Grades, you know, used to measure a student’s understanding of the material. No longer.

Instead of grading a student based on an average of quizzes, homework assignments and tests, grades will be given depending on how well they understand the material.

The San Diego Unified School District is changing the way students are graded after it was revealed minorities get worse grades compared to white students.

The board approved the new grading policy last week. It’s something it has discussed for years, but following George Floyd’s murder, it revisited the issue during a workshop in July.

“If we want to be an anti-racist school district, we’ve got to confront those issues,” said Board Vice President Richard Barrera.

Flim star Big Floyd’s “murder” is a great place to discredit the idiots behind this terminal decline in what already amounts to utterly debased education. This, of course, from a district that recently accepted an award from a hate organization founded to honor the memory of a child murderer (not Big Floyd’s “murder,” a real one).

While “Bell Curve” is a great response to this nonsense, there’s really no point. There’s no place for hate of our children, thus no place for them in these failed institutions. Homeschool.

Uh, brief commentary about private Christian schools tomorrow.

The “Schools” Have Formulas

The more one probes the school, the more chaotic and idiotic the scene becomes – by design.

Diversianity is the new religion of public education, replacing God with satan’s little numbers game. Since 1965, the war has raged, changing the character of the country and the classrooms. And the schools have a formula for defining exactly what they mean by this lunacy:

The analysis comes amid mounting pressure to integrate New York City’s public schools, including almost weekly student protests demanding districtwide action. New York City is one of the most segregated school districts in the country, with only 28 percent of schools in the city considered diverse, widely defined as no one group exceeding 50 percent and no two groups exceeding 80 percent. City schools on the whole are 41 percent Latino, 26 percent black, 16 percent Asian and 15 percent white.

They’ve gone a little too far in NYC. Oops! Suddenly, they have too few White students, though the concern is that too many of the too few still group together in defiance of the formula.

None of this bullshit has anything to do with helping anyone learn anything unless it’s the importance of homeschooling. Of course, they have formulas to literally prevent that: I lost the link, but there’s an openly-stated plan to reduce literacy in the public schools. Seriously. They keep tinkering with the number of classes – four, five, whatever – but they do classify how well children (and adults) read. A ridiculous number cannot. The goal is to have everyone (EVERYONE) read at the second, or “Basic” level. That’s one step below “proficient.” It’s as Carlin said: people just smart enough to do the paperwork, but dumb enough to passively accept the system.

One would assume that the planners themselves read on the border of proficient and advanced and are content to allow some advanced readers to excel past level two. (There’s no way to stop the smart kids and the cretins assume the high-achievers will someday join the planner class anyway).

This, all of it, isn’t just bad news for writers. It’s a warning bell for all civilized society. It’s ringing loudly and constantly. Do you hear it?

Full Reverse! Ed-berg Dead Ahead!

It’s turned into an education weekend at the old blog.

The failure and pending (or, in-progress) collapse of the “schools” becomes apparent to even more people.

“School finances are in full reverse mode. Whispered in the hallways before every school committee and in every town council chamber is the awesome reality that sales tax and property tax collections are down 25 – 30 percent. The fear is palpable…. It seems to me that Public Ed as we currently know it will be history in about four years. It is a big edifice. It will take a few years to fully implode, but not a decade. There’s no money left to keep it going as it is.”

Let four years come and go unhindered! We should pay to keep it from operating as it is, or was. Read the whole thing – from the insecticide factories to the declining colleges. It’s real and it’s really happening – now.

The solution is, again, homeschooling and/or small neighborhood schooling. Lately, I’ve been taken with the concept of unschooling, which was probably what I needed so many years ago. Would that work for everyone? No. But, the beautiful thing is that we don’t need, and in fact, cannot tolerate any more one-size-fits-none bullshit. All of the details can be ironed out and easier than most imagine.

