Trumpets

This week The Donald unveiled his VP pick – Indiana Governor Mike Pence. I really know nothing of Pence except that he is a “Tea Party” Republican, whatever that has come to mean. The people I know who support Trump and many media outlets seem okay with the choice. It is what it is.

One thing I know is that if one says “Trump Pence” together and rapidly it sounds like “trumpets”. Trumpets heralding a new age … of more of the same, I suspect.

It will be great when November comes and goes and gives us peace for a short while from this circus side-show of an election. When will they start the rush for 2020? March of next year? June? Until then, enjoy the trumpets.

The day after another terror attack in Nice, news of a cover-up from a prior attack. The French government let slip horrifying details about the Bataclan Massacre. The acts committed were truly barbaric. Why not disclose them so the people can see what they face? Do they want this to be the new normal?

Another newsworthy release – but still heavily redacted – the missing 28 pages from the 9/11 report came out. Saudi involvement, to some degree, is pretty obvious. What struck me as extreme was the extensive, nationwide network that existed before 2001 and how much the government seemed to know or suspect (and did nothing about).

And, another military coup in Turkey. This one may not be going so well. The Turkish military has a history of intervention dating to 1960; they are secularists who may be concerned about the Islamist leanings of the Erdogan regime. They may also be tired of fighting a border war with ISIS while simultaneously having to mop up after terror attacks within the borders. If they succeed, which is doubtful, hopefully they will route out the extremists. If they fail, hopefully there will be reforms and a routing. In any event, hopefully this ends as peaceably as possible.

Lastly, while out on my evening jog I saw them. I saw the Pokemon zombies. Actually it looked like they were having fun. Good for them.

La Marseillaise

Allons enfants de la Patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivé!
Contre nous de la tyrannie,
L’étendard sanglant est levé, (bis)
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!

Aux armes, citoyens,
Formez vos bataillons,
Marchons, marchons!
Qu’un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons!

Arise, children of the Fatherland,
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us tyranny’s
Bloody banner is raised, (repeat)
Do you hear, in the countryside,
The roar of those ferocious soldiers?
They’re coming right into your arms
To cut the throats of your sons, your women!

To arms, citizens,
Form your battalions,
Let’s march, let’s march!
Let an impure blood
Soak our fields!

La Marseillaise (French National Anthem).

Alone: A man sits in silence and clasps his hands while sitting at the head of a body killed in France's third major terrorist attack in 18 months

Daily Mail, UK.

Last night in Nice, Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a Mohammedan lowlife from Tunisia and a ferocious soldier of Islam, drove a 25-ton truck down a sidewalk for about a mile. I read that distance last night and thought it must have been a misprint or exaggeration; it was accurate. This ferocious soldier cut the throats of 84 men, women, and children (at least 10 children) and injured scores of others.

This Daily Mail story has rather extensive coverage of the attack, including videos of the truck and of the police killing Mohamed. So far, THIS YEAR, Islamic terrorists have killed more than 11,600 people and injured more than 14,000 with similar attacks across 50 countries. Here’s a list. That’s just 2016! There are a few attacks that didn’t make the list. Most of the attacks happened in traditional Muslim countries. Why anyone would want to import this insanity into the West suggests only homicidal, evil intent.

I watched French President Francois Hollande gibber away like a zombie about “taking caution”. I could only tolerate about 5 minutes. We don’t need anymore caution. We need action. Now!

Hillary Clinton, still giddy over escaping felony charges, says delusionally, “Let’s be clear: Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.” Sure, just like she is a worthy classified records trustee.

Donald Trump, with another statement insuring his election, says he will seek a Congressional Declaration of War against ISIS. He won’t get it and it probably wouldn’t work anyway. He likely means he wants to drop more bombs in Syria and Iraq. A real war against terrorism needs to be fought in the West, against the invaders here and against the traitors who brought them in. Congress isn’t going to vote for a war in which many of its members and many of their friends would be considered the enemy.

