‘Tis the Season … to be Offended

Christmas, culture, snowflakes, society

John W. Whitehead observes how the SJW’s ramp up the war on Christians and Christmas:

To a nation of snowflakes, Christmas has become yet another trigger word.

The latest Christmas casualties in the campaign to create one large national safe space are none other than the beloved animated classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (denounced for promoting bullying and homophobia) which first aired on television on December 6, 1964, and the Oscar-winning tune “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” (accused of being a date rape anthem) crooned by everyone from Dean Martin to Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel in the movie Elf.

Also on the endangered species Christmas list are such songs as “Deck the Halls” (it supposedly promotes “gay” apparel), “Santa Baby” (it has been denounced for “slut shaming”), and “White Christmas” (perceived as being racist).

One publishing company even re-issued their own redacted version of Clement Clarke Moore’s famous poem “Twas the night before Christmas” in order to be more health conscious: the company edited out Moore’s mention of Santa smoking a pipe (“The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, / And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath.”)

Oh the horror.

I’ve got to do my part to advance the triggering. I’ll get to work on my revised Christmas tunes list (may just run straight YT vids) and my annual homage to Christmas tie season (actually been wearing ’em, sans the pics). Soon. Merry Christmas!

This is from Vancouver, mind you. But, what the heck?

VANCOUVER — As the famous Village People song declares, “Every man wants to be a macho macho man / To have the kind of body, always in demand.” But are “macho macho” mindsets becoming a thing of the past? A new study finds that male millennials are drifting away from stereotypical masculine values.

The research, led by the University of British Columbia, showed that younger men tend to value selflessness, social engagement, and health over traditional male ideals like physical strength and autonomy.

Of course, physique and independence were still prominent values for the 630 Canadian men aged 15 to 29 who took part in the survey, just not as important to participants as selflessness. In fact, selflessness was by far the top-rated male value. Nine in 10 respondents said that men should should help others, and 88 percent of the respondents agreed that men should be open to new ideas, new people, and new experiences. Eight in 10 felt it imperative that a man gives back to his community.

The irony of the Village People quote.

Give back? Without manly men, there would be no communities. No figure in all of history is more selfless than Western Man. There would be no society to engage without him. There would be no modern notion of health without him. The strength and autonomy ensure those other things exist.

Read up and hot the weights. Get in touch with your masculine side, Men of the West. It’s you or no one.

Twelve Percent of American Adults are Healthy

So says a new UNC study, based on five key factors:

The prevalence of what doctors consider good metabolic health is shockingly low in American adults, a new study finds.

Researchers from the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health say that just 12 percent of the country’s adult population is considered metabolically healthy. That means a vast portion of the population is at greater risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, or other dangerous health conditions over time.

The five factors identified as indicators of good or bad metabolic health are: blood glucose, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood pressure, and waist circumference. If adults can maintain optimal levels of these indicators without medication, they are deemed metabolically healthy.

Makes the 70+% obesity thing look tame by compaison.

America, the Outraged

Or, is it America, the outrageous? Or, just the fallen?

Lance Morrow penned an interesting, short op-ed to the WSJ, yesterday, on the new national obsession and condition – hysteria:

Pretty soon absolutely everything becomes an outrage. Anything that isn’t an outrage is Jeb Bush. Complex interactions of outrage from both parties’ bases conjured up the presidency of Donald Trump, who is the mighty Wurlitzer of the art form.

Outrage seems strenuous enough, but in truth it is a lazy habit—spontaneous, fatuous and naive. Organizing a lynch mob is easier—with a surer, immediate and dramatic reward—than conducting a fair trial, which requires the brains and patience of an adult. (The inner terror of Trumpians is that Robert Mueller is a grown-up with brains and patience.) Outrage presents itself as an assertion of conscience, but in practice it mostly bypasses conscience and judgment, and goes straight to self-righteous rage, by way of self-pity.

Outrage may be justified, of course, and redress long overdue. Just as a dose of morphine may be appropriate to help a patient in extreme pain, so with outrage. But like morphine, outrage is widely abused—and addictive. It may wind up becoming frivolous or fraudulent, as in all those “triggers” and “microaggressions.”

Is outrage now an American entitlement, and a permanent state of mind? Black Americans are more entitled to outrage than most, their grievances embedded in history. Are Asian-Americans entitled to be outraged? Some are making that case in their lawsuit over Harvard’s admissions practices—an argument that, in turn, collides with the counterclaims of African-American outrage. Are gay people entitled to be outraged? Are women entitled to be outraged? Who isn’t entitled to be outraged? (White men?)

