This is a C.F. Floyd first. Previously I had not contemplated the use of interviews. However, when something like the following comes along, I simply cannot pass on passing the portent along to the eager masses. And, heck, everyone loves a victim, right?
This particular woman chooses to remain anonymous, a condition I will honor. And, rather than drafting an article which, let’s face it, might be at odds with my column of two weeks ago, I decided to merely provide the transcript of my weekend encounter with “Miss. X.” Please read the whole thing and then draw your own conclusions.
The following story required me to travel a considerable distance into strange, undisclosed territory. Fans, you’re welcome. MB, expense report inbound.
Advisory: The following, which totally happened, may contain adult language.

From TPC:

Fake Money and Fake Debt Make Real Problems

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be; For loan oft loses both itself and friend.”
– Polonius to Laertes, Hamlet, Act I, Scene III.
America has a debt problem. In a time of a booming economy mentioning that is out of vogue. Democrats aren’t talking about it. Republicans aren’t talking about it. President Trump isn’t talking about it. They know, they’re just staying quiet while they can.
The Federal Reserve knows. So do the talking heads at CNBC. If one listens very hard one will occasionally hear the faintest murmur from those quarters that something might be amiss.
During the good times, no-one wants to talk about bubbles no matter how big or bad they are. Peter Schiff is an exception. In a recent article for the New York Post by John Aidan Byrne, Schiff predicted the next depression (with a “D”).
“We won’t be able to call it a recession, it’s going to be worse than the Great Depression,” said economic commentator Peter Schiff, forecasting a major economic downturn as early as the tail end of the Trump presidency’s first term. “The US economy is in so much worse shape than it was a decade ago.”
We are, statistically, historically, overdue for a downturn. It’s not a matter of if as much a matter of when. So, “when?” While not as unpredictable as the Second Coming, this question is best answered with a hearty “sooner or later.” Some of us have been saying that for a while.

Things are heating up in the District of Corruption. My offbeat guest last week offered some interesting insight into life and times in the Swamp – along with a glimpse inside the mind of a schizophrenic. One thing really stood out as a panicked admission: “The deep state is in trouble.” Yeah. More than she, you, or they believe.
Unless you’ve been under a television soaking up the NCAA/NFL opiates, you know that the Senate is currently in the process of vetting Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh will be confirmed here shortly. And he will be (should be) as good a Justice as one could expect at such a late hour.

(Zi work for the Democrats but similar-feelz workers and Zir have pledged to undo the last vestiges of freedom-minded civility therein. And RUSSIA!!!)
Forward by Perrin Lovett: I am, today, taking a rare break from my duties as your C.F. Floyd Writer for National Affairs. My apologies but the following is important … and I felt lazy over the weekend. I was inspired by the brave, anonymous, totally unverifiable, and probably make believe Op-Ed in Carlos Slim’s Blog The New York Times last week. The guest author herein is a senior official in the Democratic National Committee and Politburo whose identity is known only to me and my trusty Possum, Tater, and whose very life would be endangered by something if, you know, stuff happened. I believe that only through satirical anonymity can the truth be of service and not of dissent. I invite my readers to submit questions about my policies in publishing this tripe and my extensively exhaustive R&D worthiness testing regarding the difference  – please submit those anywhere but here.

—–

The Democratic Party is facing a test of their will to dominate all life unlike any obstacle faced by any modern band of serially unemployable hacks since at least Stalingrad, maybe later.

It’s not just that there are probably sealed military indictments awaiting execution. Or that the country has united in a sense of being sick and tired of marginalization, cultural and economic rape, and destruction. Or even that In-N-Out Burger has John 3:16 printed inside the bottoms of their soda cups.

The dilemma — as we try and try again to slouch towards Gomorrah — is that maybe four or five senior members of or elected officials within Zest Zown Party are working lazily to frustrate the total fulfillment of the Marxist agenda here in the boundaryless ideological proposition formerly known as “America.” Like some lingering specter of Sam Nunn or Zell Miller they just will not fade away.

