The Comeback That Can’t

2033, conservative, Trump

The Washington Times opines about a future resurgence of conservatism. Given that conservatism is a non-ideology and a failure, let’s predict that the comeback either won’t happen or that it won’t matter.

As conservatism takes its new shape in the face of President Trump’s takeover of the Republican Party, old alliances have been fractured, and multiple fights have broken out about what conservatism should look like. Many of those who waded into the debate have assumed, not without justification, that recent political developments have shattered limited-government conservatism and that any future conservatism is likely going to be less libertarian than that which preceded Trump. But there are a number of good reasons to believe that limited-government conservatism will make a comeback.

They forgot to mention getting back to the Constitution.

Paying for the Wall?

I’m not sure how much money it will raise, but Mr. Trump vows new tariffs on all things MEX:

In a surprise announcement that could derail a major trade deal, President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he is slapping a 5% tariff on all Mexican imports, effective June 10, to pressure the country to do more to crack down on the surge of Central American migrants trying to cross the U.S. border.

He said the percentage will gradually increase — up to 25% — “until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied.”

Was this a January 2017 oversight item? Anyway, better late than never.

A Tale of Two Countries

One country sends across or allows to cross, our Southern border, some 4,000 invaders every single day. Thousands of miles away, another country, with no ability to attack the imperial homeland, mostly minds its business. Regarding the first country, your President sends hundreds of soldiers – to shuttle the invaders from welfare appointment to welfare appointment. To the other, harmless country, he sends a carrier task force, heavy bombers, fighters, and combat troops.

Can you name the countries? MAGA?

THE WALL Progresses!

At THIS RATE the entire border should be (nominally) secure within  500 years!

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has put up just 1.7 miles of fencing with the US$1.57 billion that Congress appropriated last year for President Donald Trump’s wall along the Mexican border, a federal judge was told.

A lawyer for the U.S. House of Representatives provided the information Tuesday to the judge in Oakland, California, who is weighing requests from 20 state attorneys general and the the Sierra Club to block Trump from using funds not authorized by Congress to build the wall.

“The administration recently provided updated information to Congress on the status of its efforts as of April 30, 2019,” the attorney, Douglas Letter, said in a court filing. “Based on that updated information, it appears that CBP has now constructed 1.7 miles of fencing with its fiscal year 2018 funding.”

That was 3/4 of a mile more than the administration reported at the end of February, Letter said.

U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam had asked for the information at a May 17 hearing.

Representatives of Customs and Border Protection didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment after regular business hours.

And, it will only end up costing about $2 Trillion! What. A. Deal!

Maybe the Official End of the United States Too

Not necessarily outright, but a useless war with Iran could well precipitate the eventual and inevitable breakup of the U.S. Empire.

“If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again!,” Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

It’s unclear exactly what promoted Trump’s posting, but news outlets reported explosions in Iraq’s capital and that a rocket launcher was discovered in eastern Baghdad, an area that is home to Iranian-backed Shiite militias.

Step One: Get rid of Bolton. Step Two: Ditch Twitter. Step Three: Watch a 2015-16 campaign event and note the topics (and then start following through).

Maybe to Your Town

Certainly with your money. Donald “MAGA” “Build the WALL” Trump plans to resettle (let’s not kid ourselves) 225K illegal aliens … somewhere, somehow, someday.

The Trump administration is looking to hire a private contractor that will be responsible for transporting approximately 225,000 migrant children and families to shelters across the country over the next five years as they wait for their asylum claims to be processed.

ICE (the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency) is seeking the services of a “highly responsible” contractor that “fully embraces the philosophy” of treating all unaccompanied minors (UACs) and family units (FAMUs) with “dignity and respect,” according to a federal procurement document dated May 13.

A responsible philosophy of dignity and respect. This sounds racist as hell to me! What are the other 30 million illegals supposed to do? Make their own travel arrangements? That actor guy was right about Trump! Maybe the SJWs were right about abolishing ICE.

A better idea, given that these are “children and families,” might be to build a big water park near to the Southern border. The ultimate ride could be a giant water slide tower, one that deposits thrilled UAC-FAMU frolickers right over the Wall.* Then again, I stopped making suggestions to the White House when they never answered any of my other questions and comments. At this point, go ahead and resettle all of them. I hear Trump Tower might have some vacancies.

*Would also require building the Wall.

