Hilarious news from the Dead City today: efforts to impeach President Trump failed miserably. Against the wishes of their own leadership a gang of Dems led by Al Green of Texas alleged Trump committed the high crimes and misdemeanors of:

“[A]ssociation with “White Nationalism, Neo-Nazism and Hate,” as well as “Inciting Hatred and Hostility…”

(I think those are spelled out in Article 13, Sec. 69).

Said Green, “Friends, whether we like it or not, we now have a bigot in the White House who incites hatred and hostility.”

Despite no mention whatsoever of Russia, 58 Dems voted to move the process forward. The rest of the House, surely acting on orders from Moscow, killed the measure.

Now, now, now … to her credit, Nancy Pelosi “has insisted that any impeachment effort should be put on hold until there is evidence of an impeachable offense.” Imagine that.

Green, not one to be dissuaded, said he would take the issue to the NFL for a communal knee this Sunday. He says that way all 23 fans collectively in attendance may decide the matter.

A few blocks away and at almost the same time, while not seeming at all concerned about his imminent removal from office, the Hater in Chief, literal Hitler, and known inciter of hostility, Donald John Trump, aka THE Neo-NAZI, was busy recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital. (Yes. It does seem ironic when you think about it.) He also vowed to move the U.S. Embassy there from Tel Aviv.

In reaction to Trump’s announcement Hamas vowed a “day of rage.” Perhaps Green should join them?

Robert Mugabe “Safe,” Say Coup Leaders

Well, thank God for that. Hopefully he’s safely on his way to the gallows as I type.

In what may or may not be a coup (hmmm…) the army has seized control of Harare and Mugabe.

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe’s military said early Wednesday that it had taken custody of President Robert Mugabe, the world’s oldest head of state and one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders, in what increasingly appeared to be a military takeover in the southern African nation.

After apparently seizing the state broadcaster, ZBC, two uniformed officers said in a short predawn announcement that “the situation in our country has moved to another level.” While denying that the military had seized power, they said that Mr. Mugabe and his family “are safe and sound, and their security is guaranteed.”

“We are only targeting criminals around him who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice,” said the main speaker, who was identified as Maj. Gen. S. B. Moyo, the army’s chief of staff.

The criminals around him!!! Mugabe is like a gas giant planet, a big, ugly, ancient, decrepit, smelly gas giant; he, being the main criminal, has scores of smaller hoods orbiting around like moons and rings. Happy hunting there, generals!

Coup in Zimbabwe?

Interesting. Couldn’t happen to a finer country nor a thuggier thug.

HARARE (Reuters) – Zimbabwe’s ruling party accused the head of the armed forces of treason on Tuesday as troops took up positions around the capital in an escalation of a dispute with 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe over political succession.

Just 24 hours after military chief General Constantino Chiwenga threatened to intervene to end a purge in the ruling party, a Reuters reporter saw six armored personnel carriers on major thoroughfares on the outskirts of the capital.

Aggressive soldiers directing traffic told passing cars to keep moving through the darkness.

“Don’t try anything funny. Just go,” one soldier said on Harare Drive.

The presence of troops, including the movement of at least six armored personnel carriers from a barracks northwest of Harare, sparked rumors of coup against Mugabe, although there was no evidence to suggest Zimbabwe’s leader of the last 37 years had been toppled.

The lead item on the ZBC state broadcaster’s evening news bulletin was an anti-military rally by the youth wing of Mugabe’s ZANU-PF party.

The Southern African nation has been on edge since Monday when Chiwenga, Commander of Zimbabwe Defence Forces, said he was prepared to “step in” to end a purge of supporters of a sacked vice president.

The unprecedented statement represents an escalation of a rumbling political struggle over who will succeed Mugabe, who has been in power since the country gained independence from Britain in 1980.

Those things run on diesel. Who knew they had any left? REUTERS/Philimon Bulawayo.

I know some (mostly idiot coastal academics) hold modern Rhodesia Zimbabwe and Mugabe in high esteem for Mugabe’s agricultural “reforms,” tolerant, open, and honest governance, and economic stabilization. I simply detest the senile bastard and weep for what the people lost (or gave away … took … whatever).

A week or so back I had drafted a comedy piece of sorts about Mugabe, based on his recent handling of a certain American college student (whose professors probably adore the warlord in chief). It needs a little tweaking but it’s pretty good. Coming soon! Yes, and if this rumor turns out true, I could perhaps append a very happy ending – maybe with a picture of Mugabe on a pike or the gallows or something.

Hope springs eternal.

Hello all veterans and others!

