But, I thought we’d make an attempt at boosting afternoon/evening traffic here. Yesterday, the holiday, was great – don’t give up now.

A for what it’s worth post:

The already clustered book publishing world is getting just a little tighter and concentrated.

German media giant Bertelsmann SE agreed to buy the Simon & Schuster book-publishing business from ViacomCBS Inc. for $2.18 billion, giving the company a much-larger role in the U.S. market.

We’ll end up with two publishers holding nearly half of all US book sales. Now, what they publish and who reads it is another matter.

And they probably won’t say “please” when they demand compliance with this draconian, idiotic, unconscionable, and private corporation-driven scheme most similar to what the ChiComs are proposing.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said Monday it’s “in the final development phase” of a mobile “digital passport” app that would tell airlines if international travelers had been vaccinated against COVID-19. The app would help “get people traveling again safely,” IATA’s Nick Careen said in a statement, by “giving governments confidence that systematic COVID-19 testing can work as a replacement for quarantine requirements.”

Saaaaaaaaafety. The public, I assume, will go along gleefully. You having this?
