This is a story from the Dark World, as described so well by Ivan Throne in The Nine Laws. It will sicken you. Or, it should sicken you. It should make you want to act. I have suggestions at the end.

I didn’t have time to get into the subject on the air with Matt Patrick yesterday morning but part of the problem with higher education in America (and Canada, the UK, etc.) is that the schools forego academic rigor in favor of triviality. Year by year, legions of poorly equipped young mush-heads arrive at institutions dedicated to frivolity. Math, history, art and literature take a back seat to social justice and lessons better suited for Sesame Street.

My point with Matt was that all of this is a horrible waste of time and money. There is no reason to go $200,000 in fake debt to bankster charlatans for such “education”.

There’s a pecking order to the foolishness. Womyn’s studies, black empowerment theater, and the LGBBQ buffet take priority. If it has to do with anything male, white, and Christian, in other words with Western civilization, it is shunned. And ridiculed. Stamped out or at least tampered with.

The latest pathetic trend is the attempted emasculation of men in college. Young men are taught that, among other idiotic ideas, being a man is toxic. A manly man, a straight man, a proud man of the West is frowned upon by the bunched panties crowd of modern, lightweight academia.

For example, a class at Dartmouth College this semester, “The Orlando Syllabus,” identifies so-called toxic masculinity as playing a role in the mass murder spree at a Florida club during the summer. This despite the fact that the gunman, Omar Mateen, told police on the phone as he committed the massacre he did it on behalf of ISIS.

Other instances of combating toxic masculinity on campus can be found at both the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and Duke University, which launched programs specifically designed for male students to delve into “violent masculinity” and “healthier masculinity” and discuss issues like gender fluidity.

“How has the concept of masculinity contributed to the perpetration of violence in our society?” asks the UNC Men’s Project website.

Duke University started a similar program this semester for male students to reflect on topics such as patriarchy, male privilege, rape culture, pornography, machismo and “the language of dominance,” Fox News reported.

At a mandatory freshmen orientation training at Gettysburg College in August, male students had to watch a documentary which stated in part that the “three most destructive words” a boy can hear growing up is “be a man.” The freshmen also went through breakout sessions in which they were told mass shooting sprees are rooted in toxic masculinity.

The “Thrive” club, part of the Claremont colleges consortium which meets as a “safe space” to talk about mental health, advertises that “masculinity can be extremely toxic to our mental health, both to the people who are pressured to preform it and the people who are inevitably influenced by it.”

The group refuses to disclose the contents of its discussions due to “confidentiality concerns,” but students who attended one of the sessions reported that there was “a common consensus that masculinity is harmful both to those who express it and those affected by it,” the Claremont Independent reported.

Various promotional videos promoting health masculinity advocate challenging “the traditional norms of what we envision masculinity to be” by recognizing “male privilege.” Goals touted through the education include undoing a legacy of “harm, oppression and dominance.”

This trend did not emerge over night. Last year, Vanderbilt University hosted “Healthy Masculinities Week,” led in part by Jackson Katz, the first man to minor in women studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Every group identity under the sun goddess is represented on campus except for men. Until now. Let’s use UNC as an example. The once proud Tarheels now have a Men’s Project. Not a center or a studies course or separate college mind you. Those are for the favored groups. A project is something to work on. And they’re hard at work, working on deconstructing masculinity.

This Men’s “Project” is an offshoot of the Student Wellness Office (because manliness is a sickness to treat) and the Carolina Womyn’s Center (because womyn). Womyn get a center, men are a project. And men need to be made well. That should tell you everything you need to know.

What is the UNC Men’s Project?

The UNC Men’s Project is an initiative started in 2013 that seeks to create opportunities for male-identified students to learn, listen, reflect, and work together to increase men’s involvement in gender equity and violence prevention efforts. This program works to promote healthier masculinities on campus and to shift the culture of masculinity toward more non-violent norms. The UNC Men’s Project is a designated High Impact Practice in Student Affairs, and is co-sponsored and supported by Student Wellness and the Carolina Women’s Center.

The 2016-2017 Cohort will be hold weekly cohort sessions in Fall on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm, from September 21 through November 30 (no meetings during week of Fall Break or Thanksgiving). The application for this year has closed.

What does it mean to be a man?

How does masculinity serve as a beneficial and/or harmful influence in our lives? How does it affect our relationships with other men, with women and with people of all gender expressions?

How has the concept of masculinity contributed to the perpetration of violence in our society? Men commit the vast majority of violence, yet the vast majority of men neither commit nor condone violence. And many men and boys are subjected to some form of violence at the hands of other men. How do we confront this issue?

