There is No Upper Limit on Taxation

"Civil" War, 2020, 2033, Elizabeth Warren, taxes, theft

Another potential gift of the 16th Amendment. Squaw Warren’s tax plan is technically, legally possible.

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has unveiled sweeping tax proposals that would push federal tax rates on some billionaires and multimillionaires above 100%.

That prospect raises questions for taxpayers and the broader economy that experts are starting to ponder: Under which circumstances would taxpayers have to pay those rates? How might that change their behavior? And would investment and economic growth suffer?

Potential tax rates over 100% could result from the combination of tax increases the Massachusetts senator proposes for the very top tier of investors. She wants to return the top income-tax rate to 39.6% from 37%, impose a new 14.8% tax for Social Security, add an annual tax of up to 6% on accumulated wealth and require rich investors to pay capital-gains taxes at the same rates as other income even if they don’t sell their assets.

Consider a billionaire with a $1,000 investment who earns a 6% return, or $60, received as a capital gain, dividend or interest. If all of Ms. Warren’s taxes are implemented, he could owe 58.2% of that, or $35 in federal tax. Plus, his entire investment would incur a 6% wealth tax, i.e., at least $60. The result: taxes as high as $95 on income of $60 for a combined tax rate of 158%.

One of the lies told to sell the Sixteenth was that the highest rate would never come close to 10%. My weak math skills suggest that 158 is greater than 10. This may be TPC’s topic for next week. For now, I think I am actually in favor of this scheme of theft and slavery. But maybe that’s just the accelerationist in me. Tick. Tick. Tick.

UPDATE: When reading the WSJ article about Squaw, note the names of the policy-makers and backers.

From a very good interview with a very good radio man:

“No, I’m pessimistic,” Savage says bluntly. “I think Donald Trump, even if he wins a second term, it is the last gasp of America as we know it. I think we’re going to enter years and years, if not decades of darkness.”

“I see the mass of illegal immigrants, who are illiterate even in their own language. They have none of our shared values. They will never be Americans and embrace the values that built this country. They’ve been steeped in hatred for this nation by the media and the universities. And they have a very dim view of our nation, even though they love the benefits that have accrued from far better people than them,” he concludes.

He’s right about almost everything. On the pessimistic side, it could be longer than decades – it’s possibly permanent. On the other hand, an uprising just might fix things. There’s light that way.

Amazingly, a majority of Amerikans, of whom a majority are also idiots, get this one right. Two-thirds foresee a civil war. And, soon.

Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America, with 67% believing that the nation is nearing civil war, according to a new national survey.

“The majority of Americans believe that we are two-thirds of the way to being on the edge of civil war. That to me is a very pessimistic place,” said Mo Elleithee, the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service.

And worse, he said in announcing the results of the institute’s Battleground Poll, the political division is likely to make the upcoming 2020 presidential race the nastiest in modern history.

I think they have the percentage wrong. It’s more likely that we’re around 98% there, now. All that’s needed are a few sparks. On that front, the Fed and the neocons are doing all they can to help. 2033 may indeed be an overly optimistic estimate.

2033, Amerika, done and over..., Navy, Satanism

This chapter won’t end well for the Navy.

(Readers, these were sent to me as screenshots. I can’t copy-and-paste in a more readable format. If you are having trouble reading it, the gist is that the Chief is a confessed Satanist, and is inviting others at the USNA to participate in a Satanic ritual.)

My source comments:

Obviously, the email raises more questions than it claims to answer. How can this chief claim no sponsorship or endorsement from the Satanic Temple, even as he admits he’s a member? He claims not to conduct or promote symbolic evil, when that’s what Satan is in literature (and he’s the closest thing to evil incarnate in the real world). The website he links to talks about Black Masses and “unbaptisms,” but they don’t engage in ritual sacrifice. The list goes on.

This source said that the command chaplain, a Catholic priest, had no idea any of this was going on, and is furious. The Satanists did not go through proper channels, it appears, so this event might not happen.

Given all this, I thought this story couldn’t possibly get any more interesting, but then something else happened that made me decide to write you. This afternoon, a midshipman who is very involved in one of the Protestant organizations on the Yard wrote an open letter to leaders of other Christian organizations. I’ve reproduced it here, with his name redacted:

All isn’t lost, however. Combine this with the ships that can’t/won’t sail, billion-dollar systems that don’t work, lack of direction, and the general lack of fitness and 2033 starts to look like a cinch.

With a predictable answer. PCR wants to know where the indictments are against the leaders of the ongoing coup.

