Economic Imitates Fiction

Not that long ago, just as the Corona Hoax and concurrent Economic Collapse were getting underway, I ran a lengthy analysis of the same, at TPC, using fictional voices to make real points and predictions. It’s interesting, and alarming to see nearly all of Todd’s (and Tom’s) calls coming true. Just a few (more) that I saw today alone:

WE HAVE NO MONEY ANYMORE!

Universal Basic Income

The System Is Rigged

Not sure if I directly relayed the following, though I’ve mentioned it here and at FP for years: They Want To Steal Your Cash!

Another example(s) of reading it from me with humor, today, or get it weeks, months, or years later from the drab MSM. (Read it here!)

PS: A new TPC column should be along later today!

FP is alive and well after a brief absence. We’ve been having a told-you-to-prep field day with the Corona Mania. Anyway, check out one of the daily news briefings: April 15, 2020.

A Heavy Matter: Corona And Obesity – ZD Net

Age aside, what do most COVID patients have in common? Give up? They’re mostly obese. Being fat – what it is – is the number one pre-existing condition that is taking down so many people around the world, especially in the USA. Americans have, over the past fifty years, become rather large and NOT in charge of their collective health. Being burdened by an additional 20, 50, or 100+ pounds makes life difficult on a good day. Add in a severe disease, and it can be terminal. Shape up. Slim down. Eat less, and walk around.

It’s Official: The Entire USA Is A Disaster – The Hill

We kind of knew that, as-was. But now, with Wyoming caving and declaring an emergency, it is official! Every State in the USA is a disaster zone. BECAUSE OF THE VIRUS! Right… I see the Wu Flu as icing on a cake long since baked. It’s spoiled and needs to be tossed. This may be our best chance for a national reset. Hold your breath!

That’s two of twelve stories covered today. Check out the video! E-Z watching, if you can’t read (driving or something). And, if you like it – and want more(!) – then consider joining Scott’s Email List. You’ll be glad you did.

Congratulations, voters of Amerika! You and your elected morons have done it yet again, though bigger than ever. Remember waaaay back, like a week ago, when your rats passed the biggest welfare bill in history? The one with the massive grant or loan fiasco for small bidnesses? Yeah, it’s already spent, with nothing to show.

One of the most celebrated pieces of the massive $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief package that’s just over two weeks old is on life support with no deal in sight to resuscitate it.

According to the latest projections, the Small Business Administration’s $349 billion appropriation for loans to eligible firms, which are forgiven if they use the money to keep workers on their payrolls, will run out of money by Friday.

And the Democrats want more money to waste. They’ll get it, and, really, why not? A reminder to the Republican, conservative, better than the Democrats, need a business man!! crowd: you got exactly what you wanted and now you’re getting what you deserve.

President Trump, with the support of Congress, is poised to preside over an unprecedented explosion of government spending that already is set to shatter deficit records and could grow further if plans for more coronavirus relief bills — nearing a potential total price tag of $5 trillion — become reality.

Even accounting for inflation, no modern administration has seen such levels of spending, covering everything from FDR’s New Deal to recession-era rescues in the early part of the Obama administration.

Not to worry: you still have your Constitution!*

*Constitution “temporarily” suspended.

MSM Notices the Evil of Usury

In India.

Many families will instead resort to taking out loans at high interest rates in order to survive, while others will fall deeper into debt and end up trapped in bonded labour – India’s most prevalent form of modern slavery – according to activists.

India identified at least 135,000 bonded workers in its 2011 census, while the Australian charity Walk Free Foundation put the number at eight million in its 2018 Global Slavery Index.

Dear latecomers: this is a problem, a sin everywhere and at any interest rates. Thanks for siding with the good people in India, but you could have looked around and US or European town for the same or worse. Jubilee!