Consider this the Saturday football halftime report. They got a game in Starkville right now.

Anyway, I couldn’t decide on a topic so here are two:

Three Men, One Cause, Multiple Suspicions

On May 22, 1949, former Secretary of Defense James Forrestal fell to his death from the sixteenth floor of the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. An investigation by a Navy review board found no definitive cause for his death, which was assumed by many to be suicide.

On May 2, 1957, Senator Joseph McCarthy died from acute hepatitis at the Bethesda hospital. Just a few days earlier, he’d been admitted to the hospital with a knee injury. No cause for the hepatitis was ever given. No autopsy was conducted.

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while visiting Dallas, Texas. An autopsy conducted at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center late that evening resulted in controversy over the extent of the president’s wounds and how they ultimately were caused. The wounds viewed by many eyewitnesses in Dallas and Bethesda weren’t reflected in the final Warren Commission report.

Inflation, the Government Gift that Never Gives…

Inflation is not caused by the butcher, the baker, or the auto maker, although they usually get blamed. On the contrary, by producing real wealth, they fight the effects of inflation. Inflation is the work of government alone, since government alone controls the creation of currency.

In a true free-market society, the only way a person or organization can legitimately obtain wealth is through production. “Making money” is no different from “creating wealth,” and money is nothing but a certificate of production. In our world, however, the government can create currency at trivial cost, and spend it at full value in the marketplace. If taxation is the expropriation of wealth by force, then inflation is its expropriation by fraud.

To inflate, a government needs complete control of a country’s legal money. This has the widest possible implications, since money is much more than just a medium of exchange. Money is the means by which all other material goods are valued. It represents, in an objective way, the hours of one’s life spent in acquiring it. And if enough money allows one to live life as one wishes, it represents freedom as well. It represents all the good things one hopes to have, do, and provide for others. Money is life concentrated.

There. No time for a pic. Gotta drink. Night. – P

Paradise Papers Demonstrate how the Elite Hide their Assets

This must be just like bankin’ in paradise
And I don’t send the taxes home.

-My apologies to David Lee Roth…

The second largest data leak in history, the Paradise Papers, shows how the truly wealthy avoid paying taxes.

The world’s biggest businesses, heads of state and global figures in politics, entertainment and sport who have sheltered their wealth in secretive tax havens are being revealed this week in a major new investigation into Britain’s offshore empires.

The details come from a leak of 13.4m files that expose the global environments in which tax abuses can thrive – and the complex and seemingly artificial ways the wealthiest corporations can legally protect their wealth.

The material, which has come from two offshore service providers and the company registries of 19 tax havens, was obtained by the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and shared by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists with partners including the Guardian, the BBC and the New York Times.

The project has been called the Paradise Papers. It reveals:

Millions of pounds from the Queen’s private estate has been invested in a Cayman Islands fund – and some of her money went to a retailer accused of exploiting poor families and vulnerable people.

Extensive offshore dealings by Donald Trump’s cabinet members, advisers and donors, including substantial payments from a firm co-owned by Vladimir Putin’s son-in-law to the shipping group of the US commerce secretary, Wilbur Ross.

How Twitter and Facebook received hundreds of millions of dollars in investments that can be traced back to Russian state financial institutions.

The tax-avoiding Cayman Islands trust managed by the Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau’s chief moneyman.

A previously unknown $450m offshore trust that has sheltered the wealth of Lord Ashcroft.

It’s how Apple hides $252 Billion!!!! from the tax man.

They reveal how Apple sidestepped a 2013 crackdown on its controversial Irish tax practices by actively shopping around for a tax haven.

It then moved the firm holding most of its untaxed offshore cash, now $252bn, to the Channel Island of Jersey.

Apple said the new structure had not lowered its taxes.

It said it remained the world’s largest taxpayer, paying about $35bn (£26bn) in corporation tax over the past three years, that it had followed the law and its changes “did not reduce our tax payments in any country”.

One assumes that these elites and giant organizations earned the money, most of it. It’s theirs. Wanting to keep as much as possible is understandable: 1) it’s theirs, and 2) they can use the money to grow the economy. Otherwise, if taxed, the money gets spent on subsidies to ag. companies, bombing brown people, and compensating bankers for the most important kind of nothing.

The hypocrisy (and shock) comes in when one realizes these are usually the same types that rig the system for their own benefit, leaving the rest of us to pay the bills. And our paying isn’t enough. They lecture us. Regulate us. Rule us.

Carlin, Carlin, Carlin, Carlin: “It’s a Big Club. And You ain’t in it! You and I are not in the Big Club.”

