1965, 19th Amendment, 2033, decline, deep deep decline, Nuclear Weapons

The curse of 19 and the gifts of 1965! Hoorah…

Politically, economically, and chemically ignorant “voters” herald the decline progress:

The League of Women Voters of South Carolina opposes the production of nuclear weapon cores, known as pits, in the Palmetto State, a stance that starkly contrasts with the open arms of some state lawmakers and other local officials.

The nonpartisan political group, a branch of the larger League of Women Voters, renewed its resistance last Tuesday in a lengthy announcement.

There’s already enough plutonium and waste at the Savannah River Site, and there are already enough nuclear weapons in play throughout the world, the state group argued, for a local pit production mission to be necessary.

Tom I. mentions something in a certain book about the nuclear slide; 80 per year won’t cut it unless declining armament is the goal.

And! No changes whatsoever, thanks to Mssrs. Kennedy and Celler:

In the latest evidence of the effect Latin American immigrants are having on the United States, the number of U.S. counties that have turned majority Hispanic has doubled.

New Census Bureau data analyzed by the Pew Research Center found that from 2000 to 2018, the number of majority Hispanic counties jumped from 34 to 69.

What’s more, the overall number of U.S. counties that turned majority minority-based, mostly Hispanic or African American, also surged to 151 from 110 in 2000. Most of those counties are in Southern California and along the Mexico-U.S. border.

“Overall, 69 counties were majority Hispanic in 2018, 72 were majority black and 10 were majority American Indian or Alaska Native. The majority American Indian or Alaska Native counties are unique in that most have experienced overall population declines since 2000, even as the share of American Indian or Alaska Native residents in these counties remained fairly flat,” said the Pew analysis.

Exactly like 1964. Or, 1792. 2033. Maybe it’s good to let the nukes lapse after all.

Public Schools = Child Torture

child abuse, felony, Illinois, schools

When I wrote in my book about the schools being prisons and treating children worse than prisoners of war, I was dead serious. But, even I wasn’t fully aware of what goes on in many Illinois schools (and, rest assured, other states too). This is one of the most damning reports I have ever read on the subject.

The spaces have gentle names: The reflection room. The cool-down room. The calming room. The quiet room.

But shut inside them, in public schools across the state, children as young as 5 wail for their parents, scream in anger and beg to be let out.

The students, most of them with disabilities, scratch the windows or tear at the padded walls. They throw their bodies against locked doors. They wet their pants. Some children spend hours inside these rooms, missing class time. Through it all, adults stay outside the door, writing down what happens.

In Illinois, it’s legal for school employees to seclude students in a separate space — to put them in “isolated timeout” — if the students pose a safety threat to themselves or others. Yet every school day, workers isolate children for reasons that violate the law, an investigation by the Chicago Tribune and ProPublica Illinois has found.

Children were sent to isolation after refusing to do classwork, for swearing, for spilling milk, for throwing Legos. School employees use isolated timeout for convenience, out of frustration or as punishment, sometimes referring to it as “serving time.”

Of course, some fools want to run to other government criminals for help. B’rer Fox, Br’er Wolf… Homeschool or die. Serving time? Why haven’t the police arrested these child abusers?! These monsters deserve to be rounded up, chained together, doused in oil, and burned alive. Just damn!

I suppose it’s no longer needed with the Empire’s fake espionage charges looming and Assange being tortured to death in jail.

Prosecutors in Sweden dropped the preliminary investigation due to a lack of evidence.

An additional interview with the 48-year-old “wouldn’t significantly change the balance of evidence,” the authorities said today.

The probe was reopened in the summer but it was ruled Assange couldn’t be extradited to Sweden from the UK.

Assange has always denied the allegation.

Back in June, the UK Home Secretary signed an order allowing Assange to be extradited to the US.

Maybe the US could kindly drop its charges based on lack of evidence and a lack of jurisdiction, lack of malum in se, etc. Railroad Jullian, ride shotgun for Andrew. Nice. Way to go, GB!

