Notre Dame Central Cathedral is Lost…. — The Last Refuge

A horrific historic and cultural loss. The 850 year old architectural masterpiece is a central monument to the Catholic faith. A spokesman said the entire wooden frame of the cathedral has come down, and the vault of the edifice could be threatened too. ‘Everything is burning, nothing will remain from the frame,’ Notre Dame spokesman […]

As Goes Notre Dame

So goes France. So goes Western Europe.

The Cathedral is likely a total loss.

‘The inferno cannot be stopped’: Fire chiefs say blaze ravaging Notre Dame cathedral is out of control after spire COLLAPSES and the entire roof of the stunning 850-year-old building burns to ashes

Officials in Paris said a large operation had been launched in an attempt to bring the raging fire under control

Pictures from around the city posted on social media showed flames licking up Notre Dame’s famous spire

The fire was first reported at 5.50pm (GMT) on Monday and the building was evacuated soon afterwards

Authorities say there were no deaths from the fire although declined to comment on the number of injuries

My guess is that renovation-related welding (or something) sparked the fire in an attic. My guess is that this is also a symbol of what the likes of Macron, Merkel, and other globo trash have done to France and the West. The structure should not be rebuilt in any way until the French nation is fully restored.

War with Iran. Just What We Need…

Another war we can never win.

When Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the Trump administration would designate a branch of Iran’s military as a foreign terrorist organization Monday, he said, “The Trump administration is simply recognizing a basic reality.”

But critics say they are concerned that it may also be part of an effort to bend reality enough to provide legal justification for armed conflict with Iran.

“I am troubled that the administration can’t unequivocally say that you haven’t been given power. I can tell you explicitly, you have not been given power or authority by Congress to have war with Iran,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told Pompeo on Wednesday.

At this point, who can possibly trust any neocons? Unless it never begins, this won’t end well.

A big one is on the horizon. Greenspan warns us.

“Without any major change in entitlements, entitlements are going to rise. Why? Because the population is aging. There’s no way to reverse that, and the politics of it are awful, as you well know,” Greenspan added.

While he said the economy looks “reasonably good” in the short run, he expects that over the longer term, growth “fades very dramatically.”

The day of the fake paper financialization is about over. Reality is the name of the storm.

Not the best news for this Palm Sunday:

For the first time “No Religion” has topped a survey of Americans’ religious identity, according to a new analysis by a political scientist. The non-religious edged out Catholics and evangelicals in the long-running General Social Survey.

Ryan Burge, a political scientist at Eastern Illinois University and a Baptist pastor, found that 23.1% of Americans now claim no religion.

Catholics came in at 23.0%, and evangelicals were at 22.5%.

The worse news is that, out in public, one increasingly doesn’t need a survey to know of the trend.

Ladies and Gentlement, Tiger Woods.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods has done it again. After an 11-year drought, golf’s most polarizing and popular figure has added another major to his dossier, outlasting a star-studded leaderboard on Sunday by posting a final round 2-under 70 to win the 2019 Masters. It’s his first major win since the 2008 U.S. Open, 15th of his career and first at Augusta National since 2005.

Giving Them What They Want

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard. – H.L. Mencken

Trump at least thought about giving the propositionistic sanctuary crowd exactly what they demanded via increased illegal migration (to their backyards).

White House officials have tried to pressure U.S. immigration authorities to release detainees onto the streets of “sanctuary cities” to retaliate against President Trump’s political adversaries, according to Department of Homeland Security officials and email messages reviewed by The Washington Post.

Trump administration officials have proposed transporting detained immigrants to sanctuary cities at least twice in the past six months — once in November, as a migrant caravan approached the U.S. southern border, and again in February, amid a standoff with Democrats over funding for Trump’s border wall.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco was among those the White House wanted to target, according to DHS officials. The administration also considered releasing detainees in other Democratic strongholds.

Hahaha! No Ban! No Wall! Sanctuary for ALL!!

I really should find another nickname for the lovely lady of Hawaii. Anyway, she hit the Julian nail squarely on the larger picture head.

Democratic presidential hopeful Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) condemned the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Thursday, calling the arrest a threat to journalists.

“The arrest of #JulianAssange is meant to send a message to all Americans and journalists: be quiet, behave, toe the line. Or you will pay the price,” Gabbard tweeted.

The Democrat’s remark came hours after police in London arrested Assange, citing charges he is facing in the U.S.

Assange is accused of conspiring to hack into computers in connection with WikiLeaks’s release of classified documents from former Army private and intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning.

The indictment filed under seal last year in Virginia and released Thursday alleges that Assange helped Manning crack a password stored on a Defense Department computer, which was connected to a government system that stored classified information.

This wasn’t exactly the sealed indictment we were looking for. And, upon reading the crazy conspiracy theory charges, I wonder if this is finally the first time the FedGov is telling the truth. My inclination is that it is not. I do know that facts, evidence, proof, and the rule of law don’t matter anymore. For Assange or for any of us, to include the journos.

It’s interesting that the new breed members of exotic Democratic women are just about the only people in power willing to say what needs to be said. Wouldn’t that our men had done the same – a while ago.

Hang ten, honey.

An Even Worse Decline: “We” are Not Even “Us” Anymore

This fits nicely with PCR’s earlier scheduled encapsulation of the fall of our Nation. Read DeGroot’s analysis of the collapse of happiness in America, particularly among the young.

This situation has several causes, all social in nature. Marriage, friendship, religious attendance, and sex are all correlated to higher levels of happiness, and with the exception of friendship, these are in decline. Why? I think the short answer is what I will call the autonomy paradox. There are sometimes good reasons for rebelling against the mores of the past. There are sometimes good reasons for having greater individual autonomy. The trouble is that such changes tend to produce new problems, and are often averse to preserving social cohesion. We must then find ways to deal with those new problems, and to achieve greater social cohesion, nor will the past—or present!—necessarily furnish adequate means for these efforts.

“There is nothing in political liberalism or individual autonomy that can teach the sexes how to make relationships work. For that, they need tradition.”
Progress, too, has a way of producing unexpected problems and sources of unhappiness. Few people, for example, thought that contraception, no-fault divorce, or the internet would engender an instrumental approach to sex and love, and yet that is just what has happened. Increased freedom has meant increased selfishness, manipulation, and irresponsibility. Eros is a free-for-all, with the relations of men and women, in their bewildering autonomy, more and more resembling those of gay male culture. And though there are many people who want more from sex and love, not all of them know how to get it.

According to Wilcox and Stone, the primary cause of declining happiness among the young is less sex:

Read the whole piece at Taki’s Mag.

As THE POPE wrote recently, the sexual revolution has helped in a host of depravity. It’s also led to less actual healthy sex. So it is with social media mania – for all the instant connections, we really couldn’t be more isolated.

Progress?
