Casting the Widest Net, Real National Affairs for the People

Our topics of discussion, in this here column, of late, have been just a little heavy. For that, I do not apologize. Regardless of their ardent unpopularity among the general population, I kind of like freedom and truth. Matters of geopolitics, religion, economics, Satanic globalism, cultural decay, academic collapse, terrorism, war, and the very survival of Western Civilization are all worthy of intelligent consideration. And, if the approach is, or has to be, a little zealous, then so be it.

I recall Barry Goldwater’s eternal words of vitriolic courage, “…that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!”

But … not today. Today, in order to honor the real people out there (the “peeps,” as they call themselves) I cast forth the wide net, the drag net. Dredging the very bottom as it were. I owe my inspiration to a heart-warming family social media story I almost read last week. My drive I owe to a gaggle of teenage girls who, yesterday, forced me at gunpoint into a large, cool, hip, and very trendy Amerikan mall. It was, for them, a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, excused from schooling. For me, it was a fine, educational vacation day.

“Mauled at the mall,” I might normally call it. But, this time, I undertook a deep exploration of the culture on its home turf. Like a visitor from another planet, I stumbled about, awe-struck by the … um … the spectacle.

No, Real Men Do Not Dress Like or Act Like Women

Irrespective of WSJ speculation and what goes on at the mall.

Jason Momoa, Hollywood’s shaggy-haired He-man, wasn’t up for an Oscar this year, but he did notch a very different sort of honor at this February’s Academy Awards: most talked-about male scrunchie. And not just any scrunchie but a custom pink-velvet Fendi affair to match his pink-velvet tuxedo. On Mr. Momoa’s YouTube channel, he noted that his entire pink Oscars outfit was inspired by a different pink scrunchie that was lent to him by a hairdresser on the set of his upcoming Apple TV show. “I freaked out ’cause it was beautiful,” said Mr. Momoa of discovering that initial salmon-colored accessory.

Mr. Momoa is just one of Hollywood’s many male stars who reflect the trend of men’s growing their hair long. (others in this club include Bradley Cooper, Timothée Chalamet and Dev Patel). And with long hair comes the need to pull it back from time to time. Like during workouts. Or sweaty awards ceremonies. Although the company doesn’t have specific statistics on male shoppers, Ellen Slicklen, the SVP and general manager of Conair and Scünci (known for its colorful hair ties) has seen an anecdotal uptick in male shoppers with flowing locks. “We’re finding that they’re using not only hair ties, not only our skinny headbands, but they’re using scrunchies now because they’re comfortable,” said Ms. Slicklen, who added that her 19-year-old son has recently let his hair grow out. “It is a trend,” she said.

Some men look good and manly with long hair. But, this new trend isn’t about channeling the inner Boromir. It’s about metrosexual androgyny; the look fits the new feel and disposition. It’s all dyscivilizational.

As I may mention in this week’s TPC bit (haven’t started it yet), if you’re out in public in any American city, you’ll find the scrunchy-wearing, purse-toting, swishy male masses. For fun, ask one of them if “he” is carrying a handkerchief or a pocket knife. Ask “him” if he could bench press a pocket knife. Actually, don’t. The scrunchies are depressing enough.

Read what Philip Salzman and Paul Craig Roberts have to say about what passes for America and her colleges.

Universities in the 20th century were dedicated to the advancement of knowledge. Scholarship and research were pursued, and diverse opinions were exchanged and argued in the “marketplace of ideas.”

This is no longer the case. Particularly in the social sciences, humanities, education, social work, and law, a single political ideology has replaced scholarship and research, because the ideology presents fixed answers to all questions. And, although the most important thing in universities today is the diversity of race, gender, sexual practice, ethnicity, economic class, and physical and mental capability, there is no longer diversity of opinion. Only those committed to the ideology are admitted to academic staff or administration.

Universities have been transformed by the near-universal adoption of three interrelated theories: postmodernism, postcolonialism, and social justice. These theories and their implications will be explored here.

There Is No Truth; Nothing Is Good or Bad

The great shame is that most of the students do not know and do not care. Neither do their idiot parents. Neither do other idiots. Maybe they should.

Add in the second- and third-generation migrants, and you’re looking at around 85 million foreigners in a population of 310 million. That’s why I said, on a recent Darkstream, that the level of violence that can be reasonably anticipated in a US-breakdown scenario is Cultural Revolution-magnitude, which would indicate fatalities in the 50M to 100M range.

That’s Vox Day’s assessment. I was thinking 50 – 80 million. Another shame is that, again, nearly none care. (The greatest shame may be that 80 – 100M is too few).

