So, it’s not just the people of the U.S. Research finds that about one-third the world’s people are heavyweights.

Around 2.2 billion people – 30 per cent of the total global population – were found to be too fat.

The majority of these were ill as a result.

Levels of obesity have doubled in more than 70 countries since the 80s, according to the major study in the New England Journal of Medicine.

In the UK, a quarter of adults are obese – with a body mass index (BMI) over 30.

It compares to just one in 35 in the 70s.

And one million British kids are also dangerously fat, around eight per cent.

Millions are dying nowadays due to completely preventable causes.

This bodes well for an author prepping a fitness and health book. Hopefully all 2 Billion have access to Amazon and $12.99.

Otherwise hope fades quickly. The article concludes, as most mainstream publications must, with a pleas for urgent government action. Why? Why? Why? Does it really take a government program to stop a cheeseburger? I don’t recall that from my personal story.

Anyway, governments and health management don’t really go together well, at least not in the U.S. The GOP just announced it was losing the war to reform ObamaCare – apparently to itself. Typical.

If you need to shed a few lbs. – and if you’re an American, you do – don’t wait on some nonexistent federal assistance that will never come. Do it yourself.

Statuaries: Fred on Robert E. Lee on American Decline

Please consult the inaugural column by Toadstool over at Fred Reed’s place. Toadstool writes in similar fashion to Fred; they may be related. This one is about how General Lee called out the modern Empire.  Actually called it by that name.

“The consolidation of the states into one vast empire, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of ruin which has overwhelmed all that preceded it.” – Robert E. Lee

The column repeatedly calls for a return to the Articles of Confederation, to freedom. That would be a vast improvement to the current failed system. Most anything would be an improvement. We could still heed Lee’s warnings. We won’t.

Instead we’ll just keep taking down his statutes.

Today marks the 50th Anniversary of one of the most disgraceful incidents in American military history: The Attack on the U.S.S. Liberty, AGTR-5, by Israel. 34 crewmen were killed and 171 wounded in a sustained assault, canon and torpedo fire, from the air and then from the sea.

The attack was entirely unprovoked and the response of the U.S. government was unconscionable. Rescue aircraft launched by the Sixth Fleet were called back immediately, even as the Liberty continue to take withering fire; called back allegedly by Sec. Def. Robert “May He Burn in Hell” McNamara himself.

Please read that linked Infogalactic article. There are other sources, including books, on the matter. You will hear nothing today (or any day/year) about this from the mass fake news media. The cover-up is ongoing even in 2017 – proof of this is that this is likely the first you’ve ever heard of the incident.

The entire event – from the initial meddling in/monitoring of someone else’s war to attack itself to the failed response to the horrible mistreatment/dishonoring of the dead and the survivors to the continuing silence – is more proof positive of the utter untrustworthiness of government.

The ship could not have had a more appropriate name. Remember the Liberty.

Theresa May implored Britain to “vote conservative” today. In light of recent events and statements I’m not sure that that means vote for her. While expect the Tories to carry the election, if I were to vote, I would vote UKIP or write in “Winston’s Ghost” or something.

Exit polls later this afternoon I suppose…

This would be the same Trump administration that, just a short while ago, complained about being spied upon by this very program…

The Trump administration endorsed a full extension of the intelligence community’s most controversial snooping powers Wednesday, saying that the public has gotten the wrong impression about tools that are designed to target foreigners but, increasingly, have ensnared Americans as well.

Thomas P. Bossert, President Trump’s top counterterrorism adviser, in an op-ed in the New York Times, said they are backing a new bill introduced this week to permanently extend Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act — the part of the law that allows snooping.

Mr. Bossert said the public will have to trust the government’s assertions that the program is valuable, since most of its successes have to remain classified. But he said Section 702 intelligence helped thwart the New York City subway bombing plot.

“Simply put, the use of this authority has helped save lives,” Mr. Bossert wrote.
Section 702 allows intelligence agencies to collect vast amounts of information from foreign sources located outside the U.S. as part of antiterrorism investigations. Communications with Americans can, however, be snared.

The section is slated to expire at the end of this year, and security hawks and civil liberties advocates are now battling over whether to extend it.

Extended it shall be! “Trust us, we’re from the government.”

Undoubtedly the program may have saved some lives. Others seem to have fallen between the cracks. There was that …. Fourth …. something? No mind.

I cannot put my finger on it but I feel it, sense it. Actually, there’s nothing but wrong with this matter – from end to end.

Reality “Being White is Terrorism” Winner (Real Name) is charged in the Southern District of Georgia with leaking a classified NSA report on Russian election manipulation. Something everything smells in this case.

th

“What, me leak???”