The Republicans are simply too stupidly patriotic to indict a president, so they tell Trump, just let bygones be bygones. Don’t establish the precedent of bringing a former president and his top officials to indictments that will result in conviction and imprisonment. This, the Republicans believe, will destroy the people’s belief in their government, and the US will become just another “banana republic or African dictatorship.” To save America, Trump is being told, you have to turn your eyes away from the sedition of the Democrats and the Deep State.

In other words, he is being advised: “Let them get you.” So much for Trump’s advisors. So much for Trump appointing such stupid advisors.

This misplaced and idiotic superpatriotism immobilizes the stupid party and leaves the initiative with the determined party, a party that ignores all facts and whose media shills drown out any facts that manage to get expressed.

Trump is guilty of the undefined and unsubstantiated, and that is enough for the American media. Is it enough for the American people?

The coming collapse and instability of “the world’s only superpower” is going to be stunning.

It’s obvious they’re with the “sealed military indictments” – they don’t exist. But, “stunning” is the right word – one of them. 2033 might be an overly optimistic date.

As it has for some time. A great article on the subject, the first of two.

Insurgents have repeatedly battled US forces to a standoff or worse. Two major powers have weapons that can stymie or destroy significant parts of America’s conventional offensive capabilities, that can be used offensively with devastating effect, and for which the US has no defensive countermeasures.

This set of facts is plainly incompatible with the control the US establishment believes it can and should exercise around the world. Russia and China appear to have no such hegemonic aspirations, concentrating their efforts in their own backyards and letting the US waste its blood and treasure on imperialistic adventures. The US’s unipolar moment began fading in 1949 when the Soviet Union detonated its own atomic bomb, but repeated encounters with reality have done little to shake the illusion of control. Economic, financial, and political developments at home render the illusion delusional.

This week’s TPC column will cover some of these issues, from the perspective of my special interview guest. He says that the US shouldn’t be so keen even on relying on that nuclear threat – which it so happens is also fading. Coming soon!

2033, conservative, idiots, politics, Rome, terminal decline, Wharton

Many, many years ago, I applied to 2.5 colleges out of my shortlist of 4. I could have those numbers reversed, not sure ALL THESE YEARS later. I was accepted into all 5, though none of the 3 were Penn., home to the Wharton School of Globalism Business. However, Wharton (specifically) had been at least a plausible educational thought – a back-burner institute. Why? Because of the respect I had (still have, grudgingly…) for one of its alumni. Any respect for the school itself is gone now.

I am increasingly worried that 2019 feels ever more like 1929. Back then, inequality was at an all-time high. Authoritarian nationalism was on the rise. World War I had exploded the old global order without creating a new one. Then the stock market crash of October 1929 ignited the horrendous cascade of depression, fascism and World War II —arguably the worst 15 years in history.

…

Many of the future’s best jobs will require “soft skills” like teamwork and empathy, about the furthest frontier for robots.

Finally, when it comes to politics, “leadership” is the inevitable bromide to reverse the nativist, anti-immigration and anti-globalization sentiment so prominent today. But providing this leadership means more than political rhetoric. What we need is politicians who speak plainly about deep realities and difficult solutions.

We need leaders who defend technology and globalization by both explaining how they work and how societies have benefited from them. Consumers would lose big time from reversing these megatrends — and not just because of tariffs. Having everything from clothing and steel to smartphones and computer chips “made in America” sounds good — until you realize just how much more consumers would have to pay for them.

Leaders should not only show real empathy for the people who have been dislocated by technology and globalization but also present compelling plans for extending the benefits to them. Education is the answer. Issues of access and affordability are no doubt important. But we must also focus on changing education to match the jobs of tomorrow.

Are we fated to re-live the horrors of the 1930s? Certainly not. But we must acknowledge the profound challenges in front of us. “Downton Abbey” is wonderful to watch. But its underlying point is that the naïve optimism of the 1920s was breathtakingly dangerous.

That pack of BS and lies is from a Wharton deen. (DO NOT send your kids there!) Go watch the glorious faded past movie, bub. The man (I guess?) is 1,459 years out of his reckoning. It’s not 1929. It’s more like 470. I wonder if some Roman hand-wringer went about the collapsing Empire soothing the peeps with empathy, immigration, globalization, and education? Probably.

They probably had “conservative” losers (pardon the redundancy redundancy) like this guy.

What’s needed is not mere “outreach” to black, Hispanic, or Jewish voters. Conservatives ought to make elevation of African Americans, immigrants, and religious minorities so central to conservatism that all dedicated racists will be thoroughly repelled. If we can’t make them stop calling themselves the “alt-right,” because they won’t want to be associated with us, we can at least disgust them with such a focus.