I foresee this changing little, if anything. Heck, forget I brought it up. And God help whoever brought this to light. The last such intrepid reporter was car-bombed.

Terrorists are always known to authorities in advance. Always.

– Perrin’s First Law of Terrorism.

Sayfullo Saipov, the POS enemy combatant and assault truck enthusiast, was of course vetted (ahem…) when he came crawling to America in 2010, with all that bike path driving diversity, under the failure that is our immigration law. First knowledge.

Then, as luck would have it, he was investigated by the [pick: incompetent or complicit] feds in 2015 – for terrorism of all things. Second knowledge.

Sayfullo Saipov, who has been charged with killing eight people in a vehicle attack on the West Side of Manhattan on Tuesday, was interviewed in 2015 by federal agents about possible ties to suspected terrorists but a case was never opened against him, law enforcement officials tell ABC News.

Sometimes they’re known twice.

Tin Foil Hat Land: Those CRAZY Conspiracy Theories

You see, according to the statists, any independent thinking about or criticism of anything coming from the government constitutes a conspiracy theory. Such is synonymous with insane nuttery. All utterances about anything from the government are the literal God’s honest truth (Nature’s truth, whatever).

It works like this:

Crazy Conspiracy Theory:

Mueller and the Government may have (may have) violated Paul Manafort’s civil rights:

Ex-campaign adviser Paul Manafort turned himself into the FBI on Monday after being indicted for money laundering, and a slew of other financial crimes. The feds alleged he illegally funneled millions of dollars of payments into offshore bank accounts in order to avoid detection by U.S. authorities as it related to his work on behalf of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. While the indictment containing Manfort’s alleged criminal activities is very detailed, and well-documented, there is one area that could hurt Mueller’s investigation. Mueller’s team may have obtained evidence in the raid of Paul Manafort’s home that was not covered by the search warrant. That could be problematic.

In a surprise raid on July 26th, FBI agents busted into Manafort’s home in Alexandria, Virginia to collect documents and other materials related to the FBI probe into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. At the time, Manafort’s attorney raised concerns about how the raid was conducted. In order for the feds to obtain a warrant, a federal judge would have to determine that probable cause existed that a crime was committed. As part of the warrant, investigators attached an affidavit which contained a list of items that FBI agents hoped to collect. That’s where the trouble appears to be in Manafort’s case.

As a legal website, we were immediately drawn to the revelation that evidence was collected that may not have been covered by the warrant. That’s a serious development, and one that Manafort’s attorneys will no doubt seize upon. But, is it necessarily illegal? Did the agents do anything wrong? It’s not clear. It certainly could raise some serious constitutional issues that could taint the investigation.

Not a Crazy Conspiracy Theory:

That Manafort, et al, Conspired Against the Government….

Manafort and Gates were charged in a 12-count indictment with conspiracy to launder money, making false statements and other charges. They are expected to make their first court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah A. Robinson at 1:30 p.m.

The charges against Manafort and Gates did not reference the Trump campaign, a point President Trump noted on Twitter Monday. “Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign. But why aren’t Crooked Hillary & the Dems the focus?????” Trump wrote.

Read the Indictment.

Dept. of Justice [SIC].

There you have it. The government concocts a 31-page narrative of allegedly suspicious behavior – a conspiracy against it (not the normal other way around). That’s perfectly reasonable and lawful; might as well dispense with the formality of a trial. Done deal. No conspiracy craziness here.

On the other hand, if you dare to mention that … what’s it called again? That Constitution, those rights people supposedly have in a free country, then you are a nut. In fact, any outside, critical thinking is evidence of insanity. Call the men in the white coats. You should be ashamed of yourself. Many of your liberal and conservative friends will point this out to you. Get it straight.

Something about the goose and the gander…

Just in time for Halloween the Senate has approved a Bill, destined to become law, which would shield banks from class action law suits.

Banks, credit card issuers and other financial companies will be able to block customers from banding together to sue over disputes, after the U.S. Senate on Tuesday narrowly killed a rule banning the firms from using “forced arbitration” clauses.

Republican Vice President Mike Pence appeared on the Senate floor at 10:11 p.m. EDT (0211 GMT) to cast the tie-breaking vote as the chamber’s president and approve the most significant roll-back of Obama-era financial policy since President Donald Trump took office vowing to loosen the leash on Wall Street. The final count was 51 to 50.

The Republican-dominated House of Representatives has already passed the resolution repealing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rule released in July, which also bars regulators from instituting a similar ban in the future.

