Homeschooling is the Traditional Way

For ages, almost all children were educated in the home or in small neighborhood groups. The mass (public) “school” movement is a recent Austrian industrial aberration designed to create little human worker robots. Who would have thought that a viral hoax would be its potential undoing? The Atlantic takes a city slicker-centric look at the nearly-forced rise in homeschooling:

Homeschooling organizations and consultants have faced a deluge of panicked parents frantic to find alternatives to regular school. Some families hate the idea of their kids sitting on Zoom for hours at a time. Others worry about exposing family members to the coronavirus or seeing schools close suddenly after a surge in cases. Although some of these parents will likely put their kids back in school once the pandemic is under control, homeschooling advocates see this period as an unlikely opportunity to evangelize their way of life, which they describe as more flexible, creative, and adaptable to each student than traditional school. Homeschooling families, which included roughly 3 percent of school-age children in the United States in 2016, have lots of different reasons for wanting to educate their own kids. But they’re united in a common assessment: They want out of the traditional system. The question is whether COVID-19 will cause a temporary bump in homeschooling as parents piece together their days during the pandemic or mark a permanent inflection point in education that continues long after the virus has been controlled. Some families may find that they want to exit the system for good.

Good! Good! Good!

Here’s a heuristic, if such things still hold water: look at the schools, public and private, through the lens of hoax mask enforcement. Any group of people who are so stupid or so malicious as to go along with the lies at this point has no business educating anybody – certainly not your child.

It’s turned into an education weekend at the old blog.

The failure and pending (or, in-progress) collapse of the “schools” becomes apparent to even more people.

“School finances are in full reverse mode. Whispered in the hallways before every school committee and in every town council chamber is the awesome reality that sales tax and property tax collections are down 25 – 30 percent. The fear is palpable…. It seems to me that Public Ed as we currently know it will be history in about four years. It is a big edifice. It will take a few years to fully implode, but not a decade. There’s no money left to keep it going as it is.”

Let four years come and go unhindered! We should pay to keep it from operating as it is, or was. Read the whole thing – from the insecticide factories to the declining colleges. It’s real and it’s really happening – now.

The solution is, again, homeschooling and/or small neighborhood schooling. Lately, I’ve been taken with the concept of unschooling, which was probably what I needed so many years ago. Would that work for everyone? No. But, the beautiful thing is that we don’t need, and in fact, cannot tolerate any more one-size-fits-none bullshit. All of the details can be ironed out and easier than most imagine.

Over this strange summer, multiple people have suggested that I found a school. It’s funny but I first floated the same idea to some Fed-Soc types back in 2001, in the basement of the Supreme Court of all places. As with the other big news of that year, nineteen years have passed and … nothing. I have looked into the idea. The closest I’ve come to action is a fictional character doing the work. I am not Tom Ironsides. But, I’m still interested.

Dr. I. always envisioned the necessity of an online component, even for a dedicated base school of unrivaled excellence. I think the home, more specifically the UN-schooling way, it the future (as it was the past). My vision of a remote “umbrella” school would be to publish the suggested direction in which parents should initially steer their young students, then getting out of the way, coupled with advisement as needed and a few other minor services. Umbrellas usually act to keep the state at bay. And, “we” could always offer a more intensive or directed courseload for those seeking computer-age direct instruction at a distance.

This scheme, along with multiple projects, one super project, and about six books, I’m slowly working on. If you have an existing or start-up idea on the same lines and you can tolerate a mildly cantankerous iconoclast, then let me know. Otherwise, please stand by: I might lean on some of you for capital. (And I know how helpful you’ve been on that front before…).

A new column is coming at the end of the new week. Stay tuned.

A follow-up(s) on the earlier ed story:

Catholic schools, many of them – or, some of them, are in trouble and some are closing. This is in keeping with the trend reported in the other story. It could also have something to do with the way the churches were attacked by the hoax shutdowns. If your child’s private school closes, do not use the public alternative. That’s when homeschooling really comes into play.

And, again, the colleges are in real trouble. LRC asks what we can do about it? He’s got some great ideas, of course. My answer might be: cheer.

Or, where it should be in almost all cases.

The “schools” are slowly, painfully coming back into session, with masks and fear in abundance. In the middle of August, I noted a poll that showed that 82% of American parents were afraid of sending the kids back to school and that 25% would not do so. It may be a little early to see how those positions play out in full, but we do have a new poll with some mixed results.

Now, parents report to Gallup that 89% of the kiddies will be in some form of school or another. Yes, something happened to the concerns of 82% and the resolve of 25%. Nuances: public “school,” private school, and parochial school attendance is down this year. Charter school (a concept I’ve never really understood) enrollment is up. The great news is that homeschooling has allegedly doubled!!! It’s up to ten percent of all children from five last year.

The government’s indoctrination, molestation prisons are dead. The privates are, by and large, a mixed bag. Home is where the heart, the results, and the hope is. And, homeschools are not the second-largest block in the ed demographics game. If this trend holds, then next year home education will account for more students than all other public alternatives combined.

