The Judge Doth Protest Too Much

impeachment, law, Napolitano, Trump

I like Andrew Napolitano. But his obsession with the failed impeachment coup makes me wonder.

The Senate trial of President Donald Trump ended not with a bang but a whimper. What different outcome could one expect from a trial without so much as a single witness, a single document, any cross-examination or a defendant respectful enough to show up?

Law students are taught early on that a trial is not a grudge match or an ordeal; it is a search for the truth. Trial lawyers know that cross-examination is the most effective truth-testing tool available to them. But the search for the truth requires witnesses, and when the command from Senate Republican leaders came down that there shall be no witnesses, the truth-telling mission of Trump’s trial was radically transformed into a steamroller of political power.

And in its wake is a Congress ceding power to the presidency, almost as if the states had ratified a constitutional amendment redefining the impeachment language to permit a president to engage in high crimes and misdemeanors so long as he believes that they are in the national interest and so long as his party has an iron-clad grip on the Senate.

Cross-examination of witnesses they were not even allowed to name? Let it go.

2035, Boris Johnson, cars, England, the motor law

Not nCoV, but Carbon Madness. England set to ditch gasoline-powered cars in fifteen years.

Britain will ban the sale of new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars from 2035, five years earlier than planned, in an attempt to reduce air pollution that could herald the end of over a century of reliance on the internal combustion engine.

The step amounts to a victory for electric cars that if copied globally could hit the wealth of oil producers, as well as transform the car industry and one of the icons of 20th Century capitalism: the automobile itself.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is seeking to use the announcement to elevate the United Kingdom’s environmental credentials after he sacked the head of a Glasgow U.N. Climate Change Conference planned for November known as COP26.

“We have to deal with our CO2 emissions,” Johnson said at a launch event for COP26 at London’s Science Museum on Tuesday. “As a country and as a society, as a planet, as a species, we must now act.”

Maybe now is the time for your white-haired uncle to put away the little sports car. Some fuel too.

Something I may have never mentioned around here – I love Kirk Douglas. The man, the great actor, Spartacus, died today at 103. Along with Star Wars, one of the first movies I can remember seeing in a theater was THE VILLAIN. So long, Cactus Jack Slade!

Now, Whiskey. Whiskey!

A Bad Day for Liberals in Germany

With many more to come. The AfD, like all the traditional, Western right, rises.

People from across the political spectrum quickly condemned the tacit cooperation between CDU, FDP and AfD in social media posts.

“Every decent liberal should be ashamed that an FDP man has been elected with votes from the AfD,” tweeted Hubertus Heil, federal labour minister from the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

Voices within the FDP were divided, with board member Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann tweeting that the “unacceptable and unbearable” alliance made it a “bad day for me as a liberal”.

Then, maybe consider moving; you ain’t seen nothing yet. Germany, France, Italy, the UK – it’s happening. What transpires politically in Europe this decade will serve as an inspiration to those in America tasked with rebuilding during the 2030s.

Fortuna sanctorum.

NOT GUILTY

says the Senate. 52-48 and 53-47. Which is one vote better than my preview prediction the other day. The 48th, instead of the 53rd, was, of course, Mittens. Way to go, Massachusetts Utah.

Now, on with the MAGA or whatever.

Surprise, surprise! The leader of a human rights association hates humans.

The leader of one of the world’s top human rights organizations told the U.S. Commission on Unalienable Rights last week that abortion is a “fundamental right” for “anyone who wants or needs it” and that arguments about the humanity of the unborn are merely “philosophical,” with no place in policy.

Human Rights Watch head Kenneth Roth criticized Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s basis for founding the commission. Pompeo initiated the expert body to guide the department in response to a proliferation of new rights claims that often compete against one another. Roth said that abortion has always been a human right, and only the claims to it are new. He warned against “picking and choosing” among rights.

I begin to question the sanity and intelligence of a people who continue to tolerate the filthy presence of alien rats like this low priest of hell in Western nations.

TRANSCRIPT (VIA C. SLIM’S BLOG)

I didn’t watch last night and I’ve only skimmed the transcript. I must admit he forever keeps up the rhetoric tempo, knowing how to please or rile a crowd. Uh…

This:

Now I call on Congress to give one million American children the same opportunity Janiyah has just received. Pass the Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunities Act — because no parent should be forced to send their child to a failing government school.

They’d do it anyway; that or send the children to FAILED government schools (probably 50/50 failing/failed).

And this:

That is why I’m also calling upon members of Congress here tonight to pass legislation finally banning the late-term abortion of babies. (Applause.) Whether we are Republican, Democrat, or independent, surely we must all agree that every human life is a sacred gift from God.

A start not likely to get a start.