Bumping the White Man

Joe Biden is as senile as he is corrupt. That explains his pointless babbling about white culture, violence, and various fairy tales.

The former vice-president Joe Biden condemned “a white man’s culture” on Tuesday night as he lashed out against violence against women and, more specifically, regretted his role in the supreme court confirmation hearings that undermined Anita Hill’s credibility nearly three decades ago.

Biden, a Democratic presidential prospect who often highlights his white working-class roots, said Hill, who is African American, should not have been forced to face a panel of “a bunch of white guys”.

“To this day I regret I couldn’t come up with a way to give her the kind of hearing she deserved,” he said, echoing comments he delivered last fall as the nation debated sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh amid his supreme court confirmation hearing.

Later in his Tuesday remarks, Biden called on Americans to “change the culture” that dates back centuries and allows pervasive violence against women. “It’s an English jurisprudential culture, a white man’s culture. It’s got to change,” Biden said.

We’ve gone from Ted Kennedy’s drunken lies, pre-1965 Immigration Act, to Biden’s demented, open, and utter contempt, today. Well. Let’s make at least one change! I suggest we ease the cultural problems by kicking the former Veep out of America. I hear the Atlantic is available.

In the meanwhile, another idiot has undone some of that English cracker jurisprudence and tradition. Bye, bye, bump stocks.

Bump stocks — the gun add-ons that can dramatically increase their rate of fire — are now officially illegal in the U.S., after a Trump administration ban took effect Tuesday. Anyone selling or owning bump stocks could face up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000 for each violation.

Chief Justice John Roberts declined to hear an appeal from gun makers on the new ban Tuesday, allowing it to remain in place. A separate appeal that seeks a stay on enforcing the ban is before Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The ban requires any bump stocks to be destroyed or turned in to law enforcement authorities. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has even posted instructions and diagrams showing how to destroy one of the devices and satisfy the new ban.

“In fact, no bump stocks will be ‘grandfathered in,'” as NPR’s Martin Kaste reported last month. “The new federal rule reclassifies them all as ‘machine guns,’ no matter when they were purchased, and owning one will become a felony.”

The jury is in at last! Vindicated against nonsense by the Mueller report, Trump, via his own unconstitutional actions (and all the broken or false promises), proved himself to be a lowlife sack of shit.

Seriously, an executive order, based on a false flag ISIS job, can and does terminate the Second Amendment, but the worst invasion in recorded history warrants emergency action in name only. Pathetic.

And, the failure to grandfather existing stocks actually renders Trump’s betrayal worse than Reagan’s 1986 FOPA faux pas.

Okay, I’m being a little harsh. After all, I’m sure we’ll get the (whole) wall, the big drain job, and a BOP cell for Hillary by the end of the week. Treason trials to start Monday. EO banning abortion by the end of next week.

Remember all this next November. I’ll remind you.

PS: use a loose grip or a rubber band (before Trump bans those too).

The Old College Try: Nation Concentrates on One of Many Higher Ed Scandals ***With Mueller Report Note***

A week or two back, the news broke of a DOJ crackdown on several score celebrities, all accused of bribing and lying their children’s way into elite colleges. The better-heeled Americans allegedly paid big money and told tall tales about Little Suzie; the colleges allegedly lapped it all up.

Some actresses I’d never heard of and some others stand indicted, facing prison time. Some of the children (not indicted) are “influencers,” celebrities because they are celebrities are some such rubbish. People like this undertake such nefarious actions because, A, they can, and B, because they’re kids were not bright enough to qualify otherwise.

Announcing the investigation, U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling made an interesting statement: “For every student admitted through fraud, an honest and genuinely talented student was rejected. …

I’m not sure why the following made me think of Jacques Barzun’s book, which you should read, but they did. Hmmm.

AJ breaks down the ongoing love affair between the Alt-Left (especially big tech)and the pedo freaks.

A new report about a convicted pedophile from Houston Texas who participated in a “drag queen story hour” with children was censored from YouTube and the channel that posted it was deleted. Alex breaks down how drag queens are being worshiped by the left.

Of course, big tech is banning and deleting like mad.

Over on the “normal” side, the WSJ chronicles the decline of men’s professional fashion.

Jos. A. Bank, a chain known for selling suits to the corporate masses, began airing a television commercial earlier this month that features men in sport coats, khakis and jeans.

With fewer men buying suits, retailers of tailored clothing are trying to adapt to a world in which it is no longer unthinkable to wear Lululemon pants to the office.

“We want to send the message that we can help with more than just suits,” said Mary Beth Blake, Jos. A. Bank’s brand president.