There is something sinister and corrupt—Maoist—in the habit of assigning people to categories. That was the besetting sin of the 20th century; it was the way of genocide. As people are again consigned to shallow, mutually exclusive categories in this century, it is as if we learned nothing.

A society that goes on in this way will exhaust itself. …

It this case, seemingly, has exhausted itself. Morrow notes that when everything is viewed as an outrageous happening, then the real tragedies – like the railroading of the honest Julian Assange – lose significance. Morrow ponders a cure. Not unsurprisingly, he doesn’t come up with one. Me neither, except, maybe, for two: something beyond unpleasant, like a civil war, or; the very long, slow passage of time.

Before seeking a cure, it might be helpful to identify a cause. America has changed because Americans have changed. By strict definition, they are, now, a small minority of the hominids shuffling about the land. The people, even most of the “good” people have forgotten, written off, or just never read Marcus Aurelius’s admonition against overreaction to stimuli, good or bad. The number of those capable of reading, let alone understanding, Meditations decreases daily.

We have become a nation of fat, stupid, multi-vice addicted, God-eschewing, perpetually adolescent, instant gratification-seeking, lazy, insolent, fractured, and mentally unstable slobs. The populace, as easily frightened as entertained – and loving both, no longer can, or cares to, sort the true from the false, nor the right from the wrong.

For those few who still can, it’s time to do … something. For those many who can’t, well, hey! it’s conference championship weekend! Hubba.

**Note, the first: Thank you for the November visits. With all the changes and the departure of the Farcebook rabble, all of last month’s traffic was close to that of a good week back, say, two years ago. Still, I’m happy, grateful. Better the patronage of the select few than the patronizing of the debased masses.

**Note, the second: Only four ex-Presidents remain in the world. Gone is George Herbert Walker Bush, No. 41. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was surviving a crash landing in the Pacific in 1944. Later, he did damage incalculable to the Old Republic. Read my lips, “Goodbye.”

**Note, the last: Let’s have us a rockin December.

blasphemy, decline, free-speech, make Aliyah already, Nazis, society

Remember that sage advice, given back in the days when Christian sensibilities were under assault in America? Someone wore some hideous or blasphemous slogan on a t-shirt. Avert your eyes. Someone screamed the most debased obscenities imaginable. Avert your ears. The left said free speech had to be protected at all costs, especially outrageous and unpopular speech. And just about any display counted as “speech.” Remember those days?

They’re over. Gone.

A charlatan penned an op-ed for Fake News Network attacking the First Amendment and some American high school boys (bullies love the easy targets, huh?):

A recent incident in Wisconsin, though, is an unsettling reminder that free speech for white supremacy doesn’t necessarily have the intended effect: protecting other kinds of expression. A photo surfaced in mid-November of Baraboo High School boys giving an apparent Nazi salute before their junior prom on the Sauk County Courthouse steps. The Wisconsin school board recently ruled that they could not discipline the students involved because their salute was speech protected by the First Amendment.

Free speech purists claim that Nazi speech must be defended because it is especially controversial, and protecting it therefore also protects less controversial expression. But the school reaction to the Baraboo photo suggests this is not true.

Speech by white people is often seen as unobjectionable, no matter what its content; who you are is more important than what you say. Defending the speech of white kids doesn’t necessarily protect the speech of marginalized people, just as All Lives Matter in a racist society does not in fact mean that Black Lives Matter. Racism is built on inequality and disproportion; you can’t confront it by pretending that we’re all in this together when we manifestly are not.

In fact, in practice free speech for Nazis is often itself a threat to free speech for everyone else, because Nazis use their freedom to violently suppress their opponents. Giving free speech to fascists to rally can reasonably be expected to curtail the free speech rights of other people, which means that organizations like the ACLU, and judges, need to balance interests, rather than just treating free speech for fascists as in itself increasing free speech.

Next, he’ll try to sell us on some speech background checks and databases, speech permits, waiting periods, and general “common sense speech control.”

Nobody likes a Nazi, not the handful of actual relics, unaware of the utter failings of their leftist religion, nor the idiot LARPERs of the alt reich. (Speaking of them … the author’s picture kinda resembles some of their cartoons, IMHO). But, then again, nobody likes communist scum much either. Kissing cousins, those two.

Vox Day was right (again). The free speech movement of the last century was about nothing but weakening Christianity and Western society. That same society the author says has “a racist history and a racist present.” Maybe, in a bid to gift us a better future, he could just avert his eyes or ears and shut the hell up. Or, better yet, get out.

