done that. In the end it was not enough, though it was impressive.

I’ve read many rants about the 4th quarter disintegration. That was destiny. Sorry. But nobody is harder on themselves than Atlanta fans.

Some in Atlanta are already talking about “next year” – a familiar UGA phrase. That is the spirit. But put it off for another year. They’re saying the same thing in Boston and, there, they mean it.

Atlanta

The “meaning it” is critical. Four things are required to win football championships: a great coach, a great quarterback, a demanding, loyal owner, and an expectant, demanding fan base. Boston is a sports crazed town, best of all American cities; they have all elements across all their teams – especially in the Patriots. Fanatics doesn’t come close. Atlanta finally has the first three but not yet the fourth.

The winning psyche matters. The AJC’s Mark Bradley captured it perfectly last night (if harshly): Mark Bradley: Falcons lose the most Atlanta game ever. When you make your city’s name synonymous with losing, you have a problem.

The Falcons fan base needs to analyze 37 years of failed UGA football. “Good”, “pretty good”, “almost”, “high winning percentage”, and “next year” just don’t cut it. They have to expect excellence and demand excellence. Stop focusing on how someone else is the worst and become the best yourselves.

Boston

Take everything I just wrote about Atlanta and invert it. As President Trump Tweeted: “They’re winners.”

The Commercials/SJW Watch

I think someone at the NFL and Madison Avenue finally got the memo that Americans are tired of anti-Americanisms. The SJW nonsense was there, subtly, though it was much more muted than I had expected.

Also, I think the age of the stellar, funny, and memorable SB commercials is over.

Lady Gaga

Wow. Part of me (and others) half expected Gaga, an outspoken liberal, to politically ham up her show and continue the shenanigans from 2016. Instead she opened patriotically and put on a heck of a show. In answer to that stupid Masters question of a few years back: “Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum?” – I’ll take Gaga.

Professional. Witty. Fun. And hot…

The Memes

Will continue:

Congratulations to the (once again) Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. Yes. Told ya so. There’s that. I originally called NE winning 31-30. 34-28 does it too. Wow. And they held back the whole first half…

nimbus-image-1486353379693

May have some thoughts tomorrow. I think we can safely call Tom Brady the greatest quarterback in history. 5. Five. 5…

For their part, the Falcons played an incredible game, a championship worthy game.

Ah, well. Memes away!

Emotional Control Wins The Super Bowl

This past fall I pretty much cut football out of my life. However, on October 3rd I reserved my right “like a good hypocrite” to revisit for exceptional games. The specific example I gave was the Patriots next Super Bowl. And, today, February 5th, here we are.

New England is going to win tonight (should win). But it’s not simply due to talent. Both teams are immensely talented. It’s about emotional control. Says Tom Brady:

“You kind of have to be right on the edge. It’s such an emotional game. You don’t want to be out of control, but you can’t play with no emotion. You strike different chords for different emotions at different times.”

That might sound strange coming from a player who rarely hides his feelings on the field. Just think back to his return game in Cleveland after his four-game “Deflategate” suspension, when Brady was pumping up Patriots fans on hand during warmups.

Yet he insists Super Bowl Sunday calls for moderation in approach.

“It’s a long day,” Brady said. “I mean it’s a long day because it’s been a long week because there’s a lot of things you’re doing. You’re doing a lot more things this week than you normally do for a game week. Just to get to the game, it ends up being … a four-hour game? A longer pregame and a longer halftime, so … it ends up being 4½ to five hours.

“You’ve got to be able to have something left at the end of the game. You can’t waste it all early in the third quarter.”

A quick look back to New England’s victory over Seattle in the 2015 Super Bowl shows that Brady and the Patriots had plenty left. They rallied from a 10-point hole to win.

The Falcons are far from out of control, but NE are the base masters. They’ve been here before. They’ll be here again (probably next year).

Anyway, it looks to be a very good game.