In short, how do we create spaces for men to talk honestly with other men and to practice healthier, more positive masculinities?

These are the questions the UNC Men’s Project seeks to answer.

How can you get involved?

Educational Programming

The UNC Men’s Project starts with a 10-week program in the fall semester that (1) explores a spectrum of masculinities, (2) examines how our own stories are shaped by masculinity, and (3) gives participants the tools and knowledge to become peer allies, leaders, and educators in violence prevention and gender equity efforts at UNC.

Student Community

The UNC Men’s Project works year-round with a variety of campus and community partners to support ongoing efforts focused on violence prevention and gender equity at UNC Chapel Hill. The groups hosts meetings, workshops, events, and discussion groups to provide a space for students, both from our training program and the general student body, to continue their process of learning, listening, reflecting, and working together to make UNC a safer and more equitable community.

Safety and equity for all – all except men. Men used to have plenty of spaces to talk honestly. One of the foremost was the university. Now they get bigoted pyscho-babble in place of honest discussion. And I imagine it’s more of a talking to than a discussion. A talking down to. “You’re all rapists. You’re all violent. You’re too strong. Try some makeup. Cry with us in the safe space.”

The Project’s advisory board includes nuts from: the womyn’s center, the black power movement, the multi-culti affairs office, the local rape crisis center, and the LGBBQ bathhouse. I’m surprised ISIS isn’t represented.

From this description the idea is clear: men are a bunch of stupid and violent savages (geometry, the moon landing, nuclear power, symphonies, the polio vaccine, the concept of the university, civilization, and all that irrelevant stuff aside); the women must teach the men to be a bit more effeminate. To be docile. To be wimpy. To be slaves. Happy little sheep.

Here’s what we need to do with this garbage. First, if you are a man (or a real woman) at one of these “schools”, leave. Don’t pay another cent for this communist BS.

Well, actually, don’t quit immediately. Turn the tables before you go. A young man should attend one of these workshops or gulag camps or whatever. Take a large spider with you. Once the chief b*tch or masculine feminist is babbling away, release the spider where it will be noticed. I predict that as soon as the safety and equity nitwits see it they will panic. They will ask you or any other man present to kill it (probably while screaming and standing on chairs). Please have someone video record all of this. Send me a copy.

When they freak out and demand you act, you that start crying (use a small squirt bottle). Scream out that you’re the victim of a micro-aggression! Tell them squashing spiders is for real men and that the thought of it is toxic to you, more deadly than the spider’s venom. Through your hysteria, manage a call to 911 and report the Project for conspiracy to commit animal cruelty. Insist officers be dispatched. Make a scene of these fools. Notify the media. Then leave. Don’t ever go back. Don’t even think about it. Laugh and be grateful to escape the fate of a eunuch.

**Please make sure the spider gets out unharmed. He might be your only friend on campus. Give him a fly as a reward.**

spider-1

“I can haz safe spaze?” Git ’em lil’ buddy! The Verge.

Now, all of you who are thinking about college or who have children looking at colleges, let this serve as a warning. Nonsense like this Project is a barometer of how bad a school really is. Have nothing whatsoever to do with any such institution of stupidity.

If you’re an alumnus, contact the school alumni begging office, the president, and the regents or whoever controls education in the jurisdiction. Tell them you will not donate another penny to the school. Tell them why. Tell them to take their project and shove it.

The rest of you need to abandon these wicked places. Don’t support them. Don’t visit them. Don’t watch their felon ball teams. Don’t do business with them. Pretend they do not exist unless you pause to decry their degeneracy.

If you are a legislator or a board member or someone with power over a school, move to defund and/or abolish it. Taxes and endowment monies would be better utilized elsewhere – anywhere else and for anything else. Take a stand.

We have to stand. They declared war. They started it. We must finish it. That’s what violent, savage, atom-smashing, arachnid phylum conjuring, sound-barrier breaking, transatlantic crossing, other world exploring, college founding, taxpaying, terrorism fighting, carrying everyone else on strong backs cavemen do. It’s the manly thing.

The other day I was mildly concerned about college students trying to find those elusive safe spaces. Turns out, that may be all they’re capable of. Either schools are not teaching or humans are becoming mentally retarded as the default setting. The esteemed Dr. Walter Williams explains:

Do you wonder why Sen. Bernie Sanders and his ideas are so popular among American college students? The answer is that they, like so many other young people who think they know it all, are really uninformed and ignorant. You say, “Williams, how dare you say that?! We’ve mortgaged our home to send our children to college.” Let’s start with the 2006 geographic literacy survey of youngsters between 18 and 24 years of age by National Geographic and Roper Public Affairs.