France’s director of security, Patrick Calvar, a bit more pragmatic that most of his colleagues, admits his country is “on the brink of civil war.” War is already upon us. Another lop-sided battle was fought last night in Nice. The French (and the West) need to heed their own National Anthem. To arms, citizens. It’s time to soak the fields.

Bastille Day Truck Attack

Another baneful cry of ““Allahu Akbar”. Another attack. Another batch of Europeans wiped out. How much is enough?

The body believed to be of a young child. A metaphor – so goes the future of Europe. The Sun.

Seventy-seven people are known dead and perhaps hundreds more are injured after Mohammedan terrorists drove a large truck through a crowd at a street festival.

Read:

HERE;

HERE; and

HERE.

It is alleged two men, armed with firearms and grenades, plowed through people for 100 meters or more. They may have possibly fired into the remaining crowd and/or at police. At least one of them was gunned down; one may be on the run. The victims were celebrating Bastille Day, today, the “Fourth of July” for the French. Now the French are (again) mourning. ISIS is celebrating. People are “shocked”. Some are in denial. The political rats really don’t give a damn.

This incident proves so much. Gun control doesn’t work – with guns or with grenades. Truck bombs don’t even require bombs now. The Guardian reports this scheme has been long proposed by terror groups; it worked smashingly. Mass immigration from the third world does not work. Angry primitives do not belong in a civilized country. So much.

This shit (I do not ask your pardon) has to stop. It’s easier to comment on these attacks, this war when the battlefield is in France or another European country, but the effects are felt throughout the West. As I see it there are but two courses to follow.

France and the West can round up all non-native Europeans, all non-Christians, and deport them once and for all. That’s not enough though. Some won’t willingly go now. They will fight. Those ardent (yet relative) few must be eliminated with extreme prejudice. And, that’s not enough. Once the savages are removed the real work has to start. Those treasonous, murderous politicians, judges, interlopers, and agitators who worked for so long to import this problem must be killed and killed in a way that sends a message. They should be slain with torture – a very slow boat to hell.

The other way this will end up is for all Europeans to die, for the Caliphate to take hold of the continent permanently. And, right now, that is the way we are going.

Judging from history it really has to be one or the other. There is no middle road. The experiment is a failure. The war has begun. It’s time to fight.

I’ve long delayed a more in-depth piece on this subject, one that draws from past European experience with the same savages and provides much-needed inspiration. Expect it soon. I’m also working on an anti-terrorism guide for average people living in these heinous times, people like the Niçois.

This evening I am almost too angry to type. Damn it! This screams out for vengeance. We need a modern-day Charles Martel and we need him now!

Selective Incompetence

Maybe the FBI needs a man running around in a dress to be effective. Lately they’ve been off, either by design or by mishap.

The FBI had Hillary Clinton dead to rights for charges based on her felony violation of 18 U.S.C. § 793, transmitting or losing sensitive, secret information. FBI Director James Comey said she had been “extremely careless” but had not intended any harm. Intent is purposefully not an element of this particular crime so as to prosecute instances of extremely careless, negligent handling of classified material. That was a blatant case of selective (non) prosecution.

The feds sent Martha Stewart up the river for lying to their agents about issues tangential to their failing investigation into her investments. She too likely intended no harm. In fact, nothing in that witch-hunt remotely suggested any intent to cause anyone harm or that anyone was actually harmed. But, she lied. The feds and the cops can (do) lie to us all the time. That’s standard operating procedure. If we lie to them it’s a felony.

That is, unless you’re Omar Mateen. (Remember Mateen?) The FBI convinced Mateen to sign a statement admitting he had previously lied to agents. He wasn’t charged with lying. Nor was he charged with anything related to the FBI’s underlying investigation – terrorism. He simply was let go and the investigation concluded. “In the end, after a counter-terrorism investigation that stretched from May 2013 to March 2014, the agent and his supervisor concluded that Omar Mateen was not a threat and closed the case.”

Mateen later carried out an act of terrorism. He murdered 49 people at the Pulse Club in Orlando (name ring a bell now?). He might not have been able to do so had he received the same scrutiny and treatment as Mrs. Stewart.

Was that selective non-prosecution? Or was it incompetence? Something else?