We’ll borrow a label and call these home students the talented tenth of the future!

Easier if never goes on.

Eric Peters recounts the Corona-ified tale of a private school teacher who was dismissed because he refused to bow to the mask.

A teacher recently lost his job for refusing to Face Diaper as ordered by the Sickness Psychotics who run the school where he works. And for refusing to abide the Face Diapering of the kids in his school. As he put it in a letter, his job was to “teach, not terrorize” the kids in his care.

Which is precisely what it is to force kids to walk around with a Face Diaper on. Unlike adults, who can understand the sickness of this “pandemic” of manufactured hysteria, kids – the elementary school-age kids this man taught – are especially vulnerable to psychological damage caused by making them believe everyone’s going to die by making everyone wear a Face Diaper and thus live in terror of everyone.

This teacher refused to go along with it.

After his dismissal, this man was contacted by several parents disgusted by the treatment he received but who admired his taking a stand for himself, on principle – and for the sake of their kids. They pulled their kids out of school and will now homeschool – to be taught by this same teacher, Undiapered and unafraid. Their kids will not be Diapered or made afraid, either.

This was at a Montessori school too. The fear is everywhere. But, the parents, some of them, did the right thing. It’s funny, as explained in the article, the irony of a Montessori school mandating fascism. But, if you care about your kids, then you are responsible for educating them – and not allowing them to be terrorized by psychos and idiots. Many thanks to EP for sharing this!

4th Circuit, law, schools, terminal decline, trans, Virginia

They’re on a roll, those staunch defenders of civilization! The 4th Circuit just concurred with the 11th that muh constitution grants the mentally ill rights over and above those of unwanted normies kids in the “schools.”

In line with anti-discrimination protections recently upheld by the nation’s highest court, the Fourth Circuit ruled Wednesday against a Virginia school that barred a transgender teen from using the boy’s bathroom.

Gavin Grimm was a rising sophomore when his family informed Gloucester County High School officials that Grimm identified as male. For a few weeks until word got out, Grimm used the bathroom for male students.

But the 2-1 ruling from the Fourth Circuit today notes that the school backpedaled after its superintendent, principal and board members “began receiving numerous complaints via email,” many coming from “adults in neighboring communities and even other states.”

Bigots, even in other states. How sad. Maybe Trump, Crenshaw, Pence, Kirk, and Co. will praise the court’s bold defense of the c-c-constitution on tonight’s episode of the insane elephant show! They will, sooner or later (probably sooner), add this insanity to the big tent of GOP stupidity. Everyone else, homeschool.

As the dedicated professionals of the public disinformation and communist programming cabal reel from one sniffle-based hoax, they grapple with how to deceptively implement another.

John Marshall keeps a picture of Breonna Taylor in his office at the headquarters of Kentucky’s largest school district, a visual reminder, he says, of the need for curriculum changes that better honor and focus on Black stories.

Taylor, a Black emergency medical technician, spent her senior year of high school at Kentucky’s Jefferson County Public Schools, where Marshall, the district’s chief diversity officer, has been leading a system-wide revamp of teaching materials and practices.

Good golly! It’s another “education” story that has it all:

  • Chief diversity officer!
  • Shifting the focus of dumbing it down!
  • Minority majority in Kentucky (they ain’t alone, ‘Murica)!
  • Neo Tower of Bable confusions!
  • “Virtual” learning (which virtually isn’t)!
  • Equity and inclusion everywhere! (just like Holocaustianity, just maybe not quite as important?)
  • 81% of publik skool teechaz supporting Boisterous Lying Marxists!
  • CONTROL!!!
  • New “perspectives!”
  • Lies!
  • More lies!
  • Hyphenationated paperwork-citizens!
  • Likely CIA front company psy-ops!
  • Those meaningful conversations no SJW or globopedo will tolerate! Hey, yeah. Let’s talk about Cannon Hinnant’s murder by that… Oh, okay, I’ll show myself out the door!
  • Saint Floyd of the Opioids!
  • And, much more!

You’ve probably identified the biggest issue with this crock of shit, right? Having succeeded so brilliantly in destroying the curriculum and turning off the young minds, these changes have nothing to take root in. What else, really, can they do that they’re not doing now? White guilt trip sessions? Daily beatings? Equity lynchings?

Who the hell cares? Not you. You homeschool! You’d damn well better.

Here’s another murder that won’t make any national headlines.

Police said Tuesday night that three teens, Keyshara Michelle Deans, 19, Nezyiha Zamir Collins, 19, and Tyreek Qumay Rodgers, 18, were all arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Authorities were still looking for 17-year-old Devin Cordell Jones. A juvenile petition and secure custody order for the murder of Veronica Lee Baker were being sought for Jones. On Wednesday morning, the teen was taken into custody and charged with Baker’s murder.