Less than half could identify New York and Ohio on a U.S. map. Sixty percent could not find Iraq or Saudi Arabia on a map of the Middle East, and three-quarters could not find Iran or Israel. In fact, 44 percent could not locate even one of those four countries. Youngsters who had taken a geography class didn’t fare much better. By the way, when I attended elementary school, during the 1940s, we were given blank U.S. maps, and our assignment was to write in the states. Today such an assignment might be deemed oppressive, if not racist.

According to a Philadelphia magazine article, the percentage of college grads who can read and interpret a food label has fallen from 40 to 30. They are six times likelier to know who won “American Idol” than they are to know the name of the speaker of the House. A high-school teacher in California handed out an assignment that required students to use a ruler. Not a single student knew how.

An article on News Forum for Lawyers titled “Study Finds College Students Remarkably Incompetent” cites a study done by the American Institutes for Research that revealed that over 75 percent of two-year college students and 50 percent of four-year college students were incapable of completing everyday tasks. About 20 percent of four-year college students demonstrated only basic mathematical ability, while a steeper 30 percent of two-year college students could not progress past elementary arithmetic. NBC News reported that Fortune 500 companies spend about $3 billion annually on training employees in “basic English.”

If this generation can’t use rulers, how long before some future cohort won’t even be able to speak? How, then, will we hear and understand their feeble cries for safe spaces and social justice?

The College Fix.

Given these observations, one sincerely hopes it’s the system and not the brains that have failed. Either way things are looking a little less than hopeful.

America the stupid. Yesterday’s rather popular piece on Yoga Pants highlighted the efforts of fat women to kill the First Amendment. Today’s news of the all-too-common comes from a people and from a place where one would expect it – UC Berkeley:

Left-wing students at the University of California, Berkeley are protesting again. This time, however, these students are calling for “safe spaces” for transgendered people, as well as “spaces of color” at the University (which they already have).

The protesters are also harassing white students trying to study, barring their path across a key bridge while allowing students of color safe passage.

The protest, which began last Friday, blocked Berkeley’s Sather Gate, disrupted studying students in the Student Union, and blocked traffic at the intersection of Telegraph and Bancroft in front of campus.

The gaggle of neo-hippies, queers, commies, and color-mongers also attempted to close the campus bookstore because it allegedly turns a profit. Typical. Whites and capitalists are public enemies number one and three. (I am surprised they left number two alone. Were there no churches to burn?)

Australian News Commentary.

This sad story and the blocking of the bridge vaguely recalled to my mind a legend of UGA lore. That of “Pistol Pete,” a backwoods student (white, male, and presumably evil). He attempted to illicitly pass the North Campus Arch. A small group of hecklers and busybodies then set upon him. Guess why they called him “Pistol” Pete? But Athens isn’t Berkeley. Or wasn’t.

I pity the bridge-blocking leftist kids. Maybe they will finally find spaces sufficiently safe from the real world. Maybe they’ll grow up. Perhaps a lobotomist could assist.

In the meantime if you’re a student at Berkeley and you happen to be white, male, straight, Christian, and have an IQ over 70, consider a transfer.

Mine are extraordinarily low. Trump and Clinton face off in a little over an hour. I’m actually going to stay up and watch the show or at least try. I’ll give some thought to what they say though the saying doesn’t always translate well into the doing later on. Honestly, I’ve completely written off Clinton. Trump is a very impressive man but he has not impressed me as a candidate. He says many of the right things. Then he either backtracks, softens, or goes totally wild.

nimbus-image-1474934347109

Rrrrrrl LET’S GET READY TO STUMBLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, in addition to the comedy and Clinton cough watch, I’ll be keeping track of a few core issues. I may come back with post-debate analysis. I’m sure I could go ahead and do it now as few (if any) of the following will be reasonably discussed:

