The NRA generally does good work. My experience, working with them on legal cases here and there, was positive. However, their surveys get a little old. This one popped up on the side while I read something at Taki’s Mag. I’ll go through a few, shunning the simple “yes” and “no” answer for the real truth. Answers italicized.

NATIONAL GUN OWNERS SURVEY
1. Do you agree that the Second Amendment guarantees your individual right to own a firearm?
Yes
No
No Opinion

No. It merely states that the right “shall not be infringed,” which it is anyway, thereby kind of mooting the point – much like the rest of the Parchment.

2. Do you support the confirmation of pro-Second Amendment judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and lower federal courts?
Yes
No
No Opinion

I support abolishing the Supreme Court and lower federal courts.
3. Do you support laws that protect your fundamental right to use a firearm to defend yourself and your loved ones from a violent criminal attacker?
Yes
No
No Opinion

Not sure which I support less: laws or violent criminals.

4. Should Congress and the states eliminate so-called “gun free zones” that leave innocent citizens defenseless against terrorists and violent criminals?
Yes
No
No Opinion

Better to abolish Congress and the states at this point, thereby eliminating the worst of the terrorists and criminals.
5. Should Congress pass a law that gives law-abiding citizens the right to carry a firearm across state lines?
Yes
No
No Opinion

Already got one! It’s called the Second Amendment. Duh.
6. Do you oppose any United Nations treaty that strips the U.S. of its sovereignty and gives U.N. bureaucrats the power to regulate every rifle, pistol, and shotgun you own?
Yes
No
No Opinion

I do not recognize the United Nations as anything other than an international criminal syndicate. Blue helmets are highly visible though.
7. Do you agree that law-abiding citizens should be forced to submit to mandatory gun registration or else forfeit their guns and their freedom?
Yes
No
No Opinion

For safety, we should register, confiscate, and destroy all government guns.
8. Should NRA direct critical resources toward stopping anti-gun billionaires like Michael Bloomberg who are spending millions of dollars to destroy your Second Amendment freedom in states around the country?
Yes
No
No Opinion

Bloomberg and his kind should be immediately and permanently deported from America.
9. Would you vote for a politician…

No. That one was easy.
10. Would you vote for a politician who…

Again, no.

There are more, but that’s all the fun I can stand today. The NRA, like all else “conservative”, is hopelessly stuck in the museum. It isn’t 1994 anymore. The Nation on which they had based the “N” in NRA is dead and gone and these cucks did nothing to conserve it as it died. They would do better to start planning for the future – after the collapse and the rebuild. My suggestion would be to use the language from the existing 2A, but add a capital felony for anyone who ever tries to circumvent it. Oh, but please send some money so they can stop Bloomberg from appointing judges who will blah, blah, blah.

Great survey though!

Americans Are Addicted to Social Idiocy

A new poll indicates that Farcebook, Twitbook, and other social media operations are every bit as hypnotic and mind-altering and dangerous as television. People know there’s a problem but they can’t break the habit.

The American public holds negative views of social-media giants like Facebook and Twitter, with sizable majorities saying these sites do more to divide the country than unite it and spread falsehoods rather than news, according to results from the latest national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

What’s more, six in 10 Americans say they don’t trust Facebook at all to protect their personal information, the poll finds.

There’s more.

According to the poll, 57 percent of Americans say they agree with the statement that social media sites like Facebook and Twitter do more to divide the country, while 35 percent think they do more to bring the nation together.

Fifty-five percent believe social media does more to spread lies and falsehoods, versus 31 percent who say it does more to spread news and information.

Sixty-one percent think social media does more to spread unfair attacks and rumors against public figures and corporations, compared with 32 percent who say it does more to hold those public figures and corporations accountable.

And a whopping 82 percent say social media sites do more to waste people’s time, versus 15 percent who say they do more to use Americans’ time well.

Wait for it.

But those numbers also come as nearly seven in 10 Americans — 69 percent — say they use social media at least once a day.

They don’t trust it. They know it’s not good for them. But they use it anyway. I can quit anytime I want! There’s more still.