The first 5-Star review of THE SUBSTITUTE is now live at Amazon:

Thomas
5.0 out of 5 starsA GRITTY, REALISTIC LOOK INSIDE THE PUBLIC SCHOOL

November 17, 2019

It takes courage to write a book. Few things are as intimidating as sitting down in front of a blank computer screen day after day and trying to fill it with something worthwhile. Perrin Lovett is doubly brave. He has written an original, exciting, entertaining story. But he also had the courage to take on the most sacred cow in the vast American herd – the public schools. THE SUBSTITUTE gives us a vivid, realistic, inside look at the failing public schools based on real, day-to-day experience. Many non-fiction studies of public education have been appeared in the past few years. But THE SUBSTITUTE is the only novel on the subject I’m aware of that compares to the famous “muckraker novels” of the early 20th Century that exposed such social evils as child labor, worker safety, and political corruption. Writers like Upton Sinclair, Ida Tarbell, and Lincoln Steffens changed America by using fictional truth to expose the social ills they addressed. I hope that Perrin Lovett’s novel will have a similar effect on how we look at public schools, which demand an ever greater bite of tax revenue while producing an ever worse result.

Perrin Lovett is a natural story-teller, with a superb command of language and a tone, sardonic at times, that is appropriate to his subject. And he has created a splendid protagonist, Dr. Tom Ironsides, the substitute of the title. Dr. Ironsides is also Colonel Ironsides, retired from the Marine Corps and from subsequent “black ops” with the CIA. He is an academic, trained in the Classics, and a warrior, trained to function in a world where survival demands competence.

At first I was concerned how Lovett would get such an engaging character from the battlefield against terrorism to the battlefield against ignorance. But he does it quite well, quite credibly. Ironsides is one of those people with the self-confidence and the idealism to want to spend his later life setting things right. What better venue for his knowledge, skills, and natural authority than the schools? But since he’s not officially certified, he has to start out teaching as a full-time substitute. As a substitute, he covers many different grade levels and subjects, giving the reader a genuine cross-section autopsy of an unsustainable system. It’s crushed by its own bureaucracy, treats its students more like inmates of a prison, destroys love of learning, and drains the heart out of the teachers. Most of them love their kids and aspire to teach them well, but they’re over-burdened with ever more testing and data-keeping and bureaucratic procedure. Instead of making the classroom a place of excellence in learning, public schools are creating sinkholes of mediocrity.

I won’t spoil the ending except to say it’s very satisfying. It’s fictional, of course, but it ends the only way the whole national public school debacle can end if America is to remain a strong, free, prosperous, self-governing nation. Only a well-educated people can keep it that way. If we do follow the new course described in THE SUBSTITUTE, we’ll have Perrin Lovett to thank.

Wow. That feels like a heavy responsibility. For my part, I’ve started making a few minor changes to the book. First, there are always little improvements to make, my pedantic CYA in the Afterword aside. Second, the formatting needs a little work, which I can accomplish soon. (For that, I blame the computer and the template).

Impotent, Powerless, and Stupid: the GOP in 2019

No wonder the Groypers are giving the establishment cucks fits. PCR on the rot in the GOP:

When you start thinking along these lines other puzzling questions come to mind. For example, why does the leadership of the Democratic Party seem to be in the hands of feminists and people of color on one side and crooks like Joe Biden on the other. What holds a party this naturtally divided together?

Why does an anti-white odor emanate from the Democratic Party, especially an anti-white heterosexual male ordor? Why are all of Epstein’s pedophile clients Democrats? Has the Democratic Party become the party of immigrant-invaders and sexual perverts?

Republicans come across as impotent, powerless, and stupid. They have stood there impotently while two of their more effective fundraisers and political advisers, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone, were framed in broad daylight by the utterly corrupt Russiagate special prosecutor Robert Mueller and sentenced to prison. This never happens to Democrats. Only to Republicans. The Epstein case has disappeared.

Mueller was empowered to investigate Trump’s cooperation with Russian influence on his election. No one gave Mueller the task of investigating the long ago and unrelated financial affairs of Manafort and Stone.