  • Taxes. Eliminate the income tax and the IRS completely. Replace it with nothing.
  • Abolish the Federal Reserve. Replace the funny money with gold -backed (or ANYTHING backed) currency in a “free” market-based banking structure. Exile or execute the banksters.
  • Halt all debt spending. Repudiate and cancel the existing federal debt and all unfunded liabilities. They’re never going to be repaid, they really don’t exist, and they’re a product of the funny money. Hell, repudiate all debt period. Make debt illegal.
  • End all entitlement programs.
  • End all programs, agencies, and expenditures not expressly in the Constitution.
  • Repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments.
  • End the wars, recall all personnel, and disband the standing military, reduce it to the limits of the Constitution.
  • Return defense to the several states, the militias, and the people. Return many things to the people.
  • End the war on drugs.
  • Pardon all current and previous federal convicts not convicted of piracy, counterfeiting or treason.
  • Expel or execute all terrorists, terrorist sympathizers, terrorist apologists, and anyone remotely connected with terrorism.
  • Halt all immigration into this country.
  • Expel all foreign nationals – all of them (for now).
  • Repeal the Immigration Act of 1965. Execute anyone still alive who voted for it and anyone who supports it.
  • Surrender all nuclear weapons to Perrin Lovett.
  • Repeal all federal firearms laws. Re-legalize machine guns first.
  • Repeal most federal laws.
  • Acknowledge that judicial review is an unsupported fraud.
  • Reduce and limit the courts.
  • Vastly increase the membership of the House.
  • Have all redress of grievances with go through Congress.
  • Abolish all administrative regulatory agencies. Ceremonially burn the CFR.
  • End all foreign aid.
  • Get the U.S. out of the U.N. and the U.N. out of the U.S.
  • Acknowledge the Union is voluntary.
  • Tear down that shrine to Baphomet.
  • Reduce D.C. to its native status as a swamp.

Okay. Now I’m getting carried away. None of this will be done and some of it is far beyond the President’s power anyway.

Still, these are some of the things I’ll be looking for. Let’s go green with this government – reduce, reuse, recycle, burn it to the damned ground.

Eric Margolis explains the increasingly idiotic American war in Syria.

What a mess! In the crazy Syrian war, US-backed and armed groups are fighting other US-backed rebel groups. How can this be?

It is so because the Obama White House had stirred up the war in Syria but then lost control of the process. When the US has a strong president, he can usually keep the military and intelligence agencies on a tight leash.

…

As a result, the two arms of offensive US strategic power, the Pentagon, and CIA, went separate ways in Syria. Growing competition between the US military and militarized CIA broke into the open in Syria.

Fed up with the astounding incompetence of the White House, the US military launched and supported its own rebel groups in Syria, while CIA did the same.

Fighting soon after erupted in Syria and Iraq between the US-backed groups. US Special Forces joined the fighting in Syria, Iraq and most lately, Libya.

While nothing good can possibly come out of this shifting mire of stupidity, many things could go very wrong. Some already have. Some probable outcomes to consider:

  • At best huge amounts of dollars are wasted and a few Americans are killed;
  • Huge numbers of Syrians and others are killed, maimed, and displaced;
  • Displaced refugees flood into the West;
  • The refugees are mad as hell with us (and with pretty good reason);
  • More terrorism (here not there);
  • The possibility of ISIS or some other radical group actually acquiring a nation;
  • The spread of the above to surrounding areas;
  • Full blown U.S. war with casualties, expenses, and no win possible (see Iraq and Afghanistan, etc.);
  • War with Russia (worse than no-win);
  • A government corrupt enough to move on and do it again somewhere else and a population ignorant enough to let them.

We were warned against such foolishness. In addition to the warnings we have actively seen these things play out live. Some of these examples are recent. Very little of all this activity is hidden.

Idiotic Foreign Policy (If Any)

In Washington, whatever the policies may be, common sense and intelligence certainly are foreign. Foreign as in alien, absent, and completely unknown. The crowd clustered around The Hill is so stupid that they could only be modern Americans. True, the owners – the banks and corporations and special interests, sometimes behind the scenes – they have smarts. But they are marred by an evil as deep as D.C.’s vapidity.

The only real policy in the District is stealing and wasting money through a never-ending game of domination (of everything and everyone). The foreign part? Let’s just call in “international affairs” to differentiate it from the domestic thievery and oppression. Internationally, let’s start with “policy” towards Iran.

Washington has had it out for Iran since the 1950s. The reason originally given to the American people for this animosity has long since been forgotten. The real reason I already covered, the power and the money thing. Still, today, Iran is bad. Iran is our enemy. We would go to war with Iran except we’ve lately discovered we’re not all that good at the sport anymore (see Iraq, etc.). Iran is bad.

There’s ISIS. ISIS is bad (sometimes). It would seem to the sensible that a terrorist organization that destroys nightclubs, beheads priests, and runs people down with delivery trucks would be bad full-time. The problem is that Washington created ISIS, intentionally as a CIA toy or accidentally in a drunken stupor. They made them, trained, them, armed them, funded them and then kicked them in the head to get the jihadis really angry. They’ve alternated between these things off and on for a good, long time now. Meanwhile, Washington and its inbreed allies in Europe have willfully imported the terrorists into the West. Insane! The cycle of lunacy goes on apace but, officially, the liars of Columbia will say ISIS is our enemy. ISIS is bad.

