My apologizes to the late, great Warren Zevon.

Another shooting in another gun-free zone.  Hmm. Always the narrative.  One would seem to preclude the other.  You don’t hear about too many shootings at police stations, gun ranges, NRA conventions – places where everyone is armed. Anyway, 13 or more innocent people are dead in Oregon.  Very sad.

It’s also rather suspicious that officials know the shooter’s age and sex but not his name.  We knew Vester Flanagan’s name and even his alias immediately. CNN had pictures of KKK-wannabe Dylan Roof instantly.  Nothing this time.

Also interesting is the shooter’s request that his victims rise and state their religions before he executed them.  All this leads me to believe the shooter was either anti-Christian or Muslim.  Maybe both.  Maybe he was just a nut.  Maybe he was a recently imported, CIA trained “refugee” from the middle east seeking a better, safer life in America.  That was sort of the story in Chattanooga and some other recent shootings.  The government is working overtime to import jihadis into the rubble of the Old Republic.

The same government is about to run out of money.  All year they have employed various tricks to make invisible the mounting debt crisis.  As I said earlier, they’re printing and spending just not reporting.  Now the chickens are coming home and the roost is ready to collapse.

Not to worry.  Ahead of his departure Speaker John “Boo Hoo” Boehner is orchestrating a plan to raise the government’s borrowing limit.  They will succeed.  A default and resulting shutdown would be the best thing that could possibly happen to this country.  After several weeks or months the people would forget about the government and never want it back.  The best thing for us is the worse for the political class.  They can’t have that.  The horror show will go on.

They keep spending, we keep dying.  Convenient, huh?

Government, as I mentioned the other day, has but one valid purpose – to protect the rights of the free people.  The industry as a whole completely failed this charge about 5,000 years ago and has yet to redeem itself.  Among its many, many illicit purposes is a virtual war against the innocent, including children.

One of the latest American victims in this war is a sixteen year old high school boy from North Carolina (and his 17-year-old girlfriend).  The boy was prosecuted for felony child pornography charges – for possessing naked pictures of … himself.

It seems the young couple engaged in silly behavior – as teenagers will, to include “sexting.”  They exchanged naughty pictures of themselves.  Kids do that sort of thing.  It’s human.  It’s also a technical violation of that god of gods, the law.  The teenage perpetrator, also his own victim, was allowed to plead guilty on lesser charges to avoid the lifelong stigma attached to sex offenders.

This story takes stupidity and malice to levels previously unknown in the civilized world.  How could anyone consider this a crime?  How could this crime be prosecuted?  How could a judge not throw the case out and, furthermore, cite the state for contempt for its bringing?  Why isn’t the courthouse in flames?

I suppose some law and order, puritanical types are rejoicing that another law was upheld and someone was punished for having fun.  These might be the type of modern “conservatives” accustomed to handling rattlesnakes for the Lord in the backwoods somewhere.  I don’t know.  I hope they’re happy.

Happy also are the anything goes, “liberals” one might find in the basement of a San Francisco bathhouse.  They’re happy about another case on the far side of the world wherein the government honored the libertine “customs” of a native people – yet, again, all done at the expense of children.

U.S. soldiers and Marines in Afghanistan, while on break from guarding the CIA’s poppy fields, were instructed to look the other way as our Afghan “allies” engaged in good old fashion child molestation and homosexual rape.  See also: here.

There you have it.  The same government that prosecutes children for non-crimes simultaneously covers up actual crimes against children.  Worse, we’ve been forced to pay those ally rapists friends of ours hundreds of billions of dollars (trillion$???) to help them pursue their Satanic hobbies.

Remember these stories in conjunction the next time you ponder the worth of the state.  I say, ready the…

I strive to bring you quality information with a twist. Last week I posted on the sad, demented murder spree of Vester Flanagan. Several months ago I wrote about the “race war” lunatic Dylan Roof wanted to start on behalf of redneck racists everywhere. Vester answered the challenge for the gay, black, psycho set. You probably see the correlation.

There’s a lot I could write about these travesties but I am tired these days. And, other commentators have filled the void with masterful observations. If I can’t write it, then I like to bring you the best of the social commentary world. Here are two of the best breakdowns I have come across concerning Flanagan’s rampage:

Michael Snyder observes People are Going Crazy. I reside, part-time, in the real world and I know this is true.

