Never Trust a Republican

The Loser Party prepares another betrayal. Because spinless and stupid.

With President Trump endorsing the idea, a number of Republicans — including Senator John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 2 Republican — are embracing the concept. Mr. Thune told his hometown newspaper, The Argus Leader, that he was “confident Congress will be able to find common ground on the so-called red flag issue.”

Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, has already proposed legislation that would offer federal grants to states to help them enact red flag laws, also known as “extreme risk protection orders.” And the Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, has asked three committee chairmen to “reflect on the subjects the president raised” and hold bipartisan talks of “potential solutions.”

With Graham, shouldn’t it be more of a Pink Flag law?

The good news is, at this late hour, the laws really don’t matter anymore. We’ll keep the guns. The bad news is, we’ll probably need them.

Freedom Prepper rides again!

Hello, Freedom Prepper friends! Long time, no post here. It’s good to be back, except that these are very sad circumstances. Over the weekend, just like many of you, Scott and I discussed the tragic events from El Paso and Dayton. As of my last checking, on the morning that I wrote this up, twenty-nine people are dead and God knows how many are wounded. Terrible. At FP, we’re two things: we’re most strongly pro-Second Amendment, and we’re also anti unlawful violence. As are you, dear readers. We’re also into the truth about these matters.

And, I have to say at this point, that the truth is missing (or certainly appears to be missing) from both of these shooting stories. There’s no doubt it happened and that innocent people were killed. But, there’s something behind it. Something is off. Badly off – like poor scripting. As with most of these shootings, there remain various inconsistencies and unanswered questions. With the Dayton story, I have strong reason to doubt the official narrative. If fact, I almost always doubt the official version of most stories, as told by the government and the media. You should too. But, today, we’re here to discuss the shooting numbers only.

Scott posed the following to me on Sunday, the Fourth: “Anyway they are reporting that [Dayton] is the 250th mass shooting in the US, would you be interested in writing an article about that statistic, spelling out the truths from the non-truths, to see what the real number is versus the media driven number?”

Yes, of course, I would! But, again, I’m only working with the reported stats. I just finished a column for another publication about some ridiculous improbabilities with the Dayton shooter. All of those aside, was he the 250th mass shooter in America in 2019? The answer is the old lawyer’s favorite: “It depends.”

You don’t need a military-grade assault weapon nor any “high” capacity magazines. Pay no attention to this story:

A homeowner with an AR-15 killed two of four intrusion suspects Wednesday night, one of whom was wearing a “Jason” mask.

The Ocala Star Banner reports that four suspects allegedly targeted the home. Two of the suspects, 22-year-old Nigel Doyle and 21-year-old Keith Jackson Jr, were killed when the homeowner opened fire. Guns were found near the bodies of both men.

Two other suspects, 19-year-old Robert John Hamilton and 22-year-old Seth Adam Rodriguez, were apprehended by responding deputies. Rodriguez was “arrested on charges of murder and home invasion robbery with a firearm. Hamilton faces home invasion robbery with a firearm.”

The vibrancy of the new Amerika. Ah. Thirty-caliber and he might have gone four for four…

Considering that we have mobs, domestic and foreign, roving now and numbering in the hundreds, maybe it’s time to upgrade to belt-fed weapons or flamethrowers.

Florida “Guardian” Program Advances to Governor’s Desk

It’s still no respect for the Second Amendment and it does nothing to eliminate government schools … but Florida’s (soon-to-be?) school gun law is a half-step in a sideways direction.

After about seven hours of angry, sometimes deeply painful debate about race and gun violence that spanned two days, the Florida House passed a bill that would allow classroom teachers to be armed in an expansion of the program it created last year after the Parkland shooting.

The debate at times reached a heightened pitch that had Democrats shouting or tearing up as black members delved into details about their personal experiences with racism and their deep-seated fears about minority children being targeted by teachers who have guns.