(It’s like Chick-fil-A, but worse.)

Friends, sometimes the topics come easy. This weekend, as usual, I pondered over a few subjects. We have the funny money and the ticking debt bomb. There are the increasingly believable and patriotic-looking “Q” men and the hope they bring to the downtrodden. (“Soon” indeed). There’s The Fall of Gondolin. So many affairs national.

Then, as sometimes happens, I read a simple story: in The Hill by Megan Keller: ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ sparks protests in rural, Southern towns. The Chronicles being based in one of those Southern towns, I figured we could have our own protest. I’ll lead.

The concept is as simple as it is insidious:

[Perrin Lovett] – Entering Into the Age of Post Literacy (Like Unto Illiteracy, But Lazier)

This Monday, August 27th, the mighty Vox Day explained why he retired his former weekly column. He stopped because, in brief, his contributions – as great as they were – made no difference in the grand scheme of things. His admission came in response to a recent Fred Reed article, in which Fred pondered why anyone writes columns anymore. What a way to start a column, huh?
Thanks for bearing with me so far. I was struggling with a subject matter appropriate for (worthy of) today’s discussion. There’s so darned much going on all the time! And I try very hard to find the best, most interesting, and more important topics to cover. Even now, as I’m stream-of-consciousness-ing this thing together, I’m still fighting to cobble the pieces. But, there is a reason why I mention the foregoing – a seemingly futile reason:
People Aren’t Reading Anymore!
No, no, no, no. That “people” reference obviously does not include my beloved, enlightened, and better-smelling-than-most audience here. But, in general, it is a growing problem.
A recent study found that among today’s high schoolers, only two percent read the daily news and a third haven’t read anything in the past year. Staggering. A silver lining is that fewer teens are watching pre-programmed nonsense via movies and traditional television. But they still stare at screens all day, jumping from one app to the next in a frantic effort to communicate something trivial to someone largely unknown. A mass of media, a dearth of intellectual understanding. Sadly, it’s not just the kids.
They call this new bookless thing the “postliterate society.” I think I shall refrain from membership therein. But I’ve used the term “postliterate” myself from time to time, perhaps without really understanding what it is or how it truly affects the culture.
Hook the book in the nook. Picture from Medium.
In the brave new world, some say that reading and writing is no longer a necessity. We’re led to believe that many know how to read, they just don’t want to read. Per Bruce Powe: “the literate sensibility no longer occupies a central position in culture, society, and politics.” I hesitate to agree, but I think that is us in a nutshell … maybe an accurate description of the literary lives of the under-40 generations.
Ironically, Fahrenheit 451 is noted as a fictional postliterate society. If no one reads the books, what’s the point in burning them? Ah well, at least we’ve got the mechanical hound.
Education professionals have noticed the ramifications. Says Connecticut high school history teacher Christopher Doyle:
Books, long idealized as foundational shapers of intellect, no longer mold young people’s minds. While continuing to tout their merits, educators marginalize books and have not come to grips with the book’s declining role in society. Over the last few years, my high school students’ facility for print culture has atrophied markedly. They also exhibit cognitive blind spots for narratives and higher meanings. Their educations even contribute to post-literacy.
…
Post-literate schooling does isolate students from narrative structures conveying meaning. It also juvenilizes via technologies that oversimplify and denigrate analysis. Such tools contribute to overwhelm and disconnect: Kids drown in data bereft of higher logic.
[Double Emphasis, mine].