The chain, one of the largest suit sellers along with its sibling Men’s Wearhouse, both owned by Tailored Brands Inc., TLRD -1.79% is starting to feel the bite as more companies give their blessing to casual attire. In recent weeks, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Target Corp. joined the parade of companies that have relaxed their dress codes.

Sales at Tailored Brands, which also includes the K&G and Moores chains, fell 10.7% in the most recent quarter to $768.1 million. It predicts sales will continue to decline in the current period at all brands except K&G.

“We have just not kept pace with an evolving customer,” Tailored Brands Chairman Dinesh Lathi told analysts earlier this month, adding that the company was in the “earliest stages” of trying to find the right balance between suits and more casual attire.

The Lululemon pants thing may reinforce the drag queen notion. For Goldman, maybe casual should involve stripped jumpsuits? For the rest, this is a slippery slope. Outside Wall Street, “dressing up” has been redefined as wearing khakis. More like the devolving customer.

America, culture, diversity, Pat Buchanan

Pat B. is at it again, asking uncomfortable questions and challenging the loyalties of the disloyal.

What defines us, said Joe Biden, are the “enduring principles in the Constitution, even though we don’t necessarily all know them.”

But if these principles, of which many Americans are not even aware, says Joe, are what define us and hold us together, then what is it that is tearing us apart?

Is it not our differences? Is it not our diversity?

Is it not the powerful and conflicting claims of a multiplicity of races, religions, tribes, ethnicities, and nationalities, as well as clashing ideologies, irreconcilable moral codes, a culture war, and conflicting visions of America’s past — the one side seeing it as horrible and hateful, the other as great and good?

“Diversity is our greatest strength!” we are ever admonished.

But where is the evidence for what appears to be not only an inherently implausible claim but a transparently foolish and false one?

A nation needs evidence like a fish needs a bicycle.

culture, decline, money, Vox Day

Every other week, at least, I get asked if I’ve seen [______] show or if I’m going to [______] movie. No and no!

Vox Day gets it (as always):

In the meantime, a crew man, GafferAnon, explains what you can do to shut down the Pedo Palace:

Make the money dry up.
Stop going to the movie theaters.
Stop using the products they pimp.
Stop paying to be entertained.

Just stop. Stop buying tickets and then complaining about how they inserted SJW poison into your favorite franchise. Stop making snarky comments and posting negative reviews about movies you paid to see. Stop supporting those who hate you, hate your politics, hate your faith, and hate your nation. Stop funding your own destruction!

I have not been to a movie since The Return of the King came out in 2003. I will never see another Hollywood movie in the theater. Anyhow, be sure to read both linked posts in their entireties, as there is a copious amount of information in them.

Get out of the sewer and stop supporting people who hate you, your family, your nation, and your God. Stop it!

This week’s TPC article, if published…, will focus on the foreign influence perhaps as never before. Therein, I make passing mention of the cultural rot. The Devil stalks you like a lion. Either shoot him or run away; don’t feed him.

Based on a study of their most popular songs:

Pop songs have become angrier and sadder over the past 60 years, experts say.

Researchers analysed lyrics in best-selling songs from the 1950s to 2016 to find expressions of anger and sadness had increased, while words about joy had dropped.

The US study team looked at lyrics of more than 6,000 songs from Billboard Hot 100 in each year.

These are the most popular songs in the US each year as chosen by music fans.

Imagine that. What could have possibly changed in America since the 1950s?

APA, culture, decline, evil, men, psychology, toxic masculinity

This very week, by a strange chance, I had the dubious pleasure of thumbing through what passes for a modern psychology textbook. Suffice to say, the new age of illiteracy may actually be a good thing.

So it is was that I was prepared for the latest shenanigans from the APA: being male is bad:

Attention boys: bullying, homophobia, sexual harassment and abuse are all your fault, according to new guidelines published by the world’s largest association of psychologists.

While traditional gender roles – under which men are stoic, competitive, dominant and aggressive – have existed for millennia, the rise of social justice culture has seen a new phrase popularized in recent years: toxic masculinity.

In the APA’s “first ever” set of guidelines to help psychologists work with men and boys, the association states that “traditional masculinity is psychologically harmful,” and “causes damage that echoes both inwardly and outwardly.”

But what is ‘traditional masculinity’ anyway? The APA says traditional masculinity is defined by “stoicism, competitiveness, dominance and aggression.” It’s found in men’s resilience in the face of adversity and insistence on “looking tough” despite mental suffering, and in their tendency to handle emotional strain with anger.

It’s safe to say that anyone claiming association with the APA is now an enemy. Regard them as such.