The bill is now on its way to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk. For teachers and other staff to be armed, school districts must opt-in to the so-called “Guardian program,” which allows teachers and other staff to volunteer to carry a gun on campus after undergoing screening and training by a local sheriff’s office.

I thought to make this my secondary TPC bit of the week if that even happens. We’ll see. Yippee.

President Trump Shoots Down Gun Control

In a move that shocked the world, Donald Trump announced to the NRA that he was repealing the NFA and the GCA, effective immediately. Well, no… That’s not quite what was said.

President Trump announced Friday that he would un-sign the global arms pact known as the Arms Trade Treaty in the latest illustration of his aversion to international pacts and world governance.

“I’m officially announcing today that the United States will be revoking the effect of America’s signature from this badly misguided treaty,” Trump said during a speech before the National Rifle Association in Indianapolis. “We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom.”

That’s right. We have our own chosen Republican bureaucrats to do that, one bump stock at a time. I suspect that un-signing the “Treaty,” which wasn’t (because unratified), has more to do with that conclave of Euro Arms sellers coming to DC next month and their domestic agents – they don’t want the slightest barrier in the way of police and military profit potential. My suspicion, at least. This had little to do with the Second Amendment, as currently gutted with ample assistance from the Loser Party, with partial assistance of the “g_d Emperor.”

Hey, at least we now have a Big, Beautiful, 2000-Mile-Long WALL on the MEX border now. And, Hillary is serving time along with all the other deep staters. Rest easy, Amerika.

Clutching Their Pearls

Just when you think all Republicans are wimps, this:

A handful of male lawmakers dressed up for a hearing they presided over Tuesday in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, donning pearl necklaces as activists testified about their experiences with gun violence.

Images from the statehouse — where legislators were considering arguments over a bill that would make it easier to take guns away from potentially dangerous people — caromed across social media as critics lobbed accusations of sexism and insensitivity at the necklace-wearing men.

The implication was clear, they said: These politicians thought gun-control activists were “clutching their pearls” in overwrought and self-righteous outrage — and, specifically, female outrage.

The advocates, who were volunteers with the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, said they felt mocked, as if some of the lawmakers were not interested in hearing how gun violence has affected their lives.

“It really is shameful to behave that way when your constituents are being brave enough to share their stories,” Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, said in an interview. “They clearly did not come to this hearing with open minds or compassion for their constituents.”

Find that spirit, keep it, and you might actually conserve something.

More Lies and Some Theft Too

Some states, moved by ignorance or communism, are planning to seize guns – cause they can…

Nine states have passed laws over the past year allowing police or household members to seek court orders requiring people deemed threatening to temporarily surrender their guns, bringing the total to 14. Several more are likely to follow in the months ahead.

More than 1,700 orders allowing guns to be seized for weeks, months or up to a year were issued in 2018 by the courts after they determined the individuals were a threat to themselves or others, according to data from several states obtained by The Associated Press. The actual number is probably much higher since the data was incomplete and didn’t include California.

The laws gained momentum after it was learned that the young man accused in the Florida attack, Nikolas Cruz, was widely known to be mentally troubled yet had access to weapons, including the assault-style rifle used to kill 17 students and staff members last Valentine’s Day at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

This is probably big with soccer mom and teevee watchers. Why stop with seizing only guns? To protect the children, is there anything not worth stealing??

Gunning Down the NRA?

The truth is that gun violence in America, including school shootings, is down. It makes sense that, as such, the NRA might slow down. Then again, this is America, where little makes sense. The people drift stupidly towards socialism, which usually comes with gun control (then atrocity).

The influence of the National Rifle Association, the nation’s highest-profile Second Amendment-rights organization and a longtime powerhouse against gun-control laws, is showing signs of potential decline.