Then there’s Russia. Russia is descended from another big, criminally talented, power and money nation, the U.S.S.R. I recall as a child hearing we had a of problems with them and had had such for a while. Then, suddenly – “POOF!” – they were gone. All was quiet for a while and then along came the modern, civilized nation of Russia. Political BS aside, if nations were individual people, America and Russia would look like twins. The sensible (where’d he go??) might think our two countries would be cooperating at everything, being the best of friends. No.

Washington has again decreed that Russia is an evil empire. Russia hates us. Russia is our enemy. Some of the very lowest and dumbest dregs around D.C. actually want a war with Russia. We could not win that one. Neither could Russia. Not an all-out war. We’d all be dead. The Americans and Soviets of old knew this. Thus the grudging but relatively peaceful cold war. Putin and company still appear to have some sense. Washington has lost it all. Russia is bad.

So: Iran bad; ISIS bad; Russia bad. Today, wouldn’t you know it, news comes that Russia is bombing the living hell out of ISIS in Syria. They’re flying heavy bombers out of … wait for it … Iran.

One might call this irony but, really, words cannot describe it. The closet we can get is, “Washington is our enemy” or “Washington is bad”.

Rise of the Machines: The Self-Crashing Car

Another week, another Tesla auto-pilot crash.

I’ve ranted before about just how bad American drivers are – they, the most of them, are horrible. Most of the nation’s roads have come under my own personal review. I drive extensively in the eastern and southeastern U.S. With the exception of the open expanses of the west and a few rural segments back east (and those usually at night) it is very bad out there and no fun anymore.

There’re different kinds of bad wherever one motors. In most big cities (LA, Atlanta, NYC, Miami, D.C., etc.) there’s fast and bad. Well, fast until a wreck completely stops traffic. In South Carolina, the whole state, it’s sloooooow and bad. Everywhere else it’s inattentive, careless, and bad. Sometimes a little malice is thrown in. Mindless zombies, who would quickly call for gun control, don’t mind at all careening around in the equivalent of a cruise missile while texting, eating, sleeping, vaping, talking, singing, rapping, screaming, grooming, and just about everything else imaginable (except driving).

My proposed solution is very, very simple. Most people, I’d like to think, are capable of properly operating a vehicle. All they have to do is DO it! Simple. Those who just can’t, and it’s a LARGE number, should not drive. Period. The auto industry, the insurance industry, and the malevolent forces of the state have another solution – self-driving cars.

Some day the technology will be proficient. Then, but not now, the systems will actually work. Of course, then they will be mandatory; no one, no matter how good behind the wheel, will not have the option to self drive. There won’t even be steering wheels anymore. That will afford the government incredible control over who goes where, when they go, how fast they go, and if they can go. That nightmare is still ten, twenty years down the road.

For now, more and more manufacturers are installing auto-drive systems, usually marketed under the ever-popular, yet ever-deceptive “safety” label. Take any of these systems and read about them in the manufacturer’s owner’s manual. To a one they all suggest the system is not a substitute for a competent driver, it may not work (at all, sometimes), and it is not fool-proof.

The fools don’t care. Safety.

More expensive models, like Tesla, come with a variety of auto-pilot features. They too have disclaimers no one reads. The idea is that they can pilot the car well unless something unexpected comes up. Unexpected, you know, like a semi or a guard rail, or something one would almost never see out on the road…

A Southfield art gallery owner told police his 2016 Tesla Model X was in Autopilot mode when it crashed and rolled over on the Pennsylvania Turnpike last week. The crash came just one day after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a report on a fatal crash in May involving a Tesla that was in self-driving mode.

 – Detroit Free Press.

The Tesla owner (not “driver” anymore) will still be cited by the police for the crash. How about that? You pay $100,000 for a government-subsidized robot car and it still crashes AND you get a ticket. I’ll bet the owner whines about this. I bet he sues Tesla or at least tries to raise them as a defense in traffic court. He bought for “safety” not for responsibility.

I don’t buy any of it. I now add robot cars to the list of those who just shouldn’t be on the roads at all. Until that day (ha!) I’m in the market for a new vehicle myself, something that will allow me to survive the increasingly dangerous roads of America and the stupid, incompetent drivers, something like this:

Google.

New Hampshire Nullification

America, Athens, Courts, English common law, freedom, Georgia, government, injustice, jury, jury nullification, justice, law, New Hampshire, Rome, stupidity, trial, tyranny

They are serious about “Live Free or Die”in the Granite State. A buddy of mine just bought a house there and I’m sure he will appreciate the following “leave me alone” news.

