This one measures social progress – health, wellbeing, and opportunity.

The U.S. came in 18th place, in the High (but missing Very High) category.

As with most of these things, I’m a little dubious of some of the metrics. Others though are spot on. And the findings are pretty consistent with other surveys and rankings we’ve looked at recently.

The FULL REPORT.

Not in the U.S.? Many of you are not. In the U.S.? Most of you are. Regardless, check the charts and see how you and yours did. Hats off to the “very highs.” The full study may be accessed:

A blank-faced “Canadian” man shouted some variant of “Aloha Snackbar” as he stabbed a police officer in the neck. The incident took place today at the Flint International Airport.

A Canadian man yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ repeatedly stabbed the officer including in the neck at the airport on Wednesday morning, witnesses told NBC News.

The saying means ‘God is great’ in Arabic, and is often shouted by Islamic terrorists before attacks or suicide bombings.

The police officer involved in the incident has been identified as Lieutenant Jeff Neville, who is retired from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Robert Pickell told WJRT that Neville was an ‘amazing deputy’. He has reportedly worked as an officer at the airport since 2001.

Neville was at his post at the top of a set of escalators at the airport Wednesday morning when he was attacked from behind with a knife similar to a Bowie knife, WJRT reports.

This stabbing, like so many others, was a display of love and peace and of the great value of tolerance and diversity. We are all a little better, a little safer because of it.

Local Muslim leaders, SJW activists, and slithering politicians expressed outrage; they fear backlash against knife-wielding terrorists, international welfare “refugee” programs, and yummy halal eateries in the future. They think the reprisal may start after the next terror attack, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

The terrorist was detained instead of shot dead. Word is he plans to run a conversion seminar for other inmates while in prison. We do not, yet, know his identity other than his purported nationality. Rest assured the police, either in Michigan, with the Feds, or in Canada or somewhere else, know him. ALWAYS.

Yesterday the voters of Georgia’s 6th Congressional District did all Americans a favor we will find difficult to repay. They elected Republican Karen Handel to replace the Trump-picked Tom Price.

The election, featuring Handel and some kid who doesn’t even live in the district, was said to be the most expensive of its kind in history. The money was well spent.

nimbus-image-1498055620518

Carlos Slim’s Blog.

The success of the GOP, yesterday, gives President Trump a mandate – something he’s lacked since being elected himself back in November. It also proves that Democrats have recovered from their losses and are on-board with the GOP agenda to fix everything. Great news.

Now that Handel is ready to join Congress, the Republican party finally has a majority, both in the House and the Senate, something they’ve lacked until now. The election also gives them the White House, control of Judicial appointments, and control of most State Houses – something they have never had before.

We can now, immediately, expect the following:

Tax cuts (big and today);

Healthcare reform (probably by Friday);

The wall;

The end of illegal immigration, crime, and terrorism;

The defeat of ISIS;

A chicken in every pot;

Lasting peace with Russia;

Sound currency and permanent economic stability; and

Peace and happiness forever.

Now comes a new era of American pride and excellence. This will go down as the best strategic move in U.S. political history, practical, partisan, and theoretical. And, most importantly, it proves the value of voting and that every vote really does count. Let the good times roll.

Go ahead and hold your breath.

The Slant on the Redskins and Other Offensive Names

Deal with them. Good news for free speech: the Supreme Court rules against arbitrary and capricious bureaucrats and in favor of the First Amendment.

In a decision likely to bolster the Washington Redskins’ efforts to protect their trademarks, the Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the government may not refuse to register potentially offensive names. A law denying protection to disparaging trademarks, the court said, violated the First Amendment.

The decision was unanimous, but the justices were divided on the reasoning.

The decision, concerning an Asian-American dance-rock band called the Slants, was viewed by a lawyer for the Washington Redskins as a strong indication that the football team will win its fight to retain federal trademark protection.

Lisa S. Blatt, a lawyer for the team, said the decision “resolves the Redskins’ longstanding dispute with the government.”

“The Supreme Court vindicated the team’s position that the First Amendment blocks the government from denying or canceling a trademark registration based on the government’s opinion,” she said.

