Was this alleged strike payback for the Empire’s border bash a week ago?

However, a US Department of Defense spokesperson told Politico that the agency was “aware” of the attack, and there were no reports of any major damage or injury.

“We are aware of reporting of a UAS incident in the vicinity of Erbil, Iraq,” the spokesperson said.

“At this time, initial reports indicate no structural damage, injuries or casualties.”

Be mindful that last winter, when they said “no casualties,” that really meant hundreds of traumatic brain injuries and the total destruction of the drone fleet. Of course, that was Iran. This, I think, was not. If it happened, it was probably just local yokels or, possibly, some false-flaggish nonsense. (Iran would have trumpeted the attack with videos and more). Either way, why on earth is the Empire still in the SandBox?

In the South China Sea.

Davidson confirmed, for the first time from the U.S. government side, that China’s People’s Liberation Army has successfully tested an anti-ship ballistic missile against a moving ship. This was done as part of the PLA’s massive joint military exercises, which have been ongoing since the summer. These are often called “aircraft carrier killer” missiles, because they could threaten the United States’ most significant naval assets from long distances.

“It’s an indication that they continue to advance their capability. We’ve known for years they’ve been in pursuit of a capability that could attack moving targets,” Davidson said. I asked him whether they are designed to target U.S. aircraft carriers. “Trust me, they are targeting everything,” he replied.

Just as I wrote in my Fed-Foreign Policy column. And, this is a good thing as the Empire was too expensive and counterproductive to keep up.

The Saker wrote a dandy column on the demise and death of the US Empire:

This is not to say that the outcome will not matter, it will – but only for the future of the United States themselves. Simply put, the upcoming vote is either a vote for upholding law and order in the US, or for total nihilism. On a deeper level, it is a vote for the US or against it: the Dems all hate this country and its “deplorables”; they also hate almost every aspect of US history (overturned statues are but symbols of this hatred) and they hate what they call “a racist system” in spite of the fact that the real causes of racial tensions in the US have very little to do with the “system” and everything to do with the unique problems of blacks in a culture with mainly European roots.

The Empire is dead. And I hope and believe that its death will mark the rebirth of the United States as a “normal” country (which is what happened to all the other former empires).

Until that happens, we can now at least rest assured that this amazingly evil Empire has finally died, even if very few noticed this.

Read the whole thing at UNZ. It’s well-informed, entertaining, and mostly correct. I question two points. One, how much of the Empire’s nuclear arsenal is still operational? Enough I suppose to keep the heat radiating as he puts it. Two, I’m not so certain that the remains and rump states will exist as “normal” nations for some time to come. Too many issues of the non-political kind to sort out. Those European roots and the new post-Americans and so forth. A fun ride it was – with much more to come.

It’s not like the Nazis, then the Soviets invaded and tried to destroy Poland or anything. Those pesky Poles should pay, and pay and pay and pay…

Mike Pompeo is a fat, stupid shill who works for another fat, stupid shill, who was elected by lesser fat, stupid shills. They want to share (impose) their debased servitude on the remaining sane people of Europe.

The United States is criticizing a number of eastern and central European nations, including Poland, for failing to compensate Holocaust victims and their families and communities for property seized during Nazi occupation in World War II as the numbers of survivors dwindles due to age.

In a report issued Wednesday, the State Department called out Bosnia, Belarus, Ukraine and particularly Poland for not having acted on restitution claims. Croatia, Latvia and Russia were also taken to task in the report, which is likely to draw angry responses from the governments identified.

“Much time has passed, and the need for action is urgent,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a forward to the 200-page report that looks at the records of 46 countries in meeting commitments they made to restitution in 2009.

Biden, if elected, would only demand the same thing. Vote Republican’t, or else! Biden or Killary would have signed the JUST Act instead of building a wall! This is what “Amerika First” looks like. Thankfully, Poland is led by and populated by men who literally believe in Poland First.

Piracy on the High Seas

Your beloved and dead constitution lists three crimes, and only three crimes, which the federal government may prosecute. I’ve gone over this before, noting that the government itself is generally the worst perpetrator of those three crimes. Today, an example of imperial piracy on the high seas.

U.S. federal prosecutors filed suit late Wednesday to seize four tankers-worth of gasoline Iran is sailing to Venezuela, the latest salvo in the administration’s effort to stifle flows of goods and money helping to keep two of its top foes in power.

By filing a civil-forfeiture complaint, U.S. prosecutors aim to not only prevent delivery of the Iranian fuel to Venezuela, which began the journey last month, but also deprive Tehran of the revenues from the cargo and deter future shipments.

