Best of luck to the field. Y’all have a grand time. And let’s not forget the other “Par Three” festivities at the tent, tonight.

Active Shooter at YouTube HQ

In progress now.

“Another law enforcement source confirms to ABC7 News reporter Dan Noyes that the shooter is a white, adult female wearing a dark top and head scarf.”

Almost all such shooters are initially reported as “white” though not usually female. Head scarf? Odd.

Is this the Digital Jihad ISIS called for?

Could it be a distraught woman who had too much of the SJW policies of big tech?

Could it be the SJWs of big tech?

Though they may get the blame this is probably not Dana Loesch and the NRA.

Developing…

UPDATE: Or it could be DV. Reports have it a woman entered YTHQ, shot her boyfriend, and then killed herself. Thank God for VAWA. Probably closed case but developments possible…

IQ and DNA, The Genetic Link

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

It’s funny almost. There are so many ways to look at the following story from MIT Tech Review. The average IQ of a group or society is kind of important. It kind of bears on how well, how advanced than group or society does or becomes. The “G” factor and all else is as natural, atavistic, and genetic as any physical marker. People have known (or suspected) this forever. Now it’s hard science:

For decades genetic researchers have sought the hereditary factors behind intelligence, with little luck. But now gene studies have finally gotten big enough—and hence powerful enough—to zero in on genetic differences linked to IQ.

A year ago, no gene had ever been tied to performance on an IQ test. Since then, more than 500 have, thanks to gene studies involving more than 200,000 test takers. Results from an experiment correlating one million people’s DNA with their academic success are due at any time.

The discoveries mean we can now read the DNA of a young child and get a notion of how intelligent he or she will be, says Plomin, an American based at King’s College London, where he leads a long-term study of 13,000 pairs of British twins.

Plomin outlined the DNA IQ test scenario in January in a paper titled “The New Genetics of Intelligence,” making a case that parents will use direct-to-consumer tests to predict kids’ mental abilities and make schooling choices, a concept he calls precision education.

As of now, the predictions are not highly accurate. The DNA variations that have been linked to test scores explain less than 10 percent of the intelligence differences between the people of European ancestry who’ve been studied.

Okay, it’s a hardening science. DNA is still relatively new as a measurement subject, a novelty we’re still grappling with. The DNA-IQ link is brand, spanking new, subject to bugs. But those will be worked out – for better or for worse.

Current inaccuracy aside, some have legitimate concerns about the new testing:

Several educators contacted by MIT Technology Review reacted with alarm to the new developments, saying DNA tests should not be used to evaluate children’s academic prospects.

“The idea is we’ll have this information everywhere you go, like an RFID tag. Everyone will know who you are, what you are about. To me that is really scary,” says Catherine Bliss, a sociologist at the University of California, San Francisco, and author of a book questioning the use of genetics in social science.

“A world where people are slotted according to their inborn ability—well, that is Gattaca,” says Bliss. “That is eugenics.”

Several of my buzz words were hit upon right there.

The above-cited funniness comes from the cultural ramifications. Most people, centered up in that great parabolic shape, just don’t care about this stuff. Smarter people on the right … uh … maybe aren’t that smart. And they may suffer from spinal deformities. It’s some on the left who give us the delightful humor.

Some – not all – on the left claim to love science, logic, and reason. That is, they love it until the science interrupts the narrative. We are not, it seems, all the same. One can almost see this just by looking. The lust for scientific truth ends when it suggests as much as the eyes sometimes do. DNA says a lot. Some don’t want it heard. It’s like they don’t appreciate free speech. Turns out they don’t.

You surely recall The Bell Curve by Charles Murray. Murray was ahead of his time, a generation earlier than the new tests. His work examined the means and ends of IQ differences. Some rejected his findings and opinions. Murray tries to speak to college audiences only to be shouted down and run off by militant leftists. What, exactly, happened to the Spirit of Berkeley?

I happen to share the deep, genuine concerns about eugenics. I have no idea whether Catherine Bliss fits the bill but many on the left, while decrying potential eugenics in some areas of social order, happily support actual eugenics in other areas. Margaret Sanger’s ideas and procedures came from somewhere.

Anyway, for now this science is developing. I would not recommend running to any new site for testing, for you or your children. I smell snake oil from these start-ups. Too soon. But it will evolve. If you’re curious, then make sure to cross-reference the DNA results with a reliable, full battery from an established source (Stanford Binet or Wechsler).

Even the older, normed assessments are not fool-proof. Remember that, whatever score one gets, it is a general indicator. It measures raw ability and potential. It’s a good overall estimate but: *Actual performance may vary.* Exceptions may be found anywhere in the curve. Oddities manifest oddly at both ends.