Trillion Dollar Tweets

Remember back to Econ 101, if you took it? The economy was supposed to be impossible to centralize because it is made up of millions of people making hundreds of millions of decisions – about everything. That’s true. But, those people and their decisions were supposed to be rational. People can be expected to think logically about their choices out of respect for their own best interests. The Virtues of Selfishness and all that.

So, how rational is a Trillion-dollar market reaction to a single Tweet about trade with China?

Analysts have now pointed out that the President’s message cost the markets more than $13bn for each of the 102 words in the tweet.

Global stocks have tumbled to a six-week low – with Bloomberg estimating the tweet wiped “about $1.36 trillion” off shares.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 400 points on Thursday – 700 points on the week – while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite also dropped.

The FTSE 100 survived the worst of the sell-off, dropping 0.8 per cent while Japan’s Nikkei slipped 0.9 per cent to close at 21,402.13.

South Korea’s Kopsi tumbled 3.04 per cent to close at 2,102.01 – its biggest one day percentage loss since mid-October 2018

A fortune has already been erased from global stocks so far this week, reports news.com.

However, speaking at a rally in Florida last night, Trump insisted the new tariffs were because China “broke the deal.”

This isn’t rational reaction. This isn’t economics. It’s not even financialization for finance sake. This is the product of sorcery.

Ron Paul on Trump, Venezuela, and the Deep, Crazy State

I haven’t covered much by Dr.Paul lately – my fault. He’s still out there and still demonstrating what a mistake it was not to elect him in 2008.

Is President Trump about to invade Venezuela? His advisors keep telling us in ever-stronger terms that “all options are on the table” and that US military intervention to restore Venezuela’s constitution “may be necessary.” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was on the Sunday news programs to claim that President Trump could launch a military attack against Venezuela without Congress’s approval.

Pompeo said that, “[t]he president has his full range of Article II authorities and I’m very confident that any action we took in Venezuela would be lawful.” The man who bragged recently about his lying, cheating, and stealing, is giving plenty of evidence to back his claim.

The president has no Constitutional authority to start a war with Venezuela or any other country that has not attacked or credibly threatened the United States without Congressional approval. It is that simple.

How ironic that Pompeo and the rest of the neocons in the Trump Administration are ready to attack Venezuela to “restore their constitution” but they could not care less about our own Constitution!

While Washington has been paralyzed for two years over disproven claims that the Russians meddled in our elections to elect Trump, how hypocritical that Washington does not even hesitate to endorse the actual overturning of elections overseas!

The nuts will happily settle for Iran if Venezuela isn’t available.

That Tiger Woods is. I was sometimes irritated with the old Tiger, always impressed. But, this comeback and the victory at Augusta was something different. He earned the Medal:

President Trump presented Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the White House Rose Garden Monday, calling the champion golfer “a global symbol of American excellence, devotion and drive.”

“Tiger, we are inspired by everything you’ve become and attained. The job you’ve done is incredible,” Trump said to Woods. “Your spectacular achievements on the golf course, your triumph over physical adversity and your relentless will to win, win, win; these qualities embody the American spirit of pushing boundaries, defying limits and always striving for greatness.”

Trump, an avid golfer who played with Woods at the president’s golf club in Florida this past February, also referred to Woods as “a true legend, an extraordinary athlete who has transformed golf and achieved new levels of dominance.”

“He’s also a great person. He’s a great guy,” Trump added.

And, he’s a great guy.

President Trump Shoots Down Gun Control

In a move that shocked the world, Donald Trump announced to the NRA that he was repealing the NFA and the GCA, effective immediately. Well, no… That’s not quite what was said.

President Trump announced Friday that he would un-sign the global arms pact known as the Arms Trade Treaty in the latest illustration of his aversion to international pacts and world governance.

“I’m officially announcing today that the United States will be revoking the effect of America’s signature from this badly misguided treaty,” Trump said during a speech before the National Rifle Association in Indianapolis. “We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom.”

That’s right. We have our own chosen Republican bureaucrats to do that, one bump stock at a time. I suspect that un-signing the “Treaty,” which wasn’t (because unratified), has more to do with that conclave of Euro Arms sellers coming to DC next month and their domestic agents – they don’t want the slightest barrier in the way of police and military profit potential. My suspicion, at least. This had little to do with the Second Amendment, as currently gutted with ample assistance from the Loser Party, with partial assistance of the “g_d Emperor.”

Hey, at least we now have a Big, Beautiful, 2000-Mile-Long WALL on the MEX border now. And, Hillary is serving time along with all the other deep staters. Rest easy, Amerika.
