Reviewing the New Cigar Warning Labels (With Added Warning)

BS, cigars, FDA, government, logic, regulation, science, stupidity

The gullible American people and their Chicken Little politicritters love a good epidemic. One woman gets Zika? Epidemic. Someone run over by a texting driver? Epidemic. Banksters and pols loot 99% of the value out of the Dollar while squashing civil liberties? Epid … oops, nevermind that one…

I just read about the next great epidemic – Benzos! Valium reminds some doctor a lot of the opioid crisis! Crisis. Epidemic. Same thing. We’ll need a new law and some more regs! Maybe the FDA can get around to that once they cure another great epidemic – pregnant women smoking cigars…

Come August 10th, retail cigars (to include individual units) must be accompanied by one of the following six warning labels: herein, my review:

WARNING: Cigar smoking can cause cancers of the mouth and throat, even if you do not inhale.

A lie. See explanation below.

WARNING: Cigar smoking can cause lung cancer and heart disease.

A lie. See immediately below.

WARNING: Cigars are not a safe alternative to cigarettes.

Part lie, part category error. Cigars are safe (FDA studies say so). However, they’re not an alternative to cigarettes, at all, with next to nothing in common except the burning aspect. Cigarettes are paper wrapped chemicals, tar, and, maybe, a little cheap tobacco. Cigars are pure, 100%, natural, organic, Earth-friendly, environmentally responsible tobacco from the best fields. Not just a lie, an eco-lie (very bad).

WARNING: Tobacco smoke increases the risk of lung cancer and heart disease, even in nonsmokers.

Yet another lie.

WARNING: Cigar use while pregnant can harm you and your baby.
or
SURGEON GENERAL WARNING: Tobacco Use Increases the Risk of Infertility, Stillbirth and Low Birth Weight.*

Now they involve the poor Surgeon General. This one is either a lie OR another false conflation. Again, it’s cigars, not cigarettes. And, women constitute something like 0.5% of all cigar smokers. Pregnant women are around, I’m guessing here, 0.000000%. Totally irrelevant and utterly stupid. I challenge the FDA to present one single case, ever, of any baby negatively affected by cigars. Scratch that. I challenge the FDA to pack up New Hampshire Avenue and just get the hell out of America and out our lives. I say they can’t do it. Let ’em prove me wrong!

WARNING: This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.

Believe it, or not, this one is not a complete lie. Rather, it’s a false syllogism of sorts, in reverse, kind of. Like this:

Major premise: Nicotine is bad.

Minor premise: Cigars contain nicotine.

Conclusion: Warrants a warning.

Again, again, again … cigars differ in many ways from cigarettes. Premium cigar makers do not add additional nicotine (or anything else) to the wrappers, binders, or fillers that constitute that lovely leafy goodness. Said leaf by itself does, in fact, contain a little nicotine. But, so do: tea leaves, eggplants, potatoes, peppers, cauliflower, and tomatoes.

Do these eggplant-IQ’d busybodies go around warning mums to be about the dangers of real eggplants? Could be; it’s a big CFR… Yet another government, elsewhere – the Royal Society for Public Health – just determined that scary, addictive nicotine is “no more dangerous than the caffeine in a cup of coffee.”

I get it, I get it. Warning labels on coffee come next…

With all these warnings floating around, I thought I might add one that isn’t based on complete BS. This:

****

GOVERNMENT WARNING!

Government is the most dangerous non-natural thing in existence, possibly more destructive than a gamma-ray burst. Government is not a safe alternative to freedom.

-or-

Take your labels and shove ’em.

******

Feel free to post that by the cash register.

“Russia, Russia, Russia” – From TPC

First, they “lost” Russia. December 26, 1991, the day the Soviet Empire dissolved, is their 9/11 or Pearl Harbor. Much hope had they placed in the ways of Lenin and Trotsky. The ramifications of subtle changes made by Stalin were only realized too late. Then, in the blink of an eye, their idyllic model was gone. For a while, they went into mourning. Now they are vengeful, feeling betrayed by Russia’s leaders and by her citizens.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the events that kicked off the most murderous regimes in human history.

YEKATERINBURG, Russia — Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill led some 100,000 people in a nighttime procession Tuesday to mark 100 years since the Bolsheviks murdered tsar Nicholas II and his family, amid a simmering conflict between the state and the Church over their remains.

The procession began in the early hours of Tuesday from the murder site in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg to a monastery commemorating the slain tsar, his German-born wife and five children, regional authorities said.

100,000 processors, 100 years, 100 Million+ murders.

This date is special to the globalist cabal, as is Dec. 26, 1991; the former warmer to their black hearts, the latter not so much. I cover that and the associated consternation in this week’s TPC bit (soon).

gmanet.

Note: these good Russian people were commemorating the horror and sorrow of the crimes; the new Bolsheviks would have a true re-enactment.

Shocking, yet perhaps clarifying news out of Washington:

A 29-year-old Russian woman living in Washington, D.C., has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of the Russian government while developing ties with American citizens and infiltrating political groups, the U.S. Justice Department said on Monday.