Why? Mostly because it’s the right thing to do.

Conservatives don’t [blah, blah, blah]

…

To accept this reality doesn’t require one to declare that whites are all vile racists or oppressors. It doesn’t require agreeing that the U.S. is fundamentally a white supremacist nation. It just requires the sincere acceptance of two premises: First, that all humans are created equal (the official teaching of the U.S. founders and all Abrahamic religions), and second, that blacks and Hispanics have far worse outcomes in the U.S.

Next year, this fool will declare that whites are all vile racists. “I’m a moron, a cuck, and a liar, just not a racist!” I doubt any real Romans left at the end of the 5th century gave two shits about what bad names their enemies called them.

The good news is that, as I drift further from the foolish mainstream and the decayed culture, I recognize fewer and fewer of these idiots’ names.

An unnamed CIA agent, probably a sinecure paper-pusher if he even exists, is at the bottom (or somewhere) of the Ukraine! hoax.

The White House learned that a C.I.A. officer had lodged allegations against President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine even as the officer’s whistle-blower complaint was moving through a process meant to protect him against reprisals, people familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

The officer first shared information about potential abuse of power and a White House cover-up with the C.I.A.’s top lawyer through an anonymous process, some of the people said. The lawyer shared the officer’s concerns with White House and Justice Department officials, following policy. Around the same time, the officer separately filed the whistle-blower complaint.

I’ve known several CIA agents and other intel types. They generally come in two classes: the field guys who do the dirty work and the office guys who do the really dirty work. As silly and self-serving as this sounds, I’m interviewing Tom Ironsides about this and other matters. He’s already confirmed what others have told me. Maybe it’s time – past time – to abolish the CIA?

At any rate, this impeachment show may throw a curveball into the 2020 election that even I didn’t foresee. It may well be that this crazed process, successful or not, is what hands Trump his victory over Pocahontas. Who’d a thunk it?

Another prediction: the process moves forward; the House impeaches; the Senate acquites; Trump is reelected. Worst-case scenario (for Trump): Impeachment; CONVICTION; resignation; pardon; … reelection with a vengeance. (Yes, that can happen). It’s more likely that the show trial will expose even more dirt on Biden, the Clintons, and the rest, though I expect absolutely no repercussions for them either. In short, nothing will change.

Speaking of nothing… Anyone heard from “Q” lately? I was wondering what the tally for the sealed military indictments is up to now. Can’t recall if the growth was “natural” or geometric. It could be anywhere between 400,000 and 400 Centillion.

And, every day, 2033 inches closer and closer. Tick, tick, tick…

Okay. Here goes: Wait until it’s M777s.

No need to link to it, as the story keeps shifting in the breeze, but there’s been a shooting at a Texas Walmart.

I see a violent civil war approaching and unstoppably so. Just thought I say something.

But, hey! REAL news! NFL preseason kicks off next week, baby!

“US” Pride? Or American Pride?

July may be the “pride” month that really counts. Then again, too many people don’t even know what they’re proud of or not proud of.

As Americans prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, their pride in the U.S. has hit its lowest point since Gallup’s first measurement in 2001. While 70% of U.S. adults overall say they are proud to be Americans, this includes fewer than half (45%) who are “extremely” proud, marking the second consecutive year that this reading is below the majority level. Democrats continue to lag far behind Republicans in expressing extreme pride in the U.S.

These findings are explored further with new measurements of the public’s pride in eight aspects of U.S. government and society. American scientific achievements, military and culture/arts engender the most pride, while the U.S. political system and health and welfare system garner the least.

Decreasing Percentage in U.S. Are Extremely Proud to Be American

U.S. adults’ extreme pride in being American has been steadily weakening in recent years, and the current reading, from a June 3-16 Gallup poll, marks the lowest point to date. However, the latest two-percentage-point decline from last year’s 47% is not a statistically significant change.

The highest readings on the measure, 69% and 70%, were between 2002 and 2004, after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, when the American public expressed high levels of patriotism and rallied around the U.S. government. Yet, since the start of George W. Bush’s second presidential term in 2005, fewer than 60% of Americans have expressed extreme pride in being American.

Semantics are fine and dandy. There is a difference. America is the home nation of the AMERICANS, a distinct people with a distinct heritage and culture. The US was merely a collection of American States before it turned into a usurping, omnipresent Empire, replete with NOT Americans. The number of literal Americans in America (or the US) is probably less than 45% of the population at this point. It is certainly below the 70% figure.

The idiots and the BBQs of Thursday aside, where is all this headed? We’ll find out in the next, exciting TPC column.