Why in the world can’t we all just learn to love one another and respect one another?

Instead, the mainstream media and many of our “national leaders” are constantly fueling racial tensions in this nation.

An atmosphere of hatred and violence is seemingly being purposely created in America, and we are starting to see some really bizarre things happen.

William Grigg, who chronicles the deprivations of the American police state, notes Vester is seen as a Social Justice Avenger of sorts.

“Crime is contagious,” observed Brandeis in the Olmstead v. U.S. decision nearly a century ago, when the surveillance state was in its larval stage and wiretapping by police was looked upon with horror. “If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it invites every man to become a law unto himself…. To declare in the administration of the criminal law the end justifies the means – to declare that the government may commit crimes in order to secure the conviction of a private criminal – would bring terrible retribution.”

In the deranged outpouring that has inevitably been christened a “manifesto,” Flanagan name-checked prior mass murderers and claimed that “what sent me over the top” was the murder spree in Charleston by the similarly demented bigot Dylann Roof. Acknowledging that it is perilous to seek a thread of rationality in the tapestry of delusion woven by Flanagan, I would suggest that he clearly regarded the “nasty racist things” he supposedly experienced as a “gay black man” as offenses worthy of violent reprisal.

Wouldn’t it be great if all of these homicidal losers could get together somewhere and have their war independent of the rest of us?!

At the end of last week the Dow Jones dropped 888 points. This number is a boon to certain numerologists. A boon for the social justice crowd came when the wealthiest 1% lost $182 Billion! instantly.

I see no upside here. The fact is the 2008-2009 recession never ended. The great recovery wasn’t. The commercial banks and a select few corporations were propped up with tens of trillions of new “out of thin air” funny dollars. It bought them a little time – time to grab everything of value they could. The grabbing is frantic now.

The rest of us have little to nothing. There are few high paying jobs. The mighty BRICS are crumpling. The West is teetering. All we’re left with is higher prices, lower pay and the most pathetic assortment of political candidates ever assembled.

Okay, yes, the price of gas is collapsing. That’s positive for now. Only for now, for later it’s a harbinger of ill to come.

This week or next the markets should pep up a bit. But, fall and winter are coming.

What do those lovely candidates have to say about all this? More spending? More funny money? A wall? A wall built with funny money? Remember, while walls can keep foreigners out, they can also keep natives in.

There are solutions to these problems. You will not hear them on Fox, CNN or CNBC. Most people would reject them anyway. We’ve been here before – again and again and again. Einstein’s iron law of insanity.

The Lesser American Flag Flap

A long time ago I penned a column called The Great American Flag Flap (I think).  It was published somewhere and I think it was about the attempt of various rednecks to anger blacks by flying the Confederate Battle Flag.   Maybe I have the parties backwards.  It was about nonsense nonetheless.

It has come to my attention that there currently rages across the land a new flag-related issue.  This time it concerns the American Flag.  Maybe you’ve heard the news. A group of black (???) students at a Georgia University (always in Georgia, God help us…) decided to walk on the U.S. Flag in protest of … something.  There’s a lot to protest in Amerika today.  I fully understand that.

Those students have drawn considerable protest of their protest.  Also, other students (?) elsewhere have started threading on flags.

flag beard

(Here some bearded yahoo stands on the Flag for something… WDTN.com.)

By the letter of the law (in a book somewhere) this activity is illegal flag desecration. However, the courts have consistently ruled that flag walking (burning, etc.) is free speech protected by the First Amendment.  Remember the First Amendment?  The Constitution?  Rule of law and all that???

I call this post The LESSER American Flag Flap for a reason.  The fact is, all things considered, flag trampling does not overly concern me.  Some of my friends on Facebook see it otherwise.  I have received several requests to condemn these flag protests as a dire threat to everything America allegedly stands for.  I understand this but I am still not concerned.

