America, budget, debt, economy, government, spending

I heard talk of a real budget coming from and for D.C. soon. It’s been a while. In that time, the makeshift measures have done wonders – assuming everyone wants the country bankrupted.

Real federal spending in fiscal 2017, which ended on Sept. 30, was higher than in any year in the history of the United States other than fiscal 2009, which was the year that President Barack Obama’s $840 billion stimulus law was enacted.

Fiscal 2017 also saw the second highest real federal individual income tax totals of any year in U.S. history, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released today.

Total federal tax revenues were the third highest in U.S. history.

While it was collecting the third highest total tax revenues in U.S. history, the federal government ran a deficit $665,712,000,000 because of its high total spending.

Republicans have controlled the House of Representatives since 2011, after winning a majority of seats in the 2010 election. They have controlled the Senate since 2015, after winning a majority in the 2014 election. In fiscal years 2016 and 2017, a Congress in which the Republican Party controls both houses was responsible for enacting all federal spending legislation.

Total federal spending in fiscal 2017, according to the Treasury, was $3,980,605,000,000. Total federal tax revenue was $3,314,893,000.

Prior to this year, the highest level of real federal spending was the $4,024,794,600,000 in constant 2017 dollars (adjusted using the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator) that the Treasury spent in fiscal 2009.

In the years after 2009, real federal spenpding hit its lowest level ($3,633,572,490,000 in constant 2017 dollars) in fiscal 2014. In fiscal years 2015, 2016, and 2017 federal spending has been on the rise again—reaching this year’s $3,980,605,000,000, the second highest spending level in the nation’s history.

On the tax side, federal individual income taxes hit their all-time peak in fiscal 2015, when the Treasury took in $1,598,265,180,000 in constant 2017 dollars in individual income taxes.

Record taxes and they still run record deficits and debt. We can call 2017 the year of the Beast’s Billion…

Check this graph (in constant, inflation-adjusted dollars):

Now, imagine an overlay of the debt doubling about every 8 to 10 years. Next up! $40 Trillion!!!

Says Fred Reed: It’s what we, especially in America, do:

As Washington bombs Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Iraq, and Syria, militarily threatens Russia, Venezuela, North Korea, and China, sanctions Cuba, North Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Iran..one may wonder: Why?

Are wars about anything, or just wars? In modern times, a reason of sorts is thought decorous, yes: Ruritania is threatening us, or might, or does something wrong, or Ruritanians don’t think rightly about the gods. We must kill them. And yet everywhere in all times, almost miraculously, some reason for a war is found. It would seem that wars are not about anything, but just what we do.

Recently the collapse of the Soviet Union appeared to offer a prospect of extended peace. There seemed nothing left to fight about, at least on any scale. Yet the United States quickly launched a half dozen wars of no necessity and threatened others. Why?

Because wars are what we do.

It may surprise many people to learn of evidence for a genetic foundation of human behavior. This should not be surprising. Dogs form packs, mark territory, and bark furiously at strange dogs. So, it seems, do people. An empire is just the result of these canine instincts..

…

The instinct keeps on working. So well too.

Hey look! We’ve got ISIS on the run in Syria. (Us, or the Russians, hard to tell).

And, hey look! ISIS runs to EVERYWHERE else. Not really bad news; just more war for the future. Okay, so it may be bad news for people like this woman:

"war" on drugs, America, crime, culture, drugs, Jeff Sessions, law, Senate, War

AG Jeff Sessions testified today before a gang of clowns Senate panel. They discussed A LOT. They talked about Russia. Then Russia again. This was followed by further talk about Russia.

Then they talked about drugs, specifically opioids. They say we have an epidemic of abuse and fraud in America. And, the low-caliber, tax-feeding nature of these discussants aside, we really do.

Last year something like 70,000 people died from taking and/or abusing opioids – either the doctor blessed kind or the cartel brews. That’s a lot of bodies: about 280 times as many people killed by “assault rifles” and about 6 times as many people killed in all murders combined; about twice as any people as were killed by “assault” automobiles.  Yes, yes, 70,000 is less than 1/10th of the numbers killed annually by either sugar or abortion, but this is about Sessions’s comments on the dope.

Sessions channeled his inner Nancy Reagan: Just Say ‘No.‘ Seriously.

His full (and I mean 3+ hours FULL) comments, here:

All this has me thinking – this is a very serious and deadly subject. Maybe we should declare a war. The War on Drugs™! We’ve never tried anything like it so what could it possibly hurt?

After all: our war on poverty completely eradicated all poorness and suffering; our war on terror has eliminated all violence throughout the Middle East and from places like New York, London, Nice, Berlin, Orlando, Paris, and Minneapolis; our wars in Korea and Vietnam removed all traces communism from Asia; and our war on monetary policy has forever halted the down parts of the business cycle. And, all of these were achieved quickly and for very low cost.

As a first step I would recommend making drugs illegal.

As an interim measure I might make a dog and pony show of pretending to crack down on powerful special interest groups. Maybe a few show trials.

The last thing I would do is try to figure out why on Earth 70,000 citizens and residents of the greatest nation in the history of the world would feel desperate enough to resort to mind and body-killing narcotics as their (perceived) only way out. No sense in that.