The New Hampshire House passed a bill that would make it the first state in the nation to require courts to inform juries of their right to vote not guilty when the verdict would produce an unjust result. This right, which all juries possess but may not be aware of, is called jury nullification. The bill is now awaiting approval in the Senate.

  • Free Thought Project, June 9, 2016

Yes, all juries in the United States possess the right and authority to nullify a law as it affects a particular defendant via a not guilty vote. Think of it as a vote of conscious. Here’s an example from a case that really happened. An underaged, teenage girl took some naughty selfies and sent them to a friend. Kids do stupid things like that. Governments do worse. The state where she lived (actually happened in multiple places) charged her with manufacturing and distributing child pornography – pictures of herself. The government even acknowledged her as both the suspect and the victim. This is near the absolute height of stupidity. A conviction would put such an innocent (if silly) girl on the sex offender registry, which is supposed to protect innocent (even silly) people from real predators. Supposed to. Really, it’s just another state scheme for power.

If such a stupid case ever made it to a jury, the jury could (regardless of the technicalities of the law) return a verdict of “not guilty” as a guilt verdict (even if correct under the law and by the facts) would be an injustice to the young girl – the victim also, remember.

The Free Thought story goes on:

Even if government has proved that someone is guilty under its law, a jury can let the person go free if it disagrees with the law and the punishment. This is one of the few ways in which citizens have power within the system to counter the irrational tendencies of centralized bureaucracy.

New Hampshire currently allows the defense “to inform the jury of its right to judge the facts and the application of the law in relation to the facts in controversy.” However, the House bill would have judges explain this right to juries which, according to the Tenth Amendment Center, makes it “more likely that a juror will consider this option.”

Judges would be required to make the following statement:

“Even if you find the state has proved all of the elements of the offense charged beyond a reasonable doubt, you may still find that based upon the facts of this case, a guilty verdict will yield an unjust result, and you may find the defendant not guilty.”

…

If the New Hampshire bill makes it through the Senate and past the governor, it will be an historic moment in the American justice system. The current legal system is hostile to the idea of jury nullification, with judges threatening “secret juries” and police defying injunctions by removing activists.

However, in past times, jury nullification was viewed as a primary and necessary function of juries. As the Cato Institute points out:

“You can’t find references to “jury nullification” around the time of the American Revolution. That’s because it was considered to be part and parcel of what a jury trial was all about. If jurors thought the government was treating someone unjustly, they could acquit and restore that person’s liberty. Jury trials were celebrated–and explicit provisions were put into the Constitution so that the government could not take them away.”

Perhaps New Hampshire can remind the nation that we are not bound by the dictates of government, and we still have the power to protect our fellow citizens from state-sanctioned injustice.

Openly hostile is putting it mildly. A few states indirectly dance around the issue. For instance, the Georgia Constitution expressly says juries are the judges of the facts and the law. However, in reality in the Peach State – as in most jurisdictions, the judge declares himself the arbiter of what the law is and how the law applies to a given case. Judges give “charges” on the law to a jury at the conclusion of evidence and arguments. Some, most charges are “pattern” and are given preemptively by the judge right out of a handbook (complied by other judges in conference). The parties can make special suggestions. But, in no case, will it be permitted to tell the jury they can find a defendant not guilty because they disagree with the law.

Judges put people in jail for contempt and even jury tampering for even trying to get the word out about nullification. That’s hostility in an attempt to preserve power. As CATO points out, this is part of the traditional system for juries. Not just in America and England but all the way back to Athens and Rome. The violent prevention of nullification knowledge is just another part of the near-terminal decline of the trial by jury.

New Hampshire is often in the vanguard of freedom fighting in the U.S.A. Let’s hope the Senate and Governor feel as strongly about decent legal tradition as the House did.

…well…

I did a little follow-up research and discovered that the Senate did not follow through. Instead, on or around May 5th they let the Bill (HB 1270) die a procedural death. Very noble of them. Perhaps more than a few members will suffer a similar electoral fate come November. Anyway, there’s always next session. Live free or nullify.

I used to want to teach law or political theory at the university level. Now I do not. Well, honestly part of me still does. However, I have come to the conclusion it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. For years – a decade or so – I had a search running at Higheredjobs.com. I recently turned it off.

After maybe 100 failed inquiry letters and several first (and last) interviews I realized there is a disconnect between me and the academic system. It’s a good thing. I would not fit in. I imagine being the only non-communist on the faculty might be uncomfortable. Less comfortable would be my students. As I have chronicled here modern university students are large toddlers, less concerned with learning than feeling safe.

There’s a new and better educational model anyway. It uses independence and technology for a new take on the classical school experience. Socrates and Aquinas would approve if they were still around. In their respective ancient days only those who desired to learn furthered their education beyond a rudimentary level.