Whether DNA or test-based, the exceptions, oddities, and generality should dictate a little caution. Persons, high, low, and average, should be left free to attempt fulfillment of and to the best of their abilities. The potential problem, within and without eugenic concern, is the potential mandating of class or tenure based upon initial scoring. That kind of central planning is one of the unproductive hallmarks of some on the left. Funny?

Gun Control in Action! London Tops NYC in Murders

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

You read that right. I know, I know, it’s hard to believe. The JP Stevenses of the underworld would have us believe that gun control fixes crime. So, when a HIGHLY gun controlled place like London, England tops an evil, NRA-controlled city like New York, something must be off, right?

According to a report by the Sunday Times, New York City’s murder statistics have decreased by 87 per cent since the 1990s.

Meanwhile, London’s rate has grown by nearly 40 per cent in just three years, not including deaths caused by terrorist attacks.

Although New York last year had nearly double the number of murders than London, experts are concerned the gap is steadily closing.

Officials are concerned about the uptick in fatal stabbings, fearing there is a dangerous surge in knife crime.

Last year there was a total of 80 fatal stabbings in the capital – the most in almost a decade. And official figures show that 2017 was the worst year for knife deaths among young people since at least 2002.

Forty-six people aged 25 or under were stabbed to death in London, up by 21 compared with the previous year, according to police figures.

From Vox Day:

London’s murder rate has overtaken New York City’s numbers for the first time ever, according to a new report.

February marked the first month in history books that London had more murders than the American city with a total of 15 homicides. Out of the 15 killed, nine were aged 30 or younger.

In March, there were 22 murders, which is likely to match if not beat out New York’s numbers.

The victims:
Sadiq Mohamed, 20, Kentish Town
Abdikarim Hassan, 17, Kentish Town
Josef Boci, 30, Greenwich
Seyed Khan, 49, Ilford
Rotimi Oshibanjo, 26, Southall
Promise Nkenda, 17, Canning Town
Sabri Chibani, 19, Streatham Common
Lewis Blackman, 19, Kensington
Hasan Ozcan, 19, Barking
Hannah Leonard, 55, Swiss Cottage
Kwabena Nelson, 22, Tottenham
Mark Smith, 48, Chingford
Bulent Kabala, 41, Enfield
Saeeda Hussain, 54, Ilford
Juan Olmos Saca, 39, Peckham

All normal, traditional Anglo-Saxon names, eh? Okay, “Mark Smith” or “Hannah Leonard” could be anyone, recent immigrants even. But I see a trend.

The PC Wave. Daily Mail.

There’s a reason they call it Londonistan. The city population is comprised literally half by foreigners, complete with a foreign, Muslim mayor (whom I originally tried [in vain] to give the benefit of the doubt). Surprisingly, many peoples from the third world bring their backwards, violent ways with them when the move into new territory. It’s like genetic or something.

It’s harder to get guns in NYC than most American cities. But one can get them. In London, and most of the UK, it’s nearly impossible. Funny how criminals immediately turn to other tools. It’s almost like the guns aren’t the problem. And the names….

And, yes, they’ve floated knife control there too. They’ve pretty much outlawed self-defense. The real British people are the real victims.

And in America, people like David “Not a Crisis Actor” Hogg and John Paul “The Relic” Stevens, want to do the same thing to real Americans. They want our safe nation torn apart by increased violence. They don’t want a discussion; they want gun control, guns banned. They want to rob you and leave you more likely to be murdered. They’re the same sort who want to import more killers too.

Worst of all, these Hellish liars and thieves want to leave you defenseless before the whims of whatever tyranny “their” government can devise. Honestly, they’re about as American as most of the above-named decedents were English.

This is what I promised yesterday. It’s what really happens when you give up the guns while embracing the “blessings” of globalism. It’s done in England and it can happen in the US.

But, in England, there is a ready solution, should one single Briton choose it. I challenge her to do so for the sake of her people. Queen Elizabeth possesses extraordinary powers. These have historically been shelved by a popular Monarch content with the civil order of society.

Things have changed and to a point suggestive of emergency action. Therefore, pursuant to her Royal Prerogatives, I urge the Queen to immediately:

  • Terminate all gun controls;
  • Arm her people;
  • Seize all assets of fake Britons, gun control advocates, and assorted globalist trash;
  • Deport or imprison all fake Britons, gun control advocates, and assorted globalist trash; and
  • Dismiss, arrest, and severely punish any: Prime Minister, Commoner or Lord, Judge, Mayor, media figure, or anyone else who attempts to interfere with the foregoing.

Make England Great Again. Make it free and safe.

Hogg Scratch Fever

Hello and Happy Easter!