The above-linked LA Times story revealed the FBI used multiple informants in an effort to nail Mateen or involve him patsy-style in a false flag operation. None of it worked. Case closed. People dead.

Two things jump out at me regarding all of this. First, do not ever talk to or give statements (not oral and certainly not written) to law enforcement. Doing so only gives them grounds to charge you with something should all else fail (unless you’re a terrorist). Second, if this is how the FBI operates, maybe it’s time to get rid of the agency.

Enough of the selective incompetency and the incompetent selection.

Act Your Age?

If one can spare a few minutes from the important Pokemon crash test, then one may use a quick, six-step test to determine one’s oxygen-use based fitness level. Then one can extrapolate ones “real” age. Note: make sure you properly choose English or metric values. And, try to be honest…

CLICK HERE to take the easy test, courtesy of the Daily Mail.

The end result will be your VO2Max level. Mine is 47. What does that mean?

Check out this chart:

machars.net.

My 47, for my age, falls into the high-end of the “excellent” range; I’m one point away from “superior”. I suppose the cigars are holding me back…

A 47 would also be an excellent score for a twenty-something and “good” for a teenager. What’s my physical age? I really can’t calculate it with specificity but I’ll just say “28”. (There are other, more in-depth tests available if one looks for them).

Out of curiosity I went back and took the test from my (unhealthy) specs, circa 2012. Oddly, despite my heavy weight then and my relative inactivity, my score was almost the same. The test is age sensitive and aerobically oriented. I was younger then and I have always had a low resting heartbeat.

The little weights help too.

At any rate, I’m happy to be aging in reverse. Sometimes I’m told I look younger than I am and sometimes I feel it. How about you?

It’s Worse Than I Thought

It’s almost funny, too.

In their quest to do … whatever one does with Pokemon, people are now crashing cars and trespassing on private property.

PHOENIX (AP) — The “Pokemon Go” craze across the U.S. has people wandering into yards, driveways, cemeteries and even an off-limits police parking lot in search of cartoon monsters, prompting warnings that trespassers could get arrested or worse, especially if they cross paths with an armed property owner.

Since the release of the smartphone game last week, police have gotten a flurry of calls from residents about possible burglars or other strangers prowling the neighborhood.

When or if one of these digital zombies runs across that armed property owner (or the cops) we know who Gersh K. will blame.

Smoke and Desire: the Gurkha Seduction

Seduction: the act of, or something that, attracts or charms (to lead astray).

For over a decade the extraordinary charm and quality of the smokes from Kaizad Hansotia and Gurkha have attracted my attention and lead me astray from the ordinary, the bland, and the boring.

My Gurkha Seduction, a 6×5 Toro, graciously led me astray from the sweltering heat of a 102℉! day in the sun (and that was not including a heat index). With the world in danger of melting around me, I was happy to settle in for a medium-bodied ride through cigarland.

IMG_20160703_200830378_HDR

That shrub behind me burst into flames whilst I puffed and sweated away.

This stick has the looks to seduce any smoker. It’s a solid beauty – dark, oily, a little veiny. Hansotia and company always go above and beyond with design and presentation too. Take a look at the work of art of a band here:

IMG_20160703_195653726.jpg

The burn was even and the draw light and easy. The gray ash, if a little flaky (could have been the heat – I was flaky too…), formed well and stayed in its place.

The flavoring began a bit slowly, though about an inch in, the experience mellowed and a deep earthiness flowed, mixed with cedar and spice. The smoke was not too sweet, nor too spicy. For the end of a HOT day, it was just right. In cooler climates this one would pair wonderfully with a morning (or evening) coffee as it holds its own hints of espresso.

My imagination tells me the coffee taste comes from Columbia. The best coffee beans come from Columbia and so does the rich Corojo filler tobacco. The package is bound up in Dominican Olor (said to be the D.R.’s “native” leaf) and wrapped in a shiny Habano leaf from Ecuador.