The NRA’s own tax forms show a dip in revenue. And even as the group, now under the leadership of new president Oliver North of Iran-Contra fame, continues to spend big money on federal lobbying and political campaigns, its opponents in the gun-control movement, after decades of ever more deadly mass shootings and seemingly random incidents of gun violence, have been on the rise.

Temporary trend or decline?

Just What, Exactly, Is Conserved Here?

Ann Coulter’s bet is still out there waiting for a taker: will Trump cave on the budget and the wall (again)? It certainly looks like it.

The White House suggested Tuesday that President Donald Trump could back down from his demand for $5 billion to fund his proposed border wall in a year-end spending bill.

Trump’s push for the money has threatened a partial government shutdown when funding for seven agencies lapses after midnight Friday. Last week, the president said he would be “proud” to close parts of the government over border security.

“We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion that we’ll work with Congress,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Fox News on Tuesday morning. She added that the Trump administration could support $1.6 billion in border security funding proposed by Senate Democrats, as long as it can “couple that with other funding resources” to get to $5 billion.

We wait. And, even if there is a partial shutdown, those “essential” personnel will still keep working. One wonders if the ATF is essential because the agents will be needed ASAP to enforce Trump’s ban on bump stocks.

The Trump administration moved Tuesday to officially ban bump stocks, which allow semi-automatic weapons to fire rapidly like automatic firearms, and has made them illegal to possess beginning in late March.

The devices will be banned under a federal law that prohibits machine guns, according to a senior Justice Department official.

I feel a little foolish, now, about running those pro-Trump 2A articles at FP a few years ago.

No border security, no deportations, no repelling actual invasion, no sound budgeting, and no respect for the Second Amendment. Thank you, queen Hillary.

This new regulation is, of course, unconstitutional. But, it will stand – Ivanka’s tears can reach the Supreme Court if needed.

Be mindful that the same regulatory logic, under different laws, could be used – in one stroke of the Presidential pen – to ban aliens, gun control, and debt. All debt-holders must either destroy their debt instruments or else turn them into the Treasury for immediate destruction. All debt is now illegal. It’ll not happen though it could.

Conservative friends, the old Trump Train can’t make it far from the station if the tracks are destroyed.

A List to Scrutinize

This article has a veritable list of companies of which to be wary; look at them:

Smaller players largely have sidestepped scrutiny about their products or their financing because activists have mostly focused on pressuring big retailers and gun makers with publicly traded stock or debt held by mutual funds. Excluding the big three, there were 28 companies that made 10,000 or more rifles in 2016, up from 20 companies in 2011, according to ATF data.

“The number of manufacturers was shocking to me,” said Christopher Ailman, chief investment officer for the $219 billion California State Teachers’ Retirement system, which this fall started a new effort to press gun makers and retailers on safety.

Surging sales of assault-style rifles under the Obama administration paved the way for smaller gun makers to enter the market. Larger manufacturers have in recent years had trouble meeting a spike in demand for rifles like the semi-automatic AR-15, leaving room for Anderson and others, said Stefanie Zanders, chief operating officer of gun distributor Zanders Sporting Goods in Illinois.

“The ARs just took off, and some manufacturers couldn’t keep up,” she said in a telephone interview.

Overall, rifles accounted for 2.7 percent of the weapons used on U.S. murder victims in 2017, FBI data show. But assault-style rifles are at the center of America’s gun-policy debate because they have been used in deadly mass shootings, including last year’s sniper attack that killed 58 at a Las Vegas music festival.

No. Not the gun makers. Look at the banks, funds, and other meddling corporations, ready to squash the 2A and your other freedoms. It’s amusing that some of the biggest players, accustomed to heavy-handing larger manufacturers via their investment strategies, are at a total loss as to how to handle small, private firms.

Also, per stats I’ve used before, this piece shows (again) that ALL rifles account for a minuscule percentage of criminal activity – way behind bats, fists, and feet.

These would-be gun grabbing companies are anti-freedom and anti-American. Remember their names. (And there are plenty more).
