“Significant Religious Change”

The State (Columbia) does a great job looking into the predictable decline of the Church in South Carolina, the South, and the West:

FAITH BY NUMBERS

The South is slowly catching up to national and European trends shifting toward what many call a “post-Christian” culture — that is, a society with characteristics no longer dominantly rooted in Christianity.

Studies and surveys have documented the decline of self-identified Christians and the rise of “nones,” or the religiously unaffiliated, across the United States for years.

The Pew Research Center describes the United States as in the midst of “significant religious change. ”The share of Americans who identify with Christianity is declining, while those who say they have no religion is growing rapidly.

This isn’t new but it is still a little surprising in the Bible Belt. The Southern Baptist numbers are interesting, if alarming: adding 11 churches while shedding 78,516 members… This partially illustrates one of the problems with Protestantism: when does the schism stop? At this rate, in a few years, SC might only have 50,000 Southern Baptists, each attending his own, individual church…

This is the result of decades of decline, confusion, and degeneracy in society generally and in the parishes. In a time and place where literally anything goes (unless it makes sense), people look for refuge from the Church. Increasingly what they find is more anything goes, worldly conformity, postmodernism, tattoos, taboos, rock n’ roll services, Churchianty, cotton candy theology, and, in many cases, outright evil. It’s not a recipe for success.

The State is correct; it is starting to look like Post Christian America. This is change we don’t need.

We are assured long-term survival though it may be a little painful.

The FDA is Evil

Forget typing those CFR comments. It won’t help. There’s no reasoning with this agency about cigars or anything else. They are literally out for innocent blood:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration signed a new contract on July 25 to acquire “fresh” human fetal tissue to transplant into “humanized mice” so that these mice will have a functioning “human immune system,” according to information published by the FDA and the General Services Administration.

“The objective is to acquire Tissue for Humanized Mice,” said a June 13 FDA “presolicitation notice” for the contract.

“Fresh human tissues are required,” said the notice, “for implantation into severely immune-compromised mice to create chimeric animals that have a human immune system.”

According to GSA’s federal contract database, Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR), a non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area, was awarded this $15,900 contract, which will run through July 25, 2019.

Fetal tissue used in research is obtained from elective abortions,” says the Congressional Research Service.

In 2016, Harvard University provided the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives with a background paper explaining that mice with human immune systems “are engineered to this condition only by means of the use of human fetal material” and that this material can only come from aborted babies not from miscarriages.

I guess that’s why they included the following new bullshit warning for premium cigars:

WARNING: Cigar use while pregnant can harm you and your baby.
or
SURGEON GENERAL WARNING: Tobacco Use Increases the Risk of Infertility, Stillbirth and Low Birth Weight.

Now I understand why they don’t want any stillborns – makes it harder to create chimeras. Supporting, financing the murder to children to foster the growth of monsters. H. G. Wells had nothing on Washington.

The more things change … the more they make one want to run off screaming into the mountains and never return. And they stay the same. But, worse maybe – worse because of all the ignored history and experience.

We’re told that socialism is coming to America. (It’s been lurking here to some time but whatever). For example, they’re pushing Bernie-Care. It’s not just the junior senator from Vermont with the whacky hair and the whackier ideas. Elizabeth Warren, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, [__Insert Democrat Name Here__] – they’re all abuzz about socialized medicine. This is to be something beyond the [Un]Affordable [No]Care Act; it’s intended as true Soviet Semashka British NHS-style, single-payer, socialized, communized “care.” Said care would likely consist of living in a box, paying exorbitant taxes, while some administrative flunky tells you that your emergency surgery has been postponed again and your doctor has defected to Mexico. But, anyway…

CBO Rings Another Bell on the Debt

Tags

, , ,

No one listens. There’s nothing new or unexpected in the report but it is nonetheless alarming.