IMG_20160703_195400405.jpg

The smoking experience was as tempting as the name suggests. It was solid though a little lighter than what I normally go for. As I said above, I was happily lead astray here. Speaking of…

Don’t you be led astray; order your Seduction from my friends at Cigars City – the world’s finest selection and pricing! I had to do a double-take when examining the prices Anthony allows on these babies. One normally associated a Gurkha with the $10 – 15 range. Somehow CC manages to cut that pretty much in half. Think about it, you get a world-class cigar for what has become almost a value stick price. That’s attractive and charming!

Pokemon: Mass Hysterical Stupefaction

I had forgotten about Pokemon – to me it was forgettable. Then, in the past few weeks, I started noticing a resurgence. People on Facebook were talking about the game – some for it, some against – as if it had relevance. I wondered once again if I had slipped-streamed back in time a few decades. It started showing up in the news. I investigated. Pokemon is back.

Pokemon.

It’s back with controversy. The first contention is that the cute little game is being played by many adults now. I remembered it vaguely as something nieces and nephews were into in the 90s. Now, it seems, it is for everyone (except me).

The second controversy comes from the manner in which Pokemon is delivered in the 21st Century – via a free phone app. The app, like most, comes with a long, draconian agreement that no one reads. Hidden in the terms one finds curious language about turning over private information (darn near all of it) to the app and its owners. People seem upset about this. Perhaps “free” really isn’t.

Little about Pokemon is actually known to me. I understand it is some sort of Japanese cartoon cock-fight, maybe mixed with a scavenger hunt. I know children loved it, or love it still, and many adults are completely obsessed. Then I found something…

Back in 1999 I started a book, one of many I never even came close to finishing. It didn’t even have a title. Still doesn’t. It was a “what’s wrong with modern society” kind of book. One of the chapters was “Pokemon”.

I am decades ahead of my time and have been for a while now. My thesis, if I remember rightly, was not that Pokemon is (was) inherently evil. It may be; I’m not sure. However, I am confident that it is one of numerous trivialities with which people obsessively entertain themselves while the world rots around them. I think I wanted to use it, specifically, as a benchmark of the mindless, dumbed-down fantasies people use generally to escape the real world. That was 1999. There’s more rot around now in 2016.

A child’s game is fine for children. If adults enjoy it too, in its place, that’s fine. But, when there is so much else going on, it seems a bit odd that millions spend hours and hours trying to … do whatever it is one does in Poke-land. While they’re searching for the bird or the egg or the rainbow (???) and giving away their identity and location to boot, the economy is collapsing. It’s not just bad numbers anymore – the underpinning themselves are being eviscerated as if by  a massive bombing. Then, there are the real bombings. And the terrorists. The racial strife. The robots. The debt. The attack of the one-worlders. The antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The civilization-resistant “refugees”. Wars. Real world things, many unpleasant. The adults play games.

Given the above turmoil, maybe a little trivial pursuit is in order – a little. I’m pleased today with two things. One, my thoughts are exceedingly constant across time. Two, so consistent also are the silly diversions employed by and against the people.

Notechmagazine.

Play this digital version of Grit and Steel if you like. Just remember: it’s a game; THEY are watching you, and; there’s a big mess sloshing around off-screen.

My thoughts – 17 years in the making.

Facebook: Gun Broker

Tags

Micah Johnson killed those Dallas cops with a gun he bought off Facebook. What must Gersh Kuntzman be thinking now?

Micah Johnson never balked at the $600 asking price for an AK-47 assault rifle. The buy was arranged via Facebook, and consummated in the parking lot of a Target.

Seller Colton Crews forgot about the deal until last week, when ex-Army reservist Johnson killed five Dallas police officers — and federal investigators tracked Crews down.

“I don’t even know how I feel about it right now,” Crews told the Daily News. “I have no idea. It’s awful. It’s just bad.”

Facebook and Target, worse than the gun nuts ever dreamed of being.

What must the conventional be thinking? Soldiers are supposedly heroes. Cops are murderers. Blacks are victims. Facebook is anti-gun. Target is … whatever. This whole story has gone topsy-turvy.

Crews and his step-father remembered meeting Johnson at Target and his being a veteran. At least they thanked him for his service.
