Not new jobs created. Illegals apprehended.

  • In total, 109,144 individuals were apprehended at the border – 98,977 between points of entry and 10,167 at points of entry. This is the highest number in 12 years, it is very likely the highest number of unique individuals of all time, given that many in the past were the same individuals deported multiple times within the same week, while almost all of these are first-timers.
  • The 58,474 individuals in family units set another record, but an increasing number of people are also coming as single adults, 31,606. The overwhelming number of single adults are from Mexico, while most of the family units and unaccompanied teens are from Central America.
  • The increases over the previous month seemed to be from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), El Paso, and Yuma sectors, the three busiest corridors in absolute numbers. Overall, for this fiscal year, every sector has seen a massive increase in family units.
  • Guatemala still leads the pack for the most migrants coming in all categories, followed by Honduras, with a sharp drop-off for Salvadorans. Overall, 301,900 Guatemalans were apprehended at and between points of entry since the beginning of fiscal year 2018. In other words, in just 19 months, 1.7 percent of Guatemala’s population came to our border, and that is on top of the 815,000 Guatemalan nationals who already lived here, most of them illegally. A recent poll showed that a third of Guatemalans would like to immigrate to the U.S. A total of 224,078 Hondurans have come since FY 2018, 2.4 percent of the population. That is on top of the 623,000 already here. This means that the size of these countries’ populations in America equal roughly 6.6 percent and 9.2 percent of their respective populations in Guatemala and Honduras. “Only” 79,000 have come from El Salvador over the past 19 months, but because they dominated the Central American migration in previous years, we already had 1.4 million Salvadorans in this country as of last year, representing roughly 22 percent of their entire homeland population!

The 109,144 is the number apprehended. And, they don’t catch everyone. Those that are arrested, are quietly released pending a court hearing that 97% never show up for. We’re past Camp of the Saints. This is Camp of Conquest.

Remember back to Econ 101, if you took it? The economy was supposed to be impossible to centralize because it is made up of millions of people making hundreds of millions of decisions – about everything. That’s true. But, those people and their decisions were supposed to be rational. People can be expected to think logically about their choices out of respect for their own best interests. The Virtues of Selfishness and all that.

So, how rational is a Trillion-dollar market reaction to a single Tweet about trade with China?

Analysts have now pointed out that the President’s message cost the markets more than $13bn for each of the 102 words in the tweet.

Global stocks have tumbled to a six-week low – with Bloomberg estimating the tweet wiped “about $1.36 trillion” off shares.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 400 points on Thursday – 700 points on the week – while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite also dropped.

The FTSE 100 survived the worst of the sell-off, dropping 0.8 per cent while Japan’s Nikkei slipped 0.9 per cent to close at 21,402.13.

South Korea’s Kopsi tumbled 3.04 per cent to close at 2,102.01 – its biggest one day percentage loss since mid-October 2018

A fortune has already been erased from global stocks so far this week, reports news.com.

However, speaking at a rally in Florida last night, Trump insisted the new tariffs were because China “broke the deal.”

This isn’t rational reaction. This isn’t economics. It’s not even financialization for finance sake. This is the product of sorcery.

Big Social Spying on Children

It’s hardly a surprise. Neither is the utter inaction from “your” elected officials. Nor is the insouciance of the American Sheeple. But, spy they do.

A coalition of 19 consumer and privacy groups plans to file a complaint Thursday alleging that Amazon’s Echo Dot Kids Edition is illegally collecting voice recordings and other identifying information on users under 13 and that the system’s parental controls are flawed.

The complaint says that the Echo Dot Kids Edition – a colorful, youth-oriented version of Amazon’s popular “smart speaker” systems that allow users to ask questions, play music or control thermostats with voice commands – violates the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, known as COPPA. The 1998 law sharply limits what data companies can collect without permission from parents.

The 98-page complaint is the latest in a series by consumer and privacy groups urging the Federal Trade Commission to intensify its enforcement of how leading technology companies treat children and their personal data. The Institute for Public Representation at Georgetown University Law Center served as counsel to the groups on the complaint.