I’m not as upset as some about the vindication of a loser who probably doesn’t deserve it.

Last June, James Livingston, a history professor at Rutgers University, has been at the epicentre of a racism scandal, as on his social media accounts he wrote that he hates white people. The university punished Professor Livingston for violating the institution’s discrimination and harassment policy.

After an investigation into the Rutgers University professor’s social media posts was concluded, the university decided to revoke its earlier imposed sanctions, despite the Rutgers Office of Employment Equity (OEE) had previously confirmed that there were “numerous complaints about the purported racist content of the posts” made by Livingston.

Calling his posts “satirical” criticism, Livingston commented on the Rutgers administration’s decision, expressing his satisfaction by saying “I’m relieved that my right to free speech and my academic freedom have been validated by this retraction.”

During the investigation process, Livingston was represented by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), a civil liberties advocacy group. After reversing Rutgers’ initial decision, Marieke Tuthill Beck-Coon, an official representative of FIRE, issued a statement.

I am so sorry to hear the “man” suffered bad thought at a cafe. One struggles to think of a worse offense against the dignity of mankind. Seriously, free speech and academic freedom are more important now than ever – even for those of limp wrist and weak mind.

He’s even sort of right about while people, for reasons he could not fathom. White people, especially white men, are mostly responsible for the present plight due to their constant bowing down and allowances in the culture wars. This victory provides some cover for those who would still actually fight the good fight.

And … shame, shame on those comfortable cafe talkers. The horror…

"Civil" War, 2033, Atlanta, society

An LA Times story about modern secession in the Deep South carries a message for those who’ll read it:

In what she says is a bid to attract more upscale amenities to this rapidly developing suburb about 20 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta, Consiglio has come up with a controversial plan: to form a new city, Eagle’s Landing, by combining unincorporated pockets of the county with the most affluent parts of the existing city of Stockbridge.

The proposal to form a new city, up for a vote on Tuesday, has roiled Henry County, raising tense debate about racial and economic disparity and voting rights. Once a sleepy rural, predominantly white region, the county has seen an influx of minorities and a solidification of black political power as its population has exploded in recent years. In 1980, whites made up more than 80% of Henry County’s population, but now they have dwindled to less than 50%.

Race, money, power, and fresh farm-to-table. Imagine those and other disuniting factors being acted on and not necessarily with ballots. Imagine it nationwide.

Tick, tick, tick, tick.

2033, America, decline, fake news, lies, society, War

The fake news, as presented by Yahoo!, laments the passing of civil discourse in America. For the record, these folks just parrot the many lies of the other lying liars. As such, they can’t even report the fake news’ fake news without more fake news.

She flipped through television channels and radio stations, scanning from conservative to liberal media, searching for any sign that the polarized nation had finally reached its tipping point.

For days, Elisa Karem Parker had been seeing updates in the news: A pipe bomb sent to liberal political donor George Soros. One delivered to CNN. More to former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other prominent political figures villainized by those on the right — a bizarre plot unfolding just ahead of the midterm election that will decide which party controls Congress.

“It’s like our country is becoming ‘The Hunger Games,'” Parker, who considers herself squarely in the middle of the political divide, told her husband and teenage son over dinner.

“It’s like our country is becoming…” Proper tense, here, is “became.” Maybe if more people had turned off the teevee and paid attention BEFORE we reached the tipping point, something could have been done.

Too little, too late I fear.

cannibalism, Florida, Satanism, schools, society, students

Given all that’s been said about tolerating alternative lifestyles genetics craziness, I don’t see what all the fuss is about in the following Florida story:

Two young girls from Bartow Middle School are accused in a plot to kill fellow classmates.

Bartow police say the brought scissors, knives, and even a pizza cutter to kill and dismember fellow students in the school bathroom Tuesday.

“They wanted to kill at least 15 people and were waiting in the bathroom for opportunity to find smaller kids they could overpower to be their victims,” said Bartow Police Chief Joe Hall.

The girls, 11 and 12 years old, planned, among other acts, to drink the blood of their victims from a goblet, according to investigators.

They told police they came up with the horrific plan over the weekend and were doing it in the name of devil-worship.

I’ve been warning the TPC audience that, after the left adds that “P” to the demented alphabet soup, expect them to move onto to a “C” – as in cannibalism. Here’s proof they’re starting young (with the “P” factor, no doubt…).

Anyway, thank goodness that God has been banished from the public schools. This new alternative, while potentially messier, is so much more hip and progressive.