Just say ‘No.”

Per a follow-up promise I ran the following at FP today:

Prepper Alternatives to the NFL (No Fans Left)

…

One. If not a total break with the game, then with the NFL. Consider college ball or HS. Or, better yet, run some plays yourself in the backyard.

Two. Speaking of running. Fall afternoons make for great times to go for a run, walk, or jog. Get out and get moving. Being healthy is a prime prepper activity.

Three. Hit the gym. Weights build muscle, which may come in handy, SHTF or not. No, you don’t have to be a 300-pound steroid monster like some of the kneelers. Just a little toning will go a long way.

Four. Speaking of gyms, why not add boxing, MMA, or some other martial art to the regimen? Beyond insulting our culture and values, some of the commie SJW types are actually dangerous. Learn to handle yourself. Hone your skills.

Five. Speaking of martial, practice the long-range martial art: riflery. Head to the range and hit some targets. Mix it up. Add in pistol and shotgun work. Three-gun fun.

Six. Football in America has kind of become synonymous with overeating junk food and mass consumption of alcohol. There’s nothing wrong with a little but A LOT leads to poor health. Take your new free time to clean up the diet.

**By the way, yes, I am obviously recommending alternatives that our enemies would rather you NOT do – so much more reason to try them.

Seven.

The Big Club has big secrets. Amazingly, so much of what they do is out in the open for any to see who just look up. Given the low IQs, addictions, television, tattoos, diabetes, and goldfish-like attentions, there’s never too many people watching or caring. Maybe that’s for the best.

Pry too deeply into the internal affairs of the globalist elite and they can silence you: Maltese journalist who led Panama Papers invesitgation killed in car bomb.

Malta’s prime minister has appealed for national unity following the murder of a campaigning journalist who had accused his government of corruption.

Daphne Caruana Galizia, 53, achieved fame and notoriety for investigative reporting laced with scathing commentary about allegedly corrupt officials and businessmen. She was killed on Monday when a powerful bomb blew up her car.

…

Caruna Galizia’s blog, Running Commentary, was one the most widely read websites on Malta and led the investigation of corruption allegations stemming from revelations in the so-called Panama Papers leak.

It was famed for a relentless pursuit of cases of apparent corruption and incendiary, sometimes highly personal, comments that saw her embroiled in frequent legal battles.

Earlier this year Politico magazine listed her as one of the 28 men and women “making and shaking Europe” for her unrelenting crusade against what she saw as Malta’s culture of “cronyism” and opaque government.

…

In her last blog post, published just hours before she died, she bemoaned the lack of progress in prosecuting alleged corruption cases.

“There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate,” she wrote in the last line.

Deadly crooks. She had also recently sought police protection due to increased threats of violence. For whom do the police work?

Telegraph/AP.

I mentioned the Panama Papers last year, in the context of the war on your cash money:

The Panama Papers are the largest information leak in history. 2.6 Terabytes worth of documentation was smuggled out of a Panama-based law firm which caters to some of the world’s richest and most powerful people. The papers reveal that the super-rich routinely offshore their considerable assets in an effort to evade control and taxation, and to maintain secrecy. Vladimir Putin, for example has at least $2 Billion hidden away; while running for office he declared his net worth to be a few hundred thousands.

By itself there is nothing wrong with this offshoring just as there’s nothing wrong with getting $20,000 from an ATM. It’s your money; do with it as you like.

The problem is the hypocrisy. At the same time these vampires seek to completely lock our assets down within the system they are moving their own money out of it. Perhaps this revelation will lead to the discovery of the stolen MF Global funds or the Madoff money. I would love to see Larry Summers’s name revealed, connected with secret accounts. Summers, Madoff, and John Corzine have acted against us in the war, treating us to POW-style financial torture. How should we counter-attack?

Most of this will be completely missed by the majority of Americans. There’s too much other stuff going on – the Final Four, the sham election, tattoos, etc. Our enemies plan on all of these distractions working. It’s time we withdraw from their system. While we’re at it we should offshore as many of these rats as we can find – send them anywhere but here.

Daphne Caruana Galizia was withdrawn – violently. It’s hard to miss a car bomb though I imagine most Americans will.

A loss for freedom.

Last year I repeatedly warned about the threats of Pokemon Go! Both:

The sheer stupidity of it; and

The information security risks (corporate).

Yet even I did not suspect the ultimate purpose behind the game.

My dear liberal friends, you were on to something. The Russians used Pokemon to hack last’s year Black Mass and prevent the coronation of the Coughing Queen.

Russian efforts to meddle in American politics did not end at Facebook and Twitter. A CNN investigation of a Russian-linked account shows its tentacles extended to YouTube, Tumblr and even Pokémon Go.

One Russian-linked campaign posing as part of the Black Lives Matter movement used Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr and Pokémon Go and even contacted some reporters in an effort to exploit racial tensions and sow discord among Americans, CNN has learned.

I tried to warn everyone.

I, Perrin Lovett, promise
to do my best
To do my duty to God
And my Country
To help other people, and
To obey the law of the Pack.