This being the first of April I had wanted to play some sort of April Fool’s joke. Time being what it is, and this being Easter, I give you the most foolish thing I could quickly think of: this picture of popular star, influencer, and media darling, David Hogg (who most definitely is NOT a crisis actor):

david_hogg_getty

The Hill.

Young Hogg has unwisely drawn the ire of Ted Nugent. The Motor City Madman deemed the constant, whiny, and orchestrated attacks by Hogg and his troupe, “ignorant and dangerously stupid … soulless.”

I don’t think the standard SJW shriek and swarm tactics will work on Ted. They did work on Laura Ingraham, who is going on a “planned” vacation following the departure of over a dozen of her advertisers. That happened because of Hogg’s hissy fit.

So, this guy wants the spotlight when it’s convenient for the cause (of spreading communism) but not when it cues someone else’s free speech. The left used to be big on free speech. Remember that? Berkeley? Yeah. Now, offend their tiny sensibilities and off with your career. That’s what he’s doing: a woman, a single mother no less, speaks her mind, and he tries to get her show and livelihood destroyed. His rabble on Twitter are more than happy to play along. This is America?

Everyone plays along: adherence to the narrative. Predictable, preventable, lamentable school shooting. Hogg. Complete abdication of the facts and statistics. March for Our Lives. Actually, it wasn’t all scheduled in that order. The March, says the Metro DC Police, was scheduled “several months prior” with “several months of planning.”

DZk-JFUW0AAOMyd

MPD.

I thought the Florida shooting, ONE month earlier, proximately caused the March. Several months?

Make that several years of planning, decades even. This has been an ongoing movement since long before Hogg (or I) was born. He’s playing right into it nicely. Just as these lowlifes are happy to steal a single mother’s employment (Hey! Where’s NOW and the #metoo brigade??), they’ll be just as happy to steal the AR-15s, other firearms, Second Amendment, and freedoms of all Americans. I imagine the theft would continue thereafter. That’s what serial thieves do.

At least this troupe is entertaining, with the marches, magazines, and hysteria. But it’s still just Petrushka agitprop for the numbed masses. ‘Merica.

Tomorrow! A fun look at what happens to your Capital’s murder rate once the good subjects are disarmed. Stay tuned. Happy April.

Musical BONUS!

John Paul Stevens and John Paul Jones have similar names. I think they’re about the same age too. Anyway, with so many apologies to the great Johnny Horton:

John Paul Stevens was a communist,

and a communist was he.

He lied over here,

and he drooled over there.

And he didn’t want Americans free.

Hell to Pay? What Now Passes for Canon Christiana?

Being the resident Catholic at the cigar shop I was bound to be asked about this allegation. I was asked by one of several Baptist preacher friends as it turned out.

Does Pope Francis Think There is No Hell?

In another interview with his longtime atheist friend, Eugenio Scalfari, Pope Francis claims that Hell does not exist and that condemned souls just “disappear.” This is a denial of the 2,000-year-old teaching of the Catholic Church about the reality of Hell and the eternal existence of the soul.

The interview between Scalfari and the Pope was published March 28, 2018 in La Repubblica. The relevant section on Hell was translated by the highly respected web log, Rorate Caeli.

First things first: this place, perrinlovett.me, is no longer a mere blog; it’s a highly respected web log. Get that straight. I may add that to the subtitle…

Second, wow, okay…

Please read on through the link for the Vatican’s response. They say, the Pope says, the report is false and the relevant quote was taken out of context. That may be. It is supposed that the translator/publisher has it out for His Eminence. That also may be. Much may be.

As important as this topic is, or seems, Ecclesiastically speaking, I honestly had not put much thought into it. I’m trying here; bear with me…

Assuming the worst, that the quote is correct and does adequately convey the Pope’s thought, then the matter still does not directly affect God The Father, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, nor the independent relationship of the faithful with The Trinity. It would, however, throw one helluva (pseudo-pun) into the expected, mandated guidance from the Church. The worst being true would amount to a betrayal of the past 2,000 years, and of Jesus. That, bad as it would be, could be cured. But, wow … lamentable is not even the word.

Back to not making assumptions terminal in nature: the remark, true or not, was a remark to a friend. It is not Canon nor does it invoke Papal Infallibility. The Vatican’s response seems to bear that part out.

I’ll just add that the choice of this particular friend, an atheist friend, is interesting. “There is no Hell” sounds like something an atheist would say and accept. It’s not Catholic. It’s not Christian. It’s not even of any “faith” at all.

The concern is that Francis is an Anti-Pope, one destroying, or trying to destroy, the Church. If that’s the case, there is a remedy for it. I really do rely of Christ’s assurance to Peter that Hell (must exist, huh?) shall not prevail. However, as I’ve noted before, that doesn’t mean the Devil won’t try. I’m not sure that we have at hand an Anti-Pope (let alone an Anti-Christ). I am sure this Pope from time to time strains the patience.

