It is potentially unsupportable for fractious western democracies and poorer countries alike, beset by simultaneous post-pandemic security, energy, food, inflation and climate crises. Yet out of myopic self-interest over issues such as Russian oil and gas imports, and from fear of wider escalation, western leaders duck the tough choices that could ensure Ukraine’s survival and help mitigate such ills.

When the lies run out, all satan’s servants are left with is fear. Staggering crisis for them is a stunning victory for us.

Do we need them? Not that laws mean much anymore in lawless Amerika, but, in response to all the “red flag” communism sweeping the states, maybe we could belatedly have some mechanism for men (if any) to take old-school common law action when necessary?

Something, codified, along the lines of Mencken’s observation: “Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.”