Tom Ironsides, TPC

Imagine this: you “create” a fictional character, writing about him sometimes. Then, the next thing you know, he’s writing on his own:

From TPC, Sunday, April 12, 2020:

12 April 2020

A Letter to the Editor by Tom Ironsides: Celebrate Life & Hug Your Children

Dear Mr. McCart:
Greetings. I do not think we have ever met, such are my strange interactions with the “real” world. I was asked to write something for you publication by our mutual friend, Perrin Lovett, whom I have cc’d if for no other reason than to stem his incessant pestering. It is my understanding that he is working on another of his usual columns for next week (and, for that, I am blameless). The attached submission (DOC and PDF) is not what I gather he was interested in. However, as noted in the letter, it kind of sprang into my heart more than my mind. While it is admittedly a little out of my character as some know it, I hope it is sufficiently interesting. If so, then I concluded it with a brief bio, lifted from my college faculty page (my apologies, but the picture would not transfer). The title, while provided by me, is ultimately your call. I ask only that my email address or other direct contact information NOT be included with the letter.
As an aside, Mrs. Tuggle’s weekly work is always interesting and delightful. Please pass that message along to her. The rest is certainly … something. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Tom Ironsides
PS: Go Cavs!

Celebrate Life And Hug Your Children

Dr. Thomas H. Ironsides, II

Dear Mr. McCart and Friends:

My acquaintance and your colleague, Mr. Lovett, asked or begged me to write something regarding late events, both biological and geo-political. Some of my experience and opinion I understand he has recently relayed, and more of which I believe he is currently imagining. Personally, I have just about had it with my house arrest, which to my great credit, I have been breaking on a regular basis. No apologies to Sheriff Hagaman. So, of that, I have little more to say or to think. Instead, as I was instructed to write “from the heart,” I will tell you a story. It’s a little late in coming back to my mind, however, it is perfectly fitting for this Easter Season.

On the afternoon of Friday, February the 14th, I was entertaining myself in the quaint downtown of my adopted Blowing Rock. Happening upon the wonderful Art and History Museum, and having never ventured therein, I decided to peruse the galleries. Immediately, I stumbled upon what I at first took for a community party. Soon, I realized it was a public wake for a local dignitary. Someone informed me that it was not, in fact, a funeral; rather, it was a celebration. And so, I would like to share some of that experience and brave spirit with you.

The woman of the hour, of the day, was a little girl. Her name was Bexley Svana Moffat and she was only a few months into the ripe young age of two years when she unexpectedly succumbed to leukemia. Please read her unusual and heartening obituary, as linked, courtesy of the Austin and Barnes Funeral Home:

https://austinandbarnesfuneralhome.com/tribute/details/2230/Bexley-Moffatt/obituary.html#tribute-start

According to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, approximately American 3,000 children are diagnosed with leukemia every year. Around ninety percent enter into remission and are effectively cured within ten years of the onset of aggressive treatment. Why is the minority taken by this accursed disease? Most can imagine the horror of losing a precious baby. Some of us, unfortunately, know the shock and lasting pain, first-hand. In dread times such as these, we do well to remember our temporal existence in and on the physical Earth. As hard as it is to fathom, sometimes the little ones are more needed elsewhere. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14.

Well, from the very little I know, and as you may readily gather from that infectious photograph, it is a much brighter day in Heaven. That face and especially those big, blue eyes say, “Hello! I’m sweet though a bundle of fun trouble!” The parting message left for us first-person by Bexley, notes that among the things she loved the most were her mommy and daddy, her grandparents, and her puppies. You just know each was the world among the others.

It’s fascinating, to me, that I write about this brief encounter, particularly as I consider its context in my life. Why am I still here? For decades, I walked hand-in-hand, as a partner, with death. My own demise could have easily found me a hundred times over and yet it did not. I surmise the Almighty must require bubbly sweethearts more urgently than gruff, stubborn jarheads. (Who could blame Him?) And I could have told you a similar story about Gloria, but after thirty years, my words still fail me. I trust Bexley understands both my ponderings and my discourse.

This adorable little stranger-friend whom I never knew has given me the strength and the joy to look upon otherwise unspeakable tragedy as the celebration of the eternal. For this Miracle, I might deem her Saint Bexley (though I think she is not one for formal pretense).

