By Process of Elimination

As Seen At TPC.

No, this has nothing to do with last Saturday’s Georgia-Alabama game. I gave my advice in that regard, last fall; though perhaps I should have added the word “taller” in the description under point two. It matters little as it appears that my points were not heeded. No, this column is titled as it is because I wrestled with too many subjects, settling on none. In my defense, I’ve been a little busy with some other things lately and the prospects for this particular work were slightly speculative, even depressing. So! I decided to go with something safe and sound: education.

Rather, this is about IQ, which in turn, is extremely determinative of educational achievement.

Well, shit, this is really a review of a book review, but bear with me.

Coming on October 29, 2020: In the Know: Debunking 35 Myths about Human Intelligence by Dr. Russell T. Warne.

Read, if you will, James Thompson’s review preview at Unz.

Warne is, like my old man was, an educational psychologist. His new book focuses on dispelling popular (and popularly deceptive) myths about psychometrics. That field was my father’s focus from around 1971 until 1989, with most of his major work published during the Seventies, before, I imagine, Warne was born. Some of Dad’s papers are still cited, with The Effect of Violating the Assumption of Equal Item Means in Estimating the Livingston Coefficient (1978) referenced this year (ThaiJo, Thailand, January 2020). Here’s hoping that In the Know enjoys similar longevity along with deeper penetration into the psycho-industrial complex and the surrounding culture. God knows we need it.

As Dutton and Woodley demonstrated in At Our Wits’ End (2018), general intelligence in Western nations is collapsing. IQ being one of the three primary components of a stable, even recognizable society, this is just a wee bit important. Yet, in defiance of measured statistical reality, the usual suspects continue to parrot nonsense such as “g doesn’t exist,” or “it’s environmental, socio-economic,” or “IQ is a social construct.” Enough. It would be more accurate to say that society is an IQ construct.

Warne’s attempt to correct the falsehoods is admirable. However, and I’m sure he’s aware, those misstatements are largely intentional. In fact, they are part and parcel with the overall scheme to destroy Western Civilization via mass deception, mass coercion, and mass demographic upheaval. One such lie is well addressed by a quick summary in Thompson’s article:

[Myth] 4 Intelligence Is a Western Concept that Does Not Apply to Non-Western Cultures

…

If intelligence really varies in character between different cultures, then it should be very difficult to extract the “Western” general factor, yet in 31 countries, and using a wide variety of tests, 94 of the 97 (96.9%) samples produced g either immediately or after a second factor analysis. Moreover, the g factor is about as strong in the non-Western samples as it is in typical Western samples. Most countries find “Western” intelligence tests very useful, once they have been translated and some language and specific knowledge items altered or removed. To cap it all, dogs, rats, mice, donkey and primates show g factors. It looks like an evolutionary adaptation.

This cultural apologist claptrap is akin to saying that gravity doesn’t apply in Africa because of Newton. As Warne correctly notes, IQ testing and the understanding of the testing process and the precision of the test results rank as the most mathematically-certain facet of psychology and, in fact, all of the social sciences. But, again, at the higher, motivated levels, the truth doesn’t matter. They know, they’re just pushing the devil’s agenda anyway.

They’re throwing out the tests – just like I did. When your father studied IQ statistics for a living and regularly reviewed, normed, or re-normed IQ tests, who do you think was usually the first test subject? This also goes for your father’s faculty colleagues and graduate students. Yeah. Having completed MORE THAN A FEW Wechsler and Stanford-Binet batteries, I know something about them. Having lived decades among the various-leveled denizens of the bell curve, I can attest to the inherent accuracy in the assessments; in the wild, I can sense it and almost see it.

I had a small collection of various versions of the tests. I had them. During the … great restructuring, they became casualties like so many tools, books, furniture articles, and other weighty items. I feel poorly about it all, but I have an excuse. The globo educrats and warped SJWs, as part of the complete destruction of systemic education in the fading US, threw out (or, are throwing out) the testing process, without excuse or good cause. They know what they’re doing and I know why. We all do. If you’re out to wreck something like a university, but your useful hordes cannot on their own gain admission, then the first step is to replace reliable metrics with those more touchy and feely. Cue Carlin: “Pretty soon all you’ll need to get into college is a pencil.” That’s a battle for another book, or rather, that’s a battle for unschooling, homeschooling, and general autodidacticism.

At any rate, consider buying this book next week and reading it. Then, you can use the presented rebuttals, casually, with those who innocently share the misunderstandings. Every little helps. The ultimate fallback of the defenders of ignorance is always baseless name-calling. Be ready for that – rhetoric with rhetoric, when or where necessary.

And, the necessary when and where for next week, especially for the TPC crowd, will be some fall holiday-themed fiction! Just so you’re in the know: it’ll be spooky fun.

Starring me, and not the AI bot!

It’s a simple primer on the coming potential unrest (civil war) in the US – the kind to make 2020 look tame and possibly put an end to the Union, which kind of has to happen anyway.

