While you shuffled around in your Halloween costume, foraging for toilet paper and trying to stay saaaaaafe, the following was going on:

Orange Man is advised by cartoon character idiots (spacesuits for the sheep!);

In a 100-man Senate, 6 is unanimous. Now, this is the second bailout bill. The one from a few weeks ago just wasn’t enough even though it was the most expensive single-ticket insanity in history. (And, they are already putting the finishing touches on yet another package, likely to be followed by another, then another, etc.). This 6-man, unanimous, quick-n-easy $483 Billion spree amounts to more than the entire federal budget for 1978 ($458 Bn).

An alternate way to spell “U-S-A” is “D-E-A-D.” I look forward to the Fourth of July – provided the country is even moderately open by then – and all the platitudes and songs about freedom and so forth. Okay, for now, everyone stay saaaaaaafe! We’re all in this, like it or not, together. We can beat the invisible enemy, and history, and reality, and even gravity.

Alison Morris lets it slip.

MSNBC’s Sunday anchor Alison Morris made easily the worst reporting gaffe in 2020.

While interviewing sports journalists about the tragic and untimely death of Kobe Bryant, Morris somehow mixed up the “Los Angeles Lakers” with the “Los Angeles N*ggers.”

It’s almost too hard to believe, but it happened.

Not hard to believe at all. But hey, I suppose NBC-Universal can just get that Florida judge to explain that this also is no big deal, right? Y’all keep supporting the MSM.

PS: I didn’t know or follow Kobe, but I understand he was a helluva athlete and competitor. RIP.

Post 3,001 … back on the sad state of world politics. But, this is a story about the stories. There’s a wide gulf of a difference between reporting around the world.

In the US, Drudge, CNN, etc. lamented the sad spectacle of the latest Democratic “debate.” Yeah, TrumpSlide. Elsewhere, the same sources provided lackluster commentary (OH WOW! WHAT?) on the Putin/Medvedev shakeup (again) in Russia. The dynamic duo certainly plots something. What? Other sources speculate in various ways.

RT has a humorous, it’ll-be-okay approach.

The Asia Times sees something familiar – a ploy to keep power for life.

Which is right? Who knows. The point is to get off the standard US right-left charade and make independent assessments. There, that wasn’t so painful, now was it?

PCR presents a German journalist who blew the whistle on the intel-controlled media.

In a recent interview with USA Watchdog — I described Western journalists as prostitutes who whore for a living.

One of them who did so—Udo Ulfkotte—describes what it is like. For the naive and insouciant Western people who need to hear the truth from the horse’s mouth, here is a translation of one of Udo Ulfkotte’s lectures on the subject.

Kopp in Germany published Ulfkotte’s book, Gekaufte Journalisten (Bought Journalism) several years ago. It was a best seller. An English language edition was authorized, but its publication was blocked by intelligence services. You can get an idea of the book from the lecture.

Freedom Prepper rides again!

Hello, Freedom Prepper friends! Long time, no post here. It’s good to be back, except that these are very sad circumstances. Over the weekend, just like many of you, Scott and I discussed the tragic events from El Paso and Dayton. As of my last checking, on the morning that I wrote this up, twenty-nine people are dead and God knows how many are wounded. Terrible. At FP, we’re two things: we’re most strongly pro-Second Amendment, and we’re also anti unlawful violence. As are you, dear readers. We’re also into the truth about these matters.

And, I have to say at this point, that the truth is missing (or certainly appears to be missing) from both of these shooting stories. There’s no doubt it happened and that innocent people were killed. But, there’s something behind it. Something is off. Badly off – like poor scripting. As with most of these shootings, there remain various inconsistencies and unanswered questions. With the Dayton story, I have strong reason to doubt the official narrative. If fact, I almost always doubt the official version of most stories, as told by the government and the media. You should too. But, today, we’re here to discuss the shooting numbers only.

Scott posed the following to me on Sunday, the Fourth: “Anyway they are reporting that [Dayton] is the 250th mass shooting in the US, would you be interested in writing an article about that statistic, spelling out the truths from the non-truths, to see what the real number is versus the media driven number?”

Yes, of course, I would! But, again, I’m only working with the reported stats. I just finished a column for another publication about some ridiculous improbabilities with the Dayton shooter. All of those aside, was he the 250th mass shooter in America in 2019? The answer is the old lawyer’s favorite: “It depends.”

Maybe, at least once. I’ve been recruited to write up an explanation for FP of where all these mass shooting numbers come from. I’ve also added a short bit on the same subject to the week’s TPC column. Those, here, later.

For now, the Dayton, Ohio shooter was (yet another) satanist/atheist wacko. Look for the MSM to be ALL over that. Not. I might even do a new YT vid on that – to get all my atheist “friends” worked up. The last Texas atheist shooter had them out in droves – only video of mine ever voted down.

Satanists and atheists: send them back!

Part of his pitch – the primary overhand lob – was securing America’s porous border with the Estados Unidos Mexicanos. He said something about a wall or bollards or some traffic cones. A TPC Salute of All-American Small Town Newspapers

It occurred to me that mine is an odd position at TPC – the “national affairs” columnist of a decidedly local publication. Da enlightens the esoteric South with charm and wit. Sweetheart Bess writes from the heart tales to warm any heart. Kayla puts the Cool in Chronicles (fits, trust me), fun with every single post. Marshall may be the most dedicated defender of the traditional local scene I’ve ever known. Then there’s me … I bring the battleaxe to the bonfire.

 

I have to. It’s the job. And, it’s me. The rest of the staff see Newton County as home. I see it as 279 of the neatest square miles out of the 3.1 million between Mexico and Canada. There’s a lot of horror out there which, unchecked, can and will creep in the the glorious Georgia Piedmont. Hence, the usual topics.
But, not today. Today is all local. Well, local from multiple locales to keep it “national” in nature. Herein, I proudly present three of my favorite small town sources for news of the doin’s of small town life in the good old U.S. of A. Regardless of geography, one will find great similarity; three towns outside Georgia look and feel a lot like Covington.
My original hometown is inhabited by some 25,000 of the oddest, yet most endearing people in America. Over the past 40 years, the city has transformed from “Stark-Patch,” dead end of the SEC, to “Stark-Vegas,” a capital of college cool. I remember when the new Jitney Jungle opened, next to Harco and behind Danver’s (all gone, now, BTW).
