What this study calls “a massive social experiment” is nothing new.

A Massive Social Experiment

The digital economy includes “those businesses that increasingly rely upon information technology, data and the internet for their business models.” The companies dominating the digital economy continue to undertake a massive social experiment where they keep the lion’s share of the benefits while shunting the risks onto society as a whole.

This could lead to a systemic digital crisis, ranging from a widespread breakdown of basic infrastructure, such as electricity or telecommunications due to a cyberattack, to an attack that modifies existing infrastructure to make it dangerous.

Keeping all the benefits while foisting all responsibility and risk on the people is how post-Westphalian enlightenment nation-states operate. It’s one of their core purposes. This is exactly how the Virginia Co. operated and how [pick a hedge fund] operates. Civilized countries that care about their citizens don’t allow this.

The last five years have kind of flown by. Waaaay back in 2020, the Freedom Prepper gang, the PPN, and yours truly started to get backlash from certain social media outfits (namely YouTube and Farcebook) about some of our podcast videos. I’ve kind of forgotten, but it seems like the following were off limits: 1) truth about the C19 hoax and fake vaccines, 2) truth about the fake 2020 election, and 3) barest mention of some real central banking practices.

Now, they’re admitting what everyone knew back then.

JUST IN – YouTube admits to having censored people during the COVID pandemic, and for political reasons. Offers terminated creators the opportunity to rejoin the platform.

We were never fully booted, we just had videos disappeared. And it’s a little late for FP anyway. Ah, those were the days. But on behalf of Scott, Joyce, Joanna, myself, and the entire crew, I hereby accept this token vindication.

5 Year Plans, China

Contrary to so much libertardian derping, China is proof that centralized planning goes a long way, economically and culturally. Part of the Sino success might have to do with their plans being for the good of the Chinese and not for the benefit of pedophiles and satanists. Here, in a coherent message one will never find at any Western corporate outlets, President Xi Jinping gives a brief history of the CPC’s 14 previous 5-year plans and a preview of the coming 15th.

Using Medium- and Long-Term Plans to Guide China’s Economic and Social Development Is a Key Governance Approach of Our Party

The formulation and implementation of well-crafted five-year plans represents a crucial governance lesson of our Party and an important political strength of Chinese socialism. In planning economic and social development for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, we must accurately grasp the development requirements for that period, aligning them with the overarching goals of building a great country and advancing national rejuvenation. Focusing on the objectives of basically realizing socialist modernization, we must define our objectives and tasks and introduce approaches and measures sector by sector. A thorough analysis and deliberation of these objectives and tasks are essential to ensure that they are well-grounded, precisely targeted, and achievable within the stipulated timeframe. We should adopt a coordinated approach, pinpointing key and decisive factors while carefully managing the pace of our progress. Efforts must concentrate on consolidating and expanding strengths, breaking through bottlenecks, addressing weaknesses, and improving development quality and efficiency, while maintaining consistency between sectoral targets and overall national objectives.

THE THORN AND THE CARNATION

by Martyr Yahya Al-Sinwar

Review by Perrin Lovett

This review concerns a novel that I became aware of during the Palestinian Genocide (2023—). It took a while before I found a seemingly trustworthy English translation. As with all Palestine-related books I have read over the past few years, this one commands respect. It dramatically narrates a horrible episode of shameful history and it does so through an incredible and gripping story.

(2024 English translation covers.)

*Sinwar, Yahya, The Thorn and the Carnation, Algiers: TASQ, 2004 (English translation, 2024).

Yahya Sinwar was the fourth leader of the Hamas political party in Palestine and Hamas’s resistance leader in Gaza. During the Palestinian Genocide, he was murdered by “Israeli” Occupation forces on October 16, 2024. Perhaps already mortally wounded, he rested quietly in a chair in a bombed-out apartment. When approached by an Occupation drone, he greeted it with a cold look and a thrown stick. So was born “Sinwar’s Stick,” a neological proverb for sumud defiance against all odds, without surrender even at the end. Sinwar lived the spirit of his posthumous eponymous maxim his entire adult life. He wrote The Thorn and the Carnation while in a Zionist prison.

The book has been called autobiographical or semi-autobiographical. It has also been described as a collection of thematic stories. I call it reality-informed historical fiction—drama tinged with action, romance, and suspense. Reading it, one may have difficulty separating the author from his characters. In this case, such conflation adds rather than detracts or distracts. Your reviewer also kept comparing the flowing story in the book to the ongoing saga in Palestine. I had a similar experience while reading and reviewing Yarwa Hawari’s The Stone House, another excellent dramatization. These stories are, of course, part of the moving history of West Asia; as even the publisher notes in a Goodreads summary:

The Thorn and the Carnation serves as a clarion call to comprehend the Palestinian reality—a narrative penned by those who refuse to be silenced, speaking directly to the heart of the global community. It is a narrative of resistance, of profound cultural identity, and an unyielding quest for freedom and justice, echoed in the authentic voices of its characters.

The entire tale is extraordinarily well-written, a feature that shines through translation. And it is compelling both of its own accord and because it was written by an author who provided the authenticity of an expert, a witness, and a participant. The story begins in 1967 during the “Setback” and runs until the turn of the century. The plot is largely narrated through the eyes of Ahmad, a boy who grows into a man as fictional time progresses. Sinwar went to great lengths to build a convincing world for Ahmad, his brother, Mahmoud, the rest of their family, friends, conspirators, enemies, and historical figures.