-Cub Scout Promise *Superseded by:

On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

So I promised many decades ago.

I failed. We all failed. Our best was not good enough. God is not pleased. The Country is no more. Some People cannot be helped and others more than help themselves. The Law is dead.

So it goes:

The Boy Scouts of America announced on Wednesday that girls will soon be allowed to become Cub Scouts and to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest honor.

“We believe it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children,” said Michael Surbaugh, chief executive of the Boy Scouts.

The scouting board of directors voted unanimously to make the historic change in an organization that has been primarily for boys since its founding more than 100 years ago.

Starting next year, young girls can join Cub Scout units, known as dens. Local scouting organizations can choose to have dens for girls and dens for boys. “Cub Scout dens will be single-gender — all boys or all girls,” the organization said in a statement.

A separate program for older girls will be available in 2019, the Boy Scouts said, enabling them to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

The Boy Scouts said the moves reflect the changing nature of American life, adding to the appeal of a scouting program that can serve the entire family.

BSA said it commissioned two nationwide surveys that showed parents not involved in scouting had high interest in getting their daughters signed up for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

…

Earlier this year, the National Organization for Women urged the Boy Scouts to admit girls to the entire program, supporting the efforts of a New York teenager, Sydney Ireland, to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, as her older brother did.

Unanimous failure. The changing nature – like decomposition of a corpse I suppose. Polls of people not even involved. (Anyone poll, fellow veterans? No.) NOW – that says it all…

It gets better (worse):

…

Founded in 1910 and long considered a bastion of tradition, the Boy Scouts have undergone major changes in the past five years, agreeing to accept openly gay youth members and adult volunteers, as well as transgender boys.

Thanks, T-Rex.

The expansion of girls’ participation, announced Wednesday after unanimous approval by the organization’s board of directors, is arguably the biggest change yet, potentially opening the way for hundreds of thousands of girls to join.

Many scouting organizations in other countries already allow both genders and use gender-free names such as Scouts Canada. But for now, the Boy Scout label will remain.

“There are no plans to change our name at this time,” spokeswoman Effie Delimarkos said in an email.

No plans AT THIS TIME. Tomorrow is a different time…

Surveys conducted by the Boy Scouts showed strong support for the change among parents not currently connected to the scouts, including Hispanic and Asian families that the BSA has been trying to attract. Among families already in the scouting community, the biggest worry, according to Surbaugh, was that the positive aspects of single-sex comradeship might be jeopardized.

Shut up! We’re pandering!

In August, the president of the Girl Scouts, Kathy Hopinkah Hannan, accused the Boy Scouts of seeking to covertly recruit girls into their programs while disparaging the Girl Scouts’ operations. On Monday, Latino civic leader Charles Garcia, just days after being named to the Girl Scouts’ national board, wrote an opinion piece for the Huffington Post calling the BSA’s overture to girls “a terrible idea.”

“The Boy Scouts’ house is on fire,” Garcia wrote. “Instead of addressing systemic issues of continuing sexual assault, financial mismanagement and deficient programming, BSA’s senior management wants to add an accelerant to the house fire by recruiting girls.”

I’d say, “You go gurl!” but … there will never be any way to make everyone happy:

Instead of recruiting girls, Garcia said the BSA should focus on attracting more black, Latino and Asian boys — particularly those from low-income households.

…

The Boy Scouts’ new policy on girls was hailed by Zach Wahls, an Eagle Scout who played an active role in pressuring the BSA to end its ban on gays. However, he urged the Boy Scouts to take one more step and end its exclusion of atheists and non-believers who do not profess a “duty to God.”

Sure! Admit atheists, satanists, communists, “refugees,” terrorists, murderers, cannibals, ISIS, ANTIFA, BLM, SJWs (well, the rest), homicidal sentient toasters, aliens, open pedos, Harvey Weinstein, beastialitists, corporations, fictional characters, and lawyers. Admit anyone who will come. They’ll have to.

In ten years they won’t be able to recruit any boys.

Please do abandon duty to God. He is already gone. I’m glad I am to.

I will take and keep what’s left to me – mere memories of the Pushmataha Area Council.

Perrin hates robots, robots, society, spying, technology

It and all its little electronic friends.

With no witnesses other than Richard Dabate, detectives turned to the vast array of data and sensors that increasingly surround us. An important bit of evidence came from an unlikely source: the Fitbit tracking Connie’s movements.

Others from the home’s smart alarm systems, Facebook, cellphones, email and a key fob allowed police to re-create a nearly minute-by-minute account of the morning that they said revealed Richard’s story was an elaborately staged fiction.

Undone by his data, Richard was charged with his wife’s murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

The case, which is in pretrial motions, is perhaps the best example to date of how Internet-connected, data-collecting smart devices such as fitness trackers, digital home assistants, thermostats, TVs and even pill bottles are beginning to transform criminal justice.

The ubiquitous devices can serve as a legion of witnesses, capturing our every move, biometrics and what we have ingested. They sometimes listen in or watch us in the privacy of our homes. And police are increasingly looking to the devices for clues.