The action is the latest in a series of moves the U.S. has taken against Iran and its ally Venezuela, as part of a broad operation to pressure the governments in Tehran and Caracas to meet U.S. demands.

We’ve covered civil for theft too. Another batch of Iranian tankers made it through just fine this spring. And in January, we found out that Iran is longer a missile lightweight. They have extremely accurate and powerful anti-ship and ballistic options. They also have subs. This could, should this piracy go too far, get very interesting. Leave well enough alone?

Breaking The Hammer: Fables Of The Paper Eagle

Greetings! Another week and more affairs, some pertaining to the wider world, in that uniquely American way. Those of you who spent the weekend fellating the current “heroes” probably won’t understand or like the following. Tough. However, I’m proud to say that you might be compensated when a “hero” visits you in person before too long – gun in one hand, syringe in the other!

There’s so much happening with homeschooling and the death of the public schools that I almost ran with that. (Dead schools, dead horse, I know). But, the CDC has effectively recommended disbanding the “schools.” For once, I agree with the CDC!

Also, I had to alter this column slightly when some brand new (decades-old) news broke over the weekend. I did so. Sometimes it’s hard to write a national affairs column about a nation that died around the time I was born – at least, with a straight face. While the original main body, below, concerns the ongoing collapse of the US Empire overseas, there is a domestic story to tell first.

Back in 1969, the residents of Tribeca noticed a new construction site at 33 Thomas Street, a phenomenon not unheard of in Manhattan. By 1974, the new building was finished and open for business; an ugly 33-story tower at home among many others. This one was different. People noticed, though for years they said nothing, that the building had no windows. Blank concrete walls rose to the sky, topped by a bunch of antennas. After initially accepting the cover story that the odd structure was only an AT&T transfer station – which it was and is, in part – the truth emerged: it was (and is) also an NSA listening post.

I know, I know, the blind homers of C-town don’t care ‘bout no Yankee city. And you don’t have to, a similar post in downtown Atlanta being much closer. While they still serve various purposes, these facilities have become somewhat obsolete – being replaced by those personal spy devices that you’re reading this on at the moment.

The NSA itself, born in 1952 out of other nefarious government programs, was long the subject of controversy – not about what it did, but rather, about the tin-foil nuts who suggested it was real. As recently as thirty years ago, the existence of the agency was deemed a crank conspiracy theory. (I’ve come to accept “conspiracy theory” as synonymous with “hard fact.”) As the years passed, other programs were mentioned: Carnivore, Echelon, DCS1000, Boundless Informant, Galileo, FISA, etc. I remember discussing some of these, back in the day, with MB – back when we thought something bad was going to happen to America. Ah, the naivety of youth.

The BIG Corona Winner: Government

America, Empire, government

The Empire, ahead of its impending fall, has suddenly, instantly, and without opposition grown by leaps and bounds. Who could have ever foreseen this???

Government also has changed personal behavior, recommending and in some cases ordering people to stay home, practice social distancing and wear masks outdoors, in some places under threat of fines or penalties. Coming next is likely to be contact tracing, an effort to track people exposed to the virus that could invade the privacy of all Americans.

So far, Washington has authorized more than $2.35 trillion to prop up suffering workers and industries and supply an overwhelmed health care system, with another round of spending likely coming soon. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has resurrected and expanded its playbook from the 2008 financial crisis, pumping an estimated $4 trillion into the economy.

More spending could be required in the future to patch the holes the pandemic has revealed. The nation also is likely to need higher taxes — and not just on the wealthiest — to help repay the gigantic debt Washington is incurring to rescue the economy and workers.

Recently, but before Corona Mania hit, someone I admire wrote that the coming (2020) political battle would be between conservatives and socialists. At the time, I thought, “Then, congratulations, socialists!” But then, the conservatives didn’t even show up. So, congratulations, socialists! Enjoy your hoax victory while it lasts. Time is tick, tick, ticking away, virus or no virus.

Afghanistan: The Agreement and the Numbers – from TPC

As promised, from TPC (a bit faster than I expected):

VICTORY in Afghanistan!!!

Seventy-five years ago, on V-J Day, US Sailor George Mendonsa was feeling especially triumphant and perhaps a little frisky. He grabbed a total yet pretty stranger, nurse Greta Friedman, and planted a long, wet kiss on her. It was in Times Square, New York, New York, in a completely different era. There is a picture of the two of them, said (like virtually everything else since 1066) to be “iconic.” Now, with stunning news out of the Middle East, expect a similar incident to unfold in the Big Bagel. Things being what they are, we might have to settle and iconize a drag queen lip-locked with Panhandle Me Elmo.

But, for once in a good while, we do have legitimately great news about that hideous monstrosity bestraddling the Potomac: The US and the Taliban have signed an Agreement to End the War in Afghanistan.