So much of the story reminds me of everything I’ve read and learned about Palestinian life: the heroic optimism, dedication to family, faith, and tradition, and all. Sinwar successfully weaves all elements together in a way that showcases local life, the ordinary and the unusual, all while furthering the plot and its theme, resistance. This is summarized in chapter twenty, concerning the evolution of the Palestinian cause during the 1980s: “He envisioned the rebellion turning into a constant state of resistance, becoming the main focus of Palestinian life, with all other aspects, including education, work, and health, adapting to support this central goal until the occupation is defeated.”

Several aspects of this vision, in the book, and as I’ve observed during the literal conflict, jump out at me: there appears to be an unconquerable spirit within Palestinians grounded heavily in their faith, centered in family life, empowered by education, and propelled by constantly doing what has to be done. That theme and spirited dedication should inspire the entire world (even those few Americans still possessed of faith, wits, and muscle). The story ends with another of those localized tragedies that Palestinians perpetually turn into triumphs. Twenty years after that fictional ending, the genuine story of Palestine—Gaza, the West Bank, and beyond—still defies the odds, ever pressing onward towards victory.

I highly recommend and laud The Thorn and the Carnation. It is yet another excellent volume for any Palestine-centric library and a worthy tome of general literature. Please consult Goodreads for obtainment options.

China, the American dream

A new and honest look at the “American dream.”

The US spreads propaganda such as the myth of the “American dream” as part of a “global ideological warfare” campaign, a Chinese think tank has claimed in a report released on Sunday.

The criticism comes amid heightened tensions between the US and China, with both nations frequently exchanging accusations over political systems, global influence, and ideological agendas.

The Xinhua Institute said Washington is promoting a flawed system abroad that fails to deliver results at home. The document focused on what it described as “colonization of the mind” by American soft power.

The “American dream” – the belief that hard work and talent can guarantee a good life, regardless of social class or origin – is one of the illusions the US sells, the report said.

“In this money-centric society, success stories of personal ascent and material abundance are but infinitely exaggerated versions of ‘survivorship bias,’ meaning attention is given only to the few successes while the many failures are ignored. The ‘American dream’ is a sugar-coated cognitive manipulation tool, a glossy packaging for exporting American values,” it stated.

The Xinhua Institute and China are concerned with US mythology infecting the greater world. And this isn’t new; Wang Huning was studying the myths back in the 1980s. George Carlin used to address it as an internal matter: “They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

Four More Wars!

I had intended to follow up my survey of American values—usury, sodomy, and genocide—with some brief notion of looking above and beyond. Perhaps the best I can offer at this point is the first rung of the Ladder of Divine Ascent: Renunciation. Leave the demons to their sad games and have as little to do with them as possible.

And, speaking of demons! In keeping with his agenda to “Make America Great Again,” or, as Max Blumenthal calls it, “Miriam Adelson’s Goals Achieved,” the wise and benevolent Trump has resurrected the U.S. Department of War!

On August 7, 1789, 236 years ago, President George Washington signed into law a bill establishing the United States Department of War to oversee the operation and maintenance of military and naval affairs. It was under this name that the Department of War, along with the later formed Department of the Navy, won the War of 1812, World War I, and World War II, inspiring awe and confidence in our Nation’s military, and ensuring freedom and prosperity for all Americans. The Founders chose this name to signal our strength and resolve to the world. The name “Department of War,” more than the current “Department of Defense,” ensures peace through strength, as it demonstrates our ability and willingness to fight and win wars on behalf of our Nation at a moment’s notice, not just to defend.  This name sharpens the Department’s focus on our own national interest and our adversaries’ focus on our willingness and availability to wage war to secure what is ours. I have therefore determined that this Department should once again be known as the Department of War and the Secretary should be known as the Secretary of War.

As usual, the Trump engages in a slight misunderstanding of history and reality while simultaneously slapping his neck to keep it orange. And nothing says “Secretary of War” like a dude who Signals (doomed) tactical mission plans to half of D.C., a reporter, and somebody’s brother. USA! USA!

Seriously, this might be one of Trump’s better moves. The Department of Defense was a complete and total failure. For all the money wasted on it, it never defended America. It did nothing as the country was invaded and conquered. The change also amounts to a word game; Americans appear to love word games more than substantial existence itself. Win-win!

For its latest hijinks, the Department of Defense, or, excuse me, War, allegedly bombed a speedboat somewhere in the Caribbean. The official story is that the dastardly tyrant (i.e., elected leader) of Venezuela, Nicholas Maduro, sent [checks notes] a team of his narco-terrorists(!) to smuggle [checks notes] drugs … somewhere. Genocide, Inc. claims to have neutralized (i.e., murdered) eleven hombres malos during the operation. As it was the official story, we can safely discount it as a complete and total lie. Methinks, however, that they did kill someone, because that’s what they do.

The Empire has it out for Maduro because he sides with BRICS+ and refuses to play D.C.’s rigged game. No one outside of D.C. has ever heard of his narco terror cartel, a group Mexico insists does not exist. Fishing boats might be the last targets the Empire can reasonably be expected to deal with effectively, if by “effectively,” we mean by acts of piracy and homicide. If the Lord Secretary of War, his Commander-in-orange, and their handlers escalate, and, if recent patterns hold, then look for Venezuela to shoot down a bunch of imperial drones and maybe sink a destroyer or two. In any event, someone stupid will declare victory, FOX will pontificate, the Boomers will boom, Russia and China will continue to walk all over the remnants of the West, the Gaza Genocide will proceed apace, more college students will become illiterate, and wise Americans will progress to the next rung, Detachment.

There’s more, of course. But for now, there’s just no point.

Deo vindice.