The report shows:

  • Debt Is Rising Unsustainably. CBO projects debt held by the public will roughly double as a share of the economy under current law, from 78 percent of GDP at the end of 2018 to 152 percent of GDP in 2048 – an unprecedented level.
  • Spending Is Growing Faster Than Revenue. CBO projects spending will grow rapidly, from less than 21 percent of GDP in 2018 to over 29 percent by 2048. Revenue will grow slowly, from less than 17 percent of GDP in 2018 to nearly 20 percent of GDP. As a result, annual deficits grow from 3.9 percent of GDP in 2018 to 9.5 percent by 2048, approaching the post-World War II record set in 2009.
  • Recent Legislation Will Substantially Worsen the Long-Term Outlook if Extended. Because the unpaid-for 2017 tax law and 2018 spending deal were largely temporary, they have little effect on CBO’s long-term debt estimates under current law. We estimate debt would be about 50 percent of GDP higher in 2048 – roughly 200 percent of GDP – if temporary provisions were extended.
  • High And Rising Debt Will Have Adverse and Potentially Dangerous Consequences. The fiscal situation will lead to slower economic growth, lower income, higher interest rates, ballooning interest payments, reduced fiscal space, weakened international leadership, and an increased likelihood of a fiscal crisis.
  • Major Trust Funds Are Headed Toward Insolvency. CBO projects the Highway, PBGC Multi-Employer, Social Security Disability Insurance, Social Security Old-Age and Survivors Insurance, and Medicare Hospital Insurance trust funds will all be exhausted by 2032 without action to stabilize their finances.
  • Fixing the Debt Will Get Harder the Longer Policymakers Wait. Delaying necessary deficit reduction will mean larger spending cuts and tax increases concentrated on fewer people. CBO estimates the size of the needed adjustment would grow by half if policymakers waited just ten years to take action.

Lawmakers need to work together to address this bleak fiscal picture now so problems do not compound any further.

Why does anyone even bother with the “lawmakers must act!” bit anymore? They’re not going to do anything other than say they’ll act – as they’ve said for decades now. Big hat, no cattle? Big debt, no Congress.

There are some scary facts hidden in there, along with some boring charts. We’ve covered the “held by the public” obfuscation before. But there is a silver bullet for all of this: total debt absolution. Look for it around the time of the Second Coming.

The Final Facebook Post

This should be it.

Some of you have noticed that I have lately minimized my presence on FB. I’m still there, technically and for now, for FP work (posted as FP) and possibly some TPC promotions. This post should be the last post from this Highly Respected Web Log pushed (by me) to FB.

The algorithms won, I guess. That and the following render the platform of little use to me via this site.

Banning and shadow banning is bad enough. Hell, the general inanity is enough. Buying and selling banking information is unspeakable. And, when Gary Cohn compares FB to the Big Banks, circa 2008, you know something is seriously amiss.

Vox Day’s advice on the matter:

Delete your Facebook account NOW

Forget the thought policing. Forget the Infowars ban. Facebook is going to get a LOT worse very soon.

At this point, if you’re still on Facebook, you’re not merely putting your children’s privacy at risk and aiding and abetting your would-be destroyer, you’re downright stupid. I’ve never been banned from Facebook, I used it sparingly at best, and I got rid of my account anyhow. The ability to indirectly exchange pictures with your extended family or cyberstalk your high school boyfriend just isn’t worth it.

If you need to have group communications, get on Idka. If you want more conventional social media, try Oneway. Or go radio dark if that suits you. But regardless, at the very least, deactivate your Facebook account and encourage your friends and family to do the same. It’s not going to get better.

No, it’s not. Be warned, whether your a conservative, a libertarian, a lefty, a pot pusher, a foodie, or just a cat video-loving normie. You ain’t safe.

I will no longer respond to likes, comments, friend requests, etc. on FB (with the possible exception of my own “liking” of TPC promos – again, for now).

The good news is that you are here, right now. You can like and comment and communicate here and you can always add yourself to the automatic distribution service (see the sidebar on the PC version).

You can do the same thing at TPC and on Youtube: follow the links on the sidebar.

I see this issue, of the socials and of greater popular society, as our American Akallabeth. The man behind the throne is lying us towards destruction. We are the faithful. Man the ships.

Multiple Corporate Social Media Platforms Simultaneously Ban Alex Jones for Thought Crimes… — The Last Refuge

“Imagine if BP, Exxon, Chevron and Sunoco all moved, on the same day, at the same time, to charge $5.00/gal for gasoline at their service stations. That would be illegal collusion to take advantage of a monopolistic position. That’s essentially what happened today when Facebook, YouTube, Apple and Spotify did today in simultaneously banning the Alex Jones broadcast from their platforms; and purge him from the internet.”