By the way, this is the face of the NSA (Ft. Gordon and beyond) – and Gen. Y – and crossfit…

Nothing I’ve read makes any sense (especially the “Murican comments here and there). This is either a false flag, a ruse, a diversion, or else the most pitiful spying/whistle-blowing case I’ve ever heard of.

Thanking God I’m not on the Federal Defender appointment short list anymore. Not buying anything, here. And not looking much further into it.

Readers, beware.

More Thoughts on London and May

Vox Day commented on Theresa May’s comments about last night’s attack: (My reactions in red);

While it beats the usual “diversity is stronger than hate” ritual, the UK Prime Minister’s new anti-terrorism program falls well short of one with any chance of success:

‘We cannot and must not pretend things can continue as they are. Things need to change and they need to change in four important ways.’

Defeating the extreme Islamist ideology to make them understand ‘pluralistic British values’ are superior

Ending the ‘safe space’ online for the plotting of terror attacks

Continuing military action against ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria

Tougher prison sentences at home for terrorist offences

First, the problem is not “the extreme Islamist ideology”, the problem is Islam. Period. The West will continue to suffer these attacks so long as Muslims are permitted to reside in the West. There is a reason why Western nations periodically expelled troublesome minorities, and they will have to do so again if they prefer peaceful societies to diverse ones. The West will either embrace Reconquista 2.0 or it will cease to exist.

Amen. The pot itself is now melting.

Second, pluralistic British values are not only not superior, they are not even coherent. “Pluralistic values” is a self-contradiction.

Yes. The “native” values never differed that much at all, as to nearly seem identical to the non-British, from Nottingham to Wales to Scotland. E Pluribus Unum. Multi de Bellum.

Third, the problem is not safe spaces online, but the safe spaces in the West. It’s very difficult to commit an attack in London or Manchester if you reside in Libya and your travel is banned. Not so tough if you reside in Bradford.

I thought May’s attack on socials was as stupid as Kathy Griffin’s attack on “old white men.” It’s not Farcebook and the Twits, Mrs. May; it’s you and your policies.

Fourth, fighting them there instead of here hasn’t worked since 2001. It’s not going to work in 2017 either. Military action against Islam is needed in the UK, Europe, and the USA, not in Iraq and Syria.

As I noted last night, as always, Iraq and Syria (et al) do not matter. Bombing there does nothing except create more “refugees.”

Fifth, imprisoning terrorists has historically proven counterproductive everywhere from Egypt to Germany. It usually leads to more terrorist attacks and hostage-taking. Even simple deportation is probably preferable. And the prospect of prison is not likely to dissuade suicide bombers. Only severe reprisals will suffice to do that.

The leaders of the West are still shirking their duties. They’re trying to win a war without fighting it. That is why new leadership is required. And that is why the God-Emperor should now declare martial law and imprison the judges who are illegally attempting to tie his hands.

A slight disagreement, here. The “leaders” aren’t just shirking responsibilities – they are actively adding to the problem. Trump has ancient precedent to round up dissenters, to include judges and members of Congress, but he will not do it. He won’t even stop the enemy from Taqiya-ing in the street in front of his home. The same goes for May. Instead I foresee some more pointless missile strikes in the near future in the usual pointless places.

***

On Farcebook I’ve seen people echoing Trump’s sentiment that the courts need to “give us back our rights.” That’s not going to happen and it shouldn’t be expected or welcomed – completely the wrong mindset. The Constitution is dead and gone and the rules you whoop to follow are all rigged against you.

They’re also wondering how much worse this all has to get before the masses look up from the idiot boxes. I would say “much worse” but I just have no real idea; TeeVee is a powerful drug.

Finally, if Theresa May is still in denial, some Britons are not. This morning I received excellent ideas from the UK on what to do. “Want would Winston do?” More on that later.

This was SOP in the Soviet Union and anywhere communists come to power. While the people of Venezuela starve and eat their pets the well do to and the politically connected dine on lobster and fly private. The people begin to notice.

CARACAS, June 2 (Reuters) – One is shown blowing a kiss from a private jet. Another is seen posing in front of a store of luxury jeweler Cartier in China. Others grin as they tuck into a plate of lobster or a massive birthday cake.

Venezuelan activists are increasingly posting details of locations and lifestyles of leftist officials and their families, depicting them as thriving off corruption while the population struggles to eat in a devastating economic crisis.

The social media blitzes, targeting officials and their business partners, relatives and even lovers, are another weapon in a wave of huge protests against President Nicolas Maduro’s government that began in April. Protesters are seeking early presidential elections, freedom for jailed activists, and humanitarian aid to alleviate chronic food and medicine shortages.