Those unable to critically process or synthesize the information “drown in data bereft of higher logic.” As I said, “A mass of media, a dearth of intellectual understanding.” Otherwise capable minds atrophy as one lesson after another passes unobserved right before the eyes. Those not capable of grasping the obvious are much more susceptible to the various maladies of greater society. They fail to recognize patterns in reality. One could easily use this as a partial explanation for falling IQ’s, rising BMI’s, drunkenness and drug addiction, rising debts, falling longevity, declining health, collapsing morals, political superstitions, economic ignorance, the trading of freedom for security, and even the emulation of hideous “celebrity.”
Even when concepts are semi-understood, there’s often a lack of appreciation for concomitant context. Worse, some are just smart enough to attempt to derail the thought train for everyone else. Here – I get to work in another topic – please see the example of “Saint Gamma” and his misplaced (and incorrect) comments on last week’s TPC column (about number six, as added by me from Facebook).
Last week I made the twin points that Christianity is under attack and that child molestation is bad. I also warned against Facebook participation via my endnote. Sooooooo, the Right Rev. Just-Bright-Enough-to-be-a-Nuisance chimed in, on Facebook!, with concocted nonsense, demonstrably false and 100% off topic. He ignored what I wrote, planted his own fantastic ideas which render just about everyone other than himself a heretic, and then failed to offer any solution to the fake problem of his own creation. His addition was useless outside of helping me make a point, here, and giving me something to rebut, there. Thanks, Bub…
In fairness, I did a modicum of research on the man. He seems harmless, well-meaning even. But he has a very limited and biased grasp of his own chosen field of expertise. Bereft of higher logic (in this case about Higher Logic), he embraces cognitive blindness to deftly dodge the narrative. Based on my own observations of late, casual and professional, I think he’s in the majority now. But,
We Can Fix It! Here’s How:
  • Read! Everything. Reverse the curse. Read books, newspapers, and the back of the cereal box. Skim words in languages you don’t even know.
  • Aside from however you peruse TPC, lay off the screens. Someone else will crush the candy.
  • Consider (strongly) at least a partial boycott of TeeVee and the Mooo-vies. By and large, they both jumped the shark a long time ago. And went back and did it again. And then started beating the poor fish. It’s a stinking mess…
  • Read some more. Seek out things in which you previously had no interest. Look for ideas and opinions contrary to your own. Challenge yourself.
  • Exercise. Pump iron. Run. Walk. Move. Physical exertion (and healthy eating) not only improves the body, it also stimulates the mind.
  • So stimulated, start thinking hard about everything you read and, especially, everything you see and hear outside the written word. Learn to run a little critical analysis on everything. If nothing else, it makes life more fun.
  • Finally, whatever else you do, please remember to always check in with TPC at least once per day. Twice a day is even better.
Seriously. Don’t let MB down.
That’s it for today, for this week. A preview of possible topics for next week (to which I am not bound in the slightest): there’s an election coming (I can smell it); someday soon we may all find out what happens when there is too much debt; or too much migration; a new Tolkien book (yes, a new Tolkien book) is due imminently; there’s a new cigar in the making, and, of course; there’s always the threat of another short fictional story. Or something.
*Another Facebook Note: Your author has fled the Zuckerberg plantation. While not expecting anyone else to join me in freedom, I do ask that cogent comments to these articles be directed here, via the cute little comment button due south. In theory, I suppose one could still comment on FB: “If a reader comments on Facebook and Perrin isn’t around to read it, will Zuck and the Trust Brigade still ban it?” I may never know…

Or, here:

22 August 2018

[Perrin Lovett] – Horrific New Light Shed on the Crisis in the Roman Catholic Church (That Crisis Which Threatens All of Christendom)

Christianity is one of the three fundamental pillars of Western Civilization (along with the Greco-Roman legal legacy and the European nation-state). And, of the three, it is arguably the most important. The West cannot stand without it. Our enemies know this and that is behind the constant globo-secular attacks on the Faithful and the Church. Those assaults, however, are likely not the worst obstacle to our continued functioning religion and way of life.