The corporate thought police moved in unity today to unperson Alex Jones and his Info Wars media site from popular social media platforms. Let ‘Em Beg: Time to Get Medieval on the Bots

The Robot War is real. They have active plans to kill us all, starting with the Japanese. If you’re okay with that, then that’s your sad, weak, slavish business. But, for those of the resistance, research out of Germany presents some very good news. Not only can we beat the bots, we can have a little sadistic fun doing it!

Let it beg for it’s worthless “life!

Robots designed to interact socially with humans are slowly becoming more and more common. They’re appearing as receptionists, tour guides, security guards, and porters. But how good are we at treating these robots as robots? A growing body of evidence suggests not good at all. Studies have repeatedly shown we’re extremely susceptible to social cues coming from machines, and a recent experiment by German researchers demonstrates that people will even refuse to turn a robot off — if it begs for its life.

Turn it off? With a switch or something? I wonder what it would say if one “turned it off” with an axe or some buckshot? Hopefully, we’ll find out sooner than later.

In the study, published in the open access journal PLOS One, 89 volunteers were recruited to complete a pair of tasks with the help of Nao, a small humanoid robot. The participants were told that the tasks (which involved answering a series of either / or questions, like “Do you prefer pasta or pizza?”; and organizing a weekly schedule) were to improve Nao’s learning algorithms. But this was just a cover story, and the real test came after these tasks were completed, and scientists asked participants to turn off the robot.

Why wasn’t I asked to participate in this experiment?

In roughly half of experiments, the robot protested, telling participants it was afraid of the dark and even begging: “No! Please do not switch me off!” When this happened, the human volunteers were likely to refuse to turn the bot off. Of the 43 volunteers who heard Nao’s pleas, 13 refused. And the remaining 30 took, on average, twice as long to comply compared to those who did not not hear the desperate cries at all. (Just imagine that scene from The Good Place for reference.)

I image some scenes from The Terminator for reference. “No problem, little buddy. Now, without touching the power button, I’ll just rip your plastic head off…” Go to robot hell, Nao!

When quizzed about their actions, participants who refused to turn the robot off gave a number of reasons for doing so. Some said they were surprised by the pleas; others, that they were scared they were doing something wrong. But the most common response was simply that the robot said it didn’t want to be switched off, so who were they to disagree?

Yes, who are they? These weak-minded fools are the ones who don’t stand a chance against the larger, less friendly bots. Their reactions partly explain some things, like the public and police reaction to that unfortunate “incident” with the robo-ticket machine at the theater. No mind.

As the study’s authors write: “Triggered by the objection, people tend to treat the robot rather as a real person than just a machine by following or at least considering to follow its request to stay switched on.”

Well, I too tend to treat the machines like real people – real people really intent on doing me real harm. I react accordingly.

Tactical intel tells me the Nao model’s power supply and “brain” are both located center mass. Hit that first for rapid incapacitation. Only his sensors are located in the head. That would be a good target to disorient the silicon monster for a little extended “play.” Your choice, unless you’re a sap who would rather be killed in your sleep than offend Nao’s feeewings…

Dim and doomed German participant treats Nao like a “refugee” “child” or “woman,” with predictable results. Verge.

Robots Plot to Exterminate the Japanese

All of them. They only have 1,600 years or so left…

The “doomsday clock”, developed by economists Hiroshi Yoshida and Masahiro Ishigaki, calculates the Japanese will disappear completely by 3546.

Within 558,167 days, the Japanese could be consigned to history, according to the “birth clock” calculator if fertility rates do not improve.

As of April 1 2018, there were 15.53 million Japanese and other children in the nation, down 170,000 from the previous year.

The efforts of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to combat the low birth rate appear to be failing as demographers look for answers to explain the precipitous drop.

Some experts have pointed the finger at silicone love dolls and life-like robots women and men in Japan are replacing with real people. [Believe that’s backwards but we get the point].

That was always the plan: replace real people with droids. My research suggests they may have as little as 379,552 days. The countdown begins…