Over this strange summer, multiple people have suggested that I found a school. It’s funny but I first floated the same idea to some Fed-Soc types back in 2001, in the basement of the Supreme Court of all places. As with the other big news of that year, nineteen years have passed and … nothing. I have looked into the idea. The closest I’ve come to action is a fictional character doing the work. I am not Tom Ironsides. But, I’m still interested.

Dr. I. always envisioned the necessity of an online component, even for a dedicated base school of unrivaled excellence. I think the home, more specifically the UN-schooling way, it the future (as it was the past). My vision of a remote “umbrella” school would be to publish the suggested direction in which parents should initially steer their young students, then getting out of the way, coupled with advisement as needed and a few other minor services. Umbrellas usually act to keep the state at bay. And, “we” could always offer a more intensive or directed courseload for those seeking computer-age direct instruction at a distance.

This scheme, along with multiple projects, one super project, and about six books, I’m slowly working on. If you have an existing or start-up idea on the same lines and you can tolerate a mildly cantankerous iconoclast, then let me know. Otherwise, please stand by: I might lean on some of you for capital. (And I know how helpful you’ve been on that front before…).

A new column is coming at the end of the new week. Stay tuned.

Or, where it should be in almost all cases.

The “schools” are slowly, painfully coming back into session, with masks and fear in abundance. In the middle of August, I noted a poll that showed that 82% of American parents were afraid of sending the kids back to school and that 25% would not do so. It may be a little early to see how those positions play out in full, but we do have a new poll with some mixed results.

Now, parents report to Gallup that 89% of the kiddies will be in some form of school or another. Yes, something happened to the concerns of 82% and the resolve of 25%. Nuances: public “school,” private school, and parochial school attendance is down this year. Charter school (a concept I’ve never really understood) enrollment is up. The great news is that homeschooling has allegedly doubled!!! It’s up to ten percent of all children from five last year.

The government’s indoctrination, molestation prisons are dead. The privates are, by and large, a mixed bag. Home is where the heart, the results, and the hope is. And, homeschools are not the second-largest block in the ed demographics game. If this trend holds, then next year home education will account for more students than all other public alternatives combined.

We’ll borrow a label and call these home students the talented tenth of the future!

I’m making my way through Kerry McDonald’s UNSCHOOLED (2019), reading it in conjunction with an older book which features a similar assessment of the failed public “schools.” I’ve read about unschooling before, though not in the detail McDonald goes into. It’s excellent and I recommend it only three chapters in.

The concept is like the Sudbury School model, but at home – self-directed learning. It’s one of those things that is so easy and yet so counter to what we’ve all been lied to about that it’s hard to fathom that it works. But it most assuredly does. More soon.

Perhaps the best “Government School =” article yet!

The greatest benefit of the CoronaHoax is the full exposure of the hoax and failure of public education.

The shutdown of schools across America, both public and private, has thrown the lives of parents into an upside-down struggle. And now, in the name of safety, the Centers for Disease Control are nearly guaranteeing the destruction of public schools in the United States.

They don’t mean to, of course. After all, public schools are the government-run and government-approved schools. But right now, every single parent across America is homeschooling. We are all getting a look at the shortcomings of curriculum, bureaucracy, and the people involved. While some teachers have risen to the occasion and tried their absolute hardest to attend to the educational and mental well-being of their students, there are some teachers who are just mailing it in. And there are kids and families that are mailing it in as well. The situation, as it stands right now, is not a sustainable one.

States and school districts, now that most have been shut down for the remainder of this school year, are frantically trying to assess how the next school year will look in an age of “social distancing” and mask wearing. And then the CDC just released guidelines on school reopening.

The CDC Guidelines – sure to drive the last nail in. We should push the DOE to “codify” them through the CFR so as to be binding on the local schools.

To all the parents seeking private homeschool teachers or tutors – a massive growth industry – please dispense with the “certification” requirements. Learn the minimum your state requires (likely not much) and just do that. Adding the credentialism back in adds the risk of cross-contamination. This is the time to break from the whole pathetic system. See my Ed Page for more ideas.

Homeschool Rising!