Like me, you may have never heard of The Slants and you may have forgotten that Washington has a football team. This is still a win for freedom.

The OPINION.

Back to Brussels: Seven Thoughts on the Latest Terror Attack

“Aloha Snackbar!” So said the “soldier of the Caliphate” as he detonated his homicide vest and was simultaneously shot down by soldiers of failing Christendom.

A suspected suicide bomber who allegedly shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ before triggering an explosive vest at Brussels Central Station has been gunned down and killed by soldiers.

Shots rang out soon after 9pm as police and soldiers moved in ‘to neutralise a suspect who was threatening civilians,’ in what is being considered a terrorist incident.

Initial reports suggested the suspect, described as being ‘tanned and well-built’, was wearing a rucksack packed with explosives – while witnesses later claimed he tried to blow up a trolley or a suitcase.

Terrified passengers inside the station ran towards the tracks as they tried to avoid the blast. There were no other casualties reported and police quickly said the situation was ‘under control’.

Tourists were among those who fled in panic, and within a few minutes the busy nearby shops and restaurants were shut down.

The Grand Place, the city’s most popular tourist spot, was completely evacuated alongside the station 650 metres away because of fears that the man might not be acting alone.

I’m going to leave the story at that. Now I want to make a few observations:

1. This comes on the heels of the truck ramming in Paris yesterday. I wasn’t going to even mention that one. There, did it.

2. I didn’t bother to investigate who the terrorist was. However, we know that he was already known to authorities. Why? Why do we know that? Come on, we always know. That’s because the terrorist invaders ARE ALWAYS KNOWN in advance. It’s completely possible he had already been arrested and released for previous terror issues.

3. “…fears that the man might not be acting alone.” He wasn’t.

4. It seems (early) that the Jihadist was the only casualty. I get the feeling his bomb malfunctioned. That makes me think the bomb making is proliferating. There is already a widespread network of ISIS munition experts in Europe. Their products usually go off with a big, concert-shattering bang. This guy was probably a DIY novice, branching out on his own. Not a good thing, except that no one else, here, was affected. Might not be so lucky next time (soon).

5. They said he appeared “tan and well built.” Muscular, healthy, tanned even – just like all pitiful, emaciated “refugees,” you know. Fleeing one war just to fight another one.

6. He was shot by soldiers before detonating himself. Shot by soldiers. The soldiers were already on scene to do the shooting because they are permanently stationed in the city just as they are in France and England. Two kinds of places have soldiers on the streets like that: banana republics and nations under siege. That your pick.

7. Finally, just take a look at the following picture: a city cop, two armed soldiers in full combat gear, and a beautiful native woman crouching in terror:

Valediction 2017

The news from government schools and the standardized “education” industry grows worse by the month.

“Valediction,” as used above, means saying farewell.

Valedictoria: a student, typically having the highest academic achievements of the class, who delivers the valedictory at a graduation ceremony.

The Valedictorian, with the highest academic achievement, gets to say farewell to the school on behalf of the graduating class. And we now bid farewell to valedictorians in American government high schools.

Unfortunately, as the AP points out today, that is exactly what seems to be happening at high schools all around the country as the title of “valedictorian” is being eliminated and/or bestowed upon so many kids in each graduating class that it’s rendered meaningless.

“More and more schools are moving toward a more holistic process. They look deeper into the transcript,” Gottlieb said.

Wisconsin’s Elmbrook School District has for several years ranked only the valedictorian and salutatorian, and only then because the state awards scholarships to schools’ top two graduates, according to Assistant Superintendent Dana Monogue. The change has been accepted by colleges and community alike, Monogue said.

“We are encouraged by any movement that helps students understand that they’re more than a score, that they’re more than a rank,” she said.

One school in Tennessee awarded the “valedictorian” title to 48 kids or roughly 25% of the entire graduating class.

Tennessee’s Rutherford County schools give the valedictorian title to every student who meets requirements that include a 4.0 grade-point average and at least 12 honors courses. Its highly ranked Central Magnet School had 48 valedictorians this year, about a quarter of its graduating class.

