The answer is clear: we must enact common sense controls on rental pickups. Only the police and military need such large, high-capacity delivery vehicles.

Blue Tarp Village: My Recollection of the Great Dunwoody Tornado of 1998

≈ Comments Off on Blue Tarp Village: My Recollection of the Great Dunwoody Tornado of 1998

Running short on energy and material this evening I recalled the following. It’s one of those Perrin Time Machine bits – though it never got the traction last year. Let’s see how it does now. PSA: my strategy of going to sleep isn’t proper tornado survival for the masses. Take cover or something.

perrinlovett's avatarPERRIN LOVETT

Yesterday I wrote a commissioned piece about surviving tornadoes. I suppose it will get published this week or next – no link as of yet. I survived a tornado and I briefly included my experience in the story. Here, in greater detail, is what I remember.

It was the late evening of Wednesday, April 8, 1998. I lived in Dunwoody, just outside Atlanta. I was returning from a date with a pretty girl in neighboring Gwinnett County. I was rather happy, blissful even, otherwise I might have heeded the weather. There was nothing wrong per se but I should have noticed the strange signs of a storm approaching.

The sky as I recall was an electric neon color. The night sky in any big city has an artificial glow but this one was different. There was an odd pink/purple hazy too it. There was also a strange, near ominous feeling…

Again Through the Roof: an American Cover-up

25 Monday Sep 2017

Over two years ago lowlife white racist Dylan Roof walked into a black church in Charleston, SC and shot a group of black Christians. Then, I pondered the meaning of the tragedy. I stand by that post.

The same exact thing happened again this past weekend. Well, there were a few differences. The church was in Tennessee, not South Carolina. The Christian victims were white this time. The lowlife racist was black. Other than that it was pretty much the same story. Oh, and there’s the fact that this may be the first time you’ve heard about it.

TN Suspect Charged with Murder.

Suspect Sudanese radical.

nimbus-image-1506370733837

Emanuel Kidega Samson, murderous, racist invader and psycho.

Better ban the Confederate flag again. Tear Robert E. Lee off his statutory horse. More university classes on white guilt. Oh … yeah…

No, this case does not fit the narrative. And there is a narrative our “elites” push. This one does not fit, so it is ignored. There are many, many more like it. It doesn’t even fit the gun control sub-narrative. Here, yet again, the bad guy with a gun was stopped by a good guy with a gun. To the MSM memory hole!

A person of conscious doesn’t want anyone harmed, black, white, or green. There’s the old live and let live thing. There’s a reason why no mainstream media outlets are running this story 24/7 and that no prominent politicians or celebrities have spoken out about it. They don’t care. It’s not that, to the MSM, #WhiteLivesDon’tMatter … Well, maybe it is.

Their cause this week centers on black millionaires and their horrible struggle to find meaning in an unjust nation. For example: they have to live with the knowledge that millions of average whites pay their million dollar salaries while cheering for them to play a game. It’s must be a dreadful life.

The only good thing about stories like this is that they reveal the charlatans for who and what they really are – for those still capable of seeing. The media, the pols, the “elites,” the celebrity trash, the overgrown child’s game players – turn them off.

Dylan Rook is on death row. Emanuel Samson should join him. Monsters like that we can stand to be rid of. If you care anything about people, any people or all people, then consider that the time has come to also get rid of the other monsters.

With the culture war, as long as they cover up, the casualties keep going up.

There. Done. I in no way meant this post as a distraction from your offense at or defense of the NFL, MLB, the NBA, NASCAR, or any of that other important stuff.

Was it the Swamp, the Drain, or the Plumber?

Donald Jeffries speculates that the Trump phenomenon may well be over – if it was ever real to begin with.

…

At this point, the only question I have left in my mind is whether or not Trump ever had any sincerity, or whether he ever meant anything he said during his campaign. I think it’s virtually a certainty that we will never see that vaccine-autism commission, an audit of the fed, a massive infrastructure rebuild, an end to DACA or any other aspect of our mindless immigration policy, an end to our reckless foreign adventurism, or a draining of even the shallowest part of the swamp.

The saddest part of the Trump phenomenon is that it may very well make it impossible for any major candidate to ever raise the important issues of immigration, dishonest media, putting America first, or official corruption ever again. In fact, when some candidate even alludes to some of Trump’s populist themes, he or she is likely to be met with derisive comparisons to the failed and disgraced President Donald Trump.

If Trump was ever sincere, his election has proven that one person simply cannot fight this corrupt system, this horrid swamp. Trump the reformer, the unlikeliest of knights in shining armor, is gone. The renegade billionaire striking fear into the heart of the establishment lasted a brief shining moment, like Camelot.

Some regs have been cut and a few nice speeches given. What else?

Hillary? Still on this side of the prison wall.

Wall? Where? When? Who’s paying?

The immigrant invasion? DACA = Amnesty on steroids.

Tax reform? DOA. Maybe a few breaks or a “rebate” or something.

Obamacare? Hahahaha…

Auditing the Fed? Uh, no…

Reigning in the debt? No, it’s raining debt.

Federal spending? To the moon.

Moon program? So 1960’s.

Neocons running the show. Check, check, and check.

War and foreign meddling? Yuuuge!

Infrastructure? Crumbles and ages.

Second official look at Tower 7? Don’t be crazy.

America first? Well, Washington firstest. New York firstier.

Trump has lived up to his pledge to be the Tweetingest President ever – likely to suffer no rival for decades to comes (assuming we have those).

