Hope and Progress

While the rest of the world seemingly goes to hell it is nice to see that some in the West are still reaching for the stars – literally.

American and German scientists have crept a little closer to a warp drive.

The EM Drive. Dailymail.

Researchers say the new drive could carry passengers and their equipment to the moon in as little as four hours.

A trip to Alpha Centauri, which would take tens of thousands of years to reach right now, could be reached in just 100 years.

The system is based on electromagnetic drive, or EMDrive, which converts electrical energy into thrust without the need for rocket fuel.

Consider that while you contemplate flags, rainbows, and 4 game suspensions.

More Ancient Legal Doctrines of Self-Defense/Preservation

In preparation for my next big article here is a little 2A pre-history.

perrinlovett's avatarPERRIN LOVETT

This is the second installment in my new series about the Second Amendment, militias, government, and the natural right of self/defense.  After a few more segments I’ll get to the American experience.  This column is concerned with more ancient sources. Read on.

My last segment concerned the Natural Law and the provisions therein allowing for armed resistance of force and tyranny.  For those not acquainted with Natural Law (American attorneys, etc.), it is the universal law instituted by God for the management of human societies.  God’s first draft was extraordinarily simple, as He supposed that people would be capable of easily governing themselves in paradise.  The law was codified as: “Don’t eat that fruit.”  Unfortunately, the first humans were as dense as their descendants today.  They ate the fruit and thus complicated our lives forever.

God later attempted to set out ten simple laws He expected us to obey.  True to our fallen…

Hack Attack

Tags

You love your new car. Navigation, Bluetooth, satellite radio – its the best of everything on wheels. It’s also wide open for remote hacking. I’ve warned about this all year.

The issue is back in the news following a deliberate hacking and takeover of a new Jeep – here and here.

Wired.

No one warns like the automotive master, Eric Peters: Eric on the Jeep hack.

First they hacked the Google car. Now, it appears, they – “they” being hackers – could, in principle at least, take over half-a-million Jeeps (and other Fiat-Chrysler vehicles) equipped with in-car WiFi.

They’ve already done so in fact with one.

Chrysler says they have a fix and have issued a recall notice. Don’t drive a Jeep? Happy motoring.

Guarding the Guards

Last week a naturalized, radicalized citizen shot and killed five servicemen in Chattanooga.  You’ve likely heard the story. No flags a wavin here.

You may also be aware that the “armed” forces are not in many places. Dedicated citizens have stepped up to provide security against such future attacks.

Breitbart.

This is a kind sentiment yet it raises so many questions. It has also raised the ire of the ever sensitive, ever stupid government. The military does not want its employees protected.

I’m going to make sense of all this for you though many may see the truth already. Stay tuned.

The Second Amendment

I’m reposting this for a reason. The 2A has been in the news a bit recently. I’m planning a follow up based on current events.

This is a follow-up to some of my recent columns, Posse Comitatus,A Short History of Gun Control in America, and others.  The Second Amendment and its subject matter have been in the news recently as part of the never-ending “debate” over gun control.  The Amendment has also received special attention from the U.S. Supreme Court twice in the past five years.

My purpose here is to explain what the Amendment means and what most commentators (even pro-firearms authors) miss in their reading and application.  Even if you do not own guns or have an interest in them, this issue affects you and your Liberty.  Somewhere in the writing process I realized I should have divided this into several segments.  My apologies for the heft of the article.  Sadly, I didn’t even get to add in half of what I should – maybe a book is in order?  certainly a follow-up’s…

Driven Off The Cliff

This has turned into a very busy summer with a few Technical troubles. Please forgive all the re-posts and links, like those hereafter.

Eric Peters predicts that the imminent end of free driving in the United States. I think he is right:

Rise of the Google Car.

Eric Peters. I love his link to Red Barchetta, live in 1980. If you understand the inclusion, you see the problem.

The People will absolutely love the “freedom” gained by this loss of freedom. They will be free to get high, sleep, keep up with the Kartrashions, etc. while a computer decides their fate on the highways. Brilliant!

Lately, the folks have been busy waving flags, both of the rainbow and ancient martial varieties. The government rodents and their masters have been busy too. While the factions feuded Congress and Obama bowed lower to the New World Order, passing the latest nefarious trade act. Greece and Europe are falling into fiscal oblivion. China’s economy mirrors the West of 1929. The NYSE stopped trading due to a “glitch.” The sky hangs by a thread.

The good news, joining these stories together, is that the Collapse will necessarily hamper the drive to neuter drivers. There’s associated bad news but, hey, when the time comes the system will prepare a lovely diversion for that too.

Please consider these points in our modern world even as it collapses around us. Now, when such virtues seem most irrelevant is when they are most critical.

This from over 2 years ago – you’ll notice it is still cutting edge today. Some of it is still funny. Odd, that.

The Shared Responsibility TAX: ObamaCare a hit with the Supremes…

Three years ago today I really opened the old blog with this missive on the Obamacare fiasco. Three years later and we have yet another approving ruling from the Suprems of Minas Morgul. Remember how hard the GOP fought to repeal this insanity? Neither do I. More on the recent developments soon. Perrin

On this scalding, 100 degree plus day, with wildfires burning ominously across the land, our friends at the U.S. Supreme Court have upheld the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 20101 (a.k.a., It’s Just Another Tax Act).   Mind that they did not uphold it, Constitutionality speaking; they just upheld it.  It’s a hold-up, with real guns and all.  I reread the Constitution this morning and could not find any authority regarding patients or affordable care.  Maybe I missed something.

The case is National Federation of Something vs. Cerberus, Dark Lord of the Ministry of Health and Human Taxes.2  It’s a 193-page doozie and not worth reading.  If you must, skip to the final two pages wherein Justice Thomas throws up his dissenting hands and screams, “WTF?!”  Allow me to save you some time and tears.  The Court’s legal reasoning [SIC] goes like this – Congress…

Soon, perhaps Sunday, I will have more on the sure to be law Trade Act, Gay marriage, and, just in time for the third anniversary of my post on Obamacare in the Supreme Court, more on Obamacare in the Supreme Court.

Stay tuned for all the fun!
