Remigration is now a thing in Sweden.

Samtidigt som antalet asylsökande i EU har stabiliserat sig på en hög nivå fortsätter nedgången i Sverige. Till och med vecka 30 i år har totalt 5 600 asylansökningar registrerats. Det är en minskning med 27 procent jämfört med motsvarande tidsperiod förra året. Enligt Migrationsverkets prognos ser Sverige ut att i år få det lägsta antalet asylsökande sedan 1997.

– Regeringens arbete ger resultat. Antalet asylansökningar går mot en historiskt låg nivå, de asylrelaterade uppehållstillstånden fortsätter att minska och för första gången på 50 år har Sverige nettoutvandring. Denna utveckling mot en hållbar invandring är nödvändig för att vi ska kunna stärka integrationen och minska utanförskapet, säger migrationsminister Maria Malmer Stenergard.

While the number of asylum seekers in the EU has stabilized at a high level, the decline in Sweden continues. Up to week 30 this year, a total of 5,600 asylum applications have been registered. This is a decrease of 27 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. According to the Migration Board’s forecast, Sweden appears to have the lowest number of asylum seekers this year since 1997.

– The government’s work gives results. The number of asylum applications is moving towards a historically low level, the asylum-related residence permits continue to decline and for the first time in 50 years Sweden has net emigration. This development towards sustainable immigration is necessary for us to strengthen integration and reduce exclusion, says Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard.