Maria Butina, who studied at American University in Washington and is a founder of the pro-gun Russian advocacy group Right to Bear Arms, was arrested on Sunday and accused of operating at the direction of a high-level official who worked for the Russian Central Bank and was recently sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, the Justice Department said.

…

The Justice Department said in its complaint that Butina worked with two unnamed U.S. citizens and the Russian official to try to influence American politics and infiltrate a pro-gun rights organisation.

The complaint did not name the group, however photos on her Facebook page showed that she attended events sponsored by the National Rifle Association. An NRA spokesman did not reply to requests for comment.

So: A Russian spy woman tried to infiltrate the NRA. Trump spoke at an NRA convention previously. Therefore, Trump colluded with the NRA to overthrow Russia!

Apologies to Socrates…

Russia, TPC, weekend

Not taking the whole thing off … entirely. There’s this:

Wednesday’s TPC column will concern the “Russia, Russia, Russia” mania and what’s really behind it. This being based on some thought and a recent request of sorts. For now, here’s the recent (nonsensical) indictment of 12 Russian intel officers – which will go precisely nowhere.

USA v. Da Hackers Russian

More, about 1,000 words worth, on Wednesday.

And, that is a wrap for the weekend. Thanks for the visit!

…to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and kill it…

Government is even a threat to life on other planets.

A NASA rover has recently discovered organic material that could confirm proof of life on Mars, but it’s a discovery that may not necessarily be new.

In a study published last month in the journal Science, NASA reported that its Curiosity rover had discovered complex organic molecules on the Red Planet that may provide proof that “the planet could have supported ancient life.”

On Tuesday, New Science noted that it is likely one or both of NASA’s twin Viking landers came across the very same evidence years ago. Unfortunately, the rovers apparently burned up the evidence and it took another 40 years before more evidence was found.

If you’ve ever worried about the possibility of dangerous aliens coming here and attacking, don’t. They are Us. Like War of the Worlds, in reverse.

Fly The Friendly Rails?

The concept of a “flying train” is floated in France.

I like this (yes, Perrin likes some tech) because it’s an interesting multi-use and it could possibly prevent crash fatalities. The tube will likely be made from light composite. In the event of a certain crash, the tube fuselage could detach from the wing rig and parachute down safely. That’s my idea; don’t necessarily look for it.

Interesting.

Now Homegrown is Foreign

Or, maybe it really is homegrown. If everyone everywhere is an American, then the proposition of America must extend to the four corners. Hmm. Regardless, we’re getting more activity:

Jihadist threats from homegrown terrorists in America continue to increase each month, with at least nine foreign born individuals living in the United States arrested or convicted in June of attempting to launch attacks on behalf of ISIS and other global terrorist organizations, according to newly released information by Congress.

“Cases of homegrown Islamist extremism in the U.S. continue to be an issue of concern,” according to the House Homeland Security Committee’s monthly report of terrorism in America, which has been tracking an increase in homegrown jihadists for some time. “Since 2013, there have been 154 homegrown jihadist cases in the United States” from at least 30 different states.

The information highlights the ongoing threat posed by rogue jihadists influenced by international terror groups, but not necessarily directly tied to them, which makes these would-be attackers more difficult to track for federal authorities.

Homegrown foreign-born individuals. See the confusion?

Not to worry; we’re assured all of this is offset by a solid boost to the GDP.

Sadly, there will be no TPC article this week. This may have to stand in.

2033, America, Boston, decline, democracy, invasion, voting

I love Boston. I really do. The Union Oyster House. Sam Adams. Looking a Red Sox fan in the face and saying, “It’s just a game.” Hitting I-93 North as hard and fast as possible. There’s all that history.

Yet, sometimes I pause to wonder about the future. Now is one of those times. Boston City Council President Andrea Campbell proposes giving non-citizens the right to vote in City elections:

Non-U.S. citizens living in the country legally may one day be allowed to vote in Boston elections.

The City Council is holding a hearing Tuesday on the idea at the request of Council President Andrea Campbell. The council is considering ways to make city elections more inclusive, including allowing immigrants with legal status in the country the right to vote in municipal races.

I’m a little upset about this “legal status” requirement, honestly. And why do they have to live in the country? Are not all 7 Billion people on the planet Americans? Bostonians? It’s not very inclusive to deny them their voices. I’m sure there’s a real new American, in Haiti or Uruguay or somewhere, just itching to write in Vladamir Putin or Theresa May as a replacement for Andrea Campbell. Is this not just?

Keep an eye on this. And look for it to spread regardless of how they handle it in Bean Town.

2033.

I’ve lately noticed the following annoying popup on MY site:

Screenshot 2018-07-09 at 11.17.51 AM

It appears even when I’m in WP-edit mode. So, I assume it’s there for all of you as well.

This is strictly a WordPress affair and not mine. Their Policies.

Some of that is technical and some of it is now technically/legally required – especially concerning the new EU regs. I don’t use deliberately cookies (I understand some are in the background for operations) and I wouldn’t know how even if I wanted to. My policy on the EU is clear: it is evil; abolish it immediately.

There. Now, enjoy real cookies:*