I leave you with the following thoughts: our days, currently, have about them a bleak disposition. Some of us are sick. Some are scared. Some are unemployed. We lack a certain direction or purpose. Yet, it is all but temporary tribulation. Just as the Mightiest Son rose for us, so the smallest daughter helps us to raise our darkened spirits. So, right now, go on and hug your children – of any age. Leave a social distance between you that you couldn’t slip a piece of paper through.

Thank you and may God bless you,

Tom Ironsides

2020, Easter, Happy Easter

This one sure is a little different.

Comics-wise, this morning. Hi and Lois didn’t get the Emperor’s message and somehow went to church. Beetle Bailey and the gang went too. It’s not so much a coincidence, as Lois and Beetle are siblings (true). They must not live in Kentucky either, because in Kentucky if you can find an open church and go to it, then a talking sack of dog shit named Andy Beshear will send his stormtroopers to get you.

Then again, Someone once warned us we might be hated. I suppose that contrary to their worldly intentions, this all brings us a little closer to Him.

Spiritual Tithing

Catholic Church, Christianity, hoax, tithing

It’s like spiritual Communion, but instead of us not physically receiving the Eucharist, they don’t physically receive the money. What’s all this worry about?

Like most churches around the United States, St. Anselm’s will be closed on Sunday, its members unable to gather and its priests unable to meet with them as the nation endures its worst public-health crisis in a century.

But just as American churches have been unable to meet their members’ spiritual needs — perhaps most painfully represented in the absence of public funerals for the thousands who have died — they also have faced their own unmet needs in the form of untouched collection baskets.

“We are in uncharted waters, financially,” said John Quaglione, a St. Anselm’s parishioner who is also a spokesman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. “There will be some serious conversations and some strong conversations with the parishes and the economic folks to help get us through this.”

Yeah, those “economic folks” will help alright – not that any help is needed. This is quid pro quo from the Holy Spirit. Far from being a reduction, spiritual tithing allows any Faithful to increase the gift. For example, there’s no difference between a spiritual tithe and a spiritual vicesima. Just remember: literal money cannot pass through closed and locked doors.

And where is Pope Benedict?!

hoax, idiots, libertarians

Much like conservatives, when it comes down to it, libertarians have few if any principles.

“Libertarian though I may be, this is the right thing to do but, my goodness, we ought not to allow this situation to endure one moment longer than is absolutely necessary to save lives and preserve jobs,” he said last month. “We are implementing tonight in this bill at least a dystopian society.”

Libertarian principles of self-reliance and minimal government have been around for centuries. But they are being tested as never before in a time when much of the world, and many of their adherents, see a clear role for government restriction on basic liberties.

Blah, blah, blah – we all know where this is going: they’ll recommend more weed.

Good Friday

Welcome to the Bergoglio’d virtual Holy Week.

Church doors will be shut and the Vatican sealed off when Pope Francis leads 1.3 billion Catholics in Easter Sunday celebrations held under a worldwide coronavirus lockdown.

Fear and confusion in the face of a disease whose toll has unrelentingly climbed towards 100,000 are reshaping society and transforming the way religion is observed.

The devil could have done no worse. Now, don’t worry – soon we’ll be on to the next hoax.

Economic collapse, Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, no shit

That Princeton-Georgetown education is really paying off, let me tell you. Fed Chair Jay Powell says we’re going to hell in a handbasket.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell said Thursday the U.S. economy is in an emergency and is deteriorating “with alarming speed.” His remarks came shortly after the central bank unveiled over $2 trillion in new loans to keep the economy afloat as much of the nation goes into a lockdown to fight the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

In totally unrelated news, the long-lost bridge recordings from the SS Edmund Fitzgerald have finally surfaced. On the final log, Captain McSorley is heard saying, “It appears we are taking on water. Therefore, I have directed that the bilge pumps be reversed. The added ballast should surely solve our local emergency.”