Yes, the names are giveaways. And, yes, some online commenters have picked up on several other suggestions and too-common anomalies. I always, as you know, like to look at the school profile. Here’s Garner High, from which the victim had just graduated. Rest assured that the suggestions, anomalies, and modern cultural problems were there and played their respective roles. It can perhaps be summed up best in the graph one finds upon clicking the “Students” button. My intuition was rewarded; that’s quite the change from thirty years ago – and it’s a pattern that’s repeating across NC and everywhere else. Demographics = destiny. Destiny increasingly looks like homicide.

These are not schools. They’re not even close anymore. Now, they’re starting to resemble hunting grounds.

Government School = Child Abuse Projection

Just when one thinks the satanists who operate the country’s failed public “schools” can’t sink any lower, they do. A new trend in “education” has teachers calling the cops and CPS on parents whose children don’t tow the moronic line on Zoom faux classes. Pot, kettle; black as educrat hearts.

If there’s one thing the public school system shouldn’t be doing right now, it’s making life even more hellishly difficult for parents. And yet many teachers in the state of Massachusetts are contacting the authorities to report parents for suspected child abuse when kids fail to show up for Zoom classes.

“Massachusetts school officials have reported dozens of families to state social workers for possible neglect charges because of issues related to their children’s participation in remote learning classes during the pandemic shutdown in the spring,” The Boston Globe reported on Saturday.

This story really has it all:

  • The little girl in the picture is wearing a fear hoax mask, while at home, putatively during a remote “class.” W.T.H?
  • Immigrants who can’t speak English.
  • Working mothers.
  • Single mothers.
  • Mass dysgenic effects.
  • Textbook SJW behavior: lies, doubling down, and projection.
  • Evil (and, I really mean that word) officials, who themselves abuse children, daring to accuse parents of the same thing by not playing the fool’s game of double-fake schooling.
  • Children, temporarily freed from direct attacks, still learning nothing.
  • A school district with elementary schools cursed with shifting demographics and collapsing academic performance. (Those usual go hand in hand).
  • Police state intimidation tactics.
  • Bullying and abuse (by a school) of a mentally challenged child and his family.
  • Lazy, wicked power-tripping, writ large.
  • Pundits who think the schools should be doing anything but closing and bulldozing.

Get your children out of these luciferian communism centers. Get them completely out, to include out of all contact, even the virtual. Homeschool or face terminal failure and accusations that you committed the crimes of the system.

Augusta, barber, Bobby Banks, death, education, history, schools

The world lost a legend last week. Bobby Banks, a heroic educator, and barber in Augusta, GA, died at the age of 87. I’m a little down about this and not sure how to begin, so I’ll just freestyle it.

Mr. Banks was formerly my barber, the greatest I’ve ever known, and a very good friend. He started cutting hair in another age while in the US Navy. He taught my parents in high school. Rather, he taught my Mother and tolerated Daddy. He was the principal at both my junior high and high schools, back when both were concerned with education. As luck wouldn’t have it, he skated ahead of me by a year or two. I never had the privilege of getting in trouble with him.

We had long talks about education. I know much about his time in the schools and his retirement. We spoke frankly about the changes over the years. He was the kind of man the public schools desperately need today (or needed 25 years ago) but which they simply will not have anymore. He was happier as a barber anyway.

He was fantastic with the blades – one of several business ventures he maintained. He was the real deal: providing manly cuts with razor-close precision, unafraid to perform a little impromptu surgery the way they did 200 years ago – usually without consulting the patient first. “Did that sting?”

I know tons of people who loved him in his academic role. The stories about his demanding, caring, off-beat, and semi-scofflaw ways are legion and legend.

“Where do you think y’all are going?”

“To Burger King, Mr. Banks. We can’t stand school today.”

‘Me either. Let’s go.”

He bent rules to do the right thing.

“You boys will be sorry you broke those windows.”

“We are sorry, Mr.—“

“The cops are coming! Shut up and get in my trunk!”

He was too good, especially for what’s become of the local ed scene. Back then, things, scores included, looked up, not down.

I got to know him in ways many students did not. He cut my hair before my wedding. He’d humor my daughter’s instructions and then cut my hair the way he always did. When Daddy was sick and dying and couldn’t leave the house, Mr. Banks made a house call – I know of no other barber who does or did. The connection was multi-generational. He proudly told me that his father and my grandfather used to raise and fight gamecocks together (back when America was a free country). He’s the only person I’ve ever lent my vintage cockfighting manuals to, the only one who was interested. The only one who, or one of few, who knew what Grit ‘n Steel was. He’s the only other man I ever knew who had one of Ethan Allen’s rare Bicentennial wall rugs – his copy hung in the shop at Daniel Village.

They don’t make them like they used to and I’m not sure they ever made another like him. All good things and people come to an end, even the very best. My condolences to his wife, family, friends, co-workers, and community left pooer by his passing, though richer for the knowing.

Farewell. Rest in Peace.