One Twitter account published photos purportedly showing the wife of Vice President Tareck El Aissami enjoying champagne and lounging on a pristine beach with her sisters. In another case, an alleged lover of a powerful Socialist Party official is shown on trips to the Middle East.

It is always like this. “Let them eat rats…” It’s another double standard. You pay for it. Then you pay for it again. Then you eat Fido.

A year ago I reported just how bad things in Venezuela were getting. Bad, yes, but then just the tip of the iceberg.

Today I wrote a cautionary column for Freedom Prepper about the continuing slide of the South American nation. Please give it a read regardless of whether or not you know about or care about the crisis. Odds are you don’t (know) because of the near black-out by the American media.

Through the horrible lense of Venezuela we are witnessing the complete collapse of an entire society. This was brought about by many factors – chief among them Communism (Socialism). And it can all happen anywhere to any people – even Americans. Please learn and prepare.

I’ve written some shorts and posted some links about the crisis this year. Some few of these have proven extremely popular. If I have time, I would like to write out some fully timeline of the collapse with detailed analysis. (No promise on that).

HERE ARE BUT A FEW OF THE PROBLEMS CITIZENS ARE FACING IN THE STRICKEN NATION:

High unemployment;
No money;
Price and monetary inflation;
Food shortages;
Starvation – the average person has lost nearly 20 pounds already (some have died, more will);
People are eating rats and pets to survive;
The grocery stores are empty and closing;
Martial law;
Daily riots and ultraviolent crime;
Complete desperation;
Schools are closed;
Power is out;
Water is interrupted; and
On and on and on…

Even after I published that, Drudge reported things keep getting worse, more desperate:

nimbus-image-1496365281344

Drudge Report.

What’s happening there is terrible. For us, potentially more terrible, is the specter that this could happen in the U.S. – or anywhere.

The media did rave over Venezuela just a few years ago. The former president made scathing, hilarious, and partially (mostly?) true remarks about G.W. Bush at the U.N. The media covered that. Then the former leader sent tankers of free home heating oil to New England during a cold winter – a gesture for America’s poor. That was in part a publicity stunt. The media picked up on it.

It is strange they are so uninterested now that the nation has descended into utter chaos. Small wonder. As I noted last year, Venezuela is was a statist’s paradise, home to so many thoughtful, progressive, socialist and communist programs and ideals. Now, it seems, the chickens have come home to roost. Now the people eat rats or starve while dodging bullets in the dark.

The same people who told you life in the South American paradise was so great, then, are the same people telling you America and the West need to adopt the same systems now. It’s not that they don’t learn – they do. They just do not care. You should.

Good Cop, Bad Citizen, Crazed Law

America, law, police, police state, The People, tyranny

I noticed two things this morning.

One was that WordPress assigned one of my previous Police State articles as a related companion to last night’s terrorism post. Two years ago I was concerned about the militarization of the domestic police in the U.S. Things have gotten only a little worse since then.

Second, was a new, somewhat-related column out there…

Now, as Eric Peters recounts, one Republican lawmaker would have the militarized police nearly immune from any consequences of their illegal activities towards We, the People.

Naturally, the solution to the problem of police abusing their authority is to hold them less accountable when they do exactly that.

Leave it to “law and order” Republicans such as Texas Sen. John Cornyn and Rep. Ted Poe to evolve such logic. They have put forth the Black and Blue – whoops, Back the Blue – act (see here) which would make it harder to sue run-amok law enforcers in civil court to recover damages resulting from actions undeniably illegal – while at the same time imposing more severe penalties on Mundanes who affront the holy person of a law enforcer than those imposed on Mundanes who do exactly the same thing.

Look for this law to pass. Republicrats always want to be seen as “tough.” Trump will go right along to show support for “the brave men and women in uniform.” Democraps really don’t care.

Some federal judge may show a little concern, maybe five years from now; he might undue the extra (double jeopardy) excessive self-defense penalties against victimized citizens. Or he may not. The immunity from civil prosecution will stand. One wonders (if one is so inclined) if this prohibition includes 1983 (federal civil rights) actions – frequently the only recourse in the event of police brutality.

In Old England (and in the Colonies and the early Republic) there was a common law doctrine that a person (and witnesses) had a right and even an obligation to forcibly resist illegal police activity. Ancient history. Today it is virtually impossible to hold a wayward officer accountable. Soon it may be completely impossible.

Most officers I have ever known or encountered are/were decent and honest. That’s good because the bad ones are about to get more than a pass. It will be more like a rubber stamp of approval. Progress and such.