The protest protesters say things like the following.  Cleetus from Heehaw Junction, West Virginia says, “that thar flag stands for the men who died for our freedoms!”  Lucy Lou from South Hick, Mississippi screams, “theys don’t understand what we has been through as democratic peoples!”  Jethro from the upstate of New York avers: “We have a flag for a democrats.  The country needs a hero.  Yous guys needs to know that the service of the armed forces means more work here.  The terrorists are everywhere!” Well said, Jethro.

I disagree with all of these statements though I respect the sentiment behind them all – except Jethro’s – not sure what he’s rambling about.

Here’s my problem.  Right now, we have a government hell bent on taxing and regulating our people into the grave.  The same government wants to bomb and invade all other peoples on earth.  The police run around murdering people SS style.  There are no jobs.  The children can’t read or eat.  We are beset with hoards of illiterate invaders who are determined to obtain every benefit the welfare office offers.  Bridges are collapsing.  James Brown is dead.  Amidst all this, I’m supposed to be upset because some kid somewhere stepped on a piece of fabric?  I think not.

I just heard the NFL received a 243 page report on Delate-gate.   Tom Brady is in the crosshairs.  Mind you, that’s about 243 more pages than we saw about the 2012 death and destruction at the Benghazi Consulate.

It’s worse.  The head cover-upper of Benghazi is the Democratic front runner for President in 2016.  The leading Republican is a guy named Bush.  See a pattern?

The short, pointless war in Libya was designed solely to steal the soverign wealth fund of that country from the long-suffering people of Libya.  Some $200 Billion dollars worth of funds were whisked out of Libya and into the hands of a British Bank.  No explanation given, no questions asked.  The predicament now over that money is how much our criminal friends at Goldman Sachs were entitled to.

Keep your eye on the soft football, folks.

The crown of insanity sits atop the head of our central imperial government.  Despite robbing a hundred million Americans every year, the IRS still claims you have rights!

IMG_20150506_141614198

(The Tax Slave Bill of Rights.  IRS/Morgoth.)

Ten rights to be exact.  Do not confuse these with the defunct Bill of Rights which once accompanied the charter of the Mordor on the Potomac.  The tenth “right” brought laughter to my lips: The right to a fair and just tax system!  I tell you that no such thing exists in nature or in fiction.  The system is place is plain but in no way fair.  You simply pay what they tell you or they seize your property and put you in jail.  Resist and they will do away with you.  Just, huh?

Maybe I’m wrong.  Maybe a little more respect for flags and footballs is all necessary to cure the ills of the free world.  Maybe the sun will rise in the West tomorrow.

Anti-Family Law

By training and trade I are an attorney.  That’s fancy talk for a lawyer.  That’s a nice word for a “scummy, lying, used car selling, dirtbag.”  Sorry, my lawyering friends, we all know it’s true.

More specifically, I am (or was) (or still kinda am) a litigation attorney.  That means a lawyer who specializes in lying in court.  I am proud to say that I never ever lied to any court or anyone else I dealt with intentionally.  The problem is that attorneys have clients for whom they work.  And, occasionally, such a client will lie to his attorney.  The hapless attorney, believing in his lying client’s veracity, will repeat the lie(s) to others – the other “side,” the judge, etc.  The attorney usually becomes aware of the lie when it is exposed in Court when someone identifies it as a lie and proceeds to use the lie as a basis to destroy the hapless attorney’s case.  At this point the attorney feels like mud.

Why do I write this, you ask?  This is common knowledge to everyone except attorneys fresh from law school and perhaps some of the professors they left behind.  Jesus admonished us to simply let what we say be the truth, echoing His Father’s ninth commandment.  If everyone would follow this simple rule, the world  would be a better place.  Obviously though, people have a hard time with simple instructions.  My point is coming soon I think…

The attorney repeating the lie scenario unfolds in all types of cases: criminal, civil, administrative, and family law.  It seems to me family law litigants are a little more prone to this self-defeating propensity.  Or, it could be that I feel that way because I disliked family law more than other type of practice.  I think that was my point.

Anyway, what is family law?  It occurs to me that some folks are lucky enough to have lived their lives without resort to “domestic” litigation.  Blessed they are.  “Family law” merely means that branch of our sacred profession which deals with the family unit or what’s left of it.  You may be more familiar with the individual case types: divorce, child custody, adoption, etc.  Of all these, adoptions are the happiest occasions for an honest attorney.  This is mainly due to the fact that rather than destroying a family, an adoption enlarges and enriches a family.  Absent very unusual circumstances, everyone leaves an adoption final hearing happy.