It also, back to the reasons for abandoning the sport, looks to be an SJW-fest. Reports say everyone from Lady Gaga to Budweiser is gearing up to make some sort of idiotic anti-American political statement. If they do, and if the American fans tolerate it, then the SJW win.

Speaking of winning, I’m going to start the meme parade early:

Dear Friends:  I’m still here, despite my lack of postings.  I finally occurred to me I do not want to be a one-blog wonder.  Thus, here I am again.  This will be rather short but there are many things to come soon.

First, my new (and first) book, The Time Given, will be published shortly – hopefully by the end of this month or March at the latest.  It will be available from CreatSpace, Amazon, and, yes, a Kindle e-version is planned.  This work is far from what I expected as my first expedition into lituratureland.  Some of you are aware of my existing rambling manuscripts on guns, government, and grace.  Those will come latter (hopefully sooner).  I decided to write The Time Given on the fly as suggested by James Altucher (great blog at http://www.jamesaltucher.com/).  It is a short, happy adivce style book aimed at helping people avoid certain of life’s little problems and how to not worry when things go wrong, despite planning.  I suggest you get ready to buy multiple copies to give as gifts.  You can buy as many as you like, no limits.  I expect the price to be around $7 – 10 bucks.  Set aside $100 or so now to help out old Perrin (rambling ain’t cheap).

An update – that completely Constitutional tax evil scheme know as Obamacare, of which I opined last year is starting to take effect.  Paul Criag Roberts has an excellent guest analysis of how the law will rape the poor and lower middle classes at http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/.  Check it out.  No, Dorothy, this was not in any way an attempt to make healthcare more affordable or accessible.  Rather, it was just an attempt to steal more of your money and freedom.  It also will help line the pockets of our lovely insurance company friends.  I am often concerned about their financial welfare, aren’t you.  Worry no more, friends.  A buddy of mine recently told me that his wife’s private health policy just went from $800 per month to $1,500.  That’s change we can believe in!  He can afford to pay it until she is Medicare eligable.  The working poor won’t be so fortunate.

Droning on and on…  We’ve known for some time that the executive branch claims unfettered power to use drones or any other weapons to kill dissenter..er..terrorists.  What’s the uproar about?  This keeps us safe.  Don’t you want to be safe and secure.  Jefferson spoke once of desiring dangerous liberty over saftey.  What a deluded idea!  Crazy founder.  As for modern politicians, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D, VT), recently quoted the Emperor from Star Wars at the gun violence hearing, “for a safe, secure society”.  He looked and sounded better than Palpatine though.

Speaking of GUN CONTROL!  Through years of practice I have mastered control over all my guns.  Have you?  Really, you all know I have no guns – they kill people.  My suggestion for common sense gun control is this: 1) Abolish the Imperial federal government in its entirety; 2) disarm all state and local law enforcement officers (except, perhaps the county sheriff); 3) let’s all arm up with modern weapons (those who have not already); 4) let’s all be responsible with those weapons; and 5) ala Rodney King – let’s just all get along.  This is a re-post from FB.

If we have armed teachers, staff, and parents in and out of our schools, then crazy people and government agent provocateurs will have less incentive to attack the schools.  And, if they do, they can be shot down before they can commit a massacre.  I made this same point regarding airplane security at the Federalist Society national convention in 2001, just after 9/11.  At the time I was still under the delusion Fed-Soc was a libertarian organization.  Ha!  At any rate, you can see how well me suggestion was received by the government.  By the way, they can see your “junk” at security stations – while, they irradiate you.  If you like, they will just sexually molest you instead.  This, you see, makes us safe from CIA recrutied nuts with pocket knives.  Not sure how it would stop a muscular nut from taking a plane or how it would halt a S.A.M.  Oh well…

This little ATM robot thing keeps kids safe. I suppose it would actively engage and kill a shooter.

(This little ATM robot thing keeps kids safe at my daughter’s school.  I suppose it would actively engage and kill a shooter.)

Many other thoughts to come.  Can you believe it’s going to snow in New England!?  Wow.  And how about all the Illuminati symbolism at the Stupor Bowl! Etc…