It is what it is, but I’m told it comes off as pretty decent. See what you think:

PODCAST:

I suppose it’s coming … HERE.

SNAPPY EDITED VIDEO VERSION:

As always, the quality will improve tomorrow. And I am drafting out my full thoughts on the calamity. It’s not pleasant, but it should if ever published, be comprehensive. More, then.

I called this one pretty well.

Yeah, so last night, UGA gave it up to Alabama for the sixth time in a row, most likely ending the Dawgs’ hopes for a national title. They only dropped one place and statistically still have a shot, but let’s be realistic. Anyway, a little over a year ago, I offered some observations about how to turn a perenially good team into the best. Needless to say, those points were roundly ignored.

Enter the CoronaHax, and I made a prediction or three about this season – back in May.

At long last, this will be the season that the annual meeting of the UGA Next Year Club will be held via Zoom. I figure that, if the season even starts, it will end 4 and 2, with the telethon to happen on or around Tuesday, October the 13th. It’ll be like the union of also-rans who proudly disclaim 2/3rds of their national championships with a technology built more for porn hacking than for conferencing. I’m excited.

I got the date within a week and without knowing about the ten-game shakeup and so forth. I’m still excited though I can’t attend the meeting. Sorry. Without me, proceed with all the “Gosh darn it! We jus needs to keep a doin what we doin a little harder, thas awe!” Assuming it lasts, it will be a very good (not great) season. Just like next year.

Never forget your keys! But, if it’s “their” lock, then you can usually forget about it – and be happy in doing so. Vox Day, whose blog just past 200 Million visitors(!), made some recent observations about the limitations placed by the world on those who are not of the world.

YOU HAVE NO CHANCE

If you are a good person, if you are a moral person, if you are a Christian, you are not going to be allowed to succeed in the system past a certain level. It’s just not going to happen. But it’s very, very freeing to know this. You’re not going to get the scholarship. You’re probably not going to get the acceptance letter. You’re not going to get the interview. So, this means you have the imperative to go out and make things happen on your own.

Because here’s the magical thing about it. They can’t create. They cannot create things that are good, beautiful and true. They’re predators and parasites. And so, there’s always going to be a certain amount of room that is granted to people that just do their own thing, or for people who just work outside the system, because that’s where the positive change – the necessary positive change – is going to happen.

A commenter related the excellent allegory of Galadriel and the Ring. Here’s to all of us passing the test. This kind of “failure” is the only real success in the world.

ACTA, Amerika, college, education, higher education

Almost all of them (4,000ish) are worthless.

The stories are becoming tedious at this point. Today, it’s a self-described racist ruining a Linguistics department and #takemathback(to the stone ages):

In the latest sign that the mind of U.S. academia has been hijacked by the left, a professor from the University of California-Santa Barbara described herself “a white American” who is, therefore “by definition racist.”

In a webinar lecture entitled, “Undoing White Supremacy in the Language Disciplines,” Mary Bucholtz, Professor and Chair of the Department of Linguistics at the University of California-Santa Barbara, broke the news to America’s majority white population that white supremacy “is a system that White people have built in order to oppress everyone else.”

Read the whole pathetic thing and then read PCR’s hilarious take on the matter. If you are a young American contemplating college, the seriously reconsider. For a guide to the very few decent schools, consult the ACTA A-list. Be mindful that the criteria are academically-based; schools may have other structural and/or cultural problems; I know three of the “As” do. Again, I recommend Thomas More of NH and Magdalen College, also of NH. (One will note a distinct lack of Hoax adherence at those two). For other options and/or for graduate school, then look to Europe, especially Eastern Europe. Consult the “Polish Option” and similar academic potential in GET OUT!

From yesterday, via The Piedmont Chronicles:

November 13th: Tragedy to Triumph – The Return of Tweetsie Railroad!!!

Several times, over the years, I’ve written fondly of the magic and majesty that is Tweetsie Railroad. Somewhere, I even lamented my old pocket knife, lost forever due to centripetal jollification at my favorite little park. Ce la vie. Many years too late, this summer, I finally had the brilliant idea to contact the management about the little folding dirk. The gracious and lovely Meghan replied with the predictable and the obvious news along with heartfelt condolences. Not one to miss spinning a tall tale, I wrote what’s been called a “fun and refreshing” SHORT STORY that explains in most-plausible detail what happened to the blade.

However, there was something in an email from Tweetsie, about “those of us who are still here,” that got me thinking – always a dangerous proposition. Then I remembered! This is 2020, the chief year of insanity. As one might suspect, the park is closed!

November 13th: Tragedy to Triumph: The Return of Tweetsie Railroad!!!

Several times, over the years, I’ve written fondly of the magic and majesty that is Tweetsie Railroad. Somewhere, I even lamented my old pocket knife, lost forever due to centripetal jollification at my favorite little park. C’est la vie.