Times had changed by the 1970s when my father was teaching at Mississippi State. The emphasis was primarily on learning but the post hippy culture was creeping in. Serious students mingled on campus with party animals. In the corners social revolutionaries plotted the future of safe spaces, inclusion, and sustainability (still not sure what they sustain – certainly not education). I remember the pretty girls and the copious amounts of coffee and cigarettes consumed by the faculty.

Times kept changing. By the advent of my tenure at the University of Georgia the counterculture was taking control. Still, those that wanted to learn could but it was frowned upon. I fell somewhere between the studious and the partyers. The pretty girls still got my attention. Things were worse in law school. There I joined, fully, the ranks of the studious. As a rebel of demented mental ability I sought out the fundamental theories and origins behind the law. I largely did so in secret and on my own.

Today the inmates run the asylum. Beyond math, science and engineering real learning is frowned upon. There’s a lot of frowning. Tell a pretty girl she’s pretty and you may be brought up on charges. Coffee still seems safe but nicotine is verboten. Say things like “I like guns” or “taxes are too high” or “people should work for a living” and the student crybabies will melt and the faculty will launch into hysterical tyrades.

To be a white man on campus results in treatment once reserved for the likes of Hester Prynne. Pride in Western tradition, morality and common sense are treated like leprosy.

The schools (as they are still called) waste resources on sports, safe spaces, counseling, women’s studies, black studies, gay black women’s studies and a host of other nonsense.

These are the universities mind you. From Harvard to Notre Dame to my beloved UGA the failure of education has spread like a cancer. The lower, primary schools (especially those run by government – most) are in even worse shape.

Notre Dame professor Dr. Patrick Deneen says even the best colleges, like his, are “committing civilizational suicide.”

“What our educational system aims to produce is cultural amnesia, a wholesale lack of curiosity, history-less free agents, and educational goals composed of content-free processes and unexamined buzz-words like ‘critical thinking,’ ‘diversity,’ ‘ways of knowing,’ ‘social justice,’ and ‘cultural competence.’

Our students are the achievement of a systemic commitment to producing individuals without a past for whom the future is a foreign country, cultureless ciphers who can live anywhere and perform any kind of work without inquiring about its purposes or ends, perfected tools for an economic system that prizes ‘flexibility’ (geographic, interpersonal, ethical).”

Frightening but accurate. What happened? What are the sane and the responsible to do?

Gary North did a fantastic job laying out the history and demise of American education. His conclusion is simple and right – “close the schools.” They have failed. They do the opposite of what was once intended. They are beyond the point of redemption. Close them all.

The public schools are in group two. They are likely to die, no matter what. The only economically relevant question today is this: “How long will voters authorize the tax money required to keep them on life support?”

 – North, March 19, 2016.

He mentions the modern, better alternative, guaranteed to deliver real learning – the online education. The Kahn Academy is the largest school in the world with 25 million students. It’s free to anyone. There are others like it. They are beginning to take a bite out of traditional, failed schooling.

MIT boldly put nearly all of its courses online for free, for anyone. Some books will need to be acquired. There will be a small expense associated though many, many books are completely free on Kindle. Any ambitious young person with a laptop and a very basic comprehension of English and fundamental math can literally educate themselves at little to no cost and at their own pace.

There are a host of other opportunities online like Udemy. It’s an outfit or concept like this I may end up going with. Or I might just publish books and/or create my own e-classes in topics that interest me. The sky is the limit.

Educrats and silly professors are panicked because of this increasing competition. No time wasted waiting on the lowest common denominator to catch up. No boredom. No anti-western indoctrination. No crushing student loans of money illegally printed out of thin air.

No need to wallow amid a bunch of weak socialists in a dangerous environment. I recently noted the progress of Georgia’s H.B.859, a bill that would allow free people to legally carry firearms at state colleges. At present these schools are gun free zones – the type of places where the majority of violence occurs. It happens because criminals have a monopoly on force in such places.  The bill would tilt the tables in favor of ordinary people.

As such, it is opposed by criminals and school faculty and staff lacking common sense. UGA law professor Sonja West wrote a hysterical piece for Slate decrying self-defense. Using backwards antidotal evidence and shaky psuedo legal reasoning she conveys her central thought: she does not like guns. At least not guns in private hands. It’s just terrible people might have a legal fighting chance to repel attacks; the Second Amendment be damned.

The hoplophobia and mania runs deeper at the Red and Black, UGA’s leftist student newspaper: “Donald Trump may be the 21st-century equivalent of Mussolini, but the real threat to democracy is right here in Georgia.”