When 100% may be forced to homeschool, like it or not, at least 40% are leaning that way to begin with.

Of the 626 parents who responded, 40.8 percent said they were “more likely” to do so, while 31.1 percent replied they were “less likely.”

With political party as a factor, 45.7 percent of parents who said they would be “more likely” to homeschool identified as Democrat, while 42.3 percent identified as Republican.

Among those parents who said they were “more likely” to homeschool, 36.3 percent were white, 50.4 percent were black, 38.2 percent were Hispanic, and 53.8 percent were Asian.

Again, this may be the best gift yet from the hoax. Homeschool or … homeschool!

Goodbye, Public Schools?

Maybe the best thing that has come out of the Corona hoax is the closure of the government’s “schools.” They’re done for the 2019-2020 year and it’s possible that they might not return this fall. Good riddance.

Allegedly, the kiddos are “learning” remotely. I guarantee that 90% of them haven’t even logged in since they left the prison halls a few weeks ago. And the prisons are beginning to drop all of their precious tests, now existing only to deliver lunches and host neighborhood parades.

Georgia school officials took steps Thursday to scrap final exams and relax a wide range of other accountability rules for the state’s nearly two million public-school students who have been out of class since last week due to the impacts of coronavirus.

I realize this may hamper my efforts to ridicule low scores for this year, but hopefully, this is the end of the “schools” so that will no longer be necessary.

For the other ten percent, and parents, you are essentially homeschooling. You might as well make that permanent. Kara Stiff offers some words of encouragement to that end.

My heart goes out to all the parents who were never planning to homeschool, but nevertheless find themselves teaching their children at home today. I chose this beautiful, crazy life, and I completely understand why some people wouldn’t choose it. But here we are. We have to do what we have to do. You don’t want them to fall behind. You don’t want to lose your mind.

Believe it or not, it’s a golden opportunity.

Read the whole thing, but remember that it is almost impossible to fall behind what the inmates have left. Take advantage. After their parades, and if there is any money left in the coming years, maybe some of the good teachers could involve themselves in true education.

Based on the WSJ headline, I was going to say something like “watch these students thrive.” Kind of like the city that took everyone off social security and saw a surge in retirement savings. Anyway, this schooling issue is in Hong Kong. They’d have phenomenal results regardless of what they did.

Concerns about coronavirus have led to a two-month school closure for the city’s 800,000 students, prompting a crash course in digital learning.

Instead of calling off lessons, many schools expect students to keep up their work online, sending them assignments to complete and submit for grading. Six-year-olds are writing nonfiction books and toddlers are having live video interactions with nursery-school teachers.

The academic experiment has children and their parents, many of whom also have to work at home because their offices are closed, crammed into the same space. It’s a potential harbinger of what might face the U.S. if the virus continues to spread.

Always look for outside examples. Just don’t expect US kids to write books, or even read many. It will be interesting if the HL schools discover this approach works better and switch to it permanently.

California’s FAIR (GAME) Act Targets Children

This is fitting for the Amerikan version of Sodom and Gomorrah. Another great reason to homeschool.

California’s FAIR Education Act, passed in 2011, mandates that school textbooks and curricula be more inclusive of historically underrepresented communities, including those with disabilities, from various religious backgrounds, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The district’s chosen curriculum, Studies Weekly, complies with the FAIR Education Act — also referred to as the LGBT History Bill. The bill, SB 48, is often met with debate when implemented at the school district level.

The district spent a year piloting several units of the the new curriculum, introducing it to 35 teachers in the majority of the district’s schools, said deputy superintendent Kathleen Pon.

“All students should be able to see a role model in their textbook, and say, ‘A person like me did something great, and I can do something great too,’” said Whitney High School student Michael Whiteside.

But nearly 1,000 Rocklin residents signed a petition asking the district to delay the decision to adopt a new curriculum, because they said elementary students were too young to understand sexual orientation.

There’s a reason these creatures want open access to your children; they’re not even hiding it anymore. Make like Lot and leave.