Please click that link and scroll down to the document. It’s short, only four pages. The implications are huge. The main gist of concern to Americans may be summarized in the first paragraph of Part One:

The United States is committed to withdraw from Afghanistan all military forces of the United States, its allies, and Coalition partners, including all non-diplomatic civilian personnel, private security contractors, trainers, advisors, and supporting services personnel within fourteen (14) months following announcement of this agreement, and will take the following measures in this regard:

Fourteen months, and we’re outta there! It’s about damned time. There’s more – again, read the whole thing. But, the main point – if this agreement holds – is that America’s longest war will soon be over. I know you’ve all read the Afghanistan Papers, not that you needed to, and you realize that this martial expedition was a mistake from the beginning.

The Afghan War by the numbers:

0 Legitimate causes of action or objectives

0 Declarations of War (antiquated concept, pursuant to your Holy Parchment Thing)

1 Nation, already in bad shape, wrecked

2 times the CIA/DOD reported Osama Bin Laden died

12s of other nations destabilized, stressed, or otherwise afflicted

19 long years (20 years before total disengagement)

50/50 chance the Deal falls apart and the US remains…

2,400+ Americans killed

1,000s of American Afghan Veteran suicides

1,000s of other Coalition casualties

20,000+ Americans wounded

110,000+ Afghans killed

360,000+ Afghans wounded

2.6 million+ Afghan refugees (95,000 in the US)

$1 Trillion+ in Military-Industrial/Oil/Corporate revenues*

$2.5 Trillion+ in nominal US taxpayer expenses (for on-books outlays only)*

$10 Trillion+ in associated Central/Commercial banking theft*

Unlimited ill-will generated by the foregoing (likely to include the ire of the Almighty)

* The “Trillions” figures are speculative, based on intentionally nefarious accounting, and could likely be larger; the bankster graft could range much higher. We simply do not (will not) know.

People, places, and things acquire nicknames for various reasons. Perhaps you recall a few years ago when, at Sea World or somewhere they keep sea creatures confined in swimming pools, a woman swam happily with an Orca. Families were delighted! Then, for no reason at all, Willy decided to toss the woman around for a football. She died, of course, and everyone was shocked, especially those delighted families! All I could think at the time was: well, it’s an animal the size of a bus, with a mouth large enough to hold a refrigerator, and it has KILLER in it’s (alternative) name! Afghanistan’s nickname is “the Graveyard of Empires.” The moniker was allegedly bestowed by Emperor Babur of the Mughal Dynasty (“India,” 1483-1530). His point was that the land was unconquerable. History bears witness to this truth, with the failures of Alexander, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union, among others. Those specific three, upon withdrawing from lost Afghan campaigns, soon collapsed. More than one sign points to the US Empire joining them.

Like all recent US Imperial wars, the objective was not necessarily to win. “Congress gives us money to spend and expects us to spend all of it. … The attitude became we don’t care what you do with the money as long as you spend it.” – B. Gen. Brian Copes, Feb. 25, 2016. Yes. And all that spending helped kill all those people. Destroying either to make some parties richer and/or simply for destruction’s sake. Yet today, the Empire still stands, barely and shakily.

This Agreement is the first thing in the long, pointless conflict that in any way benefits the American people. It hypothetically sets the tone for further foreign de-escalations and renewed attention to that neglected region between Mexico and Canada. Thus, I have declared it a victory! Now, minding you the #metoo movement, go on out and kiss a nurse.

Will we ever get the full number? O. 10. 12s. 100. 109. And counting.

Keltz, who said he had concussion symptoms for days, is among 109 soldiers diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries in the wake of last month’s attack, a figure that has steadily risen as more troops report symptoms and get medical screening.

414,000 TBI cases in the past two decades. The very high cost of Empire.

The Imperial Grand Strategy

At least there was a strategy. And it may have worked when the Empire was ascendant. Now, we daily see the painful retractions.

The United States has attacked, directly or indirectly, some 44 countries throughout the world since August 1945, a number of them many times. The avowed objective of these military interventions has been to effect “regime change”. The cloaks of “human rights” and of “democracy” were invariably evoked to justify what were unilateral and illegal acts.

The aim of the United States is to protect and reinforce national interests rather than to create a better world for all humankind. It is an “imperial grand strategy” of global dimensions designed to ensure unlimited and uninhibited access, notably to strategic resources, notably energy, and to markets. Rather than to establish a direct colonial presence, the preferred strategy is to create satellite states, and this requires constant, and often repeated, military interventions in countries around the world, irrespective of their political regime.

Other Empires in the past have had maps to rival the US’s. Oddly, none of them are still on the map.