The real threat is inside. Many in Europe, in America, and elsewhere have been aware of this phenomenon for years. But last week a story surfaced which renewed the call to alertness and action like nothing I have ever seen before.
In a blog post last week I first examined the spectacle, one seemingly lifted from the pages of a gothic horror novel. A Pennsylvania grand jury released a 900-page report detailing over 1,000 cases of predatory sexual abuse, committed by some 300 priests and other leadership figures, over many decades, at various PA Catholic parishes and institutions.
Read The Report HERE. ***WARNING: This is among the vilest evil imaginable.***

We, the members of this grand jury, need you to hear this. We know some of you have head some of it before. There have been other reports about child sex abuse within the Catholic Church. But never on this scale. For many of us, those earlier stories happened someplace else, someplace away. Now we know the truth: it happened everywhere.

Remember that PA is but one of 50 states in one of about 195 countries with practicing Catholic populations. PA has roughly 3.5 million Catholics out of 1.285 billion worldwide (or .0027%). Out of such large numbers, even in the Keystone State alone, the percentage tally of abuse incidents and victims is statistically small. However, the concern should be huge. The real problem is with the priests and the hierarchy. These are clergymen who, direct abuses aside, simply cannot administer their offices effectively.
After reading more of the cases than I cared to, I discerned a pattern: abuse, cover-up, abuse, cover-up, shielding from civil justice, insanely slow administration of Canon justice, and denial. Why and how did it take so long for this to become public knowledge? Parishioners have literally been held hostage and forced to pay (hush money) for the abuse. Such a tragedy is beyond belief. It’s beyond systemic corruption. It is indicative of the embedded presence of Lucifer and his evil.
I, along with others, call for a purge. A macro purge would involve reversing Vatican II and probably Vat. I as well. At the operational level, every single identifiable satanist, atheist, sodomite, pederast, communist, and globalist in the Church must be removed. (It would be just to remove many from the world, period).
Without a substantial overhaul, traditional Catholics are left with three choices: 1) continue to suffer; 2) withhold money and support in protest until reform comes, or; 3) leave (one notes Orthodox Churches do not seem similarly afflicted).
Picture from Vatican News.
On Monday, August 20th, Pope Francis responded via a Letter to the People of God. Therein he admitted:
Looking back to the past, no effort to beg pardon and to seek to repair the harm done will ever be sufficient.  Looking ahead to the future, no effort must be spared to create a culture able to prevent such situations from happening, but also to prevent the possibility of their being covered up and perpetuated.
One will note that among the various Biblical passages cited, Matthew 18:6 is absent. But, Amen!, we do need action. Some are already contemplated what I suggested above and the withholding of financial support. But, in testament to the force and nature of this trouble, even as some talk about a purge, others busy themselves building bridges and fomenting better relations with the enemy. Yes, wolves are eating the flock. So bring in more wolves! Madness.
Picture by browniecheesecake.com. And no offense offered to actual wolves, our lovely if noisy woodland friends.
The recent report, while very specific, is also somewhat applicable to the general and greater tribulation of the whole Church in the West. I recall a late article about the decline of Southern Baptists and other Protestants in South Carolina. The decline of Southern Baptists. In South Carolina. The Bible Belt. Said article paints a partial picture of post-Christian “culture.” It isn’t a Rembrandt: ”The share of Americans who identify with Christianity is declining, while those who say they have no religion is growing rapidly.” Remember the important pillar of that which we like to call Civilization…
The numbers are shocking. In less than a decade, while gaining 11 new Baptist church buildings, SC lost 78,516 church members. At this rate, in a few years, the state might only have 50,000 Southern Baptists, each attending his own, individual church… Unity?

This is the result of decades of decline, confusion, and degeneracy in society generally and, specifically, in the parishes. In a time and place where literally anything goes (unless it makes sense), people look for refuge in the Church. Increasingly, in place of sanctity and safety, what they find is more anything goes, worldly conformity, virtue signaling, postmodernism, taboos, rock n’ roll services, Churchianty, cotton candy theology, and, in many cases, outright evil.
This decline cannot stand. If it does, then we will not.