That’s all I really need to quote. Having worn out the Hitler label the lefties are turning to Mussolini. The poor argument is that guns threaten democracy. Democracy is about as big a threat as one might contrive. Free people with guns are a check on violence and tyranny, democratic or otherwise. Pitiful.

There was a death at the academy. Learning died. Now the schools themselves are headed to the graveyard. I hope you will share this information with a young person and said person’s parents. Help save them from wasting time and money and from exposure to whimps, communists, and freedom haters. Help them learn and explore their world freely.

Just Who Are The Animals Here?

Congress, the Georgia General Assembly, and the United Nations have some competition in the running for world’s dumbest governing body. Meet the city commission of Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia: ten utter morons and one near-useless mayor. It is alleged that one member has a triple digit IQ but no one is certain which it is. The rumor could be a hoax.

The commission itself could be considered a hoax, and a very funny one, but for its propensity for unending dastardly deeds. Ages ago Georgia’s second city was governed by an all white good old boys club. Following integration and the introduction of some good old black boys, the body degenerated into a constant racial brouhaha. Now, fully diversified, the group serves no known noble purpose; their actions, mostly petty, serve their own pathetic needs. The public, largely uninterested, is largely ignored. Again, but for brooding evil, this would be an appropriate relationship.

While normally content to lavish themselves with ultra-expensive “working” vacations in foreign resorts (no where better to discuss civic beautification than Hawaii) and looting the city Treasury for free gas (got the card, gotta use it!), they occasionally stumble into darker territory.

They give public roads to private clubs free of charge. They tailor local laws to the desires of private clubs. They subsidize brutality and incompetence negatively impacting the public. They run the taxpayers through the ringer: property taxes maxed out they’ve turned to charging exorbitant charges for rain water, air and sunlight.

Now the fools are coming for the animals. Take your furry friends and run.

The city’s animal control ordinance is due for its first revision since about 1970. Last year you probably noticed all the stray dogs, pigs, and deer running amuck at the Masters Tournament. The problem (real problem, really, for real) shall soon be solved! Sure, they’ll solve it in the most expensive manner possible and with tactics to make the SS giddy, but solve it they will. Only a vote away.

Henceforth all local animals will be registered with the government. All for the low, low price of $50 per animal, per year – forever. All funds will go directly to the Ritz Carlton Maui and BP.

There use to be high regard for things like privacy, private property, freedom from prohibition against unlawful taking and similar atrocities. Today the Supreme Court would likely declare this a perfectly normal tax and nothing more.

Worse, there shall be mandatory microchipping of all critters in the county. While the benefits (name one) of the mark of the beast are debatable, the cost is not. Just another tax though – and you did vote these bastards into office. Time to pay the crack pippers.

Many municipalities nationwide are enacting and enforcing the chip laws. As the Chronicle astutely notes: “Down at Animal Control, it seems to be less about the animal than the control.” They’re coming for your kids next, by the way. Then, you. 666! 666!

Worst of all the new law would give law enforcement new and Draconian powers. Any animal found outside without a collar and tag is subject to being detained and hauled into animal court. There, Dr. Euthanasia will dispense with rapid and final “justice.” One would think, with the advent of the microchip, tags would be irrelevant. The dog catcher could carry a scanner. “Beep, boop! Fido belongs to Mrs. Smith just down the street.”  This isn’t about thinking or else it would not be debated by the retards at the commission.

Pets on your private property or in your home are not safe either. The new law would allow authorities to enter private property without cause, without notice, and without a warrant or any pretense of Due Process. Take that, Fourth Amendment!

I call “Bullshit!” on this whole scheme. I like animals and I live in the Augusta area. There is no problem with two, four, six or eight legged varmits that can’t be addressed by current law or, better yet, by common sense. A dangerous dog or bull, loose and menacing, may be dealt with as needed. And, these instances are exceedingly rare. They do not require a $50 license fee to solve – a ten cent bullet will work every time.

You know where I stand against government and its hellish affairs. I’ll dispense with my usual rhetoric. I speak for the voiceless animals – not one of whom is guilty of voting for mindless savages.

Over the years I’ve observed a vast host of animals in urban settings, to include: dogs, cats, mice, frogs, snakes, birds, lizards, spiders, bees, ants, squirrels, beavers, turtles, aligators, possums, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, deer, horses, fish, and cows. Not one I ever saw caused any trouble.

These are God’s creatures! Many and most roamed freely long before people ever visited Georgia. Leave them the hell alone!

If anyone must be euthanized, then I gladly offer up the members of the Augusta commission. Bastards!