“It is incredibly important not only that Amazon fix these problems but that the FTC enforce COPPA,” said Josh Golin, executive director of the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood, an advocacy group based in Boston and the lead complainant. “What we need is a COPPA cop on the beat.”

Mea COPPA. Waiting for that government beat cop is going to be a long wait. Take matters into your own hands; get your kids off the social dragnets.

No Border, No Nation

The flood pours in.

The government is so overwhelmed by the border surge that it’s already released 168,000 illegal immigrant family members directly into communities, the government said Wednesday.

An ICE official made the revelation at a Senate hearing where she and other top immigration officials pleaded with Congress to do something to stop the surge of migrants that’s overwhelming the system.

April set new records, with the Border Patrol nabbing more than 58,000 illegal immigrants traveling as families in that month alone.

That was part of more than 109,000 illegal immigrants nabbed border wide, including at or between the ports of entry.

And for the first time in history, nearly half of the adults arriving are bringing children with them, looking to take advantage of the loopholes in U.S. policy that they believe — usually correctly — will earn them a foothold in the U.S.

Was releasing them back to where they came from not possible? And, why, how were they allowed in, in the first place?

Oh, look! It’s Iran or something.

Ron Paul on Trump, Venezuela, and the Deep, Crazy State

I haven’t covered much by Dr.Paul lately – my fault. He’s still out there and still demonstrating what a mistake it was not to elect him in 2008.

Is President Trump about to invade Venezuela? His advisors keep telling us in ever-stronger terms that “all options are on the table” and that US military intervention to restore Venezuela’s constitution “may be necessary.” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was on the Sunday news programs to claim that President Trump could launch a military attack against Venezuela without Congress’s approval.

Pompeo said that, “[t]he president has his full range of Article II authorities and I’m very confident that any action we took in Venezuela would be lawful.” The man who bragged recently about his lying, cheating, and stealing, is giving plenty of evidence to back his claim.

The president has no Constitutional authority to start a war with Venezuela or any other country that has not attacked or credibly threatened the United States without Congressional approval. It is that simple.

How ironic that Pompeo and the rest of the neocons in the Trump Administration are ready to attack Venezuela to “restore their constitution” but they could not care less about our own Constitution!

While Washington has been paralyzed for two years over disproven claims that the Russians meddled in our elections to elect Trump, how hypocritical that Washington does not even hesitate to endorse the actual overturning of elections overseas!

The nuts will happily settle for Iran if Venezuela isn’t available.

Cory Booker, deport his ass, enemy combatants, gun control

Please deport this enemy combatant before he has the chance to act.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), who recently promised to “bring a fight to the NRA like they have never ever seen before,” on Monday morning introduced a sweeping gun-violence prevention plan that centers around a national gun-licensing program, the most comprehensive and far-reaching of any candidate in the Democratic presidential field.

“My plan to address gun violence is simple—we will make it harder for people who should not have a gun to get one,” Booker said in a statement, pledging to take executive action on the first day of his desired presidency.

“As president, we will make commonsense changes to our gun laws such as requiring a license to purchase a gun that includes universal background checks, banning assault weapons, and closing the loopholes that allow domestic abusers and people on terrorist watch lists to get their hands on a gun,” he continued. “I am sick and tired of hearing thoughts and prayers for the communities that have been shattered by gun violence—it is time for bold action.”

It is time for bold action. Mr. Trump, get his ass outta here. He’s fired. It’s bold but there is a precedent. Use it. I hear Canada is a good dumping ground.

My money is on all of them making it.

A new survey of Guatemalans shows that a third of the country plans on immigrating to the United States.

The study, released Thursday by the Association for Research and Social Studies and Barometro de las Americas, found that almost 40% of Guatemalans intend to migrate, with 85% of those planning on immigrating to the United States.

My math says that 85% of 40% of 17.3 million is 5,882,000 new “Americans.” I going to stop the math and NOT find out what this does to the already precariously low US national average IQ.