Class actions are a mixed bag. But, in some cases, they do represent an easier way for multiple defendants to air real grievances, usually against a much more powerful plaintiff. An example:

Mega Bank X illegally created a million plus fake accounts in order to boost fees and manipulate earnings, their customers none the wiser. Said actions, already illegal, had financial ramifications for many of the unaware marks customers. The government, caring nothing for justice, mildly slapped Mega Bank’s wrist, as the guilty executives rode into the sunset with million$ in bonuse$. Many marks customers felt robbed, as they were.

In this case, which I did not make up, a class was formed from the affected victims and proceeded to court. Such action will not be tolerated much longer. The banksters own the government and write most laws for their benefit – not yours. Your job is to suffer and pay and keep quiet.

Oh, and to vote. Please vote. Your vote counts! You must legitimize the system that robs you. It’s your civic duty. And you get a little sticker – just like second grade.

Nothing to do with cars.

Jesús Huerta de Soto’s interesting and relevant essay excerpts: Classical Liberalism versus Anarchocapitalism: from LRC.

“The state has become the “idol” everyone turns to and worships. Statolatry is without a doubt the most serious and dangerous social disease of our time.”

Because nothing says, “Good Morning, Friday,” like a good old political theory essay.

Trump, the CIA, and JFK

CIA, classified files, conspiracy, government, JFK, lies, The People, Trump

The full release of all remaining classified files could come on Thursday. Or, it might not.

My question is, “And?” Or, maybe its, “So what?”

Jason Hornberger predicts that something will remain hidden or redacted: a pretty good prediction:

“Subject to the receipt of further information, I will be allowing, as President, the long blocked and classified JFK FILES to be opened.” (Italics added.)

The operative words, of course, are: “Subject to the receipt of further information….”

What is going on here?

Negotiations. The art of the deal. The CIA desperately does not want to show the American people its long-secret JFK-related records. It has asked Trump to continue keeping at least some of them secret notwithstanding the passage of more than 50 years since the Kennedy assassination.

Under long-established custom and tradition in Washington, D.C., when someone asks someone else for a favor, the person who is in a position to grant the favor demands something in return. That’s where the negotiations between Trump and the CIA come into play. Trump wants something in return. We don’t know what — maybe laying off on the Russia investigation — but his announcement last Friday is obviously part of the concluding steps of such negotiations.

What Trump has done with his announcement is send a clear message to the CIA: “Give me what I want and I’ll give you want you want. Otherwise, I will let all your cherished long-secret records relating to the JFK assassination be shown to the American people.”

Make no mistake about it: A deal is about to be made. The CIA will cave. It will end up giving Trump whatever it is he wants. Trump is in the driver’s seat because the CIA cannot afford to permit the American people to see the records it wants to continue to be kept secret. And once the CIA gives Trump what he wants, he will cave and give the CIA the continued secrecy it so desperately needs. All this will happen by this Thursday, the date set by law for release of all the JFK records that Trump has not blocked.

Think about it: The CIA has asked the president to continue secrecy of records that are more than 50 years old or, apparently, some relating to secret correspondence between the CIA and the Assassination Records Review Board back in the 1990s.

The CIA’s ground? “National security” of course, the two most important and meaningless words in the American political lexicon.

National security? Really?

Whatever definition that one might put on that nebulous term, no reasonable person can honestly believe that the release of 50-year-old records are going to result in the United States falling into the ocean or even that the communists are going to take over the federal government.

The CIA says that releasing its decades-old JFK records will reveal secret “methods” of intelligence gathering.

Really? What, like the CIA was using typewriters instead of computers and pay telephones instead of cell phones?

What is amazing (or not) is the extreme nonchalance of the mainstream media to the CIA’s request for continued secrecy. That should be big news. It’s essentially an admission of guilt, given that it is absolutely ludicrous to think that “national security” would be threatened by the release of the CIA’s long-secret JFK-assassination-related records.

Does any of this really matter anymore? Another question of mine: “What if?”

What if the files reveal the CIA was directly behind the assassination (with or without a second shooter), acting on behalf of the central bankers, with the Cubans as a convenient cover? What if the dream conspiracy turns out to be fact? Then what?

Nothing is what. None of the surviving conspirators (if any) would be rounded up and tried for treason. The CIA would not be disbanded. The Fed would continue stretching the economy beyond the point of no return. The media would say little. The people would care less – if they even noticed.

This, assuming it happened to be true, might have been Earth-shattering in 1977. In 2017 it’s a non issue, behind the Kardashians’s latest … whatever.

How many CIA and other government programs have been revealed to be criminal deceits? What’s one more?

I’d like to see all the information, good, bad, or ugly. But, whatever I’m looking for, a change isn’t it.