As a law clerk I was in charge of the adoption docket for my judge (Frank C. Mills was probably the best trial judge in Georgia until he retired).  It was my job to make sure each case was within the somewhat rigorous statutory guidelines.  Every once in a while I had to inform the adopting party that they needed to modify something.  Then the case sailed smoothly through.  Out of dozens or scores of these cases I only remember one or two that were contested for any reason.  I especially loved cases involving the adoption of one or more small babies.  Everyone loves babies.  It was great to think I played a part in making a child’s life a little happier.

This joyous feeling carried over into my private general practice.  Sadly, I only had the honor of presenting a few such harmonious cases.  I recall several clients I had to inform that they did not have standing to bring an adoption.  Those were rare and odd cases.  Somehow, my practice degenerated into one of mostly rare, odd cases.  What did come my way in large volume were the other types of “family law.”

At some point I began to refer to these cases as “anti-family law.”  The reason being that in almost all of them, a family was destroyed.  As a libertarian who really wants to be a full blown anachist (or visa versa) I do not think the government has any business meddling in family affairs – no marriage licences, no court divorces, no government interference of any kind.  According to the Catholic Church and some protesting denominations, marriage is a sacrament and not merely a right or a privilege.  Thus, domestic affairs are divine in nature and transcend the authority of any earthly power to regulate (in theory).  People began marrying (and divorcing) many millenia before any of the 50 states came into being let alone when they suddenly decided to commence issuing licenses for the procedure.  The history of this state-i-fication is as nefarious as any other state scheme.

My statist-minded detractors counter that without government ordination and oversight family affairs would soon fall into pure chaos.  Most of these clovers have obviously never practiced anti-family law.  The remainder must be hardened divorce attorneys whose livelihoods depends on the destruction of other people’s lives.  WE HAVE PURE, MISERABLE CHAOS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Where was I, my blood pressure spiked and I lost my train of thought…  Oh yes, I wrote a post yesterday which partly addressed the safety of children.  I suppose this drew the attention of About the Children, LLC, an advocacy center dedicated to improving family relations ( and child welfare) post divorce.  I was pleased they liked my mad ramblings and so I commented positively on their website.  I am a generously reciprocal rambler.

Such advocacy groups are desperately needed given the chaos of the modern Amerikan family.  I suppose you, the well educated reader, do not need to be bombarded with the statistics about divorce, out of wedlock births, deadbeat everyones, etc.  Someone must stand up for the innocent in these cases – usually minor children.  Children are the biggest losers in anti-family law cases and, sadly, there are no winners.

I only ever had one “uncontested” divorce case which actually was.  The young happy couple came in hand in hand.  I thought they wanted a will or something.  In less than two hours a divorce petition was off to court.  Thirty days later they were happily divorced best friends.  I had never seen such.  And, it did not last.  It turns out one of them had an ulterior motive and the friendship was lost.  I think the blame fell on their hapless attorney.

As my best case ended poorly I decided that I was not suited for anti-family law.  I did not decide after that case but after many, many more less-than-best scenarios unfolded.  Lying in court and the general shenanigans which go with these cases are far from the worst problems I saw.  People in these situations get very irrational and I remember more than a few death threats flying around.  Fortunately, none were carried out.  Several suicides were though.  Children who are not otherwise scarred for life thanks to their parents selfish stupidity don’t seem to do well in the aftermath of the death of one of those parents.  One suicide sometimes leads to another.

I had enough of the madness and bowed out, sad for the part I played in the system.  I supposed I did some service for a few folks.  Some people need to be divorced.  Sometimes children are better off with only one parent.  And, so on.  I still have some of the mud on me.  What suggestions do I offer to correct this insane abuse of human rights and dignity.  None.  Except that I urge all who read these words to use a little more common sense (free from emotion and greed) in dealing with their spouse, baby-daddy, children, or whoever.  Even in my ideal, government-free paradise I suspect these problems would still exist.  History says they always have existed.  I ask you, dear readers, to be the change for a brighter future.
