Long time been a’bloggin’ here. It all started on a scalding hot June day many … blah, blah, blabbity, blah. (Ironically, today is the hottest day of 2025 so far…) And this year is one when some of the often pondered changes did, in fact, come along. This place is a dot-ME and, once again, a dot-COM. Yay. And there’s now the real and working Author Page. (Quality and presentation will, as always, improve tomorrow…)

The stats: 13 years, 6,500+ ramblings, 40 bazillion words (some nearly coherent), 4 visitors, 3 views, 1 possum, and 19 green space chickens. Yee haw.

Remember this guy? If I recall correctly, this one even predates the blog by a few years and gray hairs:

I started this project in my thirties and now I trudge on deeper into my second half century. (I mean, look at those photos…)

In some ways, 2012 was just yesterday. In others, it was a long time ago. I now offer over 6,500 posts here: some good, some better, some, uh, not so better. Thanks for coming for all these years. And before switching permanently to books (primarily novels), I think there’s still a little gas left in the Old Blog’s tank. Think of the near future as a transition period. I’ve already been scaling back somewhat. That will continue. I’ve added a News Links page to make up for my house reductions, renditions, and other “r” words.

Going to add to these:

Day-to-day postings will become less frequent, as will my columns, essays, and book reviews. Those latter articles will continue here and via my international semi-syndicated network. I fancifully aim for about one per month, but we shall see. Further ahead, look for more short stories, occasional longer essays on important topics of interest to me, and far deeper concentration on novels. I also have a few non-fiction book ideas to get around to. The time has come.

It’s hard to believe, but this “highly respected web log” started on an insanely hot summer day 12 years ago. Hello, and happy anniversary.

Readers may have noticed a slight slowing in things here over the past few months. Look for that to continue. There are many times now when I feel like I’ve said it all, at least in English, and that I’m just phoning it in. I’ve never achieved any great commercial success or notoriety, which is a-okay as it was never expected. If I can recall, the height of daily traffic was around 2016 and the go-go FP days. Not too long ago, I learned my columns are radically more popular outside of the GAE, which also was not that surprising. Still, we’d had 6100+ postings, millions of words (some of them making sense), and zero changes to the original theme and layout. The more things change, the… Here’s to the next dozen! Etc.

This humble little web-log began on a burning hot afternoon in the summer of 2012. There were several false starts. Then, on January 14, 2015, nine years ago today, things began rolling on a regular, semi-professional basis. If I ever achieved coherence, it was purely accidental.

Today, we stand somewhere around 6,000 posts over the past dozen years. It’s not going to be 6000 and out. But there will be a few changes, starting now. I have many things to concentrate on so I will likely reduce the daily postings, especially concerning current events (and double-especially those current events pertaining to the USA). At some point this year, I hope to bring you a major announcement, one that will most likely involve either a bit of a format change here, or the creation of совершенно новый блог! Stay tuned. Boy, do we have a few, here, now and around the corner.

For instance, we just past the 8th anniversary of perrinlovett -dot- me, starting to use the “me”. I’m still waiting on the pirate ransom on -dot- com to come down a little. This marked the beginning of an eight year run of consistency that continues to this very day. It’s also almost the tenth anniversary of the true start here, back in 2013. The old blog’s overall 11th birthday is coming in June. Between now and then, we’ll cross the 10th anniversary of my observations of the 20th anniversary of something else.

Thanks for being along for the ride. We’ve a ways to go yet.

Today, the Old Blog turns Ten!

If you remember this post, then you’ve been around a while and have a good memory:

After the 5,000th post, last month, things have necessarily slowed a bit. The readership had already slowed rather dramatically following my departure from useless social media and the late disruptions in the search engine metrics.

To all of you who have been a part of the show, thank you. Now, we move onward. What’s ahead? Probably not more of the same. There’s still the idea of a column “only” site at a new home. And, I may integrate that concept into a new author landing site. Or something. At any rate, the old blog will hang on as an archive of sorts. There’s plenty here. And, if need be, the archive is mobile. Note: perrinlovett[dot]me is paid through the end of this year. In the event of laziness on my part – circa 2014 – then perrinlovett[dot]wordpress[dot]com will always work.

My take on various matters has changed somewhat; I started writing here at the end of my libertarian phase, progressing into the hard-right Christian and the omni-nationalist. Aside from a technical correction or two, I’ve largely left things as they originally appeared.

There will be, going forward, a much greater concentration on books, especially novels. As-is, I have 3 free ebooks offered under “Books.” So far, they’ve been downloaded a combined total of over 3,150 times. WP didn’t track downloads before 2019, so it is most likely that Perrin On Politics (2015) “sold” an extra 500-1000 free copies, thus bringing the tally to or over 4,000 free book “sales.” These are not “best-selling” figures. However, all three have outperformed the woeful average distribution for all books published in general. Sold Out, my entry in the absurd shortest novel imaginable category, has done so by a factor of about ten. These numbers are on par with my other paid sales. I’m a mediocre-selling author! You’ve doubtlessly received your money’s worth. And, if I had a nickel for every free book given away, I could buy a nice cigar!

Anyway, I recall Vox Day’s final column at WND: 11 Years of Failure. 10, like 11, is a long time. I won’t call if “failure” even as I haven’t really changed much of anything with the past 3 million words or so. Rather, it’s 10 year of entertaining memories.

It all started on June 24, 2012.

The show, of course, really took off four days later. Then it subsided for a short break. Several short breaks later, I kicked it into overdrive, now running in the seventh year of consistent, daily work. Over 4,000 posts later, here we are. As I have hinted at, the volume may decrease going forward – but only to concentrate on greater quality. And selling books, coffee, and prepperware.

Thanks for doing what you do and I’ll see you in the next exciting post!

I was proud and I still am. A LOT developed. More, much more did come. It’s been a blast and a half! But…

Yeah. The whole point of this site was and is to get across my thoughts on preserving freedom and Western Civilization. An in toto review of this past near-decade would indicate total failure regarding that point. This is not the end of the blog. Rather, this is notice that, between the ninth and tenth anniversaries, things will probably change. You’ll know it, etc. I suspect that the daily blogging will subside while the weekly columns continue, perhaps growing. And I would dearly love to concentrate more on fiction. And selling coffee.

Four-thousand posts later, here we are!

It was quite the ride.

No. 1,000 came along in January 2017.

2,000 landed in November 2018.

We hit 3,000 about 14 months ago.

Yes, the postings are generally accelerating. Will 2021 also see the big 5K? Probably not, but one never knows. All we can be sure of is that the show will roll on tomorrow! There’s already a little something scheduled.