This Gorrel cartoon gets it right, about the Dems in 2020 and about the timing of socialism. The more “successful” commie-lite programs (e.g. Sweden) were implemented during times of existing economic success, tomes when there was money to fritter. America doesn’t have that. Our current condition is of a restorative mode and, sadly, most of it is simply over-papering with fake money.

The neocons Trump administration dispatched an aircraft carrier to Iran…

The United States is deploying an aircraft carrier strike group and a bomber task force to the Middle East on short notice in response to “clear indications” Iran and Iranian proxies were planning an attack on U.S. forces in the region, a U.S. official said.

Late Sunday night, the White House made a surprise announcement that the USS Abraham Lincoln and a bomber task force were being deployed in response to unspecified “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings.”

A statement from National Security Adviser John Bolton said the deployments were intended “to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

“The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces,” the statement continued.

Clear indications from whom? Oh, of course.

Israel passed information on an alleged Iranian plot to attack U.S. interests in the Gulf to the U.S. before national security adviser John Bolton threatened Iran with “unrelenting force” last night, senior Israeli officials told me.

Why it matters: Bolton’s unusual and aggressive statement included news that the U.S. would move an aircraft carrier to the region. The officials said intelligence gathered by Israel, primarily by the Mossad intelligence agency, is understood to be part of the reason for Bolton’s announcement.

Behind the scenes: Information about possible Iranian plots against the U.S. or its allies in the Gulf were raised two weeks ago in talks held at the White House between an Israeli delegation headed by national security adviser Meir Ben Shabbat and a U.S. team led by Bolton, the Israeli officials told me.

  • The intelligence about a possible Iranian plot is not very specific at this stage, but the officials said it was clear the threat was against a U.S. target in the Gulf or U.S. allies like Saudi Arabia or the UAE.

Does this not smell a little like yellowcake?

“straight up Venezuela flipping”

America, neocons, Venezuela

Yo, G! Straight up. Pompeo. Word! Bolton.

A rapper might be able to come up with better ideas than the neocons about what to do with Venezuela. Last week, on the morning of the big “coup,” I talked to a sweet woman from VEN. She was naturally worried about her elderly parents in Caracas. I pondered whether the regime would assassinate Guaido.

In the aftermath of a faltering opposition uprising in Venezuela, the Trump administration is looking at imposing new individual sanctions against the Maduro government and also scrambling for ideas that can have a greater impact on the ground, including military options.

The White House is calling for relevant departments to produce more options for the president to consider on Venezuela. The National Security Council is pushing the Defense Department for military ideas and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is seeking ways to entice Russia to pull away from Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

Current and former officials recognize there are not many more options other than military action or some type of internal revolt.

“It’s more sanctions, military or straight up Venezuela flipping,” said a senior administration official on condition of anonymity. “And that’s a problem. All they have to do is delay, delay, delay and they’re still in power.”

Pompeo, National Security Advisor John Bolton, Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan and Navy Adm. Craig Faller, commander of U.S. Southern Command, met Friday morning and discussed different options to increase pressure on the Maduro government, including military participation.

I’m not as worried now. Notice that Maduro hasn’t even threatened to arrest the US’s “legitimate” choice as president. I suspect that’s because the regime views him (and his neocon nut backers) as harmless objects of fun. That’s how low US foreign “policy” has fallen – Washington levels a gun at someone and all they do in response is laugh.

And, what of these options? Is one of them to simply leave it the hell alone? Or, how about just offering whoever is in charge that we will just keep buying the oil at market prices? Probably not.

This is a repeat of Syria. Russia, with a handful of troops and one or two ships, has checked US imperial aggression. Next, they’ll likely offer VEN a way out of depression via a switch to BRIC’s monetary policy and advice on tapering off the Bernie-esque domestic socialism. Then, they might offer a better internet alternative.

The options cons may well abandon that plan and move on. People of Nicaragua, watch out.
