America, college, education, sad...

That’s the American university. That quote, from Ron Unz, appeared in this Larry Romanoff article from last November that I must have overlooked.

The quality of American education, as we will see, is far lower than the world has been led to believe, and the quality in China is in many cases much superior to that in the US. Americans might care to ask why it is that Chinese elementary or high school students moving to the US are often promoted by one or two grades. The reason is that they know so much more than their American counterparts they would suffer terminal boredom if forced to remain at their prior grade level. If we refer to the PISA tests, Shanghai’s math scores were 119 above the OECD average, or the equivalent of nearly three years of schooling, with reading and science exceeding the OECD average by about 1.5 years of schooling. And in some cases, the American students were behind the OECD average by approximately the same number of years as the Chinese were ahead.

In the reading, I had a few minor quibbles about something. I gave those up, finding in general, exactly what I’ve been seeing and commenting on for years. It’s a great primer on higher “education” in the exceptional land of the free. I found it in this Romanoff article, today, about all things “exceptional” in the USofA.

I’m sure all this will impove after the election!

Afghanistan, CIA, lies, Russia, sad..., War

It’s back to Russia, Russia, Russia hype, and/or attempts to prolong the withdrawal from the empire’s longest war.

American intelligence officials have concluded that a Russian military intelligence unit secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing coalition forces in Afghanistan — including targeting American troops — amid the peace talks to end the long-running war there, according to officials briefed on the matter.

The United States concluded months ago that the Russian unit, which has been linked to assassination attempts and other covert operations in Europe intended to destabilize the West or take revenge on turncoats, had covertly offered rewards for successful attacks last year.

Because that just makes perfect sense…

Spokespeople at the National Security Council, the Pentagon, the State Department and the C.I.A. declined to comment.

I imagine this whole idiotic story is nothing but their fictional comment. But hey, Boomer Cons love this kind of fantasy.

Iraq, sad..., The Empire, War

Local Iraqis show their full appreciation for the nearly 30-year assault on and occupation of their nation by the very, very good, decent, and exceptional US Empire.

Donald Trump vows to hold Iran ‘fully responsible’ for attack on US embassy in Baghdad: Under-siege American soldiers wound 20 of pro-Tehran mob that stormed complex in retaliation for US airstrikes on Hezbollah

  • American soldiers inside the embassy have fired tear gas, stun grenades and warning shots at hundreds of fighters who broke down the compound gate and set fires within the complex on Tuesday
  • The ambassador was on leave at the time of the attack and embassy staff had already been evacuated before the US Marine guard became besieged at the compound

Iraq. Iran. I-sore. It’s working. Vote harder!

debt, economics, sad...

Great news, Amerika! You’re each and all $9,432 richer this year! Thanks, Sorcerers!

The federal debt increased by $1,203,343,570,253.55 in fiscal 2019, according to data released by the U.S. Treasury Department.

That equaled approximately $9,432 for each of the 127,586,000 households the Census Bureau estimated were in the United States in 2018.

In the decade that began on the first day of fiscal 2010 and ended on the last day of fiscal 2019, the federal debt increased by $10,809,572,749,922—for an average of $1,080,957,274,992.20 per year.

Remember, we owe this to ourselves. So, think of what you can buy when your cash comes in. Uh, but please don’t think about how this owing it to us stuff works. Some thoughts are not meant to be.

Ariana Grande, Bill Clinton, decline, pop culture, sad...

If you’re a young, hot pop star (and, hey, I know my audience…), then consider strongly going with the known, hard-line concert-bombing tactics of overseas fanatics rather than the lurid, lecherous, lurking variety displayed by the homegrown terrorists.

Consider Ariana Grande’s experience at a recent funeral – in a church of all places.

After singing a tribute to Aretha Franklin, Grande was promptly insulted by the presiding Bishop, at the same time he went all Weinstein on her.

His Church is All About Love … and Molestation…

…and One Groping… I think Jesse wished it was him. AFP.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, had the young performer turned around, she would have surely noticed Slick Willy eye raping her.

Like that wolf about to cook the little lamb in the old cartoon…

She did a great rendition too. Beware!

UPDATE: It seems a bigger controversy may surround one eulogy wherein an Atlanta minister preached a little hard truth. Hmm.