I’d grade it, but what’s the point? More, from the Senate, later perhaps. For now, carefully scan that transcript. I think a word is missing.

Cancel them, or face a new dark age.

This article at once demonstrates the necessity of reading Vox Day and Ron Unz. No-one else continually comes up with the truth like this.

For thousands of years the leading tension of civilization has been over who is going to dominate and plan society’s economy. Will it be democratic governments or wise rulers seeking stability and military security? Or, will it be a financial oligarchy that wants to get rich by impoverishing the rest of society?

He’s correct. The ultimate and mathematically certain outcome of the current financial system is that the owners of the banks own literally all the property and all of the people. This is not a question of right-wing vs left-wing, and it’s very important to remember that banks are not capitalism, corporations are not human beings, and usury is not freedom.

Quite the opposite, as it happens.

As usual, there are commenters at Unz who can be relied upon to produce the retarded “conservative” attack on debt cancellation. Make no mistake, if at this point you still oppose debt cancellation on the grounds of “personal responsibility”, you are economically retarded, by which I mean, you are so stupid, so shortsighted, and so unable to do the very simple math involved that if I had the ability to do so, I would forbid you to read this blog.

If it’s selective then people who made responsible economic decisions will be forced to subsidize the self-indulgent and/or foolish economic decisions of others.

The inexorable math of usury and the way in which credit shifts the demand curve upward dictates that however “responsible” your economic decisions are, sooner or later you will be forced to not only “subsidize the self-indulgent and/or foolish economic decisions of others”, you will be forced to make equally foolish decisions yourself. The fiscal conservative’s belief in “responsible debt” is no different than the Churchian’s belief in Judeochristianity, and it stems from exactly the same evil source.

“[B]anks are not capitalism, corporations are not human beings, and usury is not freedom.” Read the whole interview at Unz. This has been done repeatedly throughout history. It will be done again. It should be done now. And in keeping with the Nazi parallel, maybe Nuremberg the banksters too.

PS: Vox is dead right about the comments at Unz. Some can’t risk winning for their desire of continually defeat.

An Ode to the Most Holy, Revered, August, and Eternal

CORNSTERNATION

of The United States Empire

***That which immediately follows is sung to the tune of “Old 100th / Praise God”***

Praise Constitution to which all taxes flow.

Praise It all ye serfs down below.

Praise It as ye lose the most.

Praise Fiat Usury and Lincoln’s Ghost!

Aaaaaaaaaaaah-Meeeeeeeen!!!*

*Deepest, most sincere apologies to Louis Bourgeois and Ken Thomas for gross doxological, melodious appropriation.

It did not come from God Almighty, the US Constitution, that is. Old 100th certainly did. But, much has been made of the Constitution, here and lately. Our esteemed editor, MB, ran a post with the text of the original version with the Bill of Rights attached. Yes, his dedicated page does contain the whole thing, complete with the other seventeen Amendments. Regardless of which version one goes with, there are some rather inconvenient facts, a few of which I will address shortly.

For this is my take on the Old Parchment. Heck, my TPC byline says I’m “into … the Constitution.” And, I am. In keeping therewith, let’s examine that document about which so much fuss is made, generally at times convenient and generally without much understanding or reflection. First, as you may have gathered, I mockingly refer to it by such nicknames as “The Cornsternation” and “The Old Parchment.” “Cornsternation,” of course, naturally proceeds from the combining of “corn” and “consternation.” The former part is nonsensical; the latter is self-explanatory. And, it is old and it’s written on some form of parchment. Second, at least I’ve seen the thing, the original straight from Madison’s quill! It resides in a museum in Washington, DC. Here it is:

Oops. Sorry, that’s a different dinosaur from across the Mall at the Smithsonian. Here it is:

Desperate BREXIT Lies

BREXIT, economics, England, history, lies

A little too late, don’t you think? The globos dredged up all manner of untruth to try to stifle the will of the British People – stock collapse, no healthcare, no food, blah, blah. Now, they resort to the most unusual, ridiculous, and woefully belated attempt:

The U.K.’s worst productivity slump in a quarter of a millennium may be caused by a “perfect storm” of three factors, according to a study to be published this week.

Productivity was almost 20% below its pre-2008 path in 2018 — the worst slowdown since 1760-1800, as the Industrial Revolution took hold. The present-day malaise may have been caused by the end of the information and communications technology boom, the financial crisis, and Brexit.

BREXIT!!! See the graph – which, by the way, shows a productivity INCREASE over the past ten years, even with some separation from the general employment. Shock. And, it’s ten years. How could BREXIT factor – again, see the graph – into an increasing “decline” that started long before Leave cranked up? It didn’t.

Hint for GB: when you commence the repatriations, make damned sure to ship the wizards out first. That by itself would raise productivity, spirits too.