Trump with the weakest response against an impeachment devoid of any evience is afraid to pardon Mueller’s victims, people convicted of offenses that are unrelated to the Russiagate investigation. The entire purpose of the false convictions of Manafort and Stone is to prove that Republicans are too scared to protect their own. Mueller’s purpose was to break-up the ranks of Trump supporters and turn them against one another. Once one runs for the exit, the rest follow.

Stupid is as Republican does, but things trend ridiculous. It will be instructive (or would be) to the GOP herd when Trump wins 2020 handily, even as they lose ground. It would be, but the stupid thing. A party no more?

Could be that years of whining by the “alternative” community has taken its toll.

Beginning next year, Chick-fil-A will move away from its current philanthropic structure, Bisnow has learned. After donating to more than 300 charitable organizations this year, the Atlanta-based fast-food chain will instead focus on three initiatives with one accompanying charity each: education, homelessness and hunger.

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos said in an interview with Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”

The new initiative will no longer include donating to organizations like the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home, Chick-fil-A says, all of which sparked criticism in the past from the LGBT community due to the organizations’ stances on homosexuality.

Big Paul would not be pleased.

My advance copy of a review headed to The Substitute Amazon page. This is, frankly, better than any description I’ve ever attempted:

It takes courage to write a book. Few things are as intimidating as sitting down in front of a blank computer screen day after day and trying to fill it with something worthwhile. Perrin Lovett is doubly brave. He has given us an exciting, entertaining story. But he also had the courage to take on the most sacred cow in the vast American herd – the public schools. THE SUBSTITUTE gives us a vivid, realistic, inside look at the failing public schools based on real, day-to-day experience. Many non-fiction studies of public education have been appeared in the past few years. But THE SUBSTITUTE is the only novel on the subject I’m aware of that compares to the famous “muckraker novelists” of the early 20th Century who exposed such social evils as child labor, worker safety, and political corruption. These writers changed America by shining the light of truth on the social ills they addressed.

He is an academic, trained in the Classics, and a warrior, trained to function in a world where competence equals survival.

As a substitute, he covers many different grade levels and subjects, giving us a genuine cross-section autopsy of an unsustainable system. It’s crushed by its own bureaucracy, treats its students more like inmates of a prison, destroys love of learning, and drains the heart out of the teachers – most of whom love their kids and want to do well – burdening them with ever more testing and data-keeping and procedures instead of allowing them to instruct.

Who writes that? Thomas Moore, author of A Fatal Mercy and Hunt for Confederate Gold. Hopefully, this will spark a string of five-stars!  I’ll have a picture added, here, once the review hit Amazon. Now, if it all falls apart, am I to blame?? This is the kind of accolade one wants but then feels the burden of. Thanks, Tom!

PS: TPC “preview” – I keep waffling on ideas this week. Whatever it is, it will be good. See that, mid-week.

Aurelius, books, fiction, novel, The Substitute, Tom Ironsides

The Substitute is out only a month now. It’s selling, though it has yet to receive the kind of reviews necessary to really promote it. Those, I suppose, are coming soon. And, soon … I intend to make a YT video for promotional purposes. Soon. Yet and still, I’m already getting requests for a follow-up.

A comment on this week’s TPC column:

When’s the next book in “The Substitute” coming out?!? I want to know how Tom’s school is going, as well as his love life! Will even proof, pre-press, for an autograph. 😉

How can I refuse that? I can’t:

Thank you! 2!! books are currently underway. One is a near-immediate prequel to “The Substitute”, a fast-paced, first-person (Tom) action-intrigue thriller novella with the working title, “Aurelius.” About five chapters into that (maybe 25-30%). The second has another Latin title and is of a DARK subject matter, only tangentially related to The Sub. (Tom makes a mere cameo). But, yes, somewhere out there is a continuation – on several fronts. In brief: the school does well, and Tom and Carmyn are a thing. There’s so much backstory coming it’s indescribable, here and now. The great romances are coming. And more action. The big sellers… I will take you up on the offer! We shall initiate contact, likely via MB, soon. P

When? Probably this coming winter. I meant to have Aurelius online by Christmas, but I think that is not going to happen. Your Highly respected Web Log author, columnist, educator, and Novelist(!) is kind of busy.