Just as his choice of confidants is a little telling so is his previously expressed philosophy. The latter would almost seem more like communism, globalism, post-modern worldy-ism, even, yes, atheism, than Christianity and adherence to Western Civilization. In one, brief juxtaposed example: the current Bishop of Rome chastises gun owners in America for crimes they did not commit while, simultaneously and seemingly, ignoring crimes committed all around the V.C. Do as I say, not necessarily as we do here at Saint Peter’s

Again it tries the patience. I, being so tried, and tired from it, turn this over to Pat Buchanan, who luckily put more thought into it all that I have:

Did the soul of Judas, and those of the monstrous evildoers of history, “just fade away,” as Gen. Douglas MacArthur said of old soldiers? If there is no hell, is not the greatest deterrent to the worst of sins removed?

What did Christ die on the cross to save us from?

If Francis made such a statement, it would be rank heresy.

Had the pope been speaking ex cathedra, as the vicar of Christ on earth, he would be contradicting 2,000 years of Catholic doctrine, rooted in the teachings of Christ himself. He would be calling into question papal infallibility, as defined in 1870 by the Vatican Council of Pius IX.

Questions would arise as to whether Francis is a true pope.

So many questions. This one is definitely going to develop further. We have one damnable mess on our hands. (Done with puns now). I, as leader of this Highly Respected Web Log, actaully dispatched, this Friday, an agent to Rome – though I fear his investigation will probably center more on local eateries and smoke shops.

And thank you, Brother, for the prayers. We need them.

Laura Ingraham apologized to David Hogg.

“On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland,” Ingraham said on Twitter. “For the record, I believe my show was the first to feature David immediately after that horrific shooting and even noted how ‘poised’ he was given the tragedy. As always he’s welcome to return to the show anytime for a productive discussion.”

Ingraham, a staunchly pro-Trump commentator, came under fire on Wednesday, when she tweeted out a story from the right-wing website Daily Wire about Hogg’s rejection from four different colleges.

“David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it,” she said. “(Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)”

The backlash was swift and widespread, and Ingraham was denounced for ridiculing a teenager and survivor of a mass shooting.

I did not know that Ingraham had offended Hogg, whom I refer to as “Young Hogg” and who is most certainly NOT a crisis actor. I also did not know he was rejected from four colleges. That really is a shame – especially if he has a 4.1 GPA. (Still trying to get my head around GPAs North of 4.0. Progress?)

Survivor. Backlash. Jumbled scripts. Interviews. Apologies. Blah, blah, blah.

I’ll remind Young Hogg that the same kinds of people who push gun control in America are the very same kinds who will happily deny a promising, 4.1 GPA’d white male student a place in a university. That’s not how diversity works these days. As a bonus reminder to Ingraham, the same types frequently deny all things Holy, the Week included. This almost makes perverse sense: no right to bear arms; no right to higher education. It’s really an education in itself. For those who will see it.

nimbus-image-1522425256272

At first I thought this was an Oscar ballot… Young Hogg/Twitter.

When it comes to robbing Americans of their rights, Hogg, being young and impressionable, usable even, is forgivable like so many of his class. To a point. He’s a younger version of those like JP Stevens and Larry King (Zieger) – of a class not so easily forgiven.

First he says he was at Parkland (Douglas), hiding in a closet, camera in hand, during the shooting. Then he said he was at home a few miles away, returning with camera once he found out about the shooting. Either way I’ll give him the cherished label of “victim” – close enough.

But he runs dangerously close to becoming a perpetrator when he pushes the communist narrative of disarmament on the masses. Victims can victimize too.

So, who really owes whom an apology in all of this?

I’m neither looking to give one nor receive one. Pick a number? I’ll go with 2, as in Second.

‘She Knew’ … Noor Salman Update

It appears this was another case of horribly sloppy police work from America’s “preeminent” law enforcement agency. Astounding: Statement from the Jury Foreman:

[…] “I want to make several things very clear. A verdict of not guilty did NOT mean that we thought Noor Salman was unaware of what Omar Mateen was planning to do. On the contrary we were convinced she did know. She may not have known what day, or what location, but she knew. However, we were not tasked with deciding if she was aware of a potential attack. The charges were aiding and abetting and obstruction of justice. I felt the both the prosecution and the defense did an excellent job presenting their case. I wish that the FBI had recorded their interviews with Ms. Salman as there were several significant inconsistencies with the written summaries of her statements. The bottom line is that, based on the letter of the law, and the detailed instructions provided by the court, we were presented with no option but to return a verdict of not guilty.”

Conservatives, liberals, voters: I present you with “your” government. And, actually, a decent, by the letter jury. Doubly astounding.