At another school in Maryland, the AP highlights the woes of a concerned mother who wonders how ranking might affect her teenager’s confidence.

The day rankings came out at Hammond High School in Columbia, Maryland, students were privately told their number — but things didn’t stay private for long.

“That was the only thing everyone was talking about,” said Mikey Peterson, 18, who shrugged off his bottom-third finish and will attend West Virginia University in the fall.

A spokesman for the Howard County, Maryland, district said schools recognize their top 5 percent so students can include it on college applications and hasn’t considered changing.

“There was a big emphasis on where you landed,” said Peterson’s classmate Vicki Howard, 18. “It made everything 10 times more competitive.”

Peterson’s mother, Elizabeth Goshorn, said she can’t walk into his school without hearing good things about her affable son, but worries about how rankings can affect a teenager’s confidence.

“It has such an impact on them as to how they perceive themselves if you’re putting rankings on them,” she said.

Try as you might, ignoring the principles of basic mathematics does not mean that they cease to exist. And while your enabling parents, high schools and colleges may share your view that ranking people on the basis achievement is racist, sexist and/or any other number of adjectives you may wish to throw out there….again, we assure you that the real world does not care.

Life is competitive and your relative performance versus your peers will ultimately determine your success in life irrespective of how “triggering” that fact may be. The sooner you realize that fact, the sooner you’ll be able to move out of mom’s basement.

The feelings of the snowflakes and the incessant demands of the SJWs destroy another tradition.

unnamed-1

I was not, if I recall ancient history correctly, valedictorian at “my” government high school. We had some very smart kids and very industrious. I’m confident my IQ placed at or very near the top. But my efforts*, while better than average, fell far short of the top slot. I can’t remember who received the honor, and honor it is (was), but I wasn’t the least bit upset about it. I’m happy when people succeed.

Now it’s gone – or going. Maybe it’s time to bid farewell to the schools. A class of valedictorians probably will require remedial education in college and, later, in life. What’s the point?

* My efforts continued to slide in college, as my IQ also surely declined… I rebounded in law school; still not top spot but with honors. I also got a shout out by name, from the faculty speaker, for my achievement. That, I think was rebel-rousing… Hmmm…

I’m not really sure what this is worth. I have tried to watch but haven’t made it through. Kinda like watching a movie after having read the book. Here’s the whole interview, as narrated by AJ and Mike Cernovich:

Info Wars.

I think everyone knew or should have known how this would go. AJ was very clever to record the event and play gotcha with the gotcha artists themselves. Not sure this changes anyone’s thinking about anything.

Politico has some transcripts,etc. HERE.

I’ve been a fan of Jones for a long time. A few years back I was tentatively supposed to be on his show with a story about government corruption of something… That didn’t work out. Anyway, I also like Megyn; this may (likely does) have something to do with her looks more than reporting.

Cerno is at Info Wars now, btw. Megyn still has the leg factor.

Make of this, all of it,what you will. Or not. Your call.

10 Injured in London Vehicular Terror Attack (Yes, Another One)

Developing story… This incident looks to be very similar to the others.

nimbus-image-1497835677334

There are, however, certain abnormalities with the narrative. The attack took place in front of a Mosque as worshipers were exiting services. And the initial reports are that the subject van was driven by a “clean-shaven white man,” who has been arrested. Of course, these initial reports frequently change.

There are a number of white men who are Muslims. Or, this could be a George Zimmerman-style white man. Or it could be an angry Brit with a Breivik-esque vendetta. The ISIS boys are none to fond of being taken alive and they usually exit the vehicle to start shooting or stabbing. No word on the usual “Allahu Akbar!”

If this is not a rinse and repeat, and is a reprisal, then Vox put it best:

Looks like reprisal. “Images on Twitter appeared to show a clean-shaven white man with black hair being detained by police officers behind a van.”

The media will be so happy. Only 16 years after 9/11, they finally have their long-awaited backlash.

We’ll find out soon enough.

Jon, you got anything across the pond???