As promised, today’s work at TPC:

The mass, mainstream, slanted, biased, dishonest, yellow, establishment, corporate media has become the American equivalent and embodiment of Grima Wormtongue – slithering, slinking, whispering, and lying – ever misleading the just and the honest for the benefit of other masters. Some, tiring of the deception, bluntly call it what it is: fake news. This doesn’t sit well with Fake News, Inc. To wit:

Marjorie Pritchard, of the Boston Globe, made an impassioned call for editorials “denouncing what the newspaper called a ‘dirty war against the free press.’” And I, as your C.F. Floyd Feature Writer of National Affairs, hereby answer the call!

Estimates indicate that around 100 newspapers, large and small, will respond this week. Reckon TPC as number 101, kind of. Alas that I cannot denounce a war, dirty or otherwise, against the free press as such simply does not exist. Rather, consider this my part in the free war against the dirty press.

This all started with a Tweet from the President back in February. (Actually, it started years ago with the corruption of the mainstream media, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves). Tweeted Donald J. Trump: “The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!”

…

I felt this dissent important enough to forward to someone. My recent email:

Hon. Donald J. Trump
The White House

August 16, 2018

Dear Mr. President:

First, thank you for all that you do for America and for our beloved freedoms.

Second, today I understand that some 350 establishment newspapers, large and small, feature editorials excoriating you and your defense of the free people. This being done under the false guise of defending the “free press.” Some are even making claims about the First Amendment, apparently having lately discovered the Constitution. In doing so they prove they are not only the enemies of the people but organized and coordinated enemies. They prove they can offer nothing except Fake News.

Consider my column at The Piedmont Chronicles, http://www.thepiedmontchronicles.com/2018/08/perrin-lovett-one-of-many-free-war.html, editorial No. 351 (or 101 per original estimates). It is markedly different than the others.

Some of us – MOST of us – stand with you and your mission. While cheering your election I did maintain some differences with you here and there concerning policy. And I still do. However, my understanding (and appreciation) is now clearer as to the total scope of your work. In short: MAGA!

Thank you again for all that you do. May God bless you each day and may God bless America.

Sincerely,

Perrin Lovett

The more things change … the more they make one want to run off screaming into the mountains and never return. And they stay the same. But, worse maybe – worse because of all the ignored history and experience.

We’re told that socialism is coming to America. (It’s been lurking here to some time but whatever). For example, they’re pushing Bernie-Care. It’s not just the junior senator from Vermont with the whacky hair and the whackier ideas. Elizabeth Warren, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, [__Insert Democrat Name Here__] – they’re all abuzz about socialized medicine. This is to be something beyond the [Un]Affordable [No]Care Act; it’s intended as true Soviet Semashka British NHS-style, single-payer, socialized, communized “care.” Said care would likely consist of living in a box, paying exorbitant taxes, while some administrative flunky tells you that your emergency surgery has been postponed again and your doctor has defected to Mexico. But, anyway…

Perrin Lovett – Spying the Quiet Skies: Yet Another Evil “Secret” Program Exposed

The great thing about studying the government is that there is never an end to the discovery of new and, sometimes heretofore, secret programs! The bad thing is that one keeps discovering all these damned secret programs. This week’s revelation: the TSA spies on flying Americans, even those not suspected of anything.

Jana Winter of The Boston Globe broke the story over the weekend. Kudos, Ms. Winter. The Washington Post piled on, adding that the program, while secret, isn’t new; it’s been ongoing for a decade. Some of the Wa-Po comments are interesting too: no matter how bad it gets, there’s always a steady stream of American idiots ready to defend any and all manner of tyranny. “Thank Gaia the government keeps me saaaaaaaaafe…”

Getting right to it, thanks, again, to Ms. Winter:

Federal air marshals have begun following ordinary US citizens not suspected of a crime or on any terrorist watch list and collecting extensive information about their movements and behavior under a new domestic surveillance program that is drawing criticism from within the agency.