And, I mean they’ve been closed most of the year. Yes, THAT issue, and a very heavy-handed government, intruded into the blissful reality and merrymaking like nothing else since the park opened in 1957. In mid-July, thinking the corona was clear, they braved a late opening, only to be shuttered again (by the State) a week later.

No Thomas! No Ghost Train! No quiet pondering of how such small mice could have possibly run off such a large giant! No Hopper! No Porter! No Cowboys, Indians, Can-cans, deer park romps, thrills, or anything else!

Just when things were looking terminal, an announcement arrived:

October 12, 2020

Tweetsie Railroad will be open every Friday, Saturday, and select weekday evenings from November 13 – December 31 for Tweetsie Christmas. Tickets are $44 for an Adult, $38 for a Child (age 3-12) and Free for Children age 2 and under. They will go on sale, Tuesday, October 13th.

Don’t wait! Call 877-894-3874, right this minute, or visit the website.

Tweetsie Christmas! Yes, in this most unusual year, the opening weekend also happens to be Masters Tournament Weekend. We’ll take what we can get, right? I’ve never been to Christmas at Tweetsie, but I can only imagine it’s like the following, but with snow:

Hang on … it’s like this (maybe with snow):

Picture ©, courtesy of Tweetsie Press Room.

This is possibly the best news I’ve ever reported. So, mark your calendars! There’s no better escape from economic chaos, pandemics, riots, hoaxes, election fallout, and general mayhem like the North Carolina mountains. If you’ve never been, it’s the treat of a lifetime. If you’re an old hand, then it’s exactly like you remember it. Go make a memory. Salvage 2020 at Tweetsie.

In addition to his well-known Ring of Power, the Dark Lord also sported ridiculously undersized headwear. So might be the telling of the sure-to-suck SJW revisions of Tolkien’s First and/or Second Ages in Amazon’s coming atrocities.

Vox Day reviews Evita Duffy’s review of an assault:

It’s not the “Left” that hates Tolkien

It’s the anti-Christian Prometheans at Amazon who are attempting to degrade Middle Earth and turn it into Westeros with elves. Sexy, naked, gay elves:

It is obvious the left has it in for Tolkien and his work. This could not stop a major company like Amazon from wanting to profit off Tolkien’s hugely popular Legendarium.

While Amazon is looking for a cash cow series, it appears pop culture is trying to defile Tolkien’s work from within, and what better way to undermine Tolkien’s message than to reimagine his stories in secular terms? From their point of view, it makes perfect sense to recreate the Second Age into a sexual paganist series to succeed “Game of Thrones.”

The left is already cheering on the beginnings of the presumed assassination of Tolkien’s legacy. The leftist “NY Magazine” ran a story this week headlined, “Give Us the Horny Lord of the Rings Show We Deserve.” “Are we sure that an overwhelmingly erotic Middle Earth experience is such a bad thing,” read the article. “Make the elves get a little freaky. Allow the hobbits their fun. Give a new meaning to the inscription on the West-door of the Mines of Moria: Speak, friend, and enter.”

Ideology politics are dead. Idea wars are reserved for homogeneous societies, not multiracial, multiethnic, multireligious, war zones.  The culture wars are intrinsically interidentity, and anyone who is still babbling about Left and Right, or Liberal and Conservative, is simply demonstrating the extent to which they fail to understand their own reality.

Social Justice is Satan’s Justice.

Sorry, SDL; the whole thing begged for lifting.

Vox is, as usual, correct. Evil hates Good, as Good is supposed to (as Commanded to) hate evil. I’m not Vice Regent of Middle Earth or even a lowly soldier. However, as a fan, I can’t let the attack go unfought. This reminds me that I need to finish writing something. In fact, this pitiful episode should give it a new angle – a sharp point, to drive into the enemies of the True, the Beautiful, and the Tolkien.

A rare personal note:

I read A LOT, most of it on a horrid, blue-light computer screen. Frequently, eye strain visits upon one or both of my eyes. It’s most common presentation is a curved distortion “floating” over the center field of vision. Think about a jagged crack, filled with prismatic colors, that grows to form a blurry circle. Headaches sometimes come along for the fun.

The cause is the straining of the little eye muscles. They tense up and stretch everything, thus creating the mildly painful and utterly annoying floating prism of doom.

The cure is simple rest. Relax and the muscles ease and everything returns to normal.

This morning, I noticed a jagged crack forming over my left eye. I cursed it as it slowly spread into a full circle, though I figured I could just live with it for the day. Out on the interstate, some ten minutes later, I approached an overpass. Up there, on the sidewalk, a small band of people held forth a sign. They were waving at passing cars. The sign said, “Abortion Takes A Human Life.” Pro-life. Good. My right hand, resting atop the steering wheel, flashed them a peace sign as I drove beneath. They saw it and waved directly.

Guess what instantly cleared up?

Happy, clear mind = relaxed body. All is well.