As Jeffries notes it was a nice thought – the outsider shaking it up and all. Dwindling possibility it could still happen. The next three years will shed more light (or darkness) on the subject. I’ll be back for the next Great Quadrennial Black Mass with more assessments no-one will care to read or understand.

Happy first Full day of autumn!

More War

His first inclination, he said, was to cut the losses. Then, after meeting with the generals, Trump was convinced to carry on America’s longest war:

President Donald Trump opened the door to an increase in U.S. troop numbers in Afghanistan on Monday night as part of a new strategy for the region, arguing against a hasty withdrawal from America’s longest military conflict.

Trump, in a prime-time televised address, said his new approach was aimed at preventing Afghanistan from becoming a safe haven for Islamist militants bent on attacking the United States. He also laid out a tougher approach to U.S. policy toward Pakistan.

The Republican president overcame his own doubts about the war that began in October 2001 after the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. He said repeatedly on the campaign trail last year that the war was too costly in lives and money.

Maybe another 16 years. Or 60. Not feeling to good about this. He did make some good upfront points about national reconciliation. There’s a thought – fix this country first…

In totally unrelated news I shot a video during the Solar Eclipse. That may come forth soon – it’s not that spectacular. It was maybe like early dusk? Meh.

Cigar Survival: Luxury Even In Emergency

The cigar community and the prepper/survivalist community overlap somewhat. I would know; I write professionally for both. Not all preppers smoke cigars but many (a majority maybe) of cigar enthusiasts engage in some form of survival activities whether they think so or not. These tend to be employed or self-employed professionals of one sort or another. Most have something worth protecting. Most are conservative or libertarian leaning.

IMG_20160717_185804433_HDR

I’ve found that gun culture and the cigar hobby are almost synonymous. If you’re in a cigar shop lounge, odds are someone around you is carrying. It’s also likely that someone there is woefully out of shape. A little less food and drink would benefit many the cigar aficionado.

Something else to benefit the clique is a consideration of how the hobby might be impacted by an emergency situation. Everyone enjoys a good cigar or they should. What happens when or if the grid goes…

Rand Paul says the GOP Senate will just Keep ObamaCare

America, GOP, idiots, law, ObamaCare, Rand Paul, Senate

This is the most pitiful crowd of governing idiots ever assembled. Tacitus’s recitation of Tiberius’s mocking condemnation of the Roman Senate seems kind and weak by comparison to what must be said of this rabble.

I miss the old days, when Republicans stood for repealing Obamacare. Republicans across the country and every member of my caucus campaigned on repeal – often declaring they would tear out Obamacare “root and branch!”
What happened?

Now too many Republicans are falling all over themselves to stuff hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ dollars into a bill that doesn’t repeal Obamacare and feeds Big Insurance a huge bailout.

Obamacare regulations? Still here. Taxes? Many still in place, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars.

Insurance company bailouts? Those, too. Remember when Republicans complained about Obamacare’s risk corridors? Remember when we called the corridors nothing more than insurance company bailouts? I remember when one prominent GOP candidate during a presidential debate explicitly called out the Obamacare risk corridors as a bailout to insurance companies. Does anyone else?

Now, the Senate GOP plan being put forward is chock full of insurance bailout money – to the tune of nearly $200 billion. Republicans, present company excluded, now support the idea of lowering your insurance premium by giving a subsidy to the insurance company.

Remarkable. If the GOP now supports an insurance stabilization fund to lower insurance prices, maybe they now support a New Car stabilization fund to lower the price of cars. Or maybe the GOP would support an iPhone stabilization fund to lower the price of phones.

The possibilities are limitless once you accept that the federal government should subsidize prices. I remember when Republicans favored the free choice of the marketplace.

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. I want to repeat that so everyone realizes why I’ll vote “no” as it stands now:

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. Not even close.

In fact, the Senate GOP bill codifies and likely expands many aspects of Obamacare.

…

Thank you, again, Senator Paul. Much like his father and, unfortuantely, probably doomed to Ron’s effectiveness. There is no hope in either conservatism or in the utterly failed GOP.

Rand-Paul-J.-Scott-ApplewhiteAP-640x480

All we have left? Applewhite/AP.

My Republican friends, please, please, please, please remember this (and more) come the next election – I’ll be here to remind you. Kindly retire the mantra that you, “have to vote Republican or else the Democrats will win.” You did and they have. The GOP, by this measure at least, is the worst offender of the two.

Just pathetic. Men not even fit for slavery.

Top Ten Things To Do In The Summer Heat

This isn’t even the hottest summer. But, needing a quick post to keep things going while I beach it, I give you my definitive list of “fun” summer activities from last summer.

perrinlovett's avatarPERRIN LOVETT

Summers in the South are always warm yet often unpredictable. Some are blazing, burning, horribly hot. Others are mild, they pass into Fall with little fanfare. This one is what I call a slow summer; it seemed to ramp itself up out of nowhere and now, barely halfway through, it’s just hot. Constantly hot. 99 degrees with high humidity hot. I am officially over this season and ready for Autumn.

Being as such, I give you a fun list of things to do in the sweltering heat of July and August:

  1. Sweat. A lot. Outside. Inside. Early in the morning. Late in the afternoon. Better drink plenty of water (before it evaporates).
  2. Stay inside all day pretending it’s snowing outside. Yankees have cabin fever. We develop something similar. It’s really not that bad out there but one gets so comfortable in the air-conditioning. Then, stepping outside, it feels so much…