The NBC/WSJ poll also finds Americans are down on Facebook, with 60 percent saying they don’t trust the company at all to protect personal information.

…

By contrast, the percentage of Americans not trusting companies or institutions with their personal information is lower for Amazon (28 percent), Google (37 percent) and the federal government (35 percent).

And by a 74 percent-to-23 percent margin, respondents say that social media companies collecting users’ personal data to allow advertisers to target them is not an acceptable tradeoff for free or lower-cost services.

Overall, 36 percent of adults view Facebook positively, while 33 percent see it negatively. And Twitter’s rating is 24 percent positive, 27 percent negative.

The people are twice as trusting of government as they are of Faceberg, while still taking copious advantage of the “benefits” of both. A slight majority say there’s no need to trust-bust the social tech monopolies. One frequent argument against that drastic action is that the socials are private companies ergo, leave them alone (to be evil).

Dear Libertarians, Whig Partiers, Tide Pod-eaters, and others: Farcebook is a corporation. Corporations are government-sanctified entities or fake persons. Government, on the other hand, is Faceberg with a gun.

And. What’s the great benefit to all the gibberish and stupidity of the socials? Does everyone search daily for long-form articles to read? No. Do they make use of the astounding research capabilities of the digital age? No. Self-improvement? No. It’s all cat videos, memes, pictures (of your kids…), echo chambering, cat videos, porn, gambling, and triviality. A giant, all-seeing, privacy-risking, literally mind-numbing (I mean literally a digital narcotic) waste of time.

Delete the accounts.

A suggestion for the neurological sciences-minded or professionals: conduct a brain scan study to map the effects, live or long-term, of social media usage. Maybe try t track who is and who isn’t more susceptible to harm. Write a paper. Win a prize. Give me credit. We’ll Tweet about it.

Smaller country = better health.

The U.S. was hampered by excessive obesity, depression, inactivity and other items, Davies said.

What could those “other items” be? Surely nothing a little new green socialism won’t cure, right?

Another survey finds the USA slipping a little. Have a gander:

nimbus-image-1516754969627

US News.

I find it interesting they only surveyed 80 countries. Honestly, they left off more than a few decent places and almost all of the sh@#holes… And I question their methodology – not merely for ranking the US so highly – but overall. For instance, for the US, they seem to think things would be better if only the $4 Trillion a year federal budget were a little bigger, if the government were a little bigger. They seem bothered by the electoral loss of someone who would have made it all bigger, someone who might have risked colluding in a coup to get elected. Odd.

May have more on this one tomorrow or this week. Some of my short list nations were absent (Haiti, et al…).

See what you think. And, Americans (and embedded aliens too), take pride: the US is still number one at slinging bombs and printing fiat!

Two surveys of note came out recently.

The first measured drinking, heavy drinking, and binge drinking around the USA. Unsurprisingly, the District of Corruption (considered as a “state”) came in first for heavies and bingers.

Detox.net/CDC.

And, in not unrelated news, the District (counted as a city) is just plain dangerous.

Washington ranked 166 out of 182 large cities/metros surveyed. This, despite being tied for first place (with NYC, Philly, and St. Louis) for the highest number of cops per capita.

Mordor on the Potomac has been dismal for decades. However, the standings (both counts) did improve slightly when a particular man departed…

Melbourne, Australia takes the honor for the highest quality of life – the seven year in a row. Good on ya!

Melbourne, Australia ranks as No. 1 for the seventh consecutive year, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 10th annual “Global Livability Ranking” of 140 cities around the world. It was followed by Vienna, Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland, Helsinki and Hamburg. The first American city to make the ranking was Honolulu at No. 17, followed by Washington, D.C. (No. 20), Boston (No. 34), Chicago and Miami (joint No. 38) and Pittsburgh (No. 41).

Over the past decade, there’s been a European currency crisis, anti-austerity riots, civil wars in Europe and the Middle East, a refugee crisis, mounting terror attacks and, most recently, civil unrest in the U.S. marked by the white supremacist marches. The average global livability score fell to 74.8% in 2017 from 76.1% in 2007. But 12 cities registered improvements in livability compared with just six that registered declines, said John Copestake, editor of the survey.
